As a society, we desperately need to STOP makin blanketed statements of entire groups of ppl. If your sentence starts with over generalizing a whole group of ppl I can guarantee you your wrong. All men don’t do the same thing and all women don’t do the same things. It’s makes ppl sound dumb when they do this.

I started courting my wife back in 2009. And she was the only girl I ever courted because she was the only girl to accept me for who I was as a person. The rest of the girls came into the relationship with baggage from their previous relationships and had intentions of changing who I was to fit the mold of their standards. Those girls weren’t “courting material” for my standards. But my wife was worth it and is still worth to this very day.

Courting is damn near nonexistence because we live in a "on to the next one" type of mentality. It's so easy to swipe, match and unmatch based on the smallest thing that irritates them in the conversation. Ghosting is a thing now as well. People are detaching their emotions and moving on quickly.

It’s so strange to watch this shift in men’s mentality in regards to dating women. Before I was married the most fun I ever had was going out with the homies and trying to bag girls. Seeing who could could get a girl to get her number and get her and her friends to hang out with us and by the end of the summer everyone had someone they could call because we kept up with “courting” that girl. After nearly over a decade of being married to my wife I still court and keep up the things that bring her joy because I like seeing her happy.

The problem is the type of men that women WANT aren't the types who court ladies. The kind of men who do court women are deemed 'too nice' or 'not everything on their checklist of wants in a man' so they get ignored/friend zoned.
What's the use of courting a woman in the hopes that she'll be with you only for her to leave you in a heartbeat to let a Pookie or Ray Ray smash without a sign of courting?
On top of that, some women find courting a sign of weakness if the guy shows his love and appreciation for her.

We been saying this. She just now listening bc she’s tryna jump out there now. Ain’t no love to be found in these streets. She was better off staying right where she was.
Envy is speaking from the perspective of a married man. He fails to realize the times have changed. And “courting” doesn’t produce the same results as it has in years past. You court someone all you want. Until you find out she’s seeing 3-4 other dudes. Maybe some of them she’s sleeping with without any of the same effort. It’s going to change how you feel about a person. And vice versa. It’s hard for women to be submissive and nurturing to a man and give all their love and attention, when he’s sleeping with 5 other women (most of the time unprotected).
We have to find a way back to valuing ourselves first. And dating with purpose. Stop sleeping around. Build meaningful friendships and relationships. That’s key to having a fulfilling and meaningful connection.

    • @biancampeacock
      @biancampeacock 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

@@Jack_Hammer_Abrams you are correct. There’s an abundance of single people everywhere. But do they all have the same intentions of finding love?
It just seems like people these days prefer the instant gratification from attention online or sex as opposed to putting in the real work that’s required to build and maintain relationships. You have to be willing to endure the ups and downs. Most people aren’t willing to work that hard. First sign of any conflict or challenge and they’re out.

I wish I could hug you girly! I just posted something similar… I said that truthfully-it’s BOTH genders that have killed traditional dating/courting/relationships/marriage…
And the reason is because of SEX.
Men expect sex with putting in little to NO effort…
And women are SO busy competing with the rest of the women for a man’s acceptance that she has devalued herself…. SO she willingly gives up her body and EXPECTS nothing in return for doing so because she hopes that the man will value that she isn’t “combative” or “materialistic” or a “gold digger” for asking/wanting/demanding simple things like dates…

@@biancampeacockI agree with most of your comment but the type of men that have sexual access to multiple women are a small minority ( less than 20% ) of men..The body count numbers for men and women have flipped.. the average woman has a higher body count than the average man.. this stems from the modern women's hypergamus nature and modern women not requiring committment before sex. The majority of single modern women are focused on a minority of men..

It is a process and not a race, I prefer getting to know someone before intimacy, men don't court, people don't court, and we are all worthy of love and loving relationships. Courting is beautiful, it's learning what a person likes and dislikes.

We can have a tennis match of issues amongst genders but the reality is tradition has proved to not work . And sadly social media has done irreparable harm to the minds of our people. I think that what has changed for both genders in the dating game is that the increased use of dating apps make people feel as if they can always find someone better just around the corner so why should they do "more". And before anyone starts arguing, I said this applies to both sexes.

Just like you shouldn't look for a partner when you are battling things internally, you shouldn't end a Marriage because of unhappiness. Happiness is within. Notice how Envy spoke to how he teaches his daughters how they should be treated and his son's how they should treat women. There is nothing wrong with this statement however the part that most parents leave out is teaching their daughters how to treat men. When all you do is preach about how women should be treated it gives a perception that it's a one way street and women are often not equipped to care for a man. It's a major gap we have in our community and I feel one of the primary causes of divorce.

This whole situation is a great analogy for what is happening in dating market today. She WAS courted and married a man who did that but still left him. If you want to know why people dont court - its because men are not rewarded for courting ..also courting is for traditional women.. if you arnt traditional then you are asking too much. why would someone move the moon for someone thats been passed around like a blunt at a snoop concert.

Jason literally spoke my entire mind! No one person should feel like they are the sole prize. Both people should be a prize. Also, Tia got a divorce and came back the streets after probably close to 20 years and found out the hard way that the dating streets are extremely ghetto. There is trash everywhere. I'm 63. I've been divorced since 2005. My marriage lasted 18.5 years. We dated (not living together) for 4 years prior to marriage. 'Courting' is the process of getting to know a person. The current culture is 'hooking up'/having sex. Courting is when you're selective/intentional about whom you're spending your time with because they are a potential marital partner. Sex partners...not so much. I currently deal with a man who is courting me; we're in our 8th month. He's wonderful! As a matter of fact, I have not dated anyone who did not court me. I believe the Sexxy Redd era will give some interesting results; time will tell. For me; if the interaction is not respectful; I know how to entertain myself. Ms. Mowry's observation is pretty spot on. The culture has shifted. It has only made things worse.

27 year old woman here. Courting isn't doing well! lol. I've dated men who have courted me in the past so I know men can do it but most men in their 20s to early 30s (at least in Chicago, where I'm at...) don't court. I'm honestly surprised when a man DOESN"T invite me to a "smoke and chill" date because that's all these guys want to do. We live in the 3rd largest city in the country, with a plethora of exciting places we could go together besides netflix and chilling at your apartment on the first date. Like, we can have a picnic in the park, a walk through a museum, cocktails at a happy hour, brunch, etc. Like let's hang out somewhere in public for 90 minutes and keep hanging if we're both interested or part ways if either of us aren't feeling it. It's not that hard.
