Maybe now that the gaps are closed up with the zip ties you could use hog ring to permanently secure the cover. I'm worried the ties would chafe the bottom seat.
@Robert DIY I was thinking that zip ties would rub on the seat bottom. The hog rings install from the outside with the teeth on the inside. The back surface is mostly smooth. The rings are used by upholstery shops and OEMs to secure seat covers to the frames in nearly every instance. The zip ties have that square block, and of course, we all know how sharp the clipped off ties can be.
@@RobertDIY Well the Swedish car parts ones are fake alcantara of lower quality. Buyer beware if you are not happy with Alex's products be prepared for abuse, name calling and the need to use buyer protection solve the issue. I'm not the only one. Robert from Elwood was the opposite. Your call, your reputation. I can post Alex's emails if you like.
I watched this hoping you would show how to remove the lumbar support knobs. I have a 99 XC70 that has a knob that only pushes the support out. When I turn the knob counter clockwise to put the support back in, it does nothing and the knob actually starts to get further away from the seat, The interior cables aren't snapped or I wouldn't be able to engage the lumbar support at all. I'm guessing the problem is with the knobs, but I can't remove them to see what is going on. It is the same on both seats. I just bought the car and can't drive it with the support stuck out because it hurts my back too much. Any advice would be appreciated.
Robert, if you ever get to Idaho, we have great fishing, I need some help on my, almost mint 1996 Platinum 850 turbo. The shift lock isn't working and a few other things. Cosmetically the car is in really good shape. Let me know.
@@nicko6710 What were your issues with the Swedish car part ones? I need at least a driver side skin for my XC and saw them available on both sites, but have no personal experience with either one.
@@StevesGarage The quality is just not there, the materials used were poor , the shape and fit are off, so I wanted a return. Alex from swedish car parts became offensive and abusive, when I said I didn't think the covers were represented correctly and I didn't want to pay a restocking fee. At the end of the day I respect Robert's views, but my and many others dealing with Swedish car parts was so horrible I'm surprised Robert still endorsed his business. I think there are better options with theses covers LS seats or Elwood. The Elwood one while not OEM are better made and the company is better to deal with.
@@nicko6710 Thanks for the detailed reply! Good to know your experience with them, I'm bookmarking Elwood now for the seat covers. One more question - I know they won't match perfectly since that's not possible, but are they close enough where doing one seat would be ok, or should I plan on recovering both front seats? My tendency would be to do both since it's just how I work, but my passenger seat is fine, while my driver is pretty bad.
Nice work on Elizabeth's ride, hope the rest of your stay in Cinncy goes well.
thanks.
Great job Robert looks very professional 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
The new covers are fantastic!! They might have some issues, but for a 28 year old car, good luck finding anything 100% OEM.
Not really issues if you are not a purist.

Why would a zip tie chafe more than a metal hog ring? I've had zip ties in some of my seats for over 200,000 miles.

The black Volvo saloon... looks like my car 😁😎
Nice
Awesom job👍👍
Thanks 👍
Keep up the great work!
God bless
Thank you! Will do!
Very nice!
Thanks!
Great product. I wish they’d make the tan 850R skins because I need a set badly, even if they aren’t identical matches!
Elwood industries. better made better service. similar price.
I have a set of the R ones and will see if they are a closer match.
The Elwood ones that I have are not alcantara, fake suede.

@@nicko6710 Roberts not a perfectionist, thats how he gets so much done. and they give him a deal over there.
Hey robert not seeing many color choices on their site mine is 1944 granite do they only have a couple choices? I have a 01 c70
you need to ask them. They don't have everything on their site unfortunately.

They are the same. This video may explain it a little better.

Elwood covers are far better made
I have a set of those and do not agree.
