That thing looks so 80's. I think that's really cool! What a beautiful tribute to probably the greatest Lamborghini ever made. Wasn't sure how to feel about it at first but im totally in love with it. It truly gorgeous.
The greatest Lamborghini ever made is the Miura, the first ever mid-engine car that revolutionized the entire segment and created the "supercar concept". Even Ferraris were front engine before the Miura, only a few F1 cars and Endurance prototypes were rear/mid engine before the Miura. Ciao dall'Italia 🤗

Seeing this go from a rendering to a full scale car I’m in awe. Seeing one of your childhood poster cars back in action is amazing great job Lamborghini 🤯😎
I've been a lifelong Lamborghini fan and I must say this is a fitting swansong for the Aventador/Sian that it's based upon. I adore Countach 2.0. For me, the design is spot on. There is enough resemblance to tie it to the original, a few "family" touches that tie it to the modern brand and just enough original lines that make it a stand alone model. The one piece of design I find especially pleasing to the eye are the wheel arches (front and rear) with the trademark Gandini angles and slashes, also the heavily truncated rear end. The only thing that's missing is pop up headlights a la original but I understand that's due to regulation constraints, but the covered lights do a great job of emulating the Countach face. The only thing I struggled with design wise was the caricature NACA ducts on the flank, but I'm coming to terms with them. I would like to see one in Walter Wolf red on black with gold wheels and tan interior. That would be mega!!!

Skills unattainable by the common man no doubt. I’ve tuned in to be entertained but I left horrified of the injustice this car and road received in this video.
Exactly what I was thinking . This video should be titled “stelvio pass history lesson” . We couldn’t even hear nothing from the car , he was just talking over it the whole time . Almost forgot there was a Lambo in the vid
Maybe you reading too much into things... projecting or grasping at straws, buddy? Lambo is drama. The Road, "Stelvio" is drama... 6.5L V12, naturally aspirated. 200+ year old 'German/Itialian' road. The retro Lambo of the future. Too the Moon!
Great video, I really appreciate Ollie going into detail about the history of the Stelvio pass. As for the "Countach": sure it's an Aventador and sure it's bean counters and marketeers who created it. But good lord, is it beautiful.
@@LBenn302 In my eyes it definitely did. Cutting slits in the body work and putting an awful looking "wing" on a car make it look like a crashed space shuttle from the 80s and not like a modern supercar. For comparison the 992 GT3 has similar front vents, a proper wing but is otherwise a very clean, crisp and modern design. The Aventador headlights also look incredibly dated.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma You did _not_ just call the 992 GT3 a _modern_ design?!? Come _ON!_ I love 911s but you really can't apply the term _"modern"_ to them with a straight face. If you like the 992 GT3 and don't like this car, that's absolutely fine - but please don't try to justify your opinion by claiming that any 911 is anything other than a continuously iterated _legacy_ design (I'm even fine with _"timeless"_ 😂). Even the Porsche designers would laugh at you for that one.
@@Bruce.-Wayne it's 10 years old and the transmission is garbage, even in the video they said they couldn't reverse the thing up a slope lol. And you're paying 10x of a standard Aventador for a body kit and a mild hybrid system, the interior isn't any different.
True Lamborghini's are not about perfection, it's the experience - tight grip on the wheel, hard concentration ,man handling of a beast that will kill you, and should leave you sweaty after a drive and thinking "wow" i can't believe i just did that! That was awesome! With a big smile on your face !

13:18 I mean… what about performance? Surely there’s going to be a dramatic impact on aero. Are you overtly confirming that’s a trade off you’re willing to make?
Thank you. I find this video annoying because i wanted to hear more of the revs and engine. And each time i'm given a moment of bliss to hear the beast, the presenter cuts in and doesn't stop talking. Ruins it for me.
And he threw the rock back into the road rather than put it to the side....really shameful message even if not what really happened and just for show. If real, doubly shameful.
I feel is sharp enough. So spot on, I saw one picture and immediately said, " hey, that looks like a new version of the Countach", I had a poster and the scale model as a kid. Any sharper would of made it look like a model from the early 2000s. They did a great job, is easy to see is a new Countach
Forget the review, I love what Lamborghini did with the revamp of the Countach. Feels they took the right parts of the old and added them to a new design. Also awesome to see a random Senna car owner.
I think the brake pedal cutting power is a vw group “safety” feature which is exacerbated with the single clutch. The ability to use brake and accelerator together was taken away electronically across the board to prevent unintended acceleration a few years ago.
This harkens back to the "Audi unintended acceleration" scandal. I am not sure it is so easy to allow that the happen and have some safety. I personally could do without the feature but as litigious as some people are, I can understand from a VAG perspective why this is a thing. SADLY.
@@DoctaM3 tbh this happens when people go from manual to automatic and don't understand that you should forget about your left food. Experienced it twice on the passenger seat. People get scared of something and want to break like in a manual they push both pedals get shocked about the sudden braking and then hit the gas fully thinking its the break. Especially common in Germany and Europe about the time manual got mainstream here.
i have a 2008 Fiat Bravo (manual) and it does the exact same thing. you simply cant use both pedals at the same time. it could be an ESP setting from the factory (after all, they all use Bosch ESP)
The original was my favorite car ever. This is truly breathtaking. I’m so used to companies letting me down everywhere but Lamborghini hit the mark this time. Perfection

