As a woman I disagree. My husband took me to a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant with subpar food. We had a great conversation and 10 years later I’m happy that I gave love a chance and didn’t put silly stipulations on our date.

I was supposed to take a sister on a first date last year. I recommended something like Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory. She scoffed at it and made a recommendation for a $200/plate fancy spot in Vegas. When I balked at it, she said it's okay if you broke. I said okay cool. I blocked her right after that call. I went to Capital Grille the next day alone just to be a dick. It was a good as hell, and I had a good time solo. If you approach me with avarice, I walk away. Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't go on a first date at an expensive spot. It shows me who the woman is deep down.

Thank goodness I'm married cause I couldn't date in today's environment. Back in 2001, I picked up my now wife in my mom 1992 Corolla 😂, and went to a chain restaurant at a mall for our first date. Happily married with 3 beautiful kids, 20+ years 😊

I once took my female cousin to TGIFridays and she said “I hope you never take a girl you’re dating here.” I think it’s very possible women helped make this list like the list said. That being said, that doesn’t mean most women (and most black women) wouldn’t be against this list.
My first date with my girlfriend was at my house. I cooked for her & we played Cards & dominoes. She spent the night & went to the beach the next day.
I wouldn’t recommend that for a first date. Sometimes one night stands move on to something bigger, but most of the time they don’t. I wouldn’t suggest a date at someone’s place as the first date, because that’s where it would lead.

The most generous interpretation is that, a mom pop/family owned restaurant is better than a chain restaurant.
