  • On March 14 2021 the Lakewood Fire Department responded to airport rd for a reported brush fire. Crews arrived to a fast moving brush fire that was threatening a structure and a second alarm was struck. The fire quickly consumed the structure, spreading rapidly to multiple other buildings and a large area of brush. A 3rd alarm was transmitted as the fire jumped the Garden State Parkway and began to threathen numerous structures in Brick off of Route 70. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service deployed multiple brush trucks, along with other ground and air units with Multiple mutual aid assets from both Monmouth and Ocean Counties dispatched to multiple locations throughout the area to assist in extinguishing the main body of fire along with dozens of spot fires throughout both townships. The Garden State Parkway and Route 70 had to be completely shut down.

      Now why more rural departments don't have tankers like this is beyond me. You see in some video's 4 or 5 fire departments send their tankers to supply as much water as this one tanker does.

    This was by far one of the things I feared the most. I literally was thinking Friday as I was getting on to the parkway about the fire that happened years ago by I think Barnegat. I found it absolutely crazy that OCSO putout a fire warning 3 hours before this happened. Thankfully we have great FD around here. This seriously could have destroyed a good portion of my town.

    Filming close to my part of the state for a change, I am about 30 miles south. This is something that is a major threat living in the Pine Barrens. We had a fire about 14 years ago that burned 18,000 acres caused by a military plane shooting a practice flare, that was a scary time. The ash in some parts was so thick snow plows came to clear the streets,burning embers were found a couple miles away. Great coverage, keep up tgeamazing work.

    Oh my goodness that fire is big with a fire that size they probably will have to evacuate the area I'm assuming the fire started because someone must have Set It Off that's what I think or something else

    couple of bushes and some hay on fire, 4 fire trucks pulling up, dude wants to try and hit it with an air strike.

      Ohh look what we have here, Monday Morning firefighting Quarterback. Okay we have extremely high winds and combustibles everywhere, you notice where the fire was and where the air drop was...it is called containment (soaking down the unburned brush). The pilot did not drop on the fire.

    • @zzthumper72
      @zzthumper72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anmlrsqnj actually, it dropped on the sheds and a fence, there were no bushes there, but hey, you already know everything, right?

  • @BL-jt3qt
    @BL-jt3qt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did they ever get that fire put out? It sure looked like a lack of coordination with many vehicles seemingly just driving around aimlessly. What few air drops that were shown, looked pretty ineffective.

    • @demonracer2
      @demonracer2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Quite the opposite actually, trucks were responding to staging and from staging were dispatched to multiple calls throughout two towns so definitely not aimless. The fire was 100% contained in less than 24 hours.
