- I've had Steelheart on my list for a couple years now, but I've never heard of Miljenko Matijevic before, nor the song "She's Gone." So I'm walking into this analysis extremely blind, which is almost always the best situation!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Steelheart for the first time, performing "She's Gone”.

Steelheart - never let you go
I have never heard "She's Gone" before. Steelheart was famous for "Never Let You Go".
@@epistte You didn't have the album did you? LOL... his vocals are amazing. "Everybody Loves Eileen" is another good demonstration of his range.
@@dethangelsshadow1722Love Ain’t Easy…The Steelheart album is solid all the way through. Good Pop Rock. Great hair.
I've always liked that one.
Steelheart
Firehouse
Skid Row!
Next has gotta be Never Let You Go. Was by far Steelheart's biggest hit.
Paradice
"I'll Never Let You Go" is top notch. That man can SING sing.
Miljenko Matijevic is amazing, and will always be amazing. He is STILL slaying! Gotta do I'll Never Let You Go and of course We All Die Young!
“I’ll never let you go” is a must do from steelheart
YES, YES, YES! They're biggest hit.
Steelheart - I'll Never Let You Go....he's got vocal chops!
Everyone is saying it, "Never Let You Go" - set the music worlds ears on notice. They should have been bigger but they were struck by a horrible tragic accident that nearly killed the singer. He still performs as Steelheart today though, and while he can still sing amazingly, he just can't quite hit the highs he did back in the day (that is not a knock, those highs were insane and he did it with no auto tune, backing tracks...just him and a piano...we need more of this in today's music!!!). He still is a great rock singer and if you have the chance to see him live, go!
Most underrated singer of our time.
Mili still performing very well and he´s now 59 yo. He´s also the real voice of Mark Wahlberg character on the movie Rockstar as a lead singer of the fictional band Steel Dragon. Great choice! Can´t wait to see it!
I got the Soundtrack and the Movie at home
@@michaelbuttner4262 Me too! And both Mili and Jeff Scott Soto are great on this soundtrack!
Yah he sung standup and shout for that movie
Rockstar also features a very young Myles Kennedy.
I don't like this song at all and do not think it showcases his talent. Not to mention, the lyrics are corny. However, he rocks in Rockstar and the quintessential rock voice comes out with clarity.
I’ve been telling you about steel heart for the last two years but the song you got it analyzes I’ll never let you go
I can not express how ecstatic I am you're finally giving Mili his moment! Better late than never!
Yes! Now we just need to get Steve Perry.
I’ll never let you go is so epic it will blow your mind! The range he has is incredible, massive, epic, frickin unbelievable!!! You’re awesome btw , I love how expressive you are❤️❤️
I'll never let you go... next please
Steelheart Never let you go.👍👍
It has to be Never Let You Go, We All Die Young and Everybody Loves Eileen!
Now, check out Tommy Johansson's (formerly a Guitarist of Sabaton, he just left to focus on his own band) Cover of "She is Gone"
Must say he's better than Steelheart
the fact that he's chewing gum too is amazing as well.
His gum chewing is amazing.
@@manchegocheese997 Hahaha!
i believe he chews gum to keep his mouth salivating..natural vocal lubricant
😂😂😂
Honestly, most would NEVER have noticed he chews gum constantly.
OMG I wish Sooo bad you would have done "Ill Never Let You Go". My favorite song from Glam Rock..
this is more impressive though.
I still listen to it almost every day.
It's the most played song on my end of year spotify highlights list.
Yeah, it's a shame that this is her first taste.
@@ohTaazR No it's not.
@@thorfinsky1427 lol this is raw, live and acoustic. Didn’t say it was better, they’re both great songs, but how can it not be more impressive in this setting
Live, sitting down, chewing gum and hitting those notes in front of an audience! The man is absolutely amazing. The band itself is also very good. I agree you must do “ I’ll Never Let You Go”.
