  • Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 10 was dispatched to a reported rubbish fire in the area of 17th Street and Maple Avenue. They arrived on scene to find a transient lighting multiple sets and then becoming hostile toward Engine 10 personnel. Engine 10 requested help and got Light Force 10, Battalion 1, EMS 1, Rescue 10, Rescue 810, and LAPD. While waiting for the additional resources, Engine 10 drove away from the perpetrator and staged a couple blocks away. LAPD arrived on scene and discovered that the suspect had left the area. 10's was then clear to enter the scene. Because multiple rubbish fires were set, two more engines (Engine 9 and Engine 209) were requested to help extinguish the fires. Resources on scene were able to safely extinguish the fires. It is unknown if the suspect was ever caught.

Put an open butt 2-1/2” in each debrie box at a low pressure and fill them up to the top……..that method has worked for years

Deck gun ???? Why pull three hand lines when you have a water supply and can just fill it with the deck gun??? The slowest fire department ever to pull hand lines on structure fires but they’ll pull the hell out of them on a dumpster!!!

I like the idea of the deck Gun but I’m wondering if you could get it elevated enough so u could hit the seat of the fire with a straight tip.

@@juliemodun4149 No need to hit the seat of the fire in a dumpster. Just flood the dumpster full of water

That's a good point I'm not sure why they don't mask up unless they're going interior on a structure fire

not sure why they're cutting it... you could just pump the dumpster full of water

Agreed with some of the other comments…secure a good water supply and deck gun this fire and call it good. Some say, “well then the company can’t pick up the dumpster afterwards.” Not our problem. They will figure it out. The dumpster is more than likely scrap metal now anyway.
Also, besides the obvious of a structure fire, vehicle and dumpster fires have some of the most nasty and “unknowns” type of smoke. Mask up.

Open the hose bail on the transient next time he gets aggressive. Their kryptonite is soap and water.

Good up close video. With the reported shortage of transport ambulances, was M10 and A810 quickly released?

Cutting into the rubbish containers seemed to me to be completely unnecessary and destructive. The containers are someone’s property, after all.
Surely, filling them with water and drowning the fuel source would have been more thorough and cleaner? Presumably, a lot of this rubbish would have been dragged out of the containers, where eventually it would travel all over an already filthy city?

Too bad they can't defend themselves without getting fired. They have the tools on the Engine and Truck.
