A dinosaur that every single Yamaha dealership has crate after crate of extra models for each year just ready to build up that you can buy for nothing... often $1000 less than MSRP. Now that's a deal on brand new tried and true technology.
What your not comparing is price to performance. Right now I am researching all models, KTM, Gasgas(KTM), Beta and so on, Besides the beta Xtrainer all of them are 10k+, Right now I can get a 2023 yz250x for $8000 a good $2000-3000+ cheaper than all the other brands. To me the price to performance of the YZ250 seems pretty good and don't get me wrong I have hated Yamaha for a long time, after all they are the ones who tried to kill the 2 stroke and yet here I am researching one of their 2 strokes.
This is the first rider I have ever heard that hates this bike I know that throwing a leg over is sometime not enough gotta set sag and clicker to be productive on a powerful bike
@@mxgryan I’m hoping to have it a long time. These hold value better over a long period of time. I’ve been buying new bikes every year… sometimes two and I’m done with that. He lost me in the first 20 seconds. “I don’t like the front forks” yet kayaba is the best stock suspension you can get… period” Its not in the same universe as a ktm because most pro level riders will reach for the YZ 9 out of 10 times. The ktm is great but the Yamaha is well known for being one of the funnest, most comfortable bikes you can ride.
After riding both KTM and Yamaha, I’m still so impressed with the broad power of the Yamaha. It doesn’t have the snap or mid of the KTM, but the power is so manageable and broad. The KTM is really good but just signs off too early. Mix the KTM and Yamaha and you have the perfect motor. Suspension is so rider preference that I don’t think it matters. I enjoy the Yamaha and think it’s much more consistent than the WP, but someone could be completely different. Overall, the title of this video is pretty click baitey and I guess is worked, I’m here lol but I disagree about the Yamaha being a dinosaur. It’s just more broad and manageable while the KTM is short and sweet.
The KTM TBI system is not short and sweet, it's a far more usable power range than the Yamaha. IMO. I agree with everything else you said though. What I like least about the Yamaha is the vibration for sure.
@@mxgryan yeah man I don’t know what to say, just agree to disagree on the power curve. I’m sure the 300 is different but that is what I feel on the 250s. As for vibration, I’ve got an 01 CR500 so both bikes feel completely vibration-less lol.
You can’t compare any European bike the the legendary YZ.. maybe it’s a little too much bike for you and you won’t admit it.. why change something that’s already been perfect for over 20 years. Maybe stick to your euro bikes and leave the YZ alone. I’ve ridden and raced it of bikes and I’d pick a yz250 over anything even my 22 CRF450R
No, probably not. But luckily it doesn't need to be, since $8949 (KTM) minus $7899 (Yamaha) is only about $1000. Would I pay $1000 more to be riding a bike from this millenia? Sure.

Doh doh doh good one
If you take a ktm and remove the counterbalancer, Efi, estart, hydro clutch, 5-6hp, lose 30% fuel mileage, modern ergonomics, electric powervalve and not needing to jet. You'd have a yz and it would still weigh the same, the blue pig.
Agreed.
They haven’t changed anything in years about like Suzuki it shouldn’t be a surprise
I bought these bikes back in the day as I was broke.
Ktm fan boy.
Eat my shorts Japanese squid
Yamaha 2 strokes & 927. Nothing better!
Gross
You seem to have just ridden that bike faster and more relaxed than your KTM 450 FE.
Hmmm. Well I'm definitely not consciously enjoying it more! Haha
A dinosaur that every single Yamaha dealership has crate after crate of extra models for each year just ready to build up that you can buy for nothing... often $1000 less than MSRP. Now that's a deal on brand new tried and true technology.
I'm just as fast on my dinosaur 09 YZ250 as I am on any other bike.
Me too
Its heck of fun bike for a dinosaur. The only thing I like better with the ktm is the electric start.
Well yeah, I have a CRF230F that is an absolute blast to ride too. I still don't make claims that it's something it's not though.
@@mxgryan You seem to be the outlier , only you don't like it and complain about it . Every other review of the YZ 250 it's raved about .
@@herbcanter2114 maybe in 2003
Neville Bradshaw said the yz250 with a brc 500 top end is the best bike hes ever rode
What your not comparing is price to performance.
Right now I am researching all models, KTM, Gasgas(KTM), Beta and so on, Besides the beta Xtrainer all of them are 10k+,
Right now I can get a 2023 yz250x for $8000 a good $2000-3000+ cheaper than all the other brands.
To me the price to performance of the YZ250 seems pretty good and don't get me wrong I have hated Yamaha for a long time, after all they are the ones who tried to kill the 2 stroke and yet here I am researching one of their 2 strokes.
There's less than $1000 difference in MSRP. That's nothing.
This is the first rider I have ever heard that hates this bike I know that throwing a leg over is sometime not enough gotta set sag and clicker to be productive on a powerful bike
If it was a ktm he’d be saying it was the best bike that was ever made lol
She's an ol girl but she'll get you places
Very true!
@@mxgryan but an e start and some new goodies would be sick!
The electric start and hydraulic clutch is not needed. I have a 250 and its fun to ride. 50.1 hp is awesome
You know what else isn't needed? Vibration isn't needed.
Ill take the forks over WP all day. (ive had both...) this bike is BY FAR the cheapest bike to own. Hands down. Thats why I own one.
Mayne if you're gonna keep it for 10 years. Otherwise a 450 is much cheaper to own.
@@mxgryan I’m hoping to have it a long time. These hold value better over a long period of time. I’ve been buying new bikes every year… sometimes two and I’m done with that. I don’t race, I’m not very fast. Im a weekend warrior. FOR ME… the yz250 covers all the bases. Four strokes depreciate too fast for me to keep one for very long.
I have the 22 YZ250. It does make my hands and feet tingle. 😆
My feet are still tingling and I rode it 2 weeks ago lol
And a KTM 450 will shake the fillings out your teeth 😬
@@hightower005 maybe in 2015. Not anytime recently.
Ahhh, so you subscribe to the cult then too?
Can anybody please tell me the engine code for the 2023 YZ250?
I am also interested
Get a KTM. Pay $3500 more.
KTM is $1000 more, so no. Try again?
what are your gopro settings?
Im hooked on KTM
I'm hooked on anything made in this millenia
Do you run 40:1 on the mix ?
Idk, it's a demo bro

