I rlly need the money rn! So again >:3 I’m here to promo my commissions! The discount is still active at the time of making this comment but it won’t be for long! My kofi is linked in the description!
I've been very dissatisfied with my artwork lately. I think you really hit the nail on the head. It's boring. I really need to get back to studying colors ; __ ; great video.
Another thing I didn’t mention when it comes to getting urself used to experimenting w colors is random color palettes or color palettes online! :D sometimes it helps me to just find random ones online or generate one and design a character or piece based on that! It also helps me practice managing tricky palettes I maybe wouldn’t have personally considered before!
8:40 agreed with the brushes tip!! So true! I switched to using a sketch brush for line art for this inktober and it’s been a lot more helpful to getting work done and being loose, instead of being trapped in rigid perfect clean line art jail. 😂 love me some snatched line art but I love actually FINISHING my art more lmao!
thank you omg i think im at like a mid-intermediate phase of art like im good at making the body look normal and nothing bugs me about it being "off" as much anymore but now its just like... lacking a bit and a little lifeless. i wanna develop my own style and give it a lil ✨flavor✨
this is a really great video, experimenting with colour and texture are honestly what i pride myself on in my work, and i'm always trying to improve, trying different brushes and things !! i still feel like my art is boring sometimes but i think its important to note that being on the internet screaming into the void can definitely contribute to the feeling of always needing improvement, and not all of your art needs to be perfect or marketable
Oh absolutely! It’s hard to break out of the mindset of feeling like u always need to be perfect or on the ✨grind✨ esp when ur surrounded by ppl who may be further ahead and closer to ur own personal art goals. Now, instead of thinking “this isn’t good enough” I try to think “I can do better next time” and then I just keep going. Bc there’s only sm u can do, and we tend to spend a LOT of time looking at our past work and criticizing it, instead of working on new things and going in knowing that we can try to do smthn different this time.
I got recommended this whilst watching a different video, I recognised the drawing as I saw it earlier in this art server and was about to go on discord to ask you abt it but it really is you! this video is so helpful, I sort of struggle when it comes to colouring and the 3 colour tip helps a lot. I used to take 2 colours from random points of the colour wheel in an attempt to colour with them and it ends up looking not so great. I love your speedpaint process too, not sure if this was intended but you displaying the effect of the tips through your speedpaint really helps with understanding visually how each tip comes in handy with drawing ♡ I hope this channel grows because it is a hidden gem
I really like how I color. I use dull colors (which also makes my drawings flat) But it also relates to the fact I can't render with saturated colors for some reason. 😿 I got inspired by artists like Khouxy and NxngOna, but I do see that they too use saturated colors when necessary and I really want to know how to do that as well, not because of those artists but I wish to bring my drawings alive 😭😭 Because it's also now just getting boring. (And try correctly make use of decorating with star drawings, random squiggles on the head, backgrounds, etc) But this video is super helpful, thank you!
sometimes the best color palettes are dull and desaturated, with one or two bright accent colors! maybe try making a piece or practicing over previous digital pieces, find out what your focal point is and make it really POP with a glowy red or something. 🤷might be interesting!
2:51 NIGHT IN THE WOODS OH MY GOD⁉️⁉️ UR HUMAN DESIGN FOR BEA IS SO COOL!! I love ur art and these r some awesome tips! I’ve been trying to make my art more interesting and this is super helpful :3
This was a really great video! I got a lot of good reminders and helpful tips with coloring especially. ✨ I definitely clicked in too coz that thumbnail? POPPING with colors that I love. 💜👄💜
such a helpful video! i’ve found myself stagnating in my work and really struggling to figure out what to do to ‘level up’ my skills and start enjoying art again in the process and this video did a wonderful job of explaining the ways to do just that :-) small side note: beautiful art as always 🩷 i hope one day i see you in my sub box with millions of views because you seriously deserve it!!
My only problem with colour was that when I tried that it looked good on my laptop but then I opened it on my phone and it looked... off. Idk what to do about it ):
You can try to adjust the display settings on ur laptop or smthn I used to do sometimes is I would send screenshots during my art process to my self or friends so I could see how they colors rlly looked on my phone or to other ppl’s devices.
@@cheseisreal the frustrating thing is that sometimes it’s just near impossible for colors on very different devices to be exact. So the best u can do is work around it and don’t let it stop u from creating. And iPad and an iPhone are similar devices so the colors will be basically the same, if not exactly the same. But when I used a huion or Wacom on pc, colors looked a bit different. So I had to adjust my settings as best I could and then do the work arounds I mentioned in my other reply.
@@Sleepyuwus thank you for the tips!! i'll keep in mind to apply what works best, i think it was kind of silly that was what led me to stop creating as well. i am getting back to drawing again but i'll just have to remind myself it won't look as accurate as what i would expect ^^
Im watching a bunch of art tip videos because I'm struggling to draw one of my ocs, her name is Tomo and her color palette has green, orange, white and brown in it. Idk why im struggling to draw her and none of my other ocs💀
Honestly I think the same things apply, but instead of color picking directly from a color wheel, u have to pick it out irl based on whatever supplies you use + ur brain a bit more. My medium of choice is acrylic markers bc they’re veryyy vibrant & pigmented + don’t bleed. Sometimes it helps me to layout my markers in color order. Bc then it’s KINDA like a color wheel/spectrum irl. There’s not rlly a difference between the way I pick colors for traditional and the way I pick colors for digital. The only difference is I’m a bit more limited bc I don’t have access to unlimited colors irl lol.
I really want to utulise a lot of these tips, but i use ibis paint with a finger😭 for line weight i DO utilise speed, but its not rly the same. Im really hoping i can get a tablet for my bday and then save for a laptop
Most, if not all of these things can be done on Ibis w ur fingers ^^ it just takes some figuring out. Like for line weight, you can do it manually rather than w actual pen pressure. Like going back over certain areas, erasing/slimming some etc. As for devices, I draw on iPad currently, but I also have a huion display tablet. Online (like on Amazon) u can get renewed devices like iPads, which are cheaper than brand new. That’s how I got my iPad for $200 smthn! I have the iPad Pro 10.5 inch. Storage is very important tho so if u go this tour pay attention to that! I have one w 256 GB! It might be a lil more expensive than one w like 70 GB, but if ur gonna do art on a device you NEED a lot of storage.
I love your art!!! Can we work together on a project? I'm trying to break into streaming and I can't find any animations that look like me!! I'm a brown girl with shoulder length locs looking for emotes, and possibly a vtube thingy IDK and I'm willing to payy.

Me listening to that color segment when my art consists of mostly grays, blacks, and dark colors… *cries in monochrome*
