So the reason Truth Or Square was so... mediocre, was because Nick wanted it out earlier than the team expected, so it could release along side the special. The original title was "Happiness Squared."
Really? I didn't know that! Maybe they should've gone with that title instead of "Truth or Square." You'd think the characters would play Truth or Dare because of the title, instead of just remembering stuff while crawling through the vents of the Krusty Krab. Don't get me wrong, I think "Truth or Square" is quite clever. Though the plot of the episode could've been a little bit different.

CftKK I want to say is at least partly based on the dream episode(where Spongebob goes through everyone's dreams). The hot rod segment when the episode started, and the giant plankton dream
Crimson Crobat can’t agree more to that, when i first saw the episode, i thought it was going to do some flashback stuff and look back on the series. I know it’s a pretty played out concept, but i still findit fun to look back on the series. But nope, instead it was just the gang thinking back on moments that never happened, some to answer questions that neither no one asked or did ask but didn’t need answered. At least the game’s story made a better episode than the actual episode it’s based off of.
There's actually a reason why Truth or Square isn't as good as the other two: it was gonna be a completely different game called Happiness Squared, and it got pretty far along in production. However, Nickelodeon forced them to remake the game's premise into Truth or Square, so they had to redo a ton of stuff in a short amount of time

Truth or Square was my first Spongebob game, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. It's not perfect, but currently, despite the shortcomings, it's still very fun to play.
The reason why The Kreature from the Krusty Krab had little plot and very varied gameplay, and is very bizarre is because of it taking place in a dream. Dreams are weird and wacky and the developers wanted to express that idea.
Not sure if there are any legit facts to back up that statement of the developers' intentions, but I do indeed share that same sentiment about CFTKK's bizarre premise and themes about dreams.
Haven't watched the review yet, but I just wanna say. I am so beyond happy that CFTKK is getting noticed. I have some incredibly nostalgic memories of that game. There was a movie rental place right down the road from where I lived as a kid, and they also offered video game rentals, and one of the games available was CFTKK. Every time, we would rent some movies, and I would beg my mom to let me rent a game, and every time it was CFTKK. The game was so magical to me, the soundtrack was great, the writing felt like it was straight out of my favorite episodes, and the game was just fun to play. I vividly remember staying up late a cold December night, no school the next day, just wrapped up in a blanket and playing the game until I fell asleep.
sad you didn't talk about the dialogue of creature, stuff's top notch comedy. still mention lines to this day. and on the handheld games, you best talk about drawn to life: spongebob edition yes that exists. made by the same company as the truth or square DS game, and actually holds up real good as a 2d platformer compared to the console game "demakes" spongebob loves so much for some reason

Creature from the Krusty Krab legitimately traumatized me as a kid. The music in the part where Spongebob falls through a hole terrified me so much I couldn't sleep. I repressed this game SO hard, dear lord.
9:19 I get to see this Spongebob face all the time. It's on the metal trash bin in my room from when I was a kid. At least it was stylized and actually looks _not_ like a corruption.
I played the Truth or Square video game as a kid, and it was one of my favorites on the Wii. Granted, it was probably due to the nostalgia within the scenarios, but it was still pretty enjoyable. That being said, I wonder which one you’re going to cover next. My bet is for Lights Camera Pants!
Creature from the krusty krab was just like a series of outlandish episodes on one disc. I think that's why we loved it as a kid and still do. Ant Dude clearly scores games heavily on story which I don't think games like those really need some grand plot. games are time wasters foremost anyways and I enjoyed levels that wouldn't make sense in a game like BBFB or the tv show
Objectively: Battle For Bikini Bottom is the best. Subjectively: Creature from The Krusty Krab is the best. Edit: I've played the PS2 versions of both titles, and my nostalgic sense kind of clouds my perspective, but I still enjoy the game and think it's a good title. At least the title has loads of variety and has so much replayability.
same here wen it comes to me playing both PS2 games i couldnt beat ither of them i couldnt get enough spatchulas and i couldnt beat the race at the end
Yeah the "Truth or Square" TV special had ZERO effort, which is really sad cause that special was supposed to celebrate Spongebob's 10th anniversary. All I can say is thank Neptune Nickelodeon redeemed themselves with the 20th anniversary special, "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
Fun fact, creature from the krusty krab was the 1st Game I ever got with my DS. It's actually a really good showcase for what the touch screen can do. Maybe five or so hours of puzzle platforming with a few different gameplay segments to mix it up (Giant Plankton is a ton of fun).