I bought the 4 stroke and I regret it.
Out dated motor no hydro clutch or air forks I would rather the 2023 ktm 250 or 300
Power difference night and day between TPI 250SX?
Nah not power...just delivery of it, handling, finish
Creature comforts vs reliability
No.
Hahahahahaa that shows your ignorance.
So the KTM is $4000.00 better?
No, probably not. But luckily it doesn't need to be, since $8949 (KTM) minus $7899 (Yamaha) is only about $1000. Would I pay $1000 more to be riding a bike from this millenia? Sure.
@@mxgryan Bad on me, I suppose. I went to a local dealers website and they don't list any prices for KTM's. But the last time I did see a price it was 12K for one of their enduro models.
What? This is crazy to me I hate my air forks and I’m selling my 2022 fc350 to go back to the yz250. People are still qualifying for nationals on these bikes so your opinion is just that compared to facts. I know tons of people that scrapped their wp for kyb
I don't remember saying anywhere that people couldn't go fast on them?
Maybe get some more experience then do a review on KTM vs Yamaha...KYB is inherently better. KTM's are unreliable junk
30 years is plenty enough, cult boy.
@@mxgryan 💀
Hopefully yamaha dose efi and electric start
I’ve had 3 ktm,s with air forks and all of them I switched to spring conversion ktm air forks are junk
Oh, that's just user error.
They develop major Stiction over time, I just installed 6500 cartridges and night and day more plush but I did like the air fork when it was working good
Just ride the bike how it’s supposed to be ridden. Wide open
Ask your mom
Yes it's old tech, very outdated compared to the KTM. You can at least work on it. The new ones not so much.
I don't want to work on bikes at all, I want to ride them.
@@mxgryan then you should be in the market for a KTM Freeride. Charge the battery, occasionally check the spokes and lube the chain. That is it for maintenance. Of course the range is only about 22mi. But zero maintenance.
@@easternyellowjacket276sounds like that exactly what he needs.
You're talking KTM now you talking about the two stroke or four stroke brcm I've ridden both the KTM has just as much vibration. But if you are riding a stock bike yz250 usually the footpegs are usual switched out for better also. I did because of vibration also. The shock oil and springs were gone also heavier spring and a 7 on shock oil seemed to do better.
You're out of your mind if you think a KTM two stroke vibrates like a YZ LOL
@@mxgryan He probably never road one. KTM's are counterbalanced. They do not vibrate at all even the 300 is smooth as butter. And the power is always there no carb stutter.

Lol. Then get a 250 sx.
@MXG not the same bike but I get your point. Why is the sx so much cheaper than the xc

I still ride 2006 rm 250 it's great wouldn't swap it for nothing I've never owned 4 stroke either because I know there easier to ride and boring I also know I don't need all best suspension the last gen 2 strokes honda cr rm yz kx 250s they ain't that much slower than 450 less your racing top pro rider the older 250 s strokes are still good enough and I know my 2006 rm 250 is 17 years later anyway always keep to strokes alive just ride it one more thing do ktm bolts still snap easy like older ktms did even when you use torque wrench to right setting 😂😂