Ollie, wish I had your job lad!
I remember my father taking me to a car show that had the previous Countach on display and I couldn't peel my eyes from it, I'm getting that same feeling again
Wow! I think the new Countach looks great. I look at this bad girl, especially from the front, and I see a Lamborghini Countach. The rear 3/4 angle/view looks aggressive and amazing. I love it.
This is as much a review of the pass as it is of the car. I love it! As for the Countach, take a bow, Lamborghini! Wish it had a longer production run. One of the last greats of a dying Era.
My first thought: I want to go to there. My second thought: I like the new Countach but I wish they had waited, and built it on the new platform that will replace the Aventador.
Otherworldly natural beauty with the gorgeous Countach homage...you couldn't invent a more photogenic experience...as a driving experience it seems exhausting... But the hills are alive with the sound of Lambo. Epic.
I fell in love with Lamborghini from the first time I saw and heard one. It's an animal. I love highly technical music called Jazz-Rock Fusion and other technical things like synthesizers. But then I LOVE AC/DC. It's a visceral, animal thing. It is an ingenious blend of intelligence and brute force. A man's car.
I think this was a great attempt at a countach. A proper representation of a modern namesake. Wish it wasn’t a limited collectible model and just a regular production one. But I like the revival route Lamborghini is taking. I hope this is a thing and they bring back the Miura.
For me the countach was always my pin up super hyper car poster of all time. It’s that wild futuristic timeless look that made it so amazing. But the new one looks older for some reason to me. Is it retro look? But I think it lost its original appeal
@@thunderbug8640 Yep. I agree. It lost it's original look. And in doing so, it lost it's original appeal. I mean yeah they could modernise the interior to better suit the times we live in today. And they could make improvements on the original engine so that it runs smoother. That's what I would have went for. Meanwhile this car is just a stinking cash grab! But it's not money so I won't complain. Ya know? 😏
@@StevieObieYT I think the front does a great homage to the original, but the rear looks like every other lambo. Hopefully they release a special model with these changes.
Yeup they didnt' change the Aventador enough save for the (now) comically large side vents and the fender shape. Not a fan, feel bad for the Countach, it deserved a better more thoughful re-introduction.

@@nicholascanjuga6000THANK YOU SO MUCH YES BRO ITS SO INSANE best gen ever 😂😂
Let's face it: In the end, the modernized classics are nothing but new cars that carry the name of and look a bit like a legend.
@@YTOnceAgain exactly that
@@YTOnceAgain nothing wrong with that. It's kinda like the 911: timeless styling, updated through the decades. It will forever be recognizable from just a silhouette: very few modern cars have that kind of recognizabiity. Countach is very similar in that regard.
That thing looks so 80's. I think that's really cool! What a beautiful tribute to probably the greatest Lamborghini ever made. Wasn't sure how to feel about it at first but im totally in love with it. It truly gorgeous.
I personally feel the sian is the better representationf of the modern countach
The greatest Lamborghini ever made is the Miura, the first ever mid-engine car that revolutionized the entire segment and created the "supercar concept".
Even Ferraris were front engine before the Miura, only a few F1 cars and Endurance prototypes were rear/mid engine before the Miura.
Ciao dall'Italia 🤗
No this impostor "Countach's" lines are mostly wrong. That gaping black triangle in profile just exemplifies the clumsy design.
A VW cash grab, no passion.

