Personally speaking, Just from a mechanic point of view, The loud ticking sound of that engine tells me that the lifters that control the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves need some serious adjusting, you lose power when the valve lash is incorrect which also contributes to the timing of the engine, and also you burn a lot more fuel. also, you may want to find out when was the last the clutch disc pressure plate and release bearing were changed, good luck!
