One pet peeve I have is when a character get seriously hurt and the ramification of it isn't shown outside of their emotional state. The most popular trope I see of this is when a character gets their eye slashed or taken out and has no issue with depth perception or macular atrophy, they just feel a bit sad about it.
Literally Scar in the video, he gets scratched once and blinks it off like huh!? Idk but if that happened to me, I'd be babying the cut until I eventually get used to it. There definitely has to be a level of empathy needed for such scenes, and I don't mean empathy as in caring lol but empathy as in putting yourself in the character's shoes
One things I appreciated about Rwby is they at least dabbled a little into things like this when Yang lost her arm and had to get used to using a mechanical prosthetic arm. It wasn't much but at least they did acknowledge it.
I have a lot of suffering in my story, guy dies, and later while his girlfriend is packing his stuff up she finds a ring. A paranoid character finally letting another character close and becoming romantically involved, just to find out he was a mole and it leaves her with a facial scar. Another character who had….bad parents and had hopped to redeem them, accidentally kills her mother, her father then attacks leaving a large scar across her face.
Me: **brewing up a new main character** oh no, I need the character to develop in this story! Also me: **grabs the bottle labeled "3 in 1: trauma, social ineptitude and copium"** so, this will be the character base, I just have to add the flavor...
i have this oc who was raised in a very corrupt land in which she was trained into this unit of child soldiers sort of, but they don't do the big jobs. And so her and another guy end up running away but he gets hurt in the process and is left basically paralysed from the waist down so she tries to care for him for a bit but realises its too expensive and turns back to crime in which she begins to be very paranoid and she ends up killing a little kid and then turns her friend into the police and goes rogue from everyone. umm i should really start writing it again
dude that's literally my favorite types of dystopian stories, write it and link it to me omg! But like omg what does she do with the friend then? If he's paralyzed who's taking care of him??? That's a tough call to make tbh
I think that the most painful moment for my character who happens to be fighting crime, is when she's finally going to confess her feelings to the guy she likes but when she arrives at the restaurant he works at and asks for him, an employee tells her some big guys that seemed like criminals took him. They described the guys and she figured it was the leader of the criminal organization she was fighting, her face changed almost immediatly from nervous smile to a really worried face. She shares the info with her collegues and besides their warnings of not looking for him, she goes. Then don't ask how she arrives to the place, where she sees the guy she likes full of bruises in a room alone, but then a big fancy guy enters the room, they get into a thrilling fight and the guy she likes gets killed in the process, so she gets really mad and kills the dude, but then realizes what she's done and begins questioning her morals and leaves the place all sad, frustrated and ashamed
I audibly gasped, omg that's so sad! With characters like yours, that's truly something that'll stick with you for life. I'm sure she's asking questions to herself like "How did they know I liked him, what gave it away," "Can I be close to anyone again," and ofc the worst one, "Is it my fault he's dead." these are all disheartening and sad questions that the character has to ask going forward, and makes for an interesting story on top of a tragedy! Anyways I love your story!
I told my friends how one of my joyous immortal characters’ immovable fate is to suffer and all his attempts to change his fate only make his predicament worse and they told me theres some kind of unspoken evil in me Your artstyle is beautiful btw!
Lmao I don't think your evil, it's just fun to do the snowball effects with characters, the hell doesn't stop until you say so 💀 Also awww thank you so much I can cry 😭💕
My oc has INMENSE religious trauma, they grew up in a cult and are still in it as a semi-active member. Over time as they spilt from the temple, they start referring to it as the cult rather then the temple more and more over time, showing how they realise what the cult has done to them, as well as how the people around them can see their life in a different perspective
That’s a great idea!! Make sure to read up about people who survived cults cuz I see some of those stories and even taking in consideration that it’s fantasy, it’s sooo unrealistic, lol. I mean, do whatever the heck you want tho
Definetly agree with sleepingClouds! Reading up on cults is so interesting and how their trauma is so deeply ingrained into their story! Your story btw sounds hella interesting!
Me and my friend always essentially make our characters suffer and endure pain. Both physically and physiologically in terms. We just can’t stop traumatizing our characters 😂 But again, as someone who wants to thoroughly create good stories that strike people specifically. The pain those characters would be experiencing are majorly apart of their stories and it makes sense. My one character Teriā(Ling Yue) is essentially the most broken down and thoroughly lost character. While trying to find inner peace and manage throughout his own life with his close trusted friends or family. It causes him internal problems and issues, things he can’t understand or really fully process. He believes that to make sense of everything is to hurt others or himself to find the best in himself. He was abused, neglected, and essentially bullied growing up. And he doesn’t specifically understand what to do that his stuck in turmoil that he doesn’t want to acknowledge. Which is facing his past and confrontation of the pain he endured. Obviously, more characters suffer and endure pain from other things then just that. But the 1% that they get hurt accidentally because of his own mistakes or because he can’t understand anything. It adds to what is happening when it’s necessarily needed. This might thoroughly but it’s essentially a start.
I like that your character, Teriā has a story behind the way he acts! I believe that it definitely makes the character growth that much stronger! A fight for inner peace while at the same time managing interpersonal relationships such as friends and family. It just makes for a good story all and all!
I'm gonna write a character, she's a witch in the academy that's so unlucky and miserable she gets beat up by her own familiars, and her classmates accidentally nuke her every once in a while, which leads to a corruption arc, she joins the bad guys and she's doing much better there too
I wrote a manic pixie dream boy love interest then gave him a tragic military past. A good hurt cocktail, added some emotional, soceital and even physical pain and it still affects his life
Nah man I just clicked the title because I have no damn idea to tackle trauma in a respectful way or even decide whether it's really necessary 😟(literally have not touched my ocs since nine years of age, and can't even think up a decent story to come with em) Also, I'm new here and loving your perspective and you content!
You aren’t going to find out how to if you don’t make mistakes. Also unless you’re writing a book or making professional publish work literally does not matter.
I have an oc who turned to a life of crime to afford medicine for their child, only for their child to get hurt from that crime. So like, the child's gonna be negatively affected either way and there's nothing the parent can do to protect them
my main OC has a big scar on her face and a missing toe from test flights, also because she's very reckless but at the same time extremally lucky. The "lucky idiot" trope I guess. Being indoctrinated into a militaristic society she's even proud of them and flaunts them like they're medals. Once the emotional trauma of real war kicks however it's not so "fun and games"anymore.
@@Rosemadi.artist like monster of the week but instead of just monsters it’s collecting ancient artifacts from ancient forgotten places kinda Idk I made the characters when I was 8 so I wasn’t the best writer 💀
This universe hopping deathloop is pretty fun ngl (none of them are ok) When the suffering is existential and has a literal god behind it is when some of my favorite things happen, i have 13 ocs that all represent some sort of aspect about being human and all exist with the same curse, they cannot die, and they cannot stay in any one world. I love writing them honestly, theyre also gay.
One of my old favorite sayings that people told me to stop saying but Imma stand by it, "Dying is not the worst thing to happen to someone." Anyways your story sounds pretty interesting tbh!
Most of the characters in my main world died and came back to life but without any memories from their past life. They slowly regain their memories though and slowly process how much they lost along with them. 🥰 I love tormenting them with turmoil, fear, and self blame.
Omg at that point it's like trying to decide what's worse? Not being able to remember things, or being able to remember some trauma. I feel for your OCs! 😭
I will say in the walking dead it is canon in the tv show and comic that cutting a bite off fast enough does mean you survive. Think Reggie in season 2. Lee waited almost a whole day. The part about Clem living that was BS was the fact that he was able to cut it off with that axe and she lived without bleeding out or anything
i once made an oc for a roleplay and i decide hmmmm he doesnt have enough pain so i drowned him just to save him and remove his legs to make him wheelchair bound idk what happened in my younger brain lmao
I needed this!! I’m writing multiple stories, based off Greek mythology and fairytales, so I don’t exactly torture just ocs (my main character in my current project is the god Apollo), and he uh… does not have a good life because, as a immortal, everyone he gets close to dies, the other gods kinda hate him because he copes by making jokes and they think he’s annoying because of it, and his father is uh… not a good person, and mistreats him. However, I do have ocs who have gone through literal Tartarus (the most terrifying part of the Greek underworld), were outcasted because of their powers, were manipulated and mind controlled, grew up in a neglecting household, and uh… a lot more I think my characters hate me? 😅
Your characters indeed hate you, and my characters hate me as well 😭if they ever found out and cornered us, we'd be screwed! But I think you're worse off cause they're literal Greek gods lmao. Anyways I'm glad this video helped! It's always fun to torture your OCs so they can come back out of it emotionally and physically stronger! Did you hear that Apollo? Mirithe is just trying to make you strong 😭💕
@ Well, at least in my book Apollo got turned human and only has healing powers now cause otherwise I would be in danger. Though he is quite dangerous with a bow, in the time he’s from, archery was considered cowardly and he hates being called a coward, so he doesn’t tend to use it while mortal. Though I’m not sure I’d be safe from his sister Athena- well she gets her best friend back from the dead at least.
@@Rosemadi.artist I didn’t do anything too bad to Athena, honestly. While Apollo’s mess is a bit more my interpretation, in the actual myths, Athena lost her best friend Pallas, a water nymph, in a sword fight. Athena and Apollo’s father, Zeus, was afraid Athena would lose and directed the sunlight in Pallas eyes, distracting her. And in my story, as the sun is Apollo’s domain, Athena was under the impression Apollo did it out of jealousy because he couldn’t form connections like she did. So it’s planned to be a hard hitting scene when Athena finds out the person she’s traveling with is actually Apollo. She says some horrible things, and even after the two make up, Apollo repeats it in his mind over and over, because he makes a connection with someone and then they call him a monster, which is something he’s thought of himself as his entire life. His arc is focused on accepting himself and learning to love himself. Athena’s is to start feeling and interacting again because she shut people out for a long time.
Okay I understand Athena's suffering a bit more now! But I think that's super interesting how you take existing myth and your interpretation of myth to create a story! How much of your story is unique and how much of it is your interpretation :0
One of my MCs gets killed at the climax of the first arc of my story. Though not really. They're still alive, the aspects of their soul splintered across the world and constantly being forced to do nothing but *think.* Reliving their life decisions, their final moments, their regrets, all while each aspect is being hunted down, revived, and killed again/captured by the antagonists, causing all of the pain and hate to fester and accumulate within them.
My OC that has suffered the most is definitely Mae / Maertisa, and very long story short she was kicked out of her family when she was young because her father believed that she was not his. An alien race then visits her planet (it’s a Star Wars type universe) and pick her up to bring her with them. Skipping some details, the alien race is very inhuman, and she realizes that because of some lore she is turning into one of them, so her head basically explodes into a skull type thing, matching the rest of the race- almost. Her struggle is that she can’t seem to fit in with her native species or the aliens that she lives with. She also eventually kills her dad and I piled a lot of irony into the whole design. Yes this is an excuse to ramble about one of my OCs, thank you :D
Omg I feel like my videos are a chance to ramble about my OCs so you know what? This is just the OC talk space haha. Anyways I always love those types of stories that involve assimilating to a new place. If you ever study intercultural communication and the psychology behind it, I believe it'll definitely add on to an already awesome sounding story!