An Aventador with a body kit pretty much but I ain't complaining tho
True
I actually think this is one of the most beautiful Lambo ever made..
It’s quite amazing how you’ve made driving a new Lamborghini on that road seem so boring 🤷♂️that is a skill you could do without
Skills unattainable by the common man no doubt.
And he apparently left that boulder on the road. I would have put it to the side and said 'well that's one less for them to do!'
“Man gives history lesson while he drives slowly up a mountain road and learns how to pronounce ‘Countach’”
They should have assigned him a Ford Fit to review.. more his speed...
Looks Beautiful. Every time I look at the road, I imagine how good it would be in a Mazda MX5. Perfect road for a slower car that handles really well.

Sadly because the car isn’t all that. Shameless money grab by Lamborghini.
Surely one of the world's most elegant Uruguayan sports cars.
Great video, I really appreciate Ollie going into detail about the history of the Stelvio pass. As for the "Countach": sure it's an Aventador and sure it's bean counters and marketeers who created it. But good lord, is it beautiful.
Looks outdated and modern at the same time
@@xzrex6908 That's pretty much every Lamborghini ever
@@DefinitelyNotEmma lol what? The aventador svj looked outdated on release? Gonna have to disagree with you there.

I just love the fact that Lamborghini is producing this car again, and it's funny that looking at it reminds me of the original.
Minus the wing....I wish they could bring it back too
@Maverick ....they realize it'd cost too much for an original design and why not use a platform already in use....
@@Bruce.-Wayne it's 10 years old and the transmission is garbage, even in the video they said they couldn't reverse the thing up a slope lol. And you're paying 10x of a standard Aventador for a body kit and a mild hybrid system, the interior isn't any different.

You get to drive a magnificent car on a magnificent road thats been closed just for you and all we hear is the presenter babbling on about something
Thank you. I find this video annoying because i wanted to hear more of the revs and engine. And each time i'm given a moment of bliss to hear the beast, the presenter cuts in and doesn't stop talking. Ruins it for me.
This is actualky the point of the video. Talking about this Aventador... sorry "Countach".
This is based on the original '70s Countach, not the famed version of eighties wall posters, assuming that's what you meant.
I think it looks like a cross between a Diablo and an Aventador, especially from side on.
The front looks quite Countachy but that's about it :/
It's truly incredible that they named a mountain pass after an Alfa Romeo and is a testament to Alfa's reputation in mountain construction.

Forget the review, I love what Lamborghini did with the revamp of the Countach. Feels they took the right parts of the old and added them to a new design. Also awesome to see a random Senna car owner.
i know this car is basically a skinsled Aventador/Sion but I expected more of a review on the car then the road it was driven on
😂😂 and the fact they used Forzah h4 Lamborghini Aventador sounds in the beginning clip
I think the brake pedal cutting power is a vw group “safety” feature which is exacerbated with the single clutch. The ability to use brake and accelerator together was taken away electronically across the board to prevent unintended acceleration a few years ago.
With automatic that makes sense
Okay noone ask but thanks
13:15 I completely disagree. This is just about the best looking Lamborghini ever. It's still going to look amazing 50 years from now.

Gandini's 1971 Bertone Countach LP 500.
It's so beautiful, Lamborghini recently just had to build another one. Lol.
Exactly if u want original retro vibe. Small hint buy the original countach..

The original was my favorite car ever. This is truly breathtaking. I’m so used to companies letting me down everywhere but Lamborghini hit the mark this time. Perfection
Can’t beat the design of the original, beautiful.
I'm struggling to think of someone who has a better job than Ollie. Years ago before top gear's TH-cam channel really took off, you'd have thought maybe the old "three" had the best time of it. But this guy, this guy just tests the cars in some of the most spectacular environs, doesn't even have to be bogged down in presenting a tv show, doing some silly challenge or doing some dumb kitbashing shit. he just gets to drive phenomenal cars.
Ollie, wish I had your job lad!

Looks perfect but i would have the amg one rather than that.
I remember my father taking me to a car show that had the previous Countach on display and I couldn't peel my eyes from it, I'm getting that same feeling again
You have the Countach on your hands and have the audacity to include sound files from a Forza game. Those upshifts gave it away @ 00:28..
Top gear fell off so hard
I love the fact they used the horizon 5 Lamborghini sound for the beginning of the video
I really like this design. It's very simple and straightforward compared to other Lamborghini body designs.

I think Ollie is the luckiest chap in the Top Gear team right now. He has drive a Singer DLS, AM Victor, now this. Man I'm jealous
None of those cars even compare to what James, Richard, and Jeremy got to drive

Yeah, it feels a lot like a dirty cash grab tbh, riding on the name without any of the charm. I mean 2.2 million for what is essentialy an Aventador 🤨
