    How to reduce belly fat 10:32
    Reduce body fat percentage
    #2 14:48 train in a fasted state
    25:30 HIIT (high intensity interval training) burns as much fat as possible in as little time as possible
    Supplement #1: caffeine in powder or supplement form
    Supplement #2: Yohimbe( can only work to burn fat when you're in fasted state) high insulin levels render the fat burning useless
    Supplement #3:Synephrine

      Training in a fasted state has been debunked. Losing weight is about calories in calories out.

      @@Coach_Jose actually...calories in vs calories out has been debunked...you wouldn've known that! If you would've updated your knowledge. It's been tested that the lower insulin one has, the harder it is for fat cells it becomes for them to release their extra energy. Fast state is the activation of having lower insulin naturally. I've been working out fasted for years now. Was how I dropped 85 pounds, reduced my body fat percentage, reduced my mid section by 12 inches. It's simple as that. Along with my low carb to ketogenic lifestyle. I was used 3 years ago.

      @@Coach_Jose it’s actually a combination of calories in and hormone signals as to what to do with those calories vs calories out.
      Consuming 1900 calories of carbs will likely cause you to gain fat when expending 2000 calories a day while consuming 1900 calories of fat would allow you to lose bodyfat when expending 2000 calories in the same timeframe.

    I found doing OMAD really helped shed the fat. No kcal counting - nothing off the menu - No supplements - increased my NEAT, got more sleep - avoided stress as best I could, it took a little time to figure out what would sustain a 23 hour of not shovelling food down the throat and not feeling that hunger pains.
    Be the lab rat, and as for ANY advice that is dished out - Take what is useful, disregard what is not and adapt so it suits you.
    Thank you for uploading and sharing - even though that was 5 years ago. 😀

    Wow great information. There's just one thing I'm concerned I guess you could say. It's about the HIIT training. A newbie to fitness and weight loss world with no endurance experience would probably start HIIT right off the bat which can increase the risk of injury due to the body taxation of energy and also you have to know the proper moving mechanisms of your preferred cardio exercise. Just wanted to point that it

  • @altaimountain

    losing body fat is easy. Just stop eating. Numerous scientific studies demonstrate that during multiday fasting you won't lose any muscle. Your HG hormone goes up 1000-2000% after 1-2-3 days of complete fasting, so your body keeps muscle and goes after fat. Fasting also resets your body and mind, has neorogenerative quality, improves hormone function and etc.
    The silly idea of doing cardio for fat burn, I don't know where it came from. Most of your daily calory expenditure goes to maintaining normal bodily functions. doing more cardio or less cardio will have minimal effect comparing to just eating less. I do cardio for what it's meant for, or cardiovascular system. Feels good to breathe.

    • @svami108
      @svami108 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In general you right, but during fasting, we lose 60% of fat and 40% of muscle.
      An easy way to lose stubborn fat is the vegan diet.
      You can see as Frank Medrano looks like :)

    • @altaimountain
      @altaimountain 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      where did you get those numbers? There are lots of obese ppl fasting for 30-40 days without any significant muscle loss while sim. losing a lot of fat. For me the trick is that of course, the leaner you are the more muscle you'd lose while fasting but at least fasting doesn't produce the metabolic damage the aggressive calory restrictions tend to give you. I am experimenting with 4-5 day fasts to cut fat but I am lean already and I seem to lose quite a bit of strength during these fasts, maybe IF is better for me.

    • @svami108
      @svami108 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Body fat
      According to my Intelimetrix body fat device, 60% of the losses (7.2 pounds) I experienced during the first 8 weeks were fat pounds. The rest (4.8 pounds) was “lean mass.” I wasn't too worried about that. Lean mass is made up of all non-fat weight in the body, most of which is water." www.precisionnutrition.com/intermittent-fasting/chapter-4

    • @altaimountain
      @altaimountain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniël K yeah, man. ive been experimenting with long fasts now (5 days no food last time) and i cant say i enjoy it that much. There are guys out there who claim they go to work and function normally and have energy. i have to say, i dont have much energy while long term fasting and i do lose strength. i also noticed that i lose fat quite easy with IF while staying active and maintaining reasonably high levels of energy. nowadays i just bulk slowly with an eating window of 8-9 hours and planning to cut later with 4 h eating window. Long term fasting seems to be good for autophagy, so i guess i might do it still in the fututre, but as you also pointed, one (two) day fasts can be that sweet spot. i noticed that going one day without food is quite easy for me and sometimes it feels good to reset your body that way. its also good psychologically. i am gonna play around with this to see whats optimal for me.

    • @altaimountain
      @altaimountain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniël K thanks, man, good luck to you too. one thing ive learnt is there is so much BS in the youtube fitness, you have to think and try things for yourself, listen to your body and make your own conclusions. there isnt much science out there re fasting, so all of us are going through trial and error. nowadays theres lots of silly fads like ketogenic diets and other restrictive forms of eating. i usually look for scientific studies re any nutrition/training topic and try things on myself.

    A stupid question: At 18:05, you mentioned a study that showed that the blood flow in the abdominal region increases when training in a fasted state, which helps better mobilize fat cells. Based on this research finding, isn't it then useful to do more abs workouts to increase the blood flow to that region?

    • @MikeMatthewsFitness
      @MikeMatthewsFitness  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a stupid question! Mechanistically speaking maybe, but the actual effects in terms of fat burning would likely be so small that it won't matter.