So I made this oc back last year during my massive warrior cats hyperfixation, basically her story is her mom is negligent, her sister is better in every way and she’s pissed about it, gets manipulated by some random cat to try and kill her sister, fails, gets exiled, lives with this random cat, gets pissed, runs off to try and go back to her clan, dies of hypothermia, and has to watch her niece fall victim to the same cat that ruined her, tries to stop her niece, fails, and then she dies a second time (bc cats can do that in warrior cats I guess) and that’s the end 😭😭
You know, one thing that I've gathered from listening to you warrior cats fans is that there's a lot of suffering that happens within, especially when it comes to your OCs omg 😭😭 I kinda wanna get into warrior cats cause it seems like a lot of people on my channel come from there and if that's the case maybe I'd enjoy the fandom too
@@Rosemadi.artist oh yeah, definitely, we give them as much trauma as they can plausibly have 😭😭 And regarding getting into warrior cats, imo the first series is great, the second series was kinda mediocre and had some weird romance stuff between some of the characters that I didn’t much care for, and the third series is pretty great as well, the books have a tendency to be really slow in the beginning though and take like 100 pages to pick up the pace and get interesting. Overall in terms of actual quality of the books I give them a 6/10 :P and the fandom is pretty chill, hasn’t been much drama in a few years since most of the fans moved onto other things and/or just matured a little bit Sorry this is so long I just have a lot to say 💀👍
The most amount of suffering I’ve given my characters are with the death of my MCs older sister, she started out as a villain but tried to be better but the main villain made her into a mindless monster that the MC and his friend had to kill. It’s not only the MC it impacts as a lot of characters had a past with her making her death an important part to both motivate the main crew but also shake the loyalty of the people working for the villain. And as someone who’s been bitten by rodents a lot I laughed a bit at your rat bite. I understand why you didn’t want to research wounds but funny thing with rodents is that because the teeth can go very deep it can look like a bloodbath but when it stops bleeding it’s usually just a pair of parallel lines (except for the one time a hamster bit my finger so hard it left three holes, had to keep smiling for the customer thought and just hide my hand) Woo to 3 am rants!
i didn't even realise this was 30 mins youve somehow captured my adhd brain i was multitasking but still! i usually get bored at the 20 min mark unless its a special interest thats impressive
I'm currently writing a series based on a series I used to enjoy and I was actually having troubles making my characters suffer and when I stumbled upon your video and I'm learning so much here.
Not the worst thing my mc has been through but- probably the easiest to talk about Evian almost being murdered by their old bestie who doesn't know its them and is being gaslit into believing that Evian is dead and THAT is who killed them.... or The Many almost being torn apart by the lonaque after getting reckless in their anger and nearly splitting apart- them being multiple people held together only by MAJIK this was a nuh uh. Or Samsara attempting to return to her mothers aid just to have her mother turn on her and try to KILL her because she is part of the Many now. OR Evian's best friend Amy being burned alive and Evian absolutely DARTING to save her but not making it. OR! Evian being "questioned" with their will power and consciousness slowly degrading! OOORRR!? Evian going through tons of effort to find their birth parents and family only to see they are happy without them and would be better off without their baggage and CHOOSING TO LEAVE- I am so nice to Evian!
Can you give me Evian's contact? I will personally pay for their therapy omg, especially after the birth parents part, that's just salt in the wound right there!
First off I just wanna start with thank you!?! I feel like I’ve heard a lot of information in bits and pieces and such before, but seeing it all lashed out so smoothly and in an interesting way was genuinely so good *chefs kiss* I mostly have a little world im working on right now, and the one that comes the most to mind is definitely a gal I have named Iyaxeb (or Iya). I’m still working out the kinks of the story, but in general she comes from a very military focused family, or born warriors. She’s immediately the best in fight prowess ahead of the class kind of vibe. As a part of this family, she is supposed to wear any scars they have with pride, but as the story goes on and it’s grows older she starts feels the opposite: I.e. ugly compared to the rest of society + the buildup of littered scars become a burden, and a reminder to iya’s same family that clings so tightly to her status as “powerful” and “undefeated in combat”. She still wants to have her own voice, or say in these matters but she’s often held back by this same golden child standard. Her last battle ends with a freak accident - and she (lil gorey) gets her face scarred with a missing eye and jaw blown clean off. Now obviously this is a point of turmoil for her physically, but even MORE so mentally as it’s a representation of how she can’t even “speak out” if she wanted to or not. On top of that, her family doesn’t seem to care about the injury itself and her personal pains - as long as she’s alive she can continue to be a valuable military asset. (Dw tho, she ends up happy :3 I simply love destroying ocs and then building them back up from square one truly 😭)
Omg then it's a good thing that Iya has a happy ending cause I truly feel bad for her! This definitely falls into the societal pressure category, specifically family pressure which is 10x worse cause what else can you do? Who else can you rely on? And if they're saying you need to be a military asset and you need to wear your scars, how can you even question it. Yeah, your story sounds hella interesting tbh! Also I'm glad you like the video!!
I like putting my ocs through a process I would call fabricated person Basically some fourth wall breaking shit where they go into a deep mental breakdown Or I’ll make them relive the same death over and over I’m one of those guys who REALLY likes to fuck up his ocs 4:31 baby :)
Idk why I'm literally imagining that one scene from spongebob (The episode "Doing Time") where Mrs. Puff hallucinates crashing like 5 times towards the end of the episode. That shit could really break someone mentally lmao also I hate you for letting me see that Invincible clip again >:')
@@Rosemadi.artist ah well I also like the idea of someone being trapped in there head while something controlling them makes them do horrific things that they are forced to watch I’m a sucker for horror art It could be basic blood half dead or it could be someone ripping apart their own body I’ll quite literally sit in class and think of trauma I can give my ocs also these examples sound so “bawking” stupid when I type them out
Well for my current victim, Teras who is one of the "villains" in my story, hes the most traumatized. Throughout 28 generations, there has been a deadly virus that kills the host immediately when transferred. The only reason it can be transferred is either giving birth or transferring it to something of stronger power(this method isnt descovered until Teras. When Teras was born, the virus transferred to him, meaning his mom dropps dead(dad was the carrier but died through hankypanky cause hes transferring it). So this man was born without his parents and all the pain, anger, and trauma that his ancestors ahd to endure, push into Teras' small developing brain. Thats a lot for a newborn and the first thing he thinks to do is scratch the living hell outta himself. He doesnt know the virus is causing this, he just knows somethin inside him is in pain. In shorts, no matter how many times Teras tries to kick the bucket, the virus never lets it, pretty much sayin "You dont die on your own terms, but mine" Anyways, with the memories, he realizes he doesnt want anyone to feel this pain so he secludes himself and refuses to get close to people, that was until he was 17, the bird guy shows up and is like "We're friends now" and spends the next decade helping Teras deal with his trauma in healthier ways instead of hurting others out of anger. Long story short, they both fall in love at age 27 and when they share their first kiss(theyve neve touched in the 10 years of meeting), the virus gets pissed off and kills the bird guy immediately. Already broken by what just happened, Teras is in a bad spot. And a few years go by, a small teenager(Ometz) that looks nearly identical to the bird guy shows up. This was the infecteds game, to completely break him til he feels nothing
Damn, I've never hated a virus more than this one that I'm reading about now. It almost sucks too for Teras cause he spent 17 years telling himself that he needs to be secluded. And then the one person he decided to get close to ends up dead. And after like 10 years of build up too. That's like tragic as heck. He was broken before, basically disintegrated now omg. How does the bird guy's family/friends feel about this, if they even have any
@Rosemadi.artist So birdguy(decided his name is Paulo) Paulo is from Brazil, he has a hugeee family, in the beginning, no one could get ahold of Paulo, not even his mom and he never misses a call or text from her regardless of what situation he's in. Days turn to weeks which is turning into months, parts of Paulos family have given up but his little brother and mom are refusing to, desperate to find their kin. The sad thing is, he left home a year before meeting Teras(age 16), he left because he started changing. The virus was already slowly getting its hold on him and Paulo just assumed he was sick, despite the fact his ears were ripping apart and replacing with wings of feathers. He didn't know what was going on and he refused to let his family be affected by this. His transformation started 13 years before the virus started its attack. The virus took control over 2 people before anything got serious for the sole reason was it needed them as its puppets. Long rant aside, the virus has power to transfer its fumes however it pleases, whether it's taking over people or killing them. In Paulos case, it sent cracked pieces of Paulos face to the doorstep of his mother's room, knowing she'd have the biggest reaction and activate the fumes that were inside her(turning her into one of the infected monsters) Oh and fun fact the virus has different ways of killing, for Paulo it was an instant kill, and if you seen that traumatizing cat short film where the sick cats crack and break, that's basically what happened and why I mentioned the virus sending cracked pieces of Paulos face
Now it's making me wonder why this virus is beefing so hard. Like literally what happened 28 generations ago that this virus decided it was going to make the entire bloodline suffer including anyone who literally gets involved that's so terrifying
Twin unit robots, both with separate mentors, one having a really good mentor and the other having two absolute dog water mentors that are training them to be fighting machines. The second one ends up failing last minute while the first is propped up as one of the greatest war machines of all time, protecting everyone and having the ability to spawn a whole forest out of destroyed battle grounds. The mentors end up being killed, big sad for the First, but relief for the Second. Until they have to train up some new power houses and First, grieving, is not in a good head space to do so and that leaves Second to do everything. The mentees are tricked at one point and end up killing the First, unlocking a failsafe in Second that kills them and leaves Second disoriented and on the run from the Riders they had helped design, build, and nurture hunting them. They get caught and shut down for way too long because the executioner had to deal with a big problem at the time and long story short, now Second is imprisoned at the bottom of a new, all-encompassing ocean until the facility rots enough under the water for them to wake up and swim away. They go on a soul searching journey in this land now entirely populated by various robots and weird creatures and it turns out both of the siblings were important enough to be ascended to "godhood", amoung others, through people just talking about and believing enough about them to just force them into that vacuum. One popular story being the one their sibling died in. And it turns out the Riders lasted this long and they hold grudges, so now they're disguising themselves and building a new identity as an explorer that winter just happens to follow behind. But that's manageable. Then one of the new hires on a crew that Second hired looks way too much like First and they share the same name as their sibling. But they talk all about stories of adventures that First went on that they heard in their early years. And First is dead and they have a scar in ths exact location as the fatal blow so someone probably; 1. Managed to raid First's "grave" and recycle the body or 2. Someone is way too big of a fan of the myths and made an exact replica of the body for their kid. Neither of these comforting to Second, who just wants to live their life cataloging the new animals without the sense of dread coming back.
First is my favorite btw and is not allowed to experience the same amount of trauma any of my previous ocs have faced, so that means it is all dumped on Second, who I also love, so they get an animal companion.
