i was gonna say that. this was the opening track of things to blow your mind when you put that vinyl on or cd even cassette. you were in for a ride. korn is probably the only band that is still going and evolves their sound adding rap and dubstep as well just straight up metal. slipknot and others have stayed in the same groove and not took other styles to make it fresh.

Bass in early Korn is so chunky. Sometimes Fieldy’s bass sounds like drum hits. The more you listen to them, the more you’ll appreciate it.

This was pretty much the birth of nu metal right here, and this song was most likely everyone's first exposure to Korn. They had a HUGE impact on the direction of music in the 90's!

I just commented something very similar, before I scrolled through the comments, and read this! This is the first Korn song that I heard, about 30 years ago! I was 19, and had been in the Marine Corps about 5- 6 months. This shit hit the California coast before the rest of the world, and I NEEDED this aggression!!! This music put my Marine brothers and I in our happy place! I also heard Sublime, Deftones, Corrosion of Conformity, Fear Factory, Pennywise (and sure I am missing others)... all within months of each other. New music seemed to be flowing out everywhere in '94 - '95!

That long intro has to be one of the best ever for building anticipation. Then the song explodes, followed by the kind of serious, introspective lyrics that defined a lot of ‘90s rock and metal. The time for that had come. Always gonna be glad I grew up on music that was so seriously strong.

I played bass in the 90's with the best drummer I ever knew while serving in the Marine Corps. He turned me on to Tool, Korn, Deftones, Fear Factory, Rage against the Machine, Machine head, Life of Agony, etc. When I was discharged in '98, Korn and Deftones' first albums spoke directly to my rage and anger and were the friends I never knew. Tool presented later as a spirit guide out. Your reaction to this song is not unexpected, and your need to go back to hear again is completely understood and forgiven.
I would suggest Deftones Lifter as your next nu metal song. Trust this Marine. It will wrap around your emotional centers and boil things to your conscious center in a way that you may not want to show in a first reaction video. God bless you, sir, and happy Victory Day!

I was at Woodstock 99 I would totally watch a reaction to it. Netflix has a pretty accurate documentary about it. The acts at Woodstock that stuck with me the most were Korn, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, The Offspring and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. At the time DMX seemed like an afterthought but he was good, I was hoping Godsmack's set would be better, but it was also on the smaller stage so much less people there and it didn't have the feel of the other acts. Even thinking of the fairgrounds is nostalgic though. The campground, the never-ending drum circle, the late-night rave when all the other bands stopped playing. I was awake nearly the entire 3 days. I just took one 20-minute nap in a puddle by the showers (that may or may not have had sewage in it. it was day 2) I would definitely go again though.

Korn's First entire album is gold. Next two albums have the most bad ass songs ever. Like Dead Bodies Everywhere. Lead singer Jonathan Davis was being forced by his family to be a mortician. Yes he had to learn how to prepare dead bodies for viewing at funerals. He did this straight out of High School in Bakersfield California, a two hour drive from where I live. Anyway he left that job to join Korn, which his parents were not happy about. He was abused as a child and a lot of Korn's first songs come from the anger and frustration that he had to go through growing up in a toxic home.

0:39 logical. I’ll never know why people react to the live version first. But I will say out of metal live shows, the Woodstock’99 is as close as you can get to the studio version and the crowd was insane. I was 17 and my friend and I ordered it on Pay-Per-View and I couldn’t believe how insane the crowd got, it was truly a site to see.

daddy is all about shock value as a request for a reaction, and shouldn't be anywhere near the beginning of the Korn journey. Just really no need for that song to be reacted too, so many bangers they made, I have zero interest in seeing someone's reaction to that song personally, I dont get why so many want that song reacted, its just shock value. I do think it should be listened to, I just see no need for us to see a reaction of it. Just my opinion though.

I think that might be a pretty universal sentiment from a lot of people about Korn's music around that time. And that's pretty big praise. These guys were a soundtrack to a LOT of people's stories. It's awesome to see you experiencing that with fresh ears and keeping it alive. Thanks man! Keep rocking

He came back from the show and had the cassette tape of Korn’s first record and played it for us. He said get ready to have your mind blown the first min I heard blind the first track. This was the first KoRn music video from their 1994 self-titled debut album... It was something completely new in the 'alternative rock' 90's... 'Blind' was the introduction of this band to the world by MTV cos radio would not touch them initially... By 1996, the album went gold (half million copies sold) in the US and heralded the arrival of the new generation of heavy rock music after the tragic end of Nirvana in '94... a mix of 90's hip hop and heavy rock w/ lyrics about angst, rage and childhood trauma - It was a dark record for sure but energetic and incredible.
Originally formed in Bakersfield, California... the members started out as the band L.A.P.D. before Jonathan Davis (lead vocals) joined in 1993 and KoRn was born w/ Brian 'Head' Welch & James 'Munky' Shaffer (guitars), Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu (bass) and David Silveria (drums)... The band was introduced to producer Ross Robinson to work on their debut album and signed w/ Immortal Records (which signed distribution w/ major label Epic Records)
Jonathan Davis was struggling w/ drug abuse at the time ... he delved into his childhood traumas and the abuse he had suffered for lyrical inspiration on the record. One of the tracks for the album was particularly disturbing, which closed the debut album - 'Daddy'... it was about Davis being sexually assaulted as a child by a family friend and his parents refusing to believe him... While tracking the vocals for the song, Jonathan Davis couldn't finish it and broke down in tears, screaming hysterically in the studio... That was included in the final version that made it on the record.
Davis was a huge fan of The Cure and their brand of angst... so a lot of that inspired the lyrics. KoRn released the album in 1994 and started actively touring in 1995 as MTV put the singles - 'Blind'... 'Clown'... and 'Shoots and ladders' on airplay. The 'KoRn' album became a classic and has sold 2x platinum in the US to date.
KoRn released a more hardcore 2nd album 'Life is peachy' in 1996... it sold gold faster than the debut album w/ only 1 major single - 'A.D.I.D.A.S' ... It was their 3rd album 'Follow the leader' in 1998 that broke KoRn into superstardom as the album went 5x platinum in the US w/ 2 major singles - 'Got the life'... and 'Freak on a leash'... The album also featured rappers Ice Cube, Tre Hardison of Pharcyde... and Cheech & Chong on a cover of 'Earache my eye'.

In fact, I have the other bands that played that night on video as well - one (Strife) on my channel - made me put the camera away for their video lol. But, yes, live they're absolutely insane, especially in a small venue. Cool to see this reaction. Cheers!

Twenty five years ago I was 20 years old and at my first concert. I had just seen an odd band named Orgy play and now it was time for the main event. The place is pitch black and I'm standing with a couple hundred people in the pit, shoulder to shoulder, tight af. Then we hear the cymbals start and you literally feel everyone tense up, was wild. Lemme tell you when you hear Jonathan Davis scream that epic "ARE YOU READDDDYYYY" that you're in for one helluva rush and a lot of bruises in the pit. The lights flash on and everyone is jumping up and down and off of one another, all in unison. It was the best time I ever had at a concert. Good shit, man.

This is THE song that defines Korn, in my humble opinion. The first song on the first album, and quite possibly the first ‘nu-metal’ song ever released. Also the first Korn song I ever heard, and it blew my brain out all over! Pieces of it are still there, left back on the floor, ceiling and walls of the 90’s…
And then, just a couple of years later I heard ‘Future Breed Machine’ by Meshuggah. There went an other chunk of what brain I was left with. Growing up in the 90’s was NO JOKE man. They were hard times. Hard and fucking heavy!!! 🤘🔥