    • @felipearbustopotd

    hey Mike, thanks for your video. One of the most complete in my opinion. I'd like to ask you, is it less effective to do the cardio immediately after you finish the heavy lifting in one single gym session, I mean to avoid going to the gym twice like you do and just go through one session of fasted cardio (I think I'm already answering myself) Anyway I'd like to hear your opinion, cause it's a hassle going twice to the gym. Thank you

Not running for too long because it will burn muscle for fuel. For exercise, walking everyday will burn fat better than running.

    stress will have an effect on cortisol which will have an effect on testosterone. this should have a direct effect on the fat loss. do you agree ? you also said that sugar is not the problem. To me, most of the people who have trouble to loose weight eat to much sugar and that creat eating disorder. there is no way to loise fat in that state. I dont have your experience but I see the power of the sugar industry and its effect...

    • @TacoStanMan
      @TacoStanMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The point he was making is that sugar itself doesn't have some magical, diabolically evil ability to inhibit fat loss more than any other caloric substance. It is easy to develop a sugar addiction (and you are correct in that the food industry very much uses that to their advantage) which in turn may lead to overeating, but the sugar itself does not have an impact on fat loss any more than other carbs, fat, or even protein does.

    • @AH-zz6ei

      TacoStanMan I do not agree at all with that. A calorie coming from protein is not the same as one coming from sugar (whatever it is). Of course we have to distinguish added sugar or natural sugar.
      The effect on hormones of what you eat and the micronutrients included in a food which contain 1g is important as well...

      You're still misunderstanding. Alcohol, for example, contains calories that have additional adverse effects beyond just being empty calories. Sugar cannot build or preserve muscle, but a sugar molecule itself will not inhibit fat loss other than having a positive caloric value. There are several INDIRECT effects of eating sugar (e.g., blood level spikes, less room for protein macros, etc.), but again, sugar itself does NOT inhibit fat loss.
      Think of it this way: If you meet your protein and fat macros, you can fill the rest of your remaining calories with sugar and still lose fat while preserving muscle.

      TacoStanMan do you agree that sugar is anti catabolic ?

    • @TacoStanMan
      @TacoStanMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhhh, that's a tough one to answer. I'd have to look into it again, but if I recall, it's kind of both. Sugar itself is anti-catabolic due to providing an energy source other than muscle. That's why it's recommended that you eat something with natural sugar in it post-workout w/ your protein (usually whey powder) to give your body the energy it needs while allowing the protein to be used for repairs. It's more complex than that, but that's the gist. However, the massive insulin spike caused by the sugar results in your body being far less capable of using fat as fuel when the crash comes, meaning muscle is far more likely to be catabolized during this time. But again, this is technically an indirect issue with sugar.
      I want to reiterate that I need to brush up on the subject so I might have a couple details slightly wrong or missing.

      I was going to leave a sarcastic, wise-ass remark, but I'm feeling generous today, so I won't be an asshole. Here's the deal: always check the description.
      Mr. Mike always has sources, and 99% of the time the description is where sources are listed for TH-cam videos.
      Cheers.

    Hmmmm... he keeps saying he's going to tell us all about this "science of losing belly fat," but I'm pretty far in, and so far, all I've heard are the usual tropes: Everything you're doing is wrong, and I'm about to tell you how to do it right, and it's all going to be very easy, and here's a website to buy my products... And now, without further ado, I'm going to tell you the information... you see, everything you're doing is wrong, and I'm going to tell you how to do it right, and it's all very easy... by the way, have you heard about these products we're selling? Anyways, time to get to the information... Everything you're doing is wrong, and I'm going to tell you how to do it right with this information I'm about to tell you about products you can buy at my website...

      Jesse Cole Huh? Sorry you must of been watching twinmuscle, because he clearly went into the details regarding how fat loss works, myths, ways to combat it, even links studies to what he talking about. He even says you can buy the things he recommends separately. You must feel pretty stupid right now.

      Are you kidding me? I'm 9 minutes in and he has already explained that you cant target belly fat specifically and why it is so stubborn.
      And since you can't target it specifically it's probably gonna come out to, you're gonna have to just decrease your overall body fat percentage to a low enough level.

      literally like 3 minutes later - bring down body fat percentage to 10% that's how you lose most of the belly fat. maybe you'll get more out of these videos if you actually listen to them, lol

    I lost weight the fastest while preserving muscle with this diet. Mostly a high vegetable diet with some fruit and keep protein and fat minimal. The protein myth has been debunked. Carbohydrates are muscle sparing. So don't train fasted. Eat 4-6 small meals a day and no fasting. Not running for too long because it will burn muscle for fuel. For exercise, walking everyday will burn fat better than running. Light lifting only while on this shredded diet. If you don't have much fat to lose you will see your abs in about 3 weeks with consistant workouts.

    It's easy to burn fat & i reached my ideal weight in less than 3 months without using any fat burning supplements nor going to a gym. I just do Keto diet. No need to exercise at all. I just do house chores that's all. My belly is flat already. It takes some patience to burn all the stubborn belly fat but in the end all 6 packs can be seen. No waste of money going to a gym nor having to buy fat burning supplements. No 16/8 fasting as well. Just plain Keto.

    I am sorry but I have to disagree with you there is to big error with this video the first one is bodycombestion and the second one is you didn't mention you shouldn't do everything at once
    maybe this will help you if you a guy or a girl in your 20 with 10 kg extra body fat but this is not that helpful if you were a man or woman in your 30 or 40 with 30+kg
