I like the remake and was expecting Kikuta to use his Secret of Mana Genesis album and recreate all the rest of the music that way. I think I heard a track or two from his Genesis album in the trailer but I could be wrong. Either way I was HUGELY disappointed with the new soundtrack.

It's so sad that they took so less love for the remake. I don't care about the graphics and I'm ok with this but even the Thanatos/Dark Lich theme is so bad and nothing compared to the original and all songs feel like they have way too much hall on it.
They sure learned their lesson for Trials of Mana. 99% fucking perfection 1% nagging trivialities. Genuinely better than the original tracks in almost every way.
I was SERIOUSLY disappointed in the remake I still stick to the snes version on ps vita via reteoarch :) same as FFVI but I usually play the psx version for the added features ☺️

And yes, the Thanatos/Dark Lich music in the original was actually MENACING and psychedelic and made you want to fight this beast in front of you.
No one does justice to Hiroki Kikuta's SoM soundtrack like you!

I don't want to see this channel die. I hope you will do more material soon, because this is by far the greatest VGM cover channel I've ever found in my life. Every song is recorded accurately without unnecessary showboating by adding a dozen notes that are not present in the original composition, but the inactivity lately has me worried. Hope everything goes well!

Man, why couldn't Square-Enix get something this good for the remake? The guy who arranged this track for the remake utterly butchered it.

What a stunning arrangement!
In contrast to FF6's militaristic Imperial town theme, this game's Imperial town theme is quite nice and suggests a wholesome and cozy life for at least most of the Empire's inhabitants.
EDIT: This song is used for when you're out and about in Southtown, Northtown, and Gold City, which are all Imperial towns, and the only such towns you can visit in the game. I use the word "town" as a generic term here. I'm clarifying this because I've had people give me grief in the past for calling it the "Imperial town theme'.
Seriously can never decide which song is THE Mana song for me...this or Star of Darkness. But jesus christ you just converted me to this one after, what, 25 years? Amaaaaaaaazing work dude!

Thanks! I do add a bit of flanger to the gambas, I feel like it gets a little closer to the synth choir sound of the original.

I love your channel, I really do. But in most of your renditions, there's almost always one little thing that irks me, that makes me go "argh, it's ALMOT accurate to the original but there's this ONE thing that's not perfect."
Not for this one. This one is perfect. It's as accurate as it can get. It's like Square sampled you back then. There is not a single wrong note, not a single error in the arrangement. I'm actually amazed you could do something so faithful to the original.
In terms of "reproducing the exact SNES score except with the real instruments that the SNES would mimick back then", this may very well be your masterpiece.