Definitely one of my favorites. Thank you for finally doing Steelheart! 👏💯
I'll Never Let You Go by Steelheart absolutely has to be next
You MUST check out “Never Let You Go” with some of the all-time great hair metal vocals
We are lucky to still have Milo. During a concert he tried climbing a light rig which wasnt tied down properly. When he jumped off the 1 ton structure fell on him crushing his back, smashed head to floor but yet jumped up and walked off then spent months in hospital
So glad someone mentioned this incident. Makes his comeback even more special.
That was at McNichols Arena in Denver. It took him years to fully recover. In an interview he said he was constantly in a mental fog for years then one day it was like a switch flipped and he had clarity again.
Spinal Tap moment.
There is a clip of the accident on YT, its really creepy to know how it could have gone.
I didn't know this, wow, makes him even more amazing!
NEVER LET YOU GO!! You will be absolutely BLOWN AWAY!
Favorite love song ever
Never Let You Go
Steelheart ❤
I asked many times a couple of years back for you to do an analysis of Steelheart, 'I'll Never Let You Go'. Please do that next. He and his band were so amazing!
Anytime I see someone crush the high notes like this I have to pop in and suggest Rik Emmit from Triumph. Live from the US Festival 1983- Fight The Good Fight, Lay it On The Line, absolutely unreal upper register live!
The other great Canadian trio. Both songs from that concert make for a great reaction.
I have suggested Triumph a number of times but they keep falling on deaf ears
Would love Elizabeth to listen to THE BLINDING LIGHT SHOW!
keep suggesting ,i will and if enough others do, who knows@@Wild1BillS
Rik Emmett had that dog whistle register that he'd bust out of nowhere! 😂
My Glam-rock heart always breaks a little when I hear Steelheart and Miljenko, such incredibly good songs and what a Voice!! The fact that they are not more talked about and known really stings💔🔥
Great review Elizabeth. I am so glad you finally did a Steelheart song and it was a really great choice. I definitely think "I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)" should be your next song by this amazing band. That song, IMO, is the #1 power balad ever created.
I was very fortunate to get to meet and hear Miljenko, I believe it was in 2007, at Blarney Stone's for Myrtle Beach's Bike Week. There were friends of mine playing, a group called Black Glass, and Ronnie Roger's their lead singer started to play and sing Steelheart's "I'll Never Let You Go" (some people call it Angel Eyes) and Miljenko jumped up on stage with Ronnie and sang it with him. When Ronnie got to the hardest part of the song, Miljenko stepped back, smiled, pointed, and started clapping for Ronnie. Miljenko is an amazing singer and a super nice guy. He's also the singer for Mark Wahlberg in the 2001 movie Rock Star.
What a class act! He is truly amazing!
Thanks for reacting to Steelheart, my favorite band out of this era. They were late to the scene, always underrated and then the horrible accident happened. Milli is singing again and still sounds great. He is chewing gum throughout this song and usually did during a performance. He said it was to keep his throat moist so he could hit the high notes.
Never let you go
One of the most iconic tunes that they did I believe.
Still love to listen to that song.
As mentioned above, you need to check out Tommy Johanssons cover of She's gone.
You should listen and react to all his covers.
He's a music genius, incredible talanted vocalist.
Also incredible at playing a lot of instruments.
As soon as I heard you were doing Steelheart, I was so looking forward to your reaction. I was not disappointed. As others have said, the full band song will be "I'll Never Let You Go".
Tommy Johansson does a PHENOMENALLY good cover of this
I agree 110%
I havent listen to this and will never do. Tommys version is just perfect. The only one for me. 😀
I've watched this original video so many times and been listening to this song for decades, so when he kicks it into high gear and your face was an absolute picture and the response afterwards was just classic "That is just REDICULOUS" love it.
Dude you HAVE to do "never let you go". That man's vocal range is out of this world
She's Gone was a huge hit in South Korea. Miljenko spent 4 months learning how to sing in Korean and entered the "King of Masked Singers" TV show in 2016 as the character "A Quiet Sort of Lightning Man", to the confusion of the judges who couldn't quite place the accent 😂
와.꼬레안이다
Never Let You Go FOR SURE ❤
“I’ll never let you go” and “Everybody loves Eileen” are 2 of my favorites. Milijenko aka Mike the lead singer hits some more of those killer notes in each of those songs.
