Hello, oh wow those look great. I have never heard of fry bread, nor have I ever seen it before. Something that looks like we would like. So easy too. We got up to 60 today but by Friday we will be back in the 30's again. Oh I love this time of the year, basic science as the earth moves closer to the sun. :) Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day.
@@LittleVillageHomestead Hello, oh that is great. I am still doing egg free but my eczema is still flaring up. So now am putting a filter on the kitchen faucet to see if that will help. One thing I know that will help is having a garden this year, I will know what will make my food grow. :)
My ex boyfriend’s mother use to make this only she called it “fried bread dough” and her family would eat them with maple syrup like you would eat pancakes. I’ve always wanted a recipe and now I have one. Thanks so much for sharing. Love, light and hugs. ❤️
On Mondays, Mom would put a pot of pinto beans on to cook, mix up some homemade yeast bread, and because there were 6 of us, and plenty of laundry, she'd start up the old wringer washing machine. She'd sometimes, save out some of the dough, to make fry bread, to go with our beans. Those were good eats, and good memories.
Mom would flatten the dough, by stretching it in her hands, like pizza dough. She'd run her fingers through it, making several holes in it, before frying it. Maybe with extra holes for the oil to cook up through, it made for a little more surface to get golden brown. I was 28 when we lost Mom. She was 43, & a very good cook. One of her more simple meals, that I still remember is fried bread with soup beans. She cooked from scratch, using homegrown meats, and vegetables from her large garden. Our Sunday dinners, almost always shared with friends from our church, included homemade bread, with freshly made butter, applebutter or jam, fried chicken & dumplings, or a nice beef roast & homemade noodles, along with mashed potatoes & gravy, a salad with her own dressing, & several other sides. There was coffee, fresh milk, buttermilk, or water to drink, followed by pies or cake for dessert.
They look lovely..I bet they would be great with chili or as a soft taco. also I thought of an elephant ear too, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and apple pie filling. yummy..I will try them this weekend..
OMG that fry bread!!!! I'm not even hungry right not (just ate) and I want one. Another recipe I have to try. I bet that was so good with the bean soup. :)

Hello friend! New sub here! Just came over from Homestead Tessies channel. I love fried bread! We call it Indian taco bread. Thanks for sharing the recipe, it looks so good! Have a blessed day! 💕🙏
Hi!!! That was a great video. I am going to try this out soon. It prob. Would be good with your Taco fixings on it too. Yummy!!! A fan and friend. DiDi
I have a weird question… Why did you use 3 teaspoons instead of just 1 tablespoon? I’m going to make this with the grandkids this week for Navajo tacos.
I make my husband's grandmother's fry bread, and we put taco fixings on them. My kids eat them as fast as I can make them. LOL. So I have to triple the recipe. But her recipe is different than yours, hers has eggs in it.
We make a similar kind...we call them toutons. Old Irish recipe!! There's some great recipes on this site too in case you're interested, Renea! xo Your's are beautiful! xo www.rockrecipes.com/newfoundland-toutons/

Thank you Mystique Rose.
My Mom used to make that from time to time and she tried to teach me how to do it.
They are fairly easy t make and they are delicious. Thank you Kenny.
We make these in Italy and sprinkle them with salt when taken out of the oil. We never put a hole in it, wonder how it would turn out.
All the hole does is stop it from getting big bubbles that could trap oil and kind of keeps them flat..
It means fat cakes you fry them and have them with mince or jam what ever you like xx
We use same ingredients as the one you make lol xx
Oh I like that...Fat cakes... Perfect name actually..Thank you.
I loooove fry bread 😍😍

I was wondering the same as you Ella.
What does that name mean or where did it come from. Thank you Sharon.
@@LittleVillageHomestead Vetkoek (pronounced Fet-cook and literally meaning fat cake, fat cookie or fatty cake) is a traditional South African dish.
