Flip the bike on its bars and seat, bike stands better, Zip ties on fork and or chain stay of the frame if its rear wheel or use your front or rear brake pads and calibers to help with a zip tie on the brake lever in place, when you got 1/4" distance from brake pad to rim... start counting spokes from where the bend starts to end, if its bent from the left then loosen those spokes about 1/4" then tighten the 2 opposite sides from the 1 spoke you just loosened the same exact amount a 1/4" tight. I think it’s good when some mechanics have tools all over because it means they use them and are always working on stuff so it just shows how good you guys are because your constantly working on bikes
I was a bike mechanic for years in the mid 90's (I was changing my flats when I was 8yo, small annoying flex (I also ended up having to fix all my friends flats too, even after showing them how)) and the the new subtleties to how a bike is build is going in the right direction. I challenge you to find a 3 speed from the 50's and disassembly completely, 3 speed and all and show the viewers how far we come. Just the jump from the mid 90's to now has been a game changer.
I'd really love to see a detailed episode on bottom bracket on installs. Especially involving the spacers. I have a bike where my bearings won't seat all the way in because the long spacer is a little too wide. I hope this isn't a problem.
These are some of the most detailed and easy to understand videos ever! Thank you so much for doing this. A bike shop that's upfront and knows exactly what they're doing. With that being said, I would love to see a video on how to properly install cranks. Because I have run into a problem where I rotate the cranks with my arm but they seem a bit tight and don't rotate freely. If I loosen one of the crank bolts then it fixes the problem but then the crank bolt is loose. How to fix this problem so that the cranks can spin/rotate freely with the crank bolts secure and tight? Also noticed that when I pedal hard that I sometimes here this clicking/pop noise from my chain. Not sure if its related to the issue I mentioned or if it's something entirely different.
Thanks alf for going to epic. I'm stuck ag home under quarantine some of my family tested positive for covid. This vid made my day. Tell phu maybe some tech stuff on brake pads I know there's a wide selection
Thanks man I was wondering if anyone still used that bottom spacer on forks anymore because they don't seem to fit real good so I don't use em also your wheel truing video helped me a lot
Can you do a used bmx buying like things to look for vid? Ive been screwed on some secondhand purchases over the years just because i didnt know what issues to look for
I purchased a 1 1/8 front Forks but the Bolt that came with the headset I purchased it's the wrong size it's too small are there different size bolt for 1 1/8 threaded Forks
Love the tech stuff. I'm from the late 70s,80s Era and this is new to me. But I love some of the upgrades that's been made since then. Threadless forks and stem system is one of them that I really like. I really like the sealed bearings in the hubs and bottom bracket. Though I'm not sure what have with sealed bearings in my current (customized from previous owner) bike from the early 2000s a Kink Freebird. I will want to change to sealed bearings whatever is not sealed, eventually. Subscribed. 😎👍
solución argentina al problema... poner esa pista de rulemanes de spacer... .... es lo mismo poner la arandela de la corona de un lado o del otro? o sea que el lado "ancho" quede del lado de la palanca o de la caja?
that washer is what i need for my bike ive been using my bike without that hat washer and my chain keeps on making sound i cant afford to buy one of those washers because in our country you can just buy the washer alone its rare its either you buy it with the whole crank set and i dont have the budget for it lol
Phu said 5 mm below the stem, the recommended should be about 2mm. Good info though Phu helping a lot of these BMX jack mechanics out seen too many stripped stem bolts and top caps haha