It seems like your OCs are going through a lot of trauma and growth with no breaks haha, and I like those kinds of stories because then you can really connect with the characters since you've seen where they've been and where they're going! I also like the fact that when they do go on that soul searching journey, they find out more about their importance and place in life! Robots make for great protagonists in my opinion, this story sounds so great so far!
I just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! I'm currently writing a story and this certainly helped me, especially since there will be a lot of trauma and character development in future chapters! The most trauma one of my ocs has ever been through is probably London (Although I haven't gotten to that part of the story yet). His mother, who is of the dragon species, is having her fourth pregnancy. But during this time, humans invade their land. London flies home as fast as he can to get his family out of the line of fire, but it's revealed that he was too late. He finds his mother dead, she was harpooned multiple times in the neck, stomach, and wings. He'll have to deal with his losses and pull through his trauma for the better of the world, and to save his friends. (He's also only a side character.)
i have multiple ocs competing for the worst physical and mental suffering but i think i'll just stick with what i've put one particular oc through 😭 his name is evelyn and his bloodline was cursed with misfortune (a lot of the people in his family suck anyway) after a great great great grandma had a witch be burned at the stake. some of the things his been through: • his mother attacking him and leaving him needing a glass eye • his brother becoming his primary caretaker (his brother sucks and lives to become a serial killer, only to die at his own concert) • bullying • poverty • almost died on multiple occasions for reasons ranging from being almost smooshed by a dresser as a kid to almost being hit by cars • killed someone on accident (it was a creature that looked human, he had no clue) ik it seems like i made him just for him to be edgy and perpetually kicked by the universe but i swear he gets his peace and healing arc I SWEARR
Nawr I believe you lol! But yeah Evelyn's trauma is definitely a harsh one because it almost does seem like the world is kicking him, and a lot of these things seem out of his control, which I argue, makes it better!
This is some really good advice that I'm definitely going to use for future chars. I used to struggle alot with coming up with trauma for my characters, but being around other creators/artists who tend to traumatize the character if not a little too much definitely helps! As for current characters who have suffered, my friend and I have our own Zombie Apocalypse RP and in that RP I play my OC Mallory who, on the first day the apocalypse started, was on a bus with her school when they get into a bad car accident, going off a small cliff. Basically no one in her class but her survives, and if there were any survivors, they were quickly biten and turned into a zombie like Mallory was. Unlike Mallory though, they didn't gain sentience, so on-top of her own trauma from her past, my girl also has to deal with the fact that she's turning into a flesh-eating monster. All in all fun times 🥲👍
Zombie stories are like my all time favorite types of stories, because when it comes down to the wire, it really shows the suffering that comes with survival. All the things that you used to know, are now gone and now you have to take it day by day. I can't imagine the hell of being a sentient zombie omg
I tend to take my own problems and feelings and dump them on my characters but change it up a lot but not enough to where I can't relate. Like two characters of mine have my very empathetic, loving and understanding side but twisted different ways, with one being an obsessive fangirl of everyone and wanting to know all about them (she sounds scary but she's really just harmless and sweet) and the other being too understanding and forgiving to the point she is currently dead in the story because her best friend killed her on accident after a big fight they had. They don't sound too similar but at the end of the day, they both tend to be too forgiving and caring to others that treat them poorly. For most I notice a pattern that most of my characters I focus a lot on tend to have underlying themes of loneliness and wanting someone to care/love them, which makes sense since I had the typical middle child experience of being overlooked 😅
Oh no not the middle child 😭😭😭 but anyways omg the best writing tip that literally everyone and their mom knows is "Write what you know" it's the best tip because it's the most organic XD I'd be lying if I said that I didn't inject my own personal experiences into my own story! Anyways themes of loneliness, care, and love are good! But omg your OCs are killing each other 😭😭 My OCs kill each other too.
All the characters I wrote suffers according to how much evil stuffs they had done. Equality, lmao. My favourite thing to write is two old friends fighting who neither of them are right or wrong, just two broken guys. :) Forgot to add, your art style looks gorgeous. It looks bright and cheerful, and lineless art is probably one of the hardest to draw. Shading is top notch too. :D
Those are always my favorite kinds of stories deserved comeuppance + characters that aren't right or wrong definitely create the best nuanced stories! Also thanks haha, if you email me I can send you the speedpaint of my thumbnail! In reality I just use a sketch layer, lower the opacity, then draw lineless underneath!
@@Rosemadi.artist You know, sometimes simplify is the best. :D I always had to redraw the lines because most of the characters are one coloured- Yeah, writing the characters who were equally hurt is entertaining. Because the one guy's perspective of the situation is completely blank, but he was aware something had happened. Nobody knew what happened except for the other guy and his friend. While the other one's perspective only had been told pieces through his friend's thought. The other guy is like "Yeah, I don't want to talk about whatever happens because people might change my opinion. :P"
I really need this, since my main character and her partner are kinda bland. I want them to have as much interest as the 3 main villains in my story, who I’ve all developed already along with one-two side characters who have also been developed. Since my main character goes through…uhhh let’s say some drama to keep it light, it’s good to know what she could act like after to process her emotions and how she feels once it’s said and done :]
totally rooting for your story! Since they are the main characters they definitely have to be as developed as the villains haha. But yeah most of the hell happens after the big main trauma event happens!
Before I watched this video, my friends told me to stop adding more trauma to my favorite OC After watching this video, they're going to suffer a lot _more_ :) If you want to keep reading about the OC, feel free to read more! :D The OC in question is a succubus who happens to be on the aroace spectrum. The main reason why they're on the spectrum is simply the fact that they just. Don't really feel the love society says everyone feels. Another reason is that they have Trauma from a cult they were coerced to join back when they were in their preteens. They have two identical scars on the corners of their lips, which were caused by the fact that they had their mouth sewn shut for a while. It's to show that they weren't allowed to speak up in the cult or inform any outsiders that the cult exist. After they managed to escape the cult, they were kidnapped by scientists. Cliche, I know. But it does impact their appearances quite a bit. From someone who had long and rather feminine white hair with a single black strand in the middle of their bangs, black horns, tail and wings, and bright blue eyes to what's basically an inversion of them. Short sort-of boyish black hair with a single white strand, white horns, tail, and wings, and dark brown/almost black eyes. I don't have many permanent scars/injuries on the character yet, but I think it's alright for now!
I will always support the sacred art of torturing your OCs for the sake of their growth lmao, but anyways cults are super interesting when tied to suffering, because there's always that psychological pain that justifies the physical pain, making it all worse for the character! And then later to be kidnapped by some scientists 😬😬😬they truly catch no breaks, but hey, I guess that's the time for your succubus OC to decide whether or not to take action since they didn't really have it in the cult!
There's a weird mechanic in my project (not the main one but it still matters) where "the good guys" (the ones the mc belongs to), when exposed to a certain magic condition I wouldn't explain for the sake of simplicity, by the villain in the form of a lightning bolt, increase in size and get a visual distortion of their power (power aesthetic matters to the single user in this world) kind of resembling titans from AoT but less ugly. This character named Konrad who can generate cacti from his body gets struck by one just because a Villain wanted to test the power that grants those magic bolts to generate. Did I mention that the gigantic monster cannot be controlled by the person, inflicts excruciating pain to them and only targets his friends/comrades/allies and never does that to villians/civilians? That is precisely what happens, he gets enveloped by this enormous representation of the judgment of anubi that spawns crocodiles at his feet, killing some people from his village. He is defeated by a woman who, during the backstory, decided to follow him and be his torment until he would've dropped and gave up his power. As a result, the poor guy does survive, but just like every survivor of this traumatic event, he is traumatized for life and gets absurd pain on a regular basis (I have yet to decide how frequent it is). I was kind of cruel with this character and I used him to introduce this important piece of information in the story. Summing up his backstory since he got his power: -father is a pathetic coward, doesn't even protect his child and states he wouldn't give his life for him -villain woman (her name is Rebecca so that's how ill call her) targets him and wants to correct his behavior by force, raids his house, finds his son not being able to enter the bedroom where he closed himself with his wife -konrad is threatened by some underlings without the woman's permission, acts by instinct and hits one of them, awaking the power and accidentally murdering him. - Rebecca is shocked and turns her focus to him, decides to torment him for she thinks Konrad is the byproduct of his disgusting father. -the traumatic thunder accident happens, Rebecca is able to defeat him and thinks it's all Konrad's doing. She feels like a hero and is thought so by some people in the village. -at this point, the poor guy has to leave the village and eventually, after stumbling upon his nemesis some other time and facing his absurd physical pain, he finds the main cast and is healed of the wounds. He now hopes he can get a normal existence. The real problem after this whole essay is that this should've been a side character, and it's more developed than some of the main ones. 🤔
Hey I'm all for characters like Konrad who are supposed to be side characters but get way so much lore and development! Even if he's not the main character I think it's great because it can really show what the world holistically is capable of to those who inhabit it! And it sounds like Konrad has been through hell too! I like especially that even though the pain is "gone" per se, it still sticks with him!
i have an oc that has suffered through a lot, his name is neo. he has one of them eye scars, his parents pressured him into believing into the cult they ran, but once his mother found out about it she decided to stab his left eye out because "you believe you're better than everyone else" and "you know too much about the cult" it led him to being insecure to show his left eye and used eye patches to cover it, he also developed anxiety and became paranoid about it and it still affects him till this day another oc of mine has witnessed and suffered from a death of a loved one, his name is clio, he has witnessed his father taking his younger brothers life and constantly blames himself due to the guilt of "why didn't i sacrifice myself instead of my brother" it led to him into sh himself, hes now doing better but still has constant nightmares of the day his brother died fun fact about these two ocs, they're dating and they often go on dates at the aracde neo owns :]
Well that's a good thing that they're both dating because hopefully they can be strong together! It makes me wonder though if they're the type of relationship to openly talk about these things, or do they ignore it to talk about how rigged the Subway Surfers arcade cabinet is. Anyways love the lore and this story!
