I'd been waiting specifically for this review before pre-ordering mine. I knew I would ultimately get it unless there was some major flaw that was pointed out in your review. Despite that happening with the cord issue, I still went ahead as I can make do with shorter cables for the time being, but I mostly wanted a monitor that I didn't feel like I might want to replace in anything under 5 years. I feel so much happier about my decision because, with the 3 videos made around this specific monitor, I don't feel like I will be caught by any potential negative surprises. Burn in is still a concern but I feel more confident with this monitor, than any other tech purchase I've made, that I wont get buyers remorse.
Glad to hear about the update to HDR testing methodology, thwnk you very much! Really wish we had it when the earlier OLEDs were reviewed, but at least we'll be able to get a better idea with the incoming stuff.
I've been waiting for your review of this for a long while. Looks like a great QD-OLED option. My main concerns are burn-in with desktop use, VRR flicker, and ambient lighting affecting black depth. I'm sure you've covered ambient lighting in previous videos, so I'd have to buy a QD-OLED and see how it does in my room's lighting. Great review as always.
You won't be disappointment. I have FO32U2P already 700+ hours. No issues in games with vrr flicker, black levels and I could care less about burn in when I have before my eyes such an exceptional image quality - anyway you have 3 years burn in warranty peace of mind so there is that for qd-oleds.

I have brightness in SDR set at 42% which is about 120 nits and it works very well in my use case scenario, it does not make my eyes sore and I can sit 10+ hours with no issues. @@MrM-dl5zm I'm glad you are enjoying it. You are correct that the black levels can still be better than IPS and VA, so I'd have to see how it is in my environment. I don't think a glossy OLED would work for me specifically, so I'll probably keep waiting for a mini-LED or other type of monitor to come around. Enjoy the monitor though!

I had this one and the MPG321 and decided to keep the MPG. I’m the type to upgrade frequently and bequeath my old hardware to my wife. In the US after tax the price difference was almost $300 (and that was with the pre-order pricing from Newegg on the U2P). That was ultimately the deciding factor for me, but the U2P was very very nice as well. Can’t really go wrong on the new 4K OLEDs so far.
@@mr_future I prefer the OSD on the MSI. The U2P would also bug out for me in HDR with APL set to high. When I changed it initially it would be in HDR1000. Then when I’d turn the U2P off and come back to it to turn it on later it would be in True Black mode and I would have to calibrate in windows HDR again to get back to 1000. The HDR Game setting is too vibrant and inaccurate overall on the U2P. MSI also does not have a power brick, which I prefer and the MSI actually has a separate power button. The power button on the gigabyte is the joystick and you can’t remap it to either of the buttons that flank the joystick. All of that is to say that I like the MSI significantly more in practice. I actually wanted the U2P to convince me to keep it by being a clearly superior product. It simply was not almost $300 better IMO.
Hard to justify 1500 euros for an 32" OLED tech especially with so many disadvantages. I keep my monitors for at least 5-7 years... and use them for both gaming and office but this is just not something that will live that long. Will wait for a better tech.

On Predator at 144Hz I was limited to 8 bit 444 chroma, to get 8 bit Full RGB should run at 98HZ, not even at 120Hz. With this Aorus FO32U2 can run 10 bit Full RGB 240Hz and my eyes are more happy, yeah I know refresh rate and so on, but for me colors are more important in games if can run them over 144Hz.

It's possible DP 2.1 graphics cards will unlock ALL features on these monitors even with DSC on. The reason it doesn't work now is if using DSC utilizes more bandwidth than possible on one port it internally uses two monitor ports. If they release 360 or 480hz variants though those will not work under any circumstance even full DP 2.1
Had have had mine for about 2 weeks, beautiful monitor and no real complaints besides the comically short DP 2.1 cable. Would've loved to have the MSI model for 950$ but it seems mostly unavailable.

