You manage something here that no other orchestral arrangement I've heard has--you capture the beckoning longing in the harmonies of the flute/recorder that is otherwise only heard in Uematsu's original. I love everything you've put out so far (and you always pick my favorite pieces from every game), but this is your best work so far. Very well done!

I've been playing Final Fantasy since age 3 and the sixth always stood out to me when I was a kid. The soundtrack was always something that, at night when I'd hear my parent's arguing all the time I'd be able to listen to this as to get away. Hell this track in general during the World of Ruin with so much destitution. I work in the field right now during this pandemic and STILL this song reminds me of how ruined our world's become in the past five years over social media, not treating each other respectfully and with so many dying....hell at times even after catching COVID I thought I wouldn't get far with my wife and I's recovery. It's nice to come back home and hear this soundtrack from my childhood give me these cathartic feelings and even re-invigorate me for the next day. Great work, brother. Thank you for this cover and the rest of your Final Fantasy covers with it! Keep it up, you've gotten a subscriber out of me.
God those are some gorgeous quality recorders. Wow. This was such a pristine remake of the original, and other posters are right, the mandolin and recorders captured the wistful tragic quality so well
Thanks! I actually recorded it with 2 mics and used a small diaphragm farther up the neck, but I moved it off camera for the video portion. It helps that the guitar has a great sound too! It's made by a local luthier who's a retired wood worker with the help of his friend who's been repairing pre-war Martin guitars for decades.

I've been just trying to use a large diaphragm cardioid and find it picks up a lot more noise than I'd like. It also sounds very roomy but I suppose that's because I don't have a proper recording space.
That would be great! I don't have the brass players available to me to do it in the original orchestration at the moment, so I'll either have to find someone to record the parts for me or do a new arrangement of it.