the worst suffering my ocs been through.... *Trauma flashbacks* how do you want me to arrange that? alphabetical, numerical, or chronological order? ... um... how to put it without spoilers to something i plan to publish... Kicked out of her home, reality shattered, cursed to become and lose herself to a monster she's already had ptsd over, cant even get away from it when shes normal due to a facial scar, tortured for it, all the while going to war then ending up accidently cursing someone she loves to the same fate... I may have overdone things a smidge XD on the bright side, she does get a happy ending in the end... way... way in the end... :x
Ah you need to publish already cause I'm totally intrigued by the story, but from what I see so far, it's like your character goes through many forms of suffering and has a happy ending. Win-win? 😭 I mean win-win for the audience, not for the character lol
@@Rosemadi.artist oh id like to 😁 Though the concept i have in mind takes a lot of build up, and I'm having a bit of trouble getting that build up sorted out (i keep finding myself writing the more interesting middle and end parts... :x) I basically wanted to toy with the idea of a truly good character having a negative arc, simply because she didn't properly understand human nature, and the curse kind of... forces her to face that, you could say. when she realized how messed up the world is, she's forced to confront it due to her morals, but questions whether she's doing it because she really believes her actions (which she herself sees as barbaric at times due to a warped upbringing,) are just, or if the curse is slowly corrupting her mind, to the point that even she starts to think of herself as a villain. Luckily, she does meet someone who helps her find her way back onto a positive character arc, though, not without a lot of challenges, slip ups and potential backsliding along the way... but hey, challenges make stories fun 🤣
My oc got her leg ripped off and her eye gouged out whilst being 17 and was in a coma until she was roughly 22, making her socially undeveloped so adding on mental trauma as well :D
Since we're talking about ocs, my ocs Linda and Jacob have sexual trauma, theyre both trying to heal through life together but sometimes Linda's mental state falls down a bit too low. I cant say if they have fully healed, just gonna say that they have focused on other problems. Their abusers have tried getting back in contact with them, but they refuse everytime hehe. Some effects that their trauma has left on them are: Linda- She's uncomfortable with femininity and covers up a lot Jacob- He's always aware of his surroundings and has paranoia. I would write more but idk if people really want a 500+ word paragraph
That's definitely a realistic reaction after going through all that, it affects someone's way of life that the abuser would've never imagined when causing the trauma. But I wonder now, are Linda and Jacob aware that their trauma has led to discomfort in femininity and paranoia
My OC, JaggedHawk (JaggedPaw at the time, yes this is Warrior cats it's a ragdoll cat) got abused by their mentor. On one full moon, after being denied going to the gathering due to a particularly bad outing (wounds), their mentor CraneTuff (A LaPerm) snuck them out (as the medicine cats wouldn't let them just leave) to have a bit of "fun". In a fit of rage from the moons of abuse (idk like 3 maybe) JaggedPaw killed them and threw them in a river so that no one would find the body. The only wound they kept from it was a deep cheek scar, a trophy, or perhaps a reminder. Though some cats still wonder what happened to CraneTuff, JaggedPaw simply told them he ran away after a fox attacked the two that night. Of course, there's more to the story I've build after months and months, such as anxiety paw chewing and aggressivity, but that's the summery.
That's pretty interesting considering JaggedHawk's lore that he'd decide to lie about killing another cat! Does JaggedHawk feel relief after this is my question, and does the truth ever come out~ Many interesting paths to go with this and I like the story so far!
@@Rosemadi.artist Thank you :3. I would say they are relieved, but still question if they did the right thing. They do tell AlderHeart at some point (I did make AlderHeart and SpartPelt their sibling) but idk if they ever tell any other cat. I mostly just think about the story line when I'm trying to go to sleep.
How I traumatized my main OC: Step 1: make her lose all memory of her past so she can have several existential crises later on Step 2: let he watch someone get cut in half (character death yay!) Step 3: have her get her arm cut off (but it’s fine because it’s to help her learn more about her powers) Step 4: have her deal with an evil genetic clone of everything bad about her Step 5: watch her friends almost die (several several times) Step 6: have her literally die (but it’s fine cuz the grim reaper is chill and she got a second chance) Step 7: have her watch literally everyone she cares about die painful deaths (but it’s fine cuz the timeline gets rewound afterwards) Step 8: have her remember all of that and have yet another existential crisis That’s all I have for now but the story is still ind development so you better believe there’s gonna be more
dang if there's more trauma to go through past step 8, that's pretty insane in itself, but like insane in the good way haha. The concepts here are pretty cool, I especially like step 4 and 6 the most!
I literally have a character thats life mostly sucks. I have 0 idea why my brain decided "Ah yes, this one! This one will be put through hell and back!" and he's the character thats been in my head the most. He's literally both the optimistic and pessimistic out of the trio i have going on
I feel like sometimes we just have that one OC that gets it the worse compared to others lmao. For me I found out why my OC Jioni seems to get hurt a lot while my other OC LaMesha doesn't even have a scratch. And I think it comes down to their actions and choices. So maybe see if that particular OC is more reckless compared to the others. Also the other reason is sometimes the universe needs to crap on someone, and that one particular character is the one 😂
I could go a long while with this cause i traumatize my ocs all the time but I’ll stick to a few. My main oc has a scar and a bunch of ongoing trauma due to his ex. And whenever he gets reminded by his ex, through apples, he’ll sometimes reach for his cheek. He also has a scar on his eyebrow cause of someone slicing him with scissors (and I could I go on with him..) Another one of my ocs has visions for when and how her friends die. So she has to stop that from happening before they actually do die. Another oc has been abandoned in a place she speak the language of by both of her biological parents for being powerless, she saw someone hit the ground from a building and die, she lost her adoptive brother cause someone took him and lost one of her adopted dad (who was an a-hole but carrying on) from a house fire, been kidnapped when her other adoptive father (my main oc) was comatose by his ex. And when she did gain magic it was way too strong for her and she now has burn scars cause of it, lastly she had to deal with the fact that her (soon to be) step-dad getting stabbed in his arm but a crazy power hungry ex demon king. AND SHE IS STILL 7
One thing I find super interesting with your OCs and their traumas is that it's tied to someone close whether it's an abuse ex or a friend! That's the kind of trauma that hits really well!
I’m 90% sure I have some examples of most of these sitting around in my OC roster, all with different meanings Minor injury: Hikari. She is a Persona OC of mine from a roleplay me and some friends made. It’s similar in functionality to Persona 5 but also has some aspects of Persona 3. When she and her friend Akira get sent to a palace by accident (Hikari and Akira both get their personas while they were in there too), Hikari got a large bruise on her arm from fighting a shadow. This bruise stays when they go back to the real world, which helps Hikari and Akira figure out that the palace, as well as this RP’s version of the Metaverse, were real, and also was a part of how they figure out how that place works. Major/life-changing injury: Lucille. She is an OC for a sci-Fi world I made. She is a mechanic who was assigned on an expedition to go to an uncharted habitable planet, but her and the crew she was with were attacked by a tribe of extraterrestrial beings. They weren’t that advanced but had tools and weapons like maces- and a mace is exactly what struck Lucille. Lucille was critically injured, having lost her eye and having her arm extremely wounded to the point where the only choice for her was amputation. It took her months to make a recovery from her injuries. These injuries are also the reason why she accepted to be given a prototype for a prosthetic arm on her back. Permanent scar: Lillian. Lillian is a Pokemon trainer OC of mine, who’s sort of my version of the protagonist for White and Ultra Sun. She got a scar from her fight against Ghetsis, right on her eyebrow, although she normally keeps it hidden under her bangs. Her other scar, though, is from Ultra Necrozma. She got hit with a Photon Geyser which seared her right arm, and a huge scar still remains from it. The only reason she is still standing from that nigh impossible fight is because of her Ninetales protecting her last second, and finishing off the beast. Her determination and unbreakable bonds with her Pokemon and friends could be what’s represented here, but I don’t know that’s kinda corny, but it works. Psychological pain: Once again, Lucille. The attack from the extraterrestrial was incredibly traumatic for her, and even though it’s been a couple years since the incident, she still faces internal struggles because of it. She became severely depressed and is terrified of extraterrestrials now. She may seem tough on the outside (but she also became like this because of the attack lmao), but deep down, she felt weak for not being able to defend herself. She wanted to fight to defend the rest of her group, but she couldn’t. She doesn’t want to seem weak or afraid, so she locks off her emotions a lot, only expressing how she really feels around those closest to her (like Dixi). (GOD I REALLY HOPE I WROTE HER PROPERLY IF I DIDN’T IT WOULD BE SUPER EMBARRASSING BECAUSE I TOOK PSYCH CLASS.) (Also I would say something about Hikari here but I don’t have much space left)
When it comes to Hikari, I think that's really clever that you use pain as a signifier to show how this metaverse place is really similar to the real world. It also grounds the story in a way and adds some stakes! Lucille! That is hella terrifying like stuff out of my worst nightmares. Makes me wonder what the driving force for her working there is! It's much worse when you have to work because you need the money or whatever then gets hurt. I'm joking at this next part, but Lucille better apply for Worker's Compensation or I'm getting OSHA involved again! Anyways my favorite story thread here! Also with Lillian, I don't find that corny at all! But if you find it corny, it's always best to put between the lines instead of on the lines, if you get what I mean. Anyway determination is one hell of a drug to disregard any pain one may have! And again with Lucille that's definitely a relatable feeling to have some kind of PTSD regarding the extraterrestrial attack! I mean it'd be crazy if she didn't come out of something so traumatic traumatized! Anyways love your stories!
@@Rosemadi.artist EEEEK i wasn’t expecting anyone to actually read this- thank you so much ❤❤❤ Also what I was gonna say about Hikari is about the Death and Psychological Pain parts. Get ready for a bit of a doozy. Well ummmm Akira, don’t tell my friends (besides the guy who made Akira because he came up with this), but yeah he ends up dying some time later on in the story, but this is much later on, after the 5th or 6th palace I would say. He is forcefully given an extremely powerful Persona (Surt, a literal fire titan) which pretty much drives Akira crazy, and he ends up fighting Hikari and the rest of the squad, forcing them in a fight to possibly the death, but after the fight, he ends up dying because of getting burnt by Surt. Hikari tried to heal him but he ended up dying in her arms. Oh and did I mention the last move Akira and Surt used (Ragnarok) is literally what started the countdown to the Apocalypse? YEAH. Well, this messes up Hikari, like, a lot. She pretty much doesn’t leave her room for days due to being so terrified and grief-stricken from having to see one of her only friends die like that. The rest of the gang is messed up too, it’s not just Hikari, but we’re talking about her right now. Her sister Yuki (who did know about the metaverse since she was told, pretty much a secret between her and Hikari) was confused and worried about her, until it was announced at their school about Akira’s passing. Later on, avenging Akira is a huge motivation for her (and the rest of the gang too) to beat the big bad evil guy of this roleplay, and is also part of why she awakens her second persona. (Also this is part of why I made Hikari weak to fire damage, I am so evil)
@@Rosemadi.artist I’m so sorry I just really wanted to talk about this- thank you so much for reading my aggressive infodumping about my OCs’ trauma (I might be insane)
i have an oc who wasn’t good enough for a cult she was in so they tracked down her sister, made her watch her sister getting decapitated, then force her to cook and eat the remains of the corpse. oh and her arm was ripped off
so many of my characters go through suffering but i don't think anything can beat my mouse girl oc who's just riddled with scars from her cinderella esque backstory. this was solely to make her tragic (i was in my edgy phase). she accidentally became my most toxic oc ever which is a bit scary since i was like roleplaying as her for several years😭 anyway another one of my ocs had a real rough time and had like half his body scarred. which, althouh it may not be realistic, is cool as hell and since the incident was a culminating moment it's like. It's like the scars are finally showing and he can finally start moving on and getting better yknow? it leaves him messed up in the knees so he has to use mobility aids as well. that part is just because i like canes but also this man can not stop needing help and guidance. external scars as a way of showcasing internal trauma is my favorite
yes yes!! That's so true because when you have a scar externally, it pretty much sticks with you! And I believe also it's pretty realistic for your mouse girl OC to be toxic after trauma. Trauma untreated can lead to such behaviors omg!