Hi Elizabeth, I'm sorry to say that I haven't watched TH-cam for a while and I totally freaked out when I noticed in the sidebar suggestions that you FINALLY analyzed Steelheart!!! I immediately went to your video instead of watching the one I originally went to TH-cam for. I have been begging for years ever since you started doing hard rock/metal to listen to the vocals of Steelheart. I knew that you would love Miljenko Matijevic! Hopefully your next review of Steelheart will be "I'll Never Let You Go". Back in the day EVERY time the local rock station would play that song the DJ would have to answer several calls and when he/she would came back "on air" they would announce that the question everyone was asking "Who the heck was that?" "It was Steelheart" and hopefully gained new fans. I agree with other comments below that We All Die Young and Everybody Loves Eileen would also be fun for you to analyze. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love your channel.
Skid Row's Wasted Time and Quicksand Jesus should be on your radar. Total masterpieces with Sebastian behind the mic.
True BACH is ONE of the top vocals ever
Quicksand Jesus is underrated!
In a Darkened Room, too!
I'd never heard of Steelheart until i heard the version by Tommy Johansson 😊
What's bonkers is the OG guy is as good. I mean Tommy is amazing, but I'll bet you didn't expect the original to be as powerful
This guy's has one of THE most amazing voices. You should really pay closer attention to him. The band didn't get the attention they deserved, but ask anyone in the music industry about him, you will get the same response. He is next level vocal. It's sp sad he had an accident that damaged his vocal chords. He can still belt, but the gift was damaged beyond repair. A true tragedy.
Need to check out Miljenko Matijevic story as he had an accident while on stage where the lighting rig fell and hit him in the head. Miljenko Matijevic ended up with amnesia and not only had to relearn how to speak but also had to relearn all of his songs to be able to sing them. Was such a dark time in his life but has come back stronger than ever.
I've been waiting for ages for You to react to one of the greatest voices in Glam Metal. I'm also stunned that no one has suggested our Swedish meastro of covers (and of course his own band Majestica), Tommy Johansson. Tommy was one of the lead guitarists in Sabaton for 7 years (he just announced he's leaving to pursue his own band). He has made covers of famous songs for a couple of years now and post a new one weekly on Fridays.
Tommy did this son "She's Gone" back in the spring of 2022 and I would LOVE if You would check that one out as weel - And by then deep dive in his fantastic voice. He does not only have a wonderful voice, but he also plays all instruments on his covers.
Tommy Johansson - She's Gone (Steelheart Cover): th-cam.com/video/CC0EJpUq-Os/w-d-xo.html
If You wanna check his band Majestica out, start with "Above The Sky": th-cam.com/video/yt9Ma1W_0wI/w-d-xo.html
Definitely “I’ll never let you go”. But I also recommend Skid Row Wasted Time. Sebastian Bach is also an amazing singer from that era.
I love Wasted Time! Such a great song!
I'll never let you go!!!! The vocals are awesome
Been waiting on this reaction for almost 3 years, so glad to finally see this happen
I see everyone has already said this, but angel eyes, (never let you go) shows the pipes on this dude
Great White - Rock Me
Listen to how well laid out and balanced this song is!
Solid choice
I absolutely love great white and "rock me"! Being a bass player this songs bass line is so damn sexy and groovy.i love great whites bluesy rock.i second " rock me"!
I wonder what she would think of Sebastian Bach and Skid Row? "18 and Life" would be too traumatic for her first listen.
@@epistte oh I think the skids and Bach will be coming soon enough
Great White all time favorite band 😍
Never let you go,,,,,incredible vocalist
Now you know why we have been clamoring for you to analyze Steelheart. Miljenko is of Croatian Descent.
At the end of their U.S. tour in 1992 opening for Great White, Steelheart was invited to open an additional show for the band Slaughter. On Halloween night, at the McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado, Steelheart was performing "Dancing in the Fire" from the Tangled in Reins album when Matijevic was involved in a serious accident. Matijevic decided to climb a lighting truss which was for some reason improperly secured. He failed to climb the rig and also failed to dodge the 1000 pound piece of equipment, which hit him in the back of the head, driving him face first into the stage. The outcome of the accident was a broken nose, cheekbone, jaw, twisted spine, and severe memory loss. Matijevic found the strength to walk off the stage and was immediately taken to the hospital. The incident marked the end of the original lineup of Steelheart.