This channel is sadly really bad when it comes to testing for flicker. Almost like they tend to play on fixed refresh rate and thusly never experience this frustrating flaw of many screens. Been asking for this to be seen to for months. RTings has recently updated their testing to properly include VRR Flicker testing. You're better off checking there. I'll go with the manufacturer that doesn't make the lower bezel off color from the rest of the monitor. Tv manufacturers can do it, so can you. And bonus points if you move or remove your branding so it's not so glaringly obvious. Should be possible when were spending $1k+ for a monitor.
@MonitorsUnboxed Hello, I want to buy a 27 inch gaming monitor for my gaming pc (RTX 4080 super). I play a balanced mix of fps shooters and AAA titles. (Like Apex legends and cyberpunk) I'm looking at a 4K IPS and a QHD OLED Modell. Would you say you can see a difference between QHD and 4K on 27 inch? So do you think it's better to play QHD and enjoy the better colours & HDR gaming content with the OLED if you can't see any difference on 27 inches? Or is there a noticeable difference, which is why I should go with 4K IPS to get all the details of the game world and not waste the power of the GPU? (The monitors I have in mind are the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM or Dell Alienware AW2725DF (for QHD OLED) and the MSI 27U (for 4k) Thank you for ur help!
I'd love it if we could see a thorough analysis of black crush on these OLED monitors. I have the AW3423DWF and the amount of black crush in dark scenes is really bad. It makes playing dark games like Returnal or Control really hard to see anything in since the shadow detail is completely lost and all you can see is pure black. I can fix it by raising the brightness or white point, but then that ruins detail in brighter scenes and can make things look blown out overall. I think black crush will be the #1 thing I look at the next time I buy an OLED monitor.
I think your missing the point of OLED. OLED is advertised as have the deepest blacks because of the per pixel dimming they can be completely black, which is what many want with it because most monitors give off a slight gray glow on all "blacks" which is probably what you are used to since it will allow you to see those dark areas more.
@@iamdickel8574 But for some people 32 inches is way too big, 27 4k gives you better clarity because of the high ppi and the price is way lower than the bigger one.
i really like u're detailed videos. But as the name of this channel is monitors unboxed, i would expect to test a wider range of monitors. Not just gaming monitors, especially OLED in the near past. For example there was released the Dell UltraSharp U2724DE, which is discussed a lot. Most people doesnt play games only with his monitor. So this one could be nice option for both worlds even it has the IPS Black Panel. Another new Monitor is the MSI MAG274QRFDE-QD E2. Great Option because its has PD 65W in this price class.
More people are interested in OLEDs and gaming monitors than an office monitor from Dell. If you want reviews of those, maybe TFT Central would have you covered.

Tim great review as usual! Are there any new mini-led IPS monitors coming out. I'm still not sold on getting an OLED. ( I don't want to have to deal with the possibility of burn in)
Question for someone experienced with many OLEDs: I tried the MSI MPG 321 URX OLED for about 3 weeks and kept getting crazy headaches & eye strain to the point that I had to return it. Going back to my IPS monitor fixed it. My guess is the issue is with the crazy contrast levels (searing white next to pitch black for example). I tried reducing the brightness to minimum, reducing the white balance, enabling night mode etc, all with only minimal improvements. Do you expect that I'd have the same issue with every oled monitor? Logically I would assume yes, but I've been using OLED phone screens for years with no problem, so I'm not sure why the display caused me so much trouble
Love your channel. Appreciate your hard work! I've been contemplating my next monitor upgrade for over a year now. I keep waiting. It's always been worth it to wait. This sounds good.
I'm glad when I can get rid of DSC, because alt+tab/change to fullscreen can take several seconds which is super annoying. You can potentially miss quite a bit of intro cutscene on a new game if the game doesnt have a long company logo showcase, or its also annoying when modding games. Not the biggest fan of borderless/window. Especially not a fan of on games lower than DX12
I use my AW3423DW alongside my old AW3418DW for productivity work and I can not see any difference in text clarity. Both look great. My only conclusion is your received a defective unit for your review and are now talking about it like it's a common issue on OLED. Or my unit is particularly good and doesn't suffer this issue btu I don't see how that's possible based on the way you describe the issue.
Might you do a video on these integrated KVMs? If you wanted to do a multi-monitor setup using Daisy Chain (say 3 monitors), can one monitor's kvm control all three? How well would it work for gaming? I looked up the specs of Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P, and while the 2 DP INPUTS are 2.1, the output (for daisy) is only 1.4, would that limit multi monitor gaming performance in any way? If using daisy chaining, what other performance degradations would you have to suffer since a SINGLE cable is only capable of uncompressed 240Hz @ 4K for a SINGLE monitor? Would the best multi monitor config still be to connect each monitor up separately to the graphics card and have to change the input for a multi-computer multi-monitor setup separately???
As opposed to the ROG one which is sexier in my opinion, this has a power delivery of only 65W through it's USBC port which is an incredibly stupid limitation. I wanted to pair it with my laptop which requires 90w under full workload so now that means this is a no go for me. Oh well... gonna go with the rog one i guess..