@@Rosemadi.artist the idea of my cringe mouse girl oc being realistic has a feeling of both being stabbed and twisted with a knife and also of some form of joy so thank you! maybe i will forgive her for having a depiction of depression that got so cringy and melodramatic and awful that she looped around to being emotionally manipulative.
Damn. First, my guy gets his dad killed, then his mom throws a beer at him and kills herself, then he lives on the streets, then he’s forced to be a child soldier, then he accidentally kills his wife, and now I see this video. I’m gonna make the lessons I learn here apply to everyone I write 😃
My oc, my favourite one, I always remember to draw him with a stitch on his stomach because he got stabbed there and that’s one of his major scars, the other two is him not walking that good because his leg got broken temporarily and his big burn scar that looks like Zuko, Todoroki kinda shi
Also, random, but I love your pfp because that's one of my favorite cartoons and we were robbed from getting another season! Anyway I have a character who also has a stab wound but I haven't drawn it yet cause it's always covered with a shirt. But that's good that your OC is affected by his wound. Literally Peetah from the hunger games book has a prosthetic leg and it always bugged me that it doesn't affect him narratively
My character's first born daughter went missing and was presumed dead as a direct result of him rejecting her in the exact same way _his_ mother rejected _him._ Another character kisses the person he likes spontaneously, but the he doesn't kiss back or know how to react and its so awkward so my character's like "haha, jk bro, forget about it 😅". (For context of the next bit the receiver of the kiss uses an AAC device.) Then later when it seems like the antagonist has won and that person's assumed to be dead, he finds his tablet busted and barely functioning but in the little section right before you hit "enter" it just says "I love you too"
@@Rosemadi.artist She was in a bad place.... while killing people because gothel kidnapped rapunzel and abandoned her which was completely out of Rapunzel's control... uhm okay i see your point she's my wife!!
I only tease haha. But yeah I'm a Cassandra defender to the end. Not only was it Gothel's abandonment that played into her betrayal, but also the fact that the captain of the guards made it near impossible for to become a royal guard. Idk out of most characters I've seen in cartoons, I think she's hella tragic
HAHA my entire story revolves around gods let's do this - TC got burnt at the stake - Hysteria was once chained under water until the chains eroded enough to break free (they cannot breathe under water and ended up drowning like 15 times before their immortal body kicked them awake again) - Daivat's wife abandoned him and his newborn daughter - Decease's wife got turned to a stone statue - He was also chucked off a building leaving him permanently disfigured (guess who's my punching bag) - Irving had to witness a decades long genocide of his people - The Queen of the gods, Juno, had a dethrone attempt against her by the now ex-goddess of storms where she got struck by lightning. A lot - The goddess of disease, Kinoko, killed off her entire planet in one year by accident - Astrid got stuck in a time pocket until this point in the story, so like for at least ten million years - Odile has only ever known war on her planet and the only parental figure she had got murdered - and finally but not the last, Boar got horrificly cursed, causing them to lose all of their titles except for gaining "god of misfortune", as well as giving them random outbursts of animalistic tendencies that made them absolutely terrified of themselves. Yeah I used the "they're immortal" excuse to it's limits
You'd think for immortal beings they'd have it easy, but nope, they gotta suffer like the rest of us normos. Omg out of all of them, I think Hysteria's is my worst nightmare!
@@Rosemadi.artist They get to suffer a lot yeah. Hysteria's was also what caused her to become the god of insanity due to the extreme stress on her body and mind
one of my OCs who i'm working on a graphic novel for went through quite a-lot mentally. if i were to ever finish the story and put it out in the world for people to see it would definitely be a hard read for a-lot of people. It touches on quit a bit of sensitive subjects things like depression, sh, and abuse. all things that i think should definitely be talked about but I'm just struggling on how to to represent it visually without watering it down and or sugar coating it but i also don't want it to be too harsh. It's definitely a struggle buss that i'm on right now. if anyone has any input or ideas that would be amazing.
I think one of the most important things when it comes to dealing with subjects like this is first, of course, doing your research. If you're going off your own personal experience, your work will be a lot easier to defend. But if this is just the kind of story you want to tell, you probably need to get the advice of people who been through it since it can be a trigger. I know one infamous example would be 13 reasons why and the backlash it got for glorifying su!cid3 and then the shock that was that broomstick scene. If you want a case study on what doesn't work, it'll be that show. As long as you're not glorifying anything, having extremely shocking scenes, and making sure you have authentic experiences while telling the story. You should be fine. But there is a balance in telling it without being shocking. It wouldn't be watered down if you don't show the abuse, it could be though if you don't show the lasting impact. Best of luck with your story, I can tell this is topics you find important!
I'm sooooooo sorry that this is how you find out 😭😭 dude I trudged through that book but I died inside while reading. And don't get me started on the kill order (the prequel book) I won't spoil it, but for similar reasons to Newt, I had to put that book down 🫠🫠🫠
My OC Is an inmortal god, he was taken advantage of and the love of his life found out and killed herself before he could explain, he spent the next 6000 years laying by her body with infinite tears, and satan seeing that a gods guard was down attacked earth and the other gods had to fight for him while he Lay there In the present day he's worse than ever and copes by over drinking and hypersexuality.
I have a lot of trauma to give my characters. Triplets abused by their father, and their mother defends her children, father found out she was going to leave with her kids and the father decides to give them all an unforgettable and unforgivable show. The family falls apart, I been playing around how each triplet, (and mother) cope. Triplet one's vocals cords have been heavily damaged, copes with the help of his brother's comfort by singing their mother's lullabies. Triplet two's has trust issues, hides his emotion, yet has a soft spot for his brothers. Triplet three's acts dumb, but acts serious when his brothers or companions are in trouble, craves love from the father who hates him, copes with clingy or just being a cute dumb boy. One of my mc's gets her trauma by accidently harming an enemy out of protecting her friend Mima. A lot of my writing is a work in progress. 😭
The thing with shared trauma at the least, especially with siblings and especially with siblings as close as triplets, at least they have eachother to fall back to! Omg the dad sounds like a literal loser omfg
@@Rosemadi.artist Yea the father is horrible, but I'm still trying to sketch out the scenario or even act it out enough to make the scene look more realistic in a way.
Oh ho ho! YOU ASK ME THE SUFFERING MY OCS HAVE BEEN THROUGH!!! Welll lucky you I have a ton of Danganronpa (aka angst the game!) ocs! Now this is going to take a bit... heh.... :> Harumi is half of a pair. The OC she is linked too is named Mieko! They have been best friends since Harumi was five and Mieko was six! But they had drastically different childhoods. I separate these into sections I suggest if you have a text reader you use that so you can do stuff while it plays in the background... This is going to take a bit . _ . Before middle school: Harumi's family is a loving one. her mother works as a family doctor and Harumi's father works as a high school teacher! Harumi in her younger years took ballet which led her to meeting Mieko! Harumi has allergies to dust and cleaning products (specifically the chemicals) which will cause her skin to break out into a rather. She got this allergy from her father. This will become important later but right now she doesn't really care about her allergies. Harumi also as a younger kid would run around outside happily having not a care in the world about if she would get dirty or the bugs she might be touching. (Harumi is basically a Disney princess when it comes to animals XD) Mieko's younger years were far more different. First of all, Mieko was a complete accident. Her parents didn't mean to have a kid but when they discovered Mieko's mother was pregnant, they went sure why not and had her anyways. Her parents though ended up ignoring her, sending her to activities was music and dancing lessons so they the young Mieko would be out of sight. When Mieko wasn't at one of these activities her parents would be at work (they own some big company or something) And Mieko would be left alone with a maid or something (her family is filthy stinking rich lol.) This caused Mieko's first problem. Attachment issues. Going five years without any real attachment leaves you not doing so great. So, when Mieko met Harumi and they instantly clicked she chose to never let go... Even if this would hurt Harumi and kill Mieko in the end (DUN DUN DUN XD) Middle School years: Why Harumi's social life would drop Mieko's would rise. Harumi's allergic reactions caused her to be the victim of many bullies. It also didn't help that her skin was prone to acne which added onto the bullying. Especially when compared to Mieko's pale perfect skin. Harumi in middle school would be hurt physically and mentally by other students as she wasn't the strongest kid out there and her preferring to be more peaceful resolutions to things. So, Harumi would go home bruised and broken each day but somehow still keeping a brave smile on her face. And this would be where her life philosophy would be created, "The world may hate me but that just means I need to be even kinder so that when someone like me comes along I can be that light I needed." Aka "Be nice cause I needed nice people." Her middle school years also led her to her savior... Makeup! Which would also lead to her developing her ultimate! The Ultimate Makeup artist! Now you might be wondering, "Where was Harumi's best friend through all of this?" Well, she was becoming a famous J-Pop star! And school celebrity! Mieko would somehow join a J-Pop group was that just being formed! I didn't even have a name yet! And Mieko just so happened to have the perfect voice for a lead singer! Mieko would thrive in this Enviromint for a while being so happy to have the attention she craved so dearly! But of course, like most things in Mieko's life it would turn for the worse. Mieko's manager turned out to be a horrible man. Mieko's manager forced her to work long hours, stick to a strict diet and exercise routine and would subject her to mental manipulation and abuse. Mieko's attachment to Harumi would become unhealthier as this would go on and Mieko would start to use what tactics she learned from her manager. She would watch Harumi be bullied for a bit and then come to her aid after the fact and act like she was the only one who truly cared for her. And slowly but surely, she would close Harumi off from making any friends outside of her. NOW TIME FOR THE FUN PART! The actually killing game! (Fun fact this was actually an rp :3 I co-hosted it and it almost died but I revived it! hahah!!!!) The beginning. Harumi would start out panicked at the beginning of the game but slowly gain friends by doing something she knew well. Helping people and being kind. She would become friends with a guy by the name of Hayate (co-hosts oc) a cold guy called Tesaki who Harumi slowly got to open up. And two others named Poppy (co-hosts oc) and Maxwell! Harumi would thrive in her friend company learning she had a skill for making people feel safe! She would even along with Tesaki and Maxwell discover the secret of this place! (I had no clue what the heck was going on lmao. I was just helping build the server and help with the trials lol!) Mieko would also gain a new friend. Asuka. She would at first put on the persona she puts on whenever meeting one of her friends but would soon realize this boy was much like herself... He also had trouble making friends. But yet somehow this J-pop idol and absolute weeb who though she was his Tabaxi bard D&D character would become incredibly close, coming to each other whenever they were upset in need of reassurance. The beginning of the end. The 5th motive would come around and it would that if you killed someone and got away with it you could let someone come with you and everyone else would die. Now this section will focus more on Mieko than Harumi. Mieko would hear the motive and instantly think, "It's too good to be true..." She would stop trying to think about the motive but eventually the urge would take control and she would give in. Through all of it she would try to ignore Asuka and focus on Harumi. And getting her out of here. (I like to say she tried to ignore Asuka because she had a major crush on him but that's not confirmed since idk if Asuka's roleplayer is chill with that lol) Eventually the fateful night would arrive, and she would kill. She even made it look like someone else had done it! Tesaki! Her worst enemy (yeah they had major beef in the rp lmao. Tesaki choked her once and he made Mieko cry lmaooo) And so she thought it would go off without a hitch!... Oh how wrong she was. She didn't account for one thing. A witness. Harumi had been quiet the whole trial but eventually she broke down. She would burst out into to tears and cry, "M... Mieko... Why... Why..." Mieko would look confused. What was Harumi saying. Why... Why did you have to kill Kibe! I saw you do it!" Harumi cried out. Mieko would instantly try to defend herself and failing as Harumi explained that she had been up that night and heard a scream. She had gone to peak out of the room she was in and saw Mieko would a bloody knife. Mieko would scream at everyone until she heard a voice she had forgotten about. “Come on,” Asuka would say in a shaky laugh, "This is crazy. There’s no way-” “it’s true Asuka. She literally admitted to the crime. She was going to sacrifice you to get out of here.” Hayate would respond and Mieko would yell as Hayate to shut up! And then her voice would change to a gentler one as she tried to reassure Asuka. The trial would continue with Mieko switching from rage to reassurance until eventually it was time to go. She gave Harumi and Asuka the last hugs she would ever get to give them. Even got to punch Tesaki. And then she would die like the queen she always wanted to be viewed as. Death by the guillotine. SORRY THAT TOOK FOREVER! I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS SO MUCH!! GOSH Of course there's more but that's where Mieko's story ends. Harumi gets out alive along with the other characters mentioned. So yeah! Their story has it all! Abandonment issues, attachment issues, crap parents, the horribleness of the music industry, manipulation, mental abuse, death, bullying, and learning to connect with people (and getting that violently ripped away!) (Also possibly love that never got to be shared before death!)