Can’t wait to watch this. Also you should check out Tommy Johansson.
Definitely need to do "I'll Never Let You Go".Not sure if there's a live version, but the album version will more than do.The video for it is pretty good too.The guy lives in the top end on that one.
I saw Steelheart in a small venue in 1990 when they were touring for their self-titled album. I liked them enough to ride a motorcycle in the pouring rain and see the show absolutely soaked, but I walked away from that show liking them even more. To say I was impressed would be an understatement.
Back then, we all expected singers to fall a little short from their often over-produced studio recordings when performing live; but that was not the case with Miljenko. What a talent!
I think, “I’ll Never Let You Go” or, “Everybody Loves Eileen” would be the next go-to songs to review here.
Elizabeth, Please react to Steelheart - " I'll never let you go" You'll really like it . The lead singer has a GREAT singing voice. Can't wait for your reaction to it! ❤ 👍!
More Steelheart please! I found out about this band when the movie Rock Star came out. Miljenko Matijevic is the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg in the movie. I really like the movie so I checked out the band and I just love them. Other suggestions from them: "I'll Never Let You Go", "Sheila", "Gimme Gimme" and "Like Never Before". 😎👍
'Gimme Gimme' SLAMS!!! Same with 'Down N' Dirty'. Their debut album opened with three so-so songs then the rest of the album was killer material. Except for 'Everyone Loves Eileen'.....it fits in the rack with the first three tracks. Six absolute bangers from a ten track album is a good hit rate and Mike's voice is so gravelly on a few tracks it surprises. I love Steelheart.
Ooooh yes on Sheila. You gotta have an enormous range to pull that off! ✨
Tommy Johansson does a version of this song he’s the ex lead guitarist in Sabaton but he has his solo stuff you need to check out also. As far as this song I’m glad you picked this version because it’s live And back in the day he could sing it just like the studio when a lot of singers out there could not.
Tommy isn't Sabaton guitarist anymore, he's left the band like a few weeks ago.
@@mikoajnierada7857 oh wow , I have not heard that thanks for the info
He also has his own band, Majestica.
@@austindermody302 yeah , they are good also 👍
Finally! You did this video. I thought I was the only one who recommended this about a year ago. I'm glad so many others did as well. He is an amazing singer despite the "hair band" association. The other video from Steelheart - " I'll never let you go"... a ballad of course as mentioned below by a lot of people, has more ear candy you will love.
Now do Tommy Johann's version. Luv to know your opinion. Audio guy AUS. 😉. 🤘🤘🤘
Tommy Johansson covers a few Steel Heart songs, including this one. As you can imagine, with Tommy's range, he does it very well.
I absolutely love Tommy's versions. His voice is insanely amazing!
I can't wait to see this - and after that please react to the cover of this song by Tommy Johansson - Greetings from Germany, Maik
I was going to make the same suggestion! 😊
Thanks, I'll never let you go,I have been suggesting steel heart from the time I first watched your channel
Been waiting for a couple of years for you to do this one. Always knew that you'd "nerd" out on his vocals. He was and is amazing. Best line of the reaction, " That is ridiculous." Lol
Now you have to do Tommy Johansson's cover.
Yea. Would be a dream if she reacted to all of tonmys videos 😂 he is just something else.
Can sing anything ❤ #tommyjohansson #reinxeed
It was very past time we visited Steelheart! 🤘🤘
There are two pioneering ladies of metal that haven't been on the show, Doro and Liv Cristine. How about changing that?
Up vote for DORO!
I would love to see your reaction to Doro Pesch live
@@kevinjackson2893 I second this
Never let you go
Thank you for doing Steelheart! I've been waiting for this.
Maybe she will finally react to Tommy Johansen after this.
Never let you go.