I’m from the future, and truth or square is now backwards compatible on the Xbox one. It also is free on Xbox live right now, and it has hilarious reviews.
Fun fact: Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab (specifically on PS2) was one of my first video games ever. My first console was a PS2 and my mom got it for the family. When she gave it to us, she gave me a copy of Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, my dad a copy of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars 2002 (a REALLY good racing game if you can track it down), and my sister a copy of Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab. We all shared our games with each other, so although Batman was technically my first game, I played all three around the same time. Good memories! Also, Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu is a terrible game. Don't get it.
Fun fact: at some point when making Creature on Wii they wanted to have your basic standard attack be activated by shaking the Wiimote EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Thankfully they realized this was a stupid idea and just mapped it to a button.
Ant-dude I respect your opinion, but Creature from The Krusty-Krab was my childhood and my GameCube version of it was lost a while ago and now I can't relive my childhood to its fullest, its fine to have your own opinion but I personally think its a nice take on the sponge bob games.
Ok Antdude's review of SpongeBob games has become one of my new favourite traditions. I never had any hatred or problems over motion controls on the Wii.
I think the nightmarish design of Spongebob from the racing is based off of Rat Fink from the artist Big Daddy. That's an odd reference but not the last one from Nickelodeon. They did it again in season 3 of the 2012 TMNT Series. That was an interesting episode.
I still think Truth or Square is a great SpongeBob game. By the way all the reused assets from BfBB or TMG was due to THQ/Heavy Iron being given an absolutely small budget. It was originally going to be just another original game not tied into any special called "Happiness Squared". Unfortunately, Nickelodeon forced THQ to make Heavy Iron tie it into the upcoming special and to rush it. It could have been way better.
As a devout fan of Creature from the Krusty Krabs GameCube version: A) the lack of motion controls is an improvement and B) I adore the game, its such a wild concept, builds off of character's traits so well, and I LOVE the culminating battle between spongebob and patrick vs Giant plankton. Edit: Also, I do really enjoy the gameplay, most of the styles are very enjoyable. And I don't think it HAS to be similar to Battle for Bikini Bottom to be good, and I LOVE battle for Bikini Bottom. Edit edit: NO COMMENT ON THE MUSIC? THAT GODLIKE, SYMPHONIC, WILD SOUNDTRACK?
God i love creature from the Krusty krab. Yes it's very weird and yes I know it has flaws but I personally love all the different styles. Action, racing, space, superhero, chase, and my favorite. Giant creature destruction....god that was a good level
Growing up, I played many of the Spongebob games, but they were always on pc, gba or ds. iirc CFTKK's pc port keeps the same dream premises as the console versions, but has different gameplay. I also remember the pc port of Battle for Bikini Bottom being a minigame collection, & its gba port was a 2d platformer. There was also at least 1 point & click adventure game, but I don't remember which game it was
So the reason Truth Or Square was so... mediocre, was because Nick wanted it out earlier than the team expected, so it could release along side the special. The original title was "Happiness Squared."
Well, gee, looks lie history repeated itself then with the Rehydrated game.
Hey, at least it's better than the episode it's named after.
That...actually makes a lot of sense. Explains why the plots differ so greatly, and the original titles makes more sense
Really? I didn't know that! Maybe they should've gone with that title instead of "Truth or Square." I get to see this Spongebob face all the time. It's on the metal trash bin in my room from when I was a kid. At least it was stylized and actually looks _not_ like a corruption.
I knew Megolavania was playing when he said “You can make music with the Harmonica.”

Same here. I loved battle, movie and creature. The revenge of the Flying Dutchman was the only one I’m not a fan of.
same here wen it comes to me playing both PS2 games i couldnt beat ither of them i couldnt get enough spatchulas and i couldnt beat the race at the end
Truth or square is my childhood and I don’t know how that makes me feel.
I played creature from the Krusty Krab on the PS2 as a kid, just got hit with big nostalgia.
You still haven’t played revenge of the Flying Dutchman
Eh, not really missing much.
