I was at a rock festival in Sweden in 2005 where Sebastian played. The concert was awesome (I am/was a long time fan of Skid Row). Afterwards he held a meet and greet and my brother and I were first in line. He asked my name and I said Rikke and then he immediately sang the first verse of 18 and Life for me - switching "boy" with "girl". I was speechless. He was so sweet, kind and humble to talk to and I will never ever forget it.

Sebastian Bach is, in my humble opinion, one of the most underrated rock vocalists of all time. I hardly ever hear him mentioned when people mention the greatest vocalists or greatest frontmen.

    • @davidboeger6766

Agreed. I think part of the problem is Skiw Row just gets lumped into that generic last wave of hair metal trying to hang on while grunge was taking over the world. A lot of those bands don't really get judged on their own merit but as weird products of their time. Sebastian Bach definitely stands out as one of the greater talents from that scene.

Hi, crime author here. First off; thanks for being you. I've recently learned that I can sing (my SO introduced me to where my voice is, she had some choir training), and I've been following your channel and learning a lot. Keep doing your thing!
Anyhow, your comment about "why do guys keep guns in their pants??" I can (sorta) explain that. That style of carry is called "Appendix carry" or "Mexican carry". Yes, it's associated with criminals and yes, it's as dangerous a way of carrying a gun as you'd imagine for all the reasons you can think of. And yes, plenty of criminals are admitted to hospitals across the country from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the...groin area.
Why people do it; mostly its so they can throw guns away if police are chasing them and have no connection to said gun - after all, if the cops don't actually catch you with the gun it isn't your gun. Also, it apparently feels "manly" and "badass" to have a gun shoved down your pants. I don't get that part any more than you do, but apparently it takes all kinds.

Wasted Time is a must. Besides Sebastian's literally unbelievable range, this video shows his talent in relaying emotion. This is not just a song. It is a personal plea to a friend who has been deafened by falling into the black hole of heroin addiction. I don't think there is a more perfect example of the whirlwind of emotions experienced by those who have watched someone they love killing themselves and not being able to reach them. He sings from the depths of his soul and his pain is palpable. It is soul crushing and will leave you speechless. In my opinion, it is a masterpiece.

as for your comments about his future, while I personally consider him one of the greatest singers I've ever heard, age wasn't kind to his voice & his career became more obsession with what he lost when kicked out of Skid Row, but fortunately we got 2 great albums & plenty more music videos to review of them 🤣(in no particular order) Monkey Business, Quicksand Jesus, Slave to the Grind, Youth Gone Wild 🤟

You could say that this song is about stupid mistakes of youth that can ruin your life. Dave Sabo wrote this song originally about his brother Rick that came home from Vietnam a different person but couldn't make the lyrics work so they changed it to be a story about an 18 year old boy who shot his friend by accident. He thought the gun wasn't loaded.

    • @AnnaluisaSocher

That's interesting. I thought that originally Dave Sabo wrote this song with the lyrics referring to his brother who served in Vietnam, and as he came back home, he was a different person. It was Jon Bon Jovi who gave him advice about making the subject of the song related more to everyone else's experiences, so listeners could find something on which they could relate. Recently I watched an interview with Rachel Bolan who pointed out this.

Incredible, incredible vocal performance aside… over time I had forgotten what a simply well written and produced song this is. From the transitional bit between the first chorus and second verse, to the transition from the second chorus into the bridge (love how featured that bass fill is!)… Speaking of that bridge… what a bridge! Those unison single-note guitar lines build such tension, releasing into the vocal climax of the song, and a great, melodic guitar solo to follow. And Bach’s (fantastic) vocal gymnastics in the outro are underpinned by a fairly significant dynamic shift in the music… the acoustic guitars sneak back in under the electrics, and that beautiful counter-melody by the lead guitar, culminating in that brief outro solo. What a tune! One of the first I learned (poorly!) when I first started playing.
