I'm still running a 1999 V70 T5...His name is Ragnor...He has a few issues but he never lets me down. I love these old Volvos. The most practical and almost fast car I have ever owned..Great video..
I have 3 of these cars, each driven half million km 2 of em still in use and roadworthy and 1 for spare parts very minor issues through the years with these cars theyre always very reliable, powerful enough (T5) The best car i can get is a Volvo!

These cars really are great, I've only owned like 7 of them. I bought one for $500 USD that was a base model with a manual that had also been sitting quite a while. Gave it a new timing belt kit, PCV kit, oil, spark plugs, motor mount, and wheels. It now lives on with a guy who is using it as his new daily driver without issue :)
Safe mode happens when the computer of a vehicle has an issue with the logic. If the signal value sent to the computer by a sensor does not fall within the manufacturer's pre-programmed range, it will move to secondary programming. These processes are intended to safeguard the transmission against further harm that the signal mistake could cause. And XOXO, the red 1999 Volvo V70 parked next to the 850 brings me back so memories when I was 6, back in 2008.
Nice find, I really like these. These early 850s with the larger head lights are very rare in the UK. My dad got a saloon GLT version in 1993 and I remember it was pretty fast. I thought it sounded great, like an 80s Audi quattro when going fast.
Only the very early 850’s had four-bolt wheeks and the wagon was released a bit later than the sedan. There can’t be many four-bolt wagons in the world. I love these cars. The red V70 next to it is the same thing, just improved in every way.

Super well done video. The pro level camera work is very helpful for those who want to get them back on the road. Volvos are great cars. Too many are taken for granted, abused, then the car gets blamed. In Canada, towing a Volvo to the dealership is free, if it's done by Volvo!

I had a red 95 850 Glt sedan as a first car, awesome car and i loved revving it in gear past 4k, it sounds amazing then, but they seem to suffer from valve stem seals, that was the oil consumption on mine, seems the same on this, but i do miss that engine

Started a 960 after 10 years the other day. Started on the old 2L left in tank. Added 5L fresh fuel now runs sweet and smooth. Too much effort to take out the old fuel.

I saw reason why all cars were very rusty there. Owner of the cars keep his car in brick garage with concrete floor. Its worst thing to do. He should keep them outdoors or under roof only wihtout some walls or something like that.
Just did the same process with my 850 GLT vagon. Yes - changed fuel pump, but also after few year standstill the injectors are stuck, so You gotta connect them directly to battery, so they get more curret, to start working.
Volvo went downhill after the 700/900 series...the last of the rwd. The 850's inline 5 was a good engine but the rest of the car didn't have the same robust construction that the 700/900 series did.

A road service operator in Hawaii was going to try pulling my V70 out of a situation like that by wrapping a chain around the right front wheel drive axel shaft. Another guy from the same company (I had no choice it was a membership) tried "testing" my alternator by running the engine with the battery disconnected.
A new battery, Fresh fuel and vroom! Best car ever build.
There is something very rewarding about watching a tyre rise up after years of it gently slumping into the ground.

Quite bumpy ride.. in the90s 850 was safe and good car to drive. I had one, no problems but it was quite thirsty for petrol. Keep up the good work!
