Wow I know something Fu doesn't...actually park guys ride a lower BB bc its closer to the ground and more stable for jumping and catching whips. Higher BB is for street, higher hops bc of body placement, and sprocket clearance like Ethan said. Very good insight, everyone support Epic for being a strictly BMX shop, and supporting riders such as ethan and giving them jobs. So dope hope it last for another 20 + yrs. 🤘

Phu you should talk about what could make your back wheel crooked. When I first started riding I didn't know what to buy and got a right hand drive but my right foot is forward. I think it would help to talk about weight distribution and the effectiveness of spacers and other things you could do to keep your back wheel straight without using tensioners. Great info, thanks guys. I'm beginner, going to buy my first bmx. I had a dirt bmx which was 33 lbs (15kg) way too heavy for me, and strange geometry - wasn't able to pick it up. So I would love to have a lighter bike to easily bunny hop, and spin, fakie, footjam basic stuff like that, maybe later some flatland stuff.
    I'm 5,34 tall (163cm).
Could you please give me some advice, what geometry would ease my way to learn those?
Thinking about W.T.P and Sunday....their beginner bikes looks lighter than the others.
What frame size, other length would be better if I have no possibility to try the bike before buy here in my country. :( Thanks for any useful advice.

Who am I to say, but I feel like the standover height should be from the floor to the top of the top tube. That's how it is measured in every other bike scenario. But in BMX, it's basically the size of the seat tube. Not sure why they use "standover" as opposed to just "seat tube length".

They need to have a bmx racer and freestyle there to really tell how much of a difference the geometry makes along with riders height also makes a difference. Like how a shorter rider can easily ride a bike with a CS length of 12.7 and not loop out so easily as someone 6’1 or above. Also try riding a bike with a 75.5 degree head tube and try racing it on a bmx track when you hit the jumps it’s harder leveling out the bike as with a 74 degree or even a 73 degree angle you can just coast over. Also how racing bmx bike are like 21.5 and over in toptube length with a long backend starting at 15 inch. All this is similar to skateboard longboards, motorcycle Hayabusa. The only people who say it doesn’t really matter is shorter riders who seem to ride 21 inch top tubes when they could still barspin with 20.5.

the chaistay length depends on your height also. ethan seems somewhat lanky, and of course he prefers a longer chainstay (not only longer top tube) than someone like Chad Kerley, cause his butt (and center of gravity) goes father back when he pulls the bar up. i really appreciate the video, especially the input of a pro, but boy, i think me, as a rough beginner, can explain most of this stuff better. Alfredo, which spoke the least, was the most coherent. worth mentioning that a higher bb will also require a higher front end, cause it sucks to have a high bb and pull on low bars (also, i doubt park riders have high bb's, like Phu mentions, since they need stability)

High bottom brackets make manuals easier. For catwalks low helps cause leg extension. But high still helps.
Headtube height also affects headset bearings. More stable less deflection. Also helps with strength.
Seat tube angle can also help. Also fly has always had options with short rear ends. Tierra and others. Only a few frames had long rear ends and it was like 13.75 which used to be standard.
11.5-11.8 is usually the amount of play you have on height. 74.5 used to be standard headtube angle. Seat tube is like 71 or 72.

I still don't like the steep head tube angles of modern geometry..I'd take an old 73-72 deg head tube anyday over modern design...I've even looked at using a bmx(race, like actual bmx)frame...I wish we could use a different word like we used to say freestyle...which sounds seriously dated...but fits better.
