This was a great video! One suggestion i have is to make the music in the sections that dont have you talking over them quieter, because it was fairly loud. Other than that it was a great and very informational video!! Keep up the great work!
Amazing video! I can't believe it only has 9k views. It might not be much, but i liked it a lot, and i'll be subscribing. I hope you make more in the future :)
One thing you got wrong is that the motion plus in skyward sword doesn’t remove the need for the sensor bar. It has valuable use for keeping the gyro calibrated. You can play without the sensor bar, but the controls will be less precise. Other than that great video
This was really informative! I really hope we get a TAS of Skyward Sword someday.... Human skills are great, but they just aren't enough, yet. Anyway, it sounds like the key problem is Motion Plus is difficult to emulate, right? If Wii Motion Plus could be emulated on a newer build of Dolphin, Skyward Sword would be much closer to being TAS'd, right? Maybe a remake would produce a more TAS friendly version of the game.... But newer systems aren't much closer to being TAS-able either, & it might not be as wonderfully glitchy as the Skyward Sword we know today....

hey this video is really cool! I'd like to give you some constructive criticism on it though, if you don't mind. text flashes across the screen too quickly sometimes, notably at 5:57 and 6:13. I think these sections would land better if you could see the words pop on screen to form a sentence, instead of having them appear on screen outside of their own sentence and vanishing right after. your speech is a little bit quick throughout the whole video, and sometimes it seems like you're sacrificing enunciation in order to say things as quickly as you want to (semi-notable examples at 1:47, 8:28 & 11:53). the lack of clarity makes sections like the one at 6:07 not as clear of a joke/tone change because your speech isn't contrasted nearly as sudden of a shift as the grammar does. there are a couple of minor mistakes too, like the typo at 0:39 and the odd sentence segmentation at 8:55, but those I feel will just occur less with more practice in making videos. I just wanted to make you aware of them in case you weren't. I'm sorry if this comment came across as rude or made it seem like I didn't like the video, I actually liked it quite a bit. I'm just a really nitpicky and wanted to share my thoughts about what you made. I hope you make more. also pls lower the brightness of the flashes at 2:27 it hurt my eyes LMAO
I really appreciate it actually. I'll def keep this in mind for future videos. Improving my content quality is something I hold highly and I appreciate the constructive criticism!
SSHD will have traditional controls, and the complicated (to emulate or use in a TAS) gyro controls will be optional, so the game will finally have a TAS.
WSR TASes use mostly simple horizontal or vertical swings on sword play, and whats likely deadzone mapping for archery to have the cursor exactly where it needs to be. These things are "possible" in SS but the issue is the game is much more complex. In WSR motion controls with normal movement isnt really a thing and the game is mostly just swinging a wiimote around. Its more about the games design rather than wii motion plus in general. I imagine those TASes use their own custom version of dolphin (as from what I've been told from a couple different dolphin devs, the current version of dolphin still does not record wii motion plus). Hope that cleared things up, I probably could've expressed that better in the video.
you dont have to do that, its just a faster option. there are different rbms you can do to replace the one that needs the red ruppee. Older Any% runs with RBM do not get that rupee.
Would it be worth it? The time you lose getting the bombs versus what you gain by dying faster throught the entire run? Especialy if tou get all the cutscene skips
Its a meme in the community that we always keep asking lioncache to develop tas tools for the game while he dodges the questions. Just a joke between friends lol.
Why don't they just use a keyboard and mouse for this? Or take the time and bind it to a controller. I feel like these options would be infinitely easier then using the worthless motion controls. The main thing stopping people tasing this game is that the motion controls are just really hard to get around. Please let me know if this just isn't viable?

I would love to see you do more of this, or speedrun commentary! Solid production and a cool topic; I hope you get more subs homie.
This was an interesting watch. I never even thought about why I never saw a ss tas speedrun. Thank you.
Fantastic video
agreed
Skyward Sword HD: Allow me to introduce myself
Don't need that, dolphin has wii motion plus tasing support
@Thomfamily5 skyward sword is just faster with no major skips, but yeah the original makes sense for glitched
I thought this was the reason..
With the new version coming out, I hope I get to see some pretty epic TASs after the new release
The meaning of "impossible" has been destroyed by speedrunners over the years, and it is now a meaningless word that's just used to sound imposing.
love this vid, keep em coming player
funny how since this video was released the beetle skip with the keese is RTA now

coming here from the new skyward sword tas :D
Is it possible to TAS the Switch version?
Can you please add captions

now skyward sword hd is out im hoping to see some crazy TAS stuff
I would be nice for a new version ro come out with inbuilt button controls that would be able to be tased with a powerful enough computer
TASers are theoretical physicists, regular speedrunners are engineers.

How about a programmable robot arm holding a smartphone? Smart phones have gyroscopes right?

well the switch emulator has to be better first
Well when we can TAS switch games. We can’t even really TAS WiiU games yet
Good shit man
Great video!
Awesome video! You earned my sub
Also what’s the name of the song that plays during the title card?
"FATAL FIELDS" by JHITZ, link to his channel is in the description
zayloox my bad. I should’ve given a timestamp instead. What’s the one at 2:30?
Nvm I found it. Thank you
Does Wii Sports Resort handle wii motion plus differently than Skyward Sword. Because I know WSR TASes exist.
WSR TASes use mostly simple horizontal or vertical swings on sword play, and whats likely deadzone mapping for archery to have the cursor exactly where it needs to be. You also need the beetle to set bit value in skyview temple so no the beetle is not skipable even if the ropes can be cut with a skyward strike

Not yet anyway. Dolphin may change your mind
Why can't you tas it with a controller
It's a tas now
With skyward sword hd thus might be possible
Dude great video , the music while talking causes headache .
Here's your 666th like!
4:53 Wait.. so is playing the game NORMALLY considered casual?
Uhhh... Yes...?
That’s exactly what casual means, yes
What did you think "casual" meant?
music is waaaaay to loud
What the fuck is wrong with the editing and the music? this is a pain to watch...
Skyward Sword increased in popularity? It's still the worst 3d Zelda alongside TP lol