@@MrM-dl5zm Do you do long hours of desktop/productivity usage with the monitor to expedite burn-in, and do you have a lot of ambient lighting in your room? I have an open window, so that would be the extent of it.
@@SlavolkoTo answer your question - I have 2 windows on my left half opened during the day, there is also desk lamp behind monitor and I have behind my head 1 meter away a ceiling lamp.
My conclusion is that at whatever day I use this monitor it destroys any VA/IPS I had before if we talk about black levels and depth of shadow quality - remember also that playing/watching HDR content is best to use in dark room for best effect performance for your eye pupils.
I have brightness in SDR set at 42% which is about 120 nits and it works very well in my use case scenario, it does not make my eyes sore and I can sit 10+ hours with no issues.
I use monitor 50% gaming/movies, 20% browsing, 30% photoshop/photo editing.

@@MrM-dl5zm I'm glad you are enjoying it. You are correct that the black levels can still be better than IPS and VA, so I'd have to see how it is in my environment.
My biggest issues would then be burn-in from desktop usage, which would be 80% in the browser, and reflections from the semi-glossy coating.

Which one is better to use in practice?

29:37 "Risk of burn-in"... Rather, it's 100% assured you'll get it eventually if you display static content. Took 4 years on my C9 and I didn't use it for productivity. Asus new beta firmware changes Console HDR mode to be more like Gigabyte HDR Game and APL High mode. I also found HDR colors on the GB to be more like DCI while the Asus seemed to clamp my colors to sRGB when windows HDR was active.
It's possible DP 2.1 graphics cards will unlock ALL features on these monitors even with DSC on. The reason it doesn't work now is if using DSC utilizes more bandwidth than possible on one port it internally uses two monitor ports. Wait another 3-5 years when OLED monitors aren't flawed anymore
I have the gsync one. No issue with control
I wish more monitors has a 2.0 / 2.2 gamma setting like Asus, HDR on windows gets kinda funky

i really like u're detailed videos.

Is there a point to daisy-chaining? I'm honestly wondering what potential benefit there is.
ALL things being equal, why wouldn't I pick this one over others if not for the DP 2.1 feature along? For my RTX 5090 that is.
Question for someone experienced with many OLEDs:
I tried the MSI MPG 321 URX OLED for about 3 weeks and kept getting crazy headaches & eye strain to the point that I had to return it.
Still waiting for the 1440p 480Hz, that's the one for me.
Especially not a fan of on games lower than DX12
how about review about AOC Q27G4X
Could you add a regular 32" 4K IPS for the text clarity comparison?
If monitor whales buy these at current prices. Oled prices will never go properly down.
thanks
Can you review the new BIOS with HDR1000 mode?
I use my AW3423DW alongside my old AW3418DW for productivity work and I can not see any difference in text clarity.
Both look great.
My only conclusion is your received a defective unit for your review and are now talking about it like it's a common issue on OLED. Or my unit is particularly good and doesn't suffer this issue btu I don't see how that's possible based on the way you describe the issue.
A little too expensive but worth it for the future proofing of not having to buy another monitor with DP 2.1 in the future.
2:10 I’d be interested to see how the monitors look with the RGB turned off-(or noted if that for some reason isn’t possible)
Oh well... gonna go with the rog one i guess..
the QD-OLEDs purple tint is a no go for me
can you share original screenshots/videos of your 3 month burn in video, as TH-cam is compressing the video too much to see it properly ?
Are you also going to review the Samsung G80SD ? I'm leaning towards that one, but it's a difficult choice.