By the end of reading all this, I KEPT SAYING "WOAH" AT DIFFERENT PARTS! This story is so loaded (in a good way!) Especially when it comes to the backstory and how it all leads up to this eventual murder at the end omg. Idk just theorizing right now, cause of course lmao, but I can totally see how Mieko can end up a murderer! Absent rich parents = none of the naturing needed for a developing mind, all of her hobbies being performance based like music and dancing = adding on to her attention insecurities, and then becoming a famous J-pop star while still being in school, like that's so young. That's like the perfect trauma stew for the dubious decision she makes later in life. And then with Harumi deciding whether to say something throughout the trial on not, the mental weight of that alone is torture enough, especially since she stands for what's considered kind. Also what kind of rps are you in 😭where you get a whole ass developed story like this!?!? Is this my sign to check out Danganronpa???
@@Rosemadi.artist SFJLHEPHSHSGJ DIDN'T EXPECT SOMEONE WOULD READ THAT SO THANK YOU!!! I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS ABOUT THOSE TWO ARE THEIR RP!! You understand Mieko super well! I'm happy to see you like her trauma lol XD I actually have two animatics I am working on for those two! One is finished and for Mieko right before she dies. Just really sweet and angsty >:) the other is about Harumi and how her mom's POV of watching her go through all her bullying :( BEHOLD! The power you get when the parents are alive and love their child! Might have to post them lol! To explain the rp bit lol The host of the rp k help co-host has had a lot of experience hosting RPs on discord server and having them have strong stories! And 50% of the people rping were in her other RPs while the other 50% (me included) were long forum roleplayers if that helps! XD there is probably a plethora of other reasons lol! This isn't all do the rp I shared! My character Momo and my friend's character Strom had the angstiest thing ever go on it was great >:) everyone was shocked during Momo's trial lie someone left for a minute and came back and said "WHAT THE F JUST HAPPENED?!?!" The rp as I mentioned before was actually supposed to die but I forced it to live cause I *needed* Mieko's Trial to happen cause I had that planned from day one of her creation lol (Mieko and Harumi were also inspired by the song End of the Line) But yes >:) you should totally get into Danganronpa it is very angst filled lol I should mention though it's an anime. Has anime... Shenanigans... I watched the anime of the game. The games after the first one have... Interesting stuff... We do not talk about Danganronpa 2 ._. one of the characters... Ew. Just no. Gosh no.
Oh yeah Mieko also is in a second rp where the cast all play a killing game to see who gets to come back to life. Mieko feels super guilty and isn't sure if she deserves the chance at life again after betraying Mieko and Asuka. Mieko gets to talk about her guilt and people understand and it's really sweet. BUT ALSO VERY ANGSTY. CAUSE THE MOTIVE RN IS THE SAME MOTIVE THAT LEAD HER TO KILL! Edit: fun fact Asuka and Kibe had the same roleplayer XD And in rp she said that Asuka would be happy as long as Mieko was alive. And so when I added her to the group chat I asked her if she remembered that line and she instantly went NO NO NO NO It was hilarious lol
I didn't get here in time to see all the spelling errors lmao so you literally got away with it! But wow omg that sounds super fun in terms of an rp community, the most I've seen is like an rp with 3 people but like a group rp with several people and it has well developed stories, that's just yes 😭 But ok fair enough haha, I haven't watched much Anime so I've been told by several people on this channel, and even my coworkers to check it out. I'll start off with Danganronpa, and even though I'm not in the fandom yet I'll acknowledge that the 2nd one doesn't exist lmao But omg anyways that trial seems like the trial of the century, I want to ask if you guys followed how actual court cases happen whether its American or Japanese. Or if you guys just went with the flow XD considering how Harumi was able to talk to the murderer, I'm guessing the latter lmao that's so fun!
I scrempt 😭😭😭😭 yep it's red and symbolizes the suffering an artist must face to break into the industry. Taking the literal and metaphorical long way route 💀💀
I have so many random tragic ocs however the main one half of my brain focused on are "priest who was forced into their position as proxy due to destiny and people only viewing them as a descendent of an ambiguously dead person" and "parentified via father being a call of duty player where this character turns to underage drinking should i mention this character has bipolar II disorder and alcohol triggers her hypomanic episodes she's doing fine", i have much more horribly traumatic characters but ththeyre being 1. rewritten at some point. 2. Being toned down because im not a big fan of literal trauma porn and heavg writing sometimes
Yeah, when it comes to mental health and tragedy, it's best to write it, rewrite it, and then rewrite it again so it doesn't make light of the situation, but also doesn't trigger the entrance of the world's smallest violin lmao. Anyways your OCs sound hell intriguing, and you should continue to write those stories!
My brother has rats, those bites hurt like heck for a little bit. They tend to bleed a bit and one of the holes will be bigger. The bites can also be deep. Just for facts, don't actually care how it was drawn/written.
someone please explain what the hell is up with the red door metaphor cuz when i try to search for it on youtube some dumb horror movie sequel hogs all the sprotlight!
I cant tell if this is a joke or not, but regardless the way this comment is worded is by far one of the funniest 😭😭😭 so to explain more in depth, it's just a dumb obscure meme, it came from a "Shakespeare" quote that never even existed about red doors 💀
@@Rosemadi.artist in german we have the phrase "The curtains were blue" attributed to some big historic autor (i forget which) and it supposedly is a metaphor for depression. But its mentioned as an example of you can over analyze literally anything when reviewing a work.
hmmmm ok thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I've always wanted a pet rat, but where I live now they don't allow it. Anyways I'll keep this in mind for any future rat bites lol
I have this ONE oc i just love to just keep adding bad life to She is Fucking abused, used, gets lost in the middle of the sea, almost dies 29 times, her mother dies, her father died, her sister murderer
Oml i made my two characters suffer SO MUCH body horror. Good stuff!! Vick, now visor, was kidnapped off the streets by the gov with his son and turned into two mechanical creatures that dont even resemble humans. His sons mind was broken during the transfer so he has lost his humanity and turned into a feral animal basically. Even though theres more to the and why theu were turned, thats just what happened to them in particular
Ayo that's like my worst nightmare right there omfg, especially knowing that your own son is basically lost in the most horrific way possible and there's not much you can do to help.
With your last point death yeah USSALLY it isn't really a traumatic thing for the one experiencing it it you're going with just dies and doesn't exist but I'd like to bring up one of my ocs bluepaw ( warrior cats oc) he dies by TW brutally being killed by his own father who put so much pressure on his chest he caved in on himself his ribs stabbing into his lungs as he then continued to be alive for minutes before chocking on blood.once he dies he is not in peace the trauma of the event is still with him h often has vivid horiffic hallucinations of his own deadbody horrificly exaggerated he can't sleep be is in a constant state of stress of something that doesn't even exist. So I'd like to say yes death can cause suffering to the victim If they stick around after the fact in some way to twk it in😊😊
That makes sense! I totally forgot that in some narratives the character is fully aware of their death and how they died, and it could be especially traumatic especially considering that was Bluepaw's father who did it omg
my main oc (he's also in the lore me n my friends are making) has a scar over his left eye from his parent's abuse, he also has wounds over his legs from, also, the same abuse. however 90% of his body is covered (including his face because he has a mask on) because he doesn't like them to be seen. im planning to make him face reveal later in the story edit: forgot to mention but his younger sister died from getting hit by a car. his mother was an alcohol addict and his father was mainly the one that abused him. after he turned 15, his parents kicked him out because he's trans (ftm), aaand then he went fucking insane and killed multiple people. he's much more calmer nao with his friends but he still goes insane once in a while yyyyes i llike trauma dumping my ocs okay edit 2: ffFFUUUUN FAAACTTT HE'S BASED OFF OF THE SSONG PINK BY MARETU. OK BYEBYE LAST EDIT J PROMISE
These stories are totally impactful and true to life, I can see why your OC would decide to cover his scars, my OC covers her scars too! And the death of a sibling is traumatic asf, especially in an abusive household, the feeling of being alone ahhhh! But omg I hope the best for your character because when it comes to trans stories, I'm more biased towards happy endings 🥲I lowkey wanna see him happy.
It's really the OC's we love most that we torture most
There's never been a more true statement!
Omg I felt sad just reading this, especially the part with the mole. That's gotta sting!
@@Rosemadi.artist Eeeeyup
Me: **brewing up a new main character** oh no, I need the character to develop in this story!
Also me: **grabs the bottle labeled "3 in 1: trauma, social ineptitude and copium"** so, this will be the character base, I just have to add the flavor...
I literally screamed omg 😭 that recipe works every time!
i have this oc who was raised in a very corrupt land in which she was trained into this unit of child soldiers sort of, but they don't do the big jobs.
I told my friends how one of my joyous immortal characters’ immovable fate is to suffer and all his attempts to change his fate only make his predicament worse and they told me theres some kind of unspoken evil in me
Your artstyle is beautiful btw!