Gotta love when Elizabeth geeks out. Every video I hope she does, that look on her face is precious and this channel is usually a wholesome break in my everyday filled with bad news. Thank you Elizabeth for what you do. Every video you put out brings smiles to hundreds and thousands of people. :)
TCV: I've been listening to your videos for many years, and just want to say: Thank You! Your commentary has been so very instructive, and entertaining.
Tommy Johannson does a killer cover of this and Never Let You Go.
check out Tommy johansson's cover of this song 💖
Dude legit uses his regular speaking voice through all registers and octaves. He never hits head voice and damn sure doesn't hit falsetto. The single best singer I can think of.
Better than Jim Gillette ever could hope to be and even better than Halford. Just THE straight up GOAT.
In my opinion, Sebastian Bach in his prime topped this guy by a trillion. In concert, Sebastian was able to actually hit all his notes and sound amazing. Mili failed the task for me every time he sang live.
Wow. This is taking me way back. I haven’t thought about Steelheart in years.
"I'll Never Let You Go" is the song that he really shows off on, you REALLY should react to and analyze that song!!!!
We all die young - Steelheart
Another fantastic song by STEELHEART
Early 90s, I'm on my night shift at a hotel, 1 am the security guard arrives for his walk-around thingy, but this night he comes in wide-eyed and asks if I've ever heard of a band called Steelheart. He said he had to pull aside for a stop at the highway when he heard "She's Gone" on his car radio.
That's how I was introduced to Miljenko Matijevic.
I’m SO glad u did this vid!!!
You’re going to dig Milo bending back about 90 degrees singing “I’ll Never Let You Go” in the video.
Now you got to do never let you go. So glad you are doing this band. Keep up the great work
So glad you finally did this one!!
Steelheart "Love ain't easy"...their 1st song from their 1st album...
Head banging, hard rock and high notes vocals!!! 🤟🏻🤘🏻🎸 🎤
Everyone is begging for I’ll never let you go, but I’ll put my vote in for their song Steelheart off of their second album. Huge high notes and shows off the clarity of his singing at a fast clip.
About time. Good choice on the acoustic version. I'll Never Let You Go is their other "big" hit (relatively) you should have a listen.
They were on their way up and Millie suffered an on-stage accident to his head and lost the ability to sing. He recovered just in time for the genre to die in favor of the short lived grunge era to emerge, thus missing their chance to make it to the mainstream of hard rock. (short version of their history). Millie also suffered a minor stroke about 6 months ago and was back on tour by early September. (40+ min interview on Flickering Box 8/23-ish).
This is so very awesome. What a voice! Love your reaction! ♥
He is truly an incredible vocalist! 🙏😁👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Elizabeth! I have been waiting patiently for you to check out Steelheart. Mili is back touring and recording with Steelheart, and I think he would be a fabulous guest for Tea Time!
2 requests:
Definitely check out Steelheart music video "I'll Never Let You Go".
Check out Tommy Johannson's cover of "She's Gone".
I agree, Never Let You Go. Another brilliant performance. Will plug Triumph again as an amazing power trio out of Canada (the other one lol) with a lead vocalist of amazing range.
I've waited for Steelheart for forever !!! LOVE THIS...
Please, Please - review Never Let You Go !!!
The unplugged Sheila version of these guys is great too : When a skilled singer just goes crazy in a genre that you wouldn't expect.
He is one of those male voices that give me goosebumps.
I'll agree with everyone else and suggest "I'll never let you go" mind blowing vocals, and tight band all around. The drummers kit is sick.
His kit is sick🤘
As so many others have said you need to listen to "I'll Never Let You Go". The studio version. Although in the more recent live versions he hasn't lost his voice much at all.
I begged you for over a year to check out Miljenko and Steelheart. Finally! Thank You!
Thank you so much for this video, I have been asking you forever to analyze in my opinion one of the most incredible singers, I knew you would love to hear Mil, thanks again.
Finally... Steelheart has come to The Charismatic Voice to be analyzed by Elizabeth.
As many other's have said, I'll Never Let You Go. Must do!!
The reaction I didn’t know I needed today after a long day! Watching you totally geek out brings me great joy!
My mind popped lmao that was such a unique adjective for hearing Milo run through his gambit of vocal register. I just love watching you review these singers lol