That game isn’t the bad at least I don’t think so. It’s not perfect by a long shot but I still enjoy it
ROTFD was so bad the studio that develop it close after the game relased (Facts)
@@Puki9117 actually they closed because they were blacklisted by THQ.
Cftkk is a cult classic and nobody can change my mind. I love it to bits.
oh god i remember creature im stoked for this
... for years I thought this image 9:13 was from a fever dream. I wouldn't believe this existed....
I actually have the DS version of Creature from The Krusty Krab.
The Videogame > The Actual Special
Yeah the "Truth or Square" TV special had ZERO effort, which is really sad cause that special was supposed to celebrate Spongebob's 10th anniversary. All I can say is thank Neptune Nickelodeon redeemed themselves with the 20th anniversary special, "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
The plankton getting big in his dream in Creature from the krusty krab is a reference to the episode "sleepy time"
These are some of the most underrated Spongebob games...
Yes
*I dislike this*
Yeah along with Atlantis Squarepantis on the DS
Fun fact, creature from the krusty krab was the 1st Game I ever got with my DS. It's actually a really good showcase for what the touch screen can do. Maybe five or so hours of puzzle platforming with a few different gameplay segments to mix it up (Giant Plankton is a ton of fun).
I'm still waiting on when you finally take on 'Spongebob: Lights, Camera, Pants!!'. It's really good, on par with pre-9-and-10 Mario Party
Creature from the Krusty Krab is my childhood, heck I just started to replay it recently to see what I enjoyed so much back then.
Good news Antdude, Truth or Square is now playable on the Xbone.
Creature of krusty krab, One of my very first game I ever play since my birthday back in 2006!!
9:49 Spongebob shippers: *_Reality can be whatever I want_*
16:12 god damn it.
Hello there
“Truth or Square can’t be played on an Xbox One”
- AntDude
Well it can now 😂
9:32 Oh. That's where the Mr. Krabs Overdoses on Ketamine version of Patrick comes from/is based off of.
Sick.
Ah yes, how could I possibly forget about Breature from the Krusty Karb? What a hidden gem!
9:20 I think the art style for Bob and Patrick is a reference to Rat Fink.
You should really check out the Drawn to Life games. There's actually a Spongebob variant, so if you save that for last, you have a bit of a segway
Creature from the krusty krabs is actually a REMAKE of an old PC game, it's something like "Sleepy dreams" spongebob or something like that
Me: Dream team review....
Ant dude: *Patrick sans noises*
dreamteam is most likely next.
@@megamike15 you have given me hope and to that i thank you kind sir
Ok Antdude's review of SpongeBob games has become one of my new favourite traditions.
I never had any hatred or problems over motion controls on the Wii.
I think the nightmarish design of Spongebob from the racing is based off of Rat Fink from the artist Big Daddy. That's an odd reference but not the last one from Nickelodeon. They did it again in season 3 of the 2012 TMNT Series. That was an interesting episode.
Watching this again as Truth or Square downloads on my Xbox.
Cant wait for the ds version truth or square video. Since it was one of my first couple of games I played
I watched all of these games on youtube when i was really young so i remember all of them. Man those were the times...
I wonder if he'll ever cover HeroPants, specifically, the Vita version.
I grew up with the Wii version of CFTKK, and I mastered the janky motion controls
But holy shit, the winches are the worst part, unquestionably
You forget the part in Breature from the Krusty Karb where THE KARBBY PATTY WAS THE TWIST VILLAIN THE WHOLE TIME
As a devout fan of Creature from the Krusty Krabs GameCube version: A) the lack of motion controls is an improvement and B) I adore the game, its such a wild concept, builds off of character's traits so well, and I LOVE the culminating battle between spongebob and patrick vs Giant plankton.
I've always wanted to play Creature from the Krusty Krab. Though watching this now I discovered I didn't miss out on much
antdude: you stare at this for too long and you'll turn to stone
me: so medusa but it takes a while for humans to become rock and its spongebob
Creature of the Krusty krab was one of my favorites growing up, I'm hoping we can get an HD remaster sometime soon
HOLY CRAP, I THOUGHT THAT SECOND GAME WAS JUST SOME WEIRD DREAM I HAD
I mean, it kind of is
God i love creature from the Krusty krab.