Lmao I don't think your evil, it's just fun to do the snowball effects with characters, the hell doesn't stop until you say so 💀
Also awww thank you so much I can cry 😭💕
We just can’t stop traumatizing our characters 😂
But again, as someone who wants to thoroughly create good stories that strike people specifically.
Picks up the glass labelled “Trauma” and absolutely smashing it in a bowl, or on the ocs head if I want them to get physical pain too
Smash it over their head for the wombo combo!
i love putting characters in the metaphorical blender
I do too, diino8081, I do too.
i mean rat bites can have one or two indents if you search it up lol, so yea its pretty accurate ig
My refusal to Google it, even while editing, was strong haha
I'm gonna write a character, she's a witch in the academy that's so unlucky and miserable she gets beat up by her own familiars, and her classmates accidentally nuke her every once in a while, which leads to a corruption arc, she joins the bad guys and she's doing much better there too
You are bad guy, but that doesn't mean you're *Bad Guy*
@@Rosemadi.artistyeah, bad guys mess with dogs, the witch got NUKED
I wrote a manic pixie dream boy love interest then gave him a tragic military past. A good hurt cocktail, added some emotional, soceital and even physical pain and it still affects his life
Ahh yes, the trifecta of pain! Your story sounds super interesting tbh!
Nah man I just clicked the title because I have no damn idea to tackle trauma in a respectful way or even decide whether it's really necessary 😟(literally have not touched my ocs since nine years of age, and can't even think up a decent story to come with em)
Also, I'm new here and loving your perspective and you content!
That's valid that's valid! I definitely hoped this video helped, thanks!!
You aren’t going to find out how to if you don’t make mistakes.
Also unless you’re writing a book or making professional publish work literally does not matter.
thumbnail is so real, ima big fan of psychological warfare against my OCs. big physical injury is a classic, they can walk it off
I read this comment and literally screeched like a pterodactyl in public, that's so funny help😭 omg that's the only way
I have an oc who turned to a life of crime to afford medicine for their child, only for their child to get hurt from that crime. So like, the child's gonna be negatively affected either way and there's nothing the parent can do to protect them
that hurts my soul-
honestly so sad, but at that point it's better to have tried and failed, then to never have tried and fail!
my main OC has a big scar on her face and a missing toe from test flights, also because she's very reckless but at the same time extremally lucky. The "lucky idiot" trope I guess. Being indoctrinated into a militaristic society she's even proud of them and flaunts them like they're medals. Once the emotional trauma of real war kicks however it's not so "fun and games"anymore.
Oh yeah, when it comes to war, the trauma building up to it, during it, and after it never goes away truly. Your story sounds incredibly interesting!!
If you want to make them suffer : make them go through Hell.
If you want to REALLY make them suffer : make them go through Real Life lol
I feel like this should've been my yearbook quote, that line goes so unnecessarily hard!
@@Rosemadi.artist You know it lol
My main OC’s don’t have much suffering, mostly because they are basically a kids-tweens cartoon type of story

@@Rosemadi.artist like monster of the week but instead of just monsters it’s collecting ancient artifacts from ancient forgotten places kinda
Idk I made the characters when I was 8 so I wasn’t the best writer 💀
This universe hopping deathloop is pretty fun ngl (none of them are ok)
When the suffering is existential and has a literal god behind it is when some of my favorite things happen, i have 13 ocs that all represent some sort of aspect about being human and all exist with the same curse, they cannot die, and they cannot stay in any one world.
And the fact that AJ would supposedly help her get back from that barn to the school. There was too much going against it
i once made an oc for a roleplay and i decide hmmmm he doesnt have enough pain so i drowned him just to save him and remove his legs to make him wheelchair bound idk what happened in my younger brain lmao
Alive just to suffer type beat, the fact that you revoked his leg privileges
Oh dang, I guess you are in good hands XD *ba dum tss* but anyways omg what did you do to Athena!?
Omg, that's the worst kind of hell imaginable, being left alone with your own thoughts thinking about the what ifs. Honestly a fate worse than death!
@@Rosemadi.artist I'm planning on vividly showing what having an aspect resurrected does to them, probably agonizing.
Like with art?? :0

Ouch T.T
Overall in terms of actual quality of the books I give them a 6/10 :P and the fandom is pretty chill, hasn’t been much drama in a few years since most of the fans moved onto other things and/or just matured a little bit
Sorry this is so long I just have a lot to say 💀👍
You are TOTALLY UNDERRATED!!
also I appreciate the Happy Home Designer music more than a normal person should-
haha thanks! Omg more people should play HHD! The music in that game literally feeds my soul!
I understand why you didn’t want to research wounds but funny thing with rodents is that because the teeth can go very deep it can look like a bloodbath but when it stops bleeding it’s usually just a pair of parallel lines (except for the one time a hamster bit my finger so hard it left three holes, had to keep smiling for the customer thought and just hide my hand)
Woo to 3 am rants!
i didn't even realise this was 30 mins youve somehow captured my adhd brain i was multitasking but still! i usually get bored at the 20 min mark unless its a special interest thats impressive

First off I just wanna start with thank you!?! I feel like I’ve heard a lot of information in bits and pieces and such before, but seeing it all lashed out so smoothly and in an interesting way was genuinely so good *chefs kiss*
I mostly have a little world im working on right now, and the one that comes the most to mind is definitely a gal I have named Iyaxeb (or Iya).
I like putting my ocs through a process I would call fabricated person
Basically some fourth wall breaking shit where they go into a deep mental breakdown
Or I’ll make them relive the same death over and over
I’m one of those guys who REALLY likes to fuck up his ocs
4:31 baby :)
Idk why I'm literally imagining that one scene from spongebob (The episode "Doing Time") where Mrs. Puff hallucinates crashing like 5 times towards the end of the episode. That shit could really break someone mentally lmao
also I hate you for letting me see that Invincible clip again >:')
@@Rosemadi.artist ah well I also like the idea of someone being trapped in there head while something controlling them makes them do horrific things that they are forced to watch
I’m a sucker for horror art
It could be basic blood half dead or it could be someone ripping apart their own body
I’ll quite literally sit in class and think of trauma I can give my ocs
also these examples sound so “bawking” stupid when I type them out
I love doing scars on ocs. It’s fantastic. So much fun.
Agreed agreed! I love drawing scars especially face scars!
In shorts, no matter how many times Teras tries to kick the bucket, the virus never lets it, pretty much sayin "You dont die on your own terms, but mine"
Anyways, with the memories, he realizes he doesnt want anyone to feel this pain so he secludes himself and refuses to get close to people, that was until he was 17, the bird guy shows up and is like "We're friends now" and spends the next decade helping Teras deal with his trauma in healthier ways instead of hurting others out of anger.
How does the bird guy's family/friends feel about this, if they even have any
@Rosemadi.artist So birdguy(decided his name is Paulo)
Paulo is from Brazil, he has a hugeee family, in the beginning, no one could get ahold of Paulo, not even his mom and he never misses a call or text from her regardless of what situation he's in.
In Paulos case, it sent cracked pieces of Paulos face to the doorstep of his mother's room, knowing she'd have the biggest reaction and activate the fumes that were inside her(turning her into one of the infected monsters)
Oh and fun fact the virus has different ways of killing, for Paulo it was an instant kill, and if you seen that traumatizing cat short film where the sick cats crack and break, that's basically what happened and why I mentioned the virus sending cracked pieces of Paulos face
I have an oc who watched all her friends die! (They were full characters too it took sooooo long to write them just to kill them almost immediately)
man that's the literal saddest thing when that happens!!
I love trauma-dumping my ocs 😀
Lmao same! I could do it all day. They have more lore than me myself as a real person💀
i have multiple ocs competing for the worst physical and mental suffering but i think i'll just stick with what i've put one particular oc through 😭
his name is evelyn and his bloodline was cursed with misfortune (a lot of the people in his family suck anyway) after a great great great grandma had a witch be burned at the stake. some of the things his been through:
• his mother attacking him and leaving him needing a glass eye
• his brother becoming his primary caretaker (his brother sucks and lives to become a serial killer, only to die at his own concert)
• bullying
• poverty
• almost died on multiple occasions for reasons ranging from being almost smooshed by a dresser as a kid to almost being hit by cars
• killed someone on accident (it was a creature that looked human, he had no clue)
ik it seems like i made him just for him to be edgy and perpetually kicked by the universe but i swear he gets his peace and healing arc I SWEARR
Nawr I believe you lol! But yeah Evelyn's trauma is definitely a harsh one because it almost does seem like the world is kicking him, and a lot of these things seem out of his control, which I argue, makes it better!
Also I adore making my ocs suffer inside and out in general. It’s so much fun.
Haha yeah I agree it can be pretty fun sometimes, especially slapstick-esque suffering!
This is the first video I've seen from your channel, and I must say I really like your energy! Great topics, too ^-^
Awww thank you so much that truly means a lot!!
All the characters I wrote suffers according to how much evil stuffs they had done. Equality, lmao. My favourite thing to write is two old friends fighting who neither of them are right or wrong, just two broken guys. :)
Forgot to add, your art style looks gorgeous.
I always had to redraw the lines because most of the characters are one coloured-
Yeah, writing the characters who were equally hurt is entertaining.
Before I watched this video, my friends told me to stop adding more trauma to my favorite OC
After watching this video, they're going to suffer a lot _more_ :)
If you want to keep reading about the OC, feel free to read more! :D
The OC in question is a succubus who happens to be on the aroace spectrum.
Summing up his backstory since he got his power:
-father is a pathetic coward, doesn't even protect his child and states he wouldn't give his life for him
-villain woman (her name is Rebecca so that's how ill call her) targets him and wants to correct his behavior by force, raids his house, finds his son not being able to enter the bedroom where he closed himself with his wife
-konrad is threatened by some underlings without the woman's permission, acts by instinct and hits one of them, awaking the power and accidentally murdering him.
This is the funniest video on the internet! Love this
AWWW thank you! Omg I swear I'm laughing while editing and recording 😭
In only 7 days when I subbed you have reached 1k!
yay me haha! Omg i should draw something for a community post 😭
i have an oc that has suffered through a lot, his name is neo. he has one of them eye scars, his parents pressured him into believing into the cult they ran, but once his mother found out about it she decided to stab his left eye out because "you believe you're better than everyone else" and "you know too much about the cult" it led him to being insecure to show his left eye and used eye patches to cover it, he also developed anxiety and became paranoid about it and it still affects him till this day
another oc of mine has witnessed and suffered from a death of a loved one, his name is clio, he has witnessed his father taking his younger brothers life and constantly blames himself due to the guilt of "why didn't i sacrifice myself instead of my brother" it led to him into sh himself, hes now doing better but still has constant nightmares of the day his brother died
fun fact about these two ocs, they're dating and they often go on dates at the aracde neo owns :]
Well that's a good thing that they're both dating because hopefully they can be strong together! It makes me wonder though if they're the type of relationship to openly talk about these things, or do they ignore it to talk about how rigged the Subway Surfers arcade cabinet is. Anyways love the lore and this story!
