Very nice video with nice introduction, easy to follow steps, and you speak clearly and in a normal tone. Thank you for showing the real cooking time for the donuts. Very straightforward. I hope to make a few dozen donuts early one morning and bring them to work. When my co workers see the donuts in a giant Tupperware tray, they will know they are home made!
I have made many yeast donuts, but never have made cake donuts,I got to try this one soon. Thanks for the wonderful home made cooking.I don't buy this processed junk cakes and such I make it at HOME lol. A little work but so worth it.
Nice recipe Renea, my Mother would make yeast doughnuts in the winter when we had fresh rendered lard. I remember the table full of doughnuts raising. I don't think i have made cake doughnuts, I am writing down your recipe. Grandma Sue in central Indiana and Izzi Too
Omg you just brought me back to my childhood, we use to go to church on Sundays and the young ladies use to always bring these homemade donuts in, they we're delicious. Thank you, now I am going to try my hand at making these
I love cake donuts my favorite my grandma used to make them and I did when our kids were younger. Love the tool to get them off the counter! I just call it a scrapper but I use it for everything from bread to chopped vegetables. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite donut is the old fashioned cake donut! Yummy 😛! I'm a wimp when it comes to deep frying anything, I'm always afraid . But my grandma used to make these for us , let me tell you those were the days! Your making lifetime memories for your grandchildren. Hope you guys are keeping warm💖
It is not too bad outside right now. I aim to make as many memories as I can for my grand children. I really truly believe it help to make their foundation strong...Thank you Jessy.
OMGosh lady...does this bring back memories of my youth. Coming from a family of 9 children we would make these dozens at a time. Our baking for the week was always done on Saturdays AFTER the housework was done. We couldn't seem to make enough to keep the boys happy when they came in the kitchen and snacked on them 6 at a time x 5 boys. My mother finally decided that there would be no sampling on baking day. But I can still smell the nutmeg fragrance and I was so sure you had smell-a-vlog! Thanks for the trip down memory lane and with all the snowy days here in the mitten predicted for this week I may just have it whip up a few for Hunny and me...for Valentines Day don't you know!!!:):):)
Gotta try these for sure!! I used to make donuts using canned biscuits, but my hubby loves cake donuts the best. Thanks for sharing and may God keep on blessing you!! I love love love your tea kettle that I see sitting on your stove. I have been looking for one just like that for years. It's just like the one my grandma use to have. Thanks again Renee!!
Omgoodness! You did it to me again! Grabbing my cup of coffee, pulling up a chair at your table, toss me one of those 🍩. 🤣 Thank you ma'am! This is becoming a coffee break habit with you! *Giggles TFS
I’m gonna make some of your homemade butter just so I have an excuse to use the buttermilk 👊🏻😂😋🍩 Incidentally, you can get paint stirrers at the home improvement store for free (make sure to get the big 5 gallon sticks, you’ll need four), place two together and glue or wrap in plastic to hold them as guide sticks for your rolling pin. You’ll get a consistent height for doughnuts or just use two (one on each side) for rolled cookie dough. *each stick is roughly 1/4 inch thick. 👍🏻 One tip for easy transport: use parchment squares under each doughnut to pick up easily without distorting the shape. These can be picked up at dollar tree. They’re sold as burger separators...100 for $1, can’t beat that price. 😉
Excellent Recipe!! They look soooo good! I agree with the others on here about the smell of the nutmeg ! No big coffee shop can compare with the taste of these homemade doughnuts!! The real deal!
Omg, you arecan amazing cook. Your family is blessed to eat all the yumminess you make. Wow - there isn't a thing you can't make. If you opened a B&B, I would book a month there just to learn & eat your food.

Yes you can freeze them and I would just let them thaw on the counter.
Could you tell me what you do with the leftover oil? From making Donuts?
What is the make and model of your fryer?
It is a Dazey Deep Fryer. It is older than the hills...lol But it works great.
How can I find this recipe? Thanks! I love your videos.