I’ve been coming up with OC story stuff, SO THANK YOU SO MUCH BC I NEEDED THIS 😭 lol
Omg im glad this helped!! 😭😭 also I'm happy to see a Roblox pfp, that means I'm reaching the right people haha
@@Rosemadi.artist lol
the worst suffering my ocs been through....
*Trauma flashbacks*
how do you want me to arrange that? alphabetical, numerical, or chronological order?
...
um... how to put it without spoilers to something i plan to publish...
@@Rosemadi.artist oh id like to 😁
Though the concept i have in mind takes a lot of build up, and I'm having a bit of trouble getting that build up sorted out (i keep finding myself writing the more interesting middle and end parts... :x)
I basically wanted to toy with the idea of a truly good character having a negative arc, simply because she didn't properly understand human nature, and the curse kind of... forces her to face that, you could say. when she realized how messed up the world is, she's forced to confront it due to her morals, but questions whether she's doing it because she really believes her actions (which she herself sees as barbaric at times due to a warped upbringing,) are just, or if the curse is slowly corrupting her mind, to the point that even she starts to think of herself as a villain. Luckily, she does meet someone who helps her find her way back onto a positive character arc, though, not without a lot of challenges, slip ups and potential backsliding along the way... but hey, challenges make stories fun 🤣
This was great!
Haha thanks so so much!!
My oc got her leg ripped off and her eye gouged out whilst being 17 and was in a coma until she was roughly 22, making her socially undeveloped so adding on mental trauma as well :D
I feel so bad for your OC omg that's like the most painful type of pain, but I'm sure they'll get through it X'D
Some effects that their trauma has left on them are:
Linda- She's uncomfortable with femininity and covers up a lot
Jacob- He's always aware of his surroundings and has paranoia.
@@Rosemadi.artist oh they probably are aware, they just bottle it up so that their best friend doesn't worry about them too nuch
Definitely how most people handle situations like that!
My characters have a lot of these, but thanks for the ideas 😊 I'll make sure they suffer more (except for the protag. He has his own stuff going on)
Oh noes, what have I contributed to 💀💀💀
My OC, JaggedHawk (JaggedPaw at the time, yes this is Warrior cats it's a ragdoll cat) got abused by their mentor.
How I traumatized my main OC:
Step 1: make her lose all memory of her past so she can have several existential crises later on
Step 2: let he watch someone get cut in half (character death yay!)
Step 3: have her get her arm cut off (but it’s fine because it’s to help her learn more about her powers)
Step 4: have her deal with an evil genetic clone of everything bad about her
Step 5: watch her friends almost die (several several times)
Step 6: have her literally die (but it’s fine cuz the grim reaper is chill and she got a second chance)
Step 7: have her watch literally everyone she cares about die painful deaths (but it’s fine cuz the timeline gets rewound afterwards)
Step 8: have her remember all of that and have yet another existential crisis
That’s all I have for now but the story is still ind development so you better believe there’s gonna be more
dang if there's more trauma to go through past step 8, that's pretty insane in itself, but like insane in the good way haha.
He also has a scar on his eyebrow cause of someone slicing him with scissors (and I could I go on with him..)
Another one of my ocs has visions for when and how her friends die.
Omg this is the first video I've watched from you. I really enjoyed the video and your energy lol.
Good stuff.
Awe thank you thank you so much!! 💕💕
I’m 90% sure I have some examples of most of these sitting around in my OC roster, all with different meanings
Minor injury: Hikari.
(GOD I REALLY HOPE I WROTE HER PROPERLY IF I DIDN’T IT WOULD BE SUPER EMBARRASSING BECAUSE I TOOK PSYCH CLASS.)
(Also I would say something about Hikari here but I don’t have much space left)
@@Rosemadi.artist EEEEK i wasn’t expecting anyone to actually read this- thank you so much ❤❤❤
Also what I was gonna say about Hikari is about the Death and Psychological Pain parts.
@@Rosemadi.artist I’m so sorry I just really wanted to talk about this- thank you so much for reading my aggressive infodumping about my OCs’ trauma (I might be insane)
i have an oc who wasn’t good enough for a cult she was in so they tracked down her sister, made her watch her sister getting decapitated, then force her to cook and eat the remains of the corpse. oh and her arm was ripped off
oh noooo, not her arm :(

Omg by far the most disturbing lore in this comment section, i've never felt so bad for someone's OC! 😭
@@Rosemadi.artist akshually her lore has evolved MOAR NOW!!! she lost BOTH OF HER ARMS!!!!!! ^_^
@@Rosemadi.artist ALSO TY!! ^_^
so many of my characters go through suffering but i don't think anything can beat my mouse girl oc who's just riddled with scars from her cinderella esque backstory. this was solely to make her tragic (i was in my edgy phase). she accidentally became my most toxic oc ever which is a bit scary since i was like roleplaying as her for several years😭
anyway another one of my ocs had a real rough time and had like half his body scarred. which, althouh it may not be realistic, is cool as hell and since the incident was a culminating moment it's like.
New sub gained! :] Oc trauma and abuse is amazing :D
Haha there's nothing better! Ty ty!!
Damn. First, my guy gets his dad killed, then his mom throws a beer at him and kills herself, then he lives on the streets, then he’s forced to be a child soldier, then he accidentally kills his wife, and now I see this video. I’m gonna make the lessons I learn here apply to everyone I write 😃
That's pretty traumatic already so you have a great base. I can already smell the self-loathing this character may have, and I feel so bad!
Surviving a time loop
To understand the future, you gotta go back in time. (Sorry I'm random)
My character's first born daughter went missing and was presumed dead as a direct result of him rejecting her in the exact same way _his_ mother rejected _him._
Another character kisses the person he likes spontaneously, but the he doesn't kiss back or know how to react and its so awkward so my character's like "haha, jk bro, forget about it 😅". (For context of the next bit the receiver of the kiss uses an AAC device.) Then later when it seems like the antagonist has won and that person's assumed to be dead, he finds his tablet busted and barely functioning but in the little section right before you hit "enter" it just says "I love you too"
Aw omg when love and pain combines it creates super pain omg. The story sounds so good, and yet so sad omggg

uhm okay i see your point she's my wife!!
HAHA my entire story revolves around gods let's do this
- TC got burnt at the stake
- Hysteria was once chained under water until the chains eroded enough to break free (they cannot breathe under water and ended up drowning like 15 times before their immortal body kicked them awake again)
- Daivat's wife abandoned him and his newborn daughter
- Decease's wife got turned to a stone statue
- He was also chucked off a building leaving him permanently disfigured (guess who's my punching bag)
- Irving had to witness a decades long genocide of his people
- The Queen of the gods, Juno, had a dethrone attempt against her by the now ex-goddess of storms where she got struck by lightning. A lot
- The goddess of disease, Kinoko, killed off her entire planet in one year by accident
- Astrid got stuck in a time pocket until this point in the story, so like for at least ten million years
- Odile has only ever known war on her planet and the only parental figure she had got murdered
- and finally but not the last, Boar got horrificly cursed, causing them to lose all of their titles except for gaining "god of misfortune", as well as giving them random outbursts of animalistic tendencies that made them absolutely terrified of themselves.
This is how i find out that Newt dies????? I dont even want to read the rest of the series anymore 😭😭😭
I'm sooooooo sorry that this is how you find out 😭😭 dude I trudged through that book but I died inside while reading. And don't get me started on the kill order (the prequel book) I won't spoil it, but for similar reasons to Newt, I had to put that book down 🫠🫠🫠
My OC Is an inmortal god, he was taken advantage of and the love of his life found out and killed herself before he could explain, he spent the next 6000 years laying by her body with infinite tears, and satan seeing that a gods guard was down attacked earth and the other gods had to fight for him while he Lay there
In the present day he's worse than ever and copes by over drinking and hypersexuality.
That's some true grieving right there! It really goes to show that the grieving process doesn't end suddenly and it can become part of the character!
I guess that would probably involve getting the father's backstory too 0.0
@@Rosemadi.artist Yea lol, everyone I make has many backstories linked with each other.
Oh ho ho! YOU ASK ME THE SUFFERING MY OCS HAVE BEEN THROUGH!!!
Welll lucky you I have a ton of Danganronpa (aka angst the game!) ocs!
Now this is going to take a bit... heh.... :>
Harumi is half of a pair. The OC she is linked too is named Mieko! They have been best friends since Harumi was five and Mieko was six! But they had drastically different childhoods. I separate these into sections
I suggest if you have a text reader you use that so you can do stuff while it plays in the background... This is going to take a bit . _ .
Before middle school:
Harumi's family is a loving one. her mother works as a family doctor and Harumi's father works as a high school teacher! (Harumi is basically a Disney princess when it comes to animals XD)
Mieko's younger years were far more different. Even if this would hurt Harumi and kill Mieko in the end (DUN DUN DUN XD)
Middle School years:
Why Harumi's social life would drop Mieko's would rise.
(Fun fact this was actually an rp :3 I co-hosted it and it almost died but I revived it! hahah!!!!)
The beginning.
I was just helping build the server and help with the trials lol!)
Mieko would also gain a new friend.
(I like to say she tried to ignore Asuka because she had a major crush on him but that's not confirmed since idk if Asuka's roleplayer is chill with that lol)
Eventually the fateful night would arrive, and she would kill.
There’s no way-”
“it’s true Asuka.
GOSH
Of course there's more but that's where Mieko's story ends.

Mieko feels super guilty and isn't sure if she deserves the chance at life again after betraying Mieko and Asuka.
Mieko gets to talk about her guilt and people understand and it's really sweet. BUT ALSO VERY ANGSTY. CAUSE THE MOTIVE RN IS THE SAME MOTIVE THAT LEAD HER TO KILL!

But omg anyways that trial seems like the trial of the century, I want to ask if you guys followed how actual court cases happen whether its American or Japanese. Or if you guys just went with the flow XD considering how Harumi was able to talk to the murderer, I'm guessing the latter lmao that's so fun!
16:28 is the door, by any chance, red? XD

I totally forgot that in some narratives the character is fully aware of their death and how they died, and it could be especially traumatic especially considering that was Bluepaw's father who did it omg
my main oc (he's also in the lore me n my friends are making) has a scar over his left eye from his parent's abuse, he also has wounds over his legs from, also, the same abuse. however 90% of his body is covered (including his face because he has a mask on) because he doesn't like them to be seen. im planning to make him face reveal later in the story
edit: forgot to mention but his younger sister died from getting hit by a car. his mother was an alcohol addict and his father was mainly the one that abused him. after he turned 15, his parents kicked him out because he's trans (ftm), aaand then he went fucking insane and killed multiple people. he's much more calmer nao with his friends but he still goes insane once in a while
yyyyes i llike trauma dumping my ocs okay
edit 2: ffFFUUUUN FAAACTTT HE'S BASED OFF OF THE SSONG PINK BY MARETU.
