dear enthusiasts. Please appreciate the fact that the production of this 5.0 NA V8 would not have been possible without the low emissions of the much hated Prius HSD. Given strict emissions regulations nowadays, and the mean CO2 values across the model range of a manufacturer, german car producers simply cannot afford such big displacement NA engines anymore. So take a moment and say thank you Prius, for making this possible.
Lexus v8s get surprisingly good fuel economy. You could 30 mpg on the highway with this. My GS460 has gotten 31 on roadtrips if I’m driving around 60 the whole time
Were you able to afford it yet? I'm just going to be saving up for a 2019 or 2020, but in 5 years. That's the only way I'll be able to afford it and the only way I would buy this car is if it's used.
Buy it used! That’s what I just did. I got a 2016 model but it feels (and drives!) like a brand new car! I got the Nebula Gray Pearl with the Circuit Red interior. It’s an incredible machine! Oh, and don’t be swayed by what TH-cam car reviewers say about the infotainment. It’s a fine system and works well, in my opinion.
The seat coolers are directly connected to the A/C fan speed/climate control. To push more air through the ventilated seats you have to crank up fan speed. I bet you had the fan speed at 20-40% or so when testing. To get most air going through the ventilated seats, and cool down Tiffany’s G-String area, set air to upper body air outlets. Great review. Waiting on IS-F review now.
I’ve had my 2019 GS F for a month now and this review was a part of my decision process. Overall, good review, just a few things I would not agree with, for one, I do often drive the car for all it’s worth, it flat out halls ass and handles like a dream car. I could have had a new Corvette for the price of thus car, but I prefer this for daily driver, I don’t need a “look at me” kind of car, I’m long passed that age 13 type of thinking. I prefer the reliability this car brings to the game. I don’t lease cars. The infotainment system is not hard to use for me, maybe if the reviewer had it for more than a couple of days he would get the hang of it, probably not, his mind is made up it’s not what he’s used to. Unlike what the mechanic said about the stereo system, It sounds fantastic at any volume. For one thing, you need to bypass the digital processing and listen in stereo, with a touch extra bass and twice that on the treble, then put in a disc or play Tidal steaming over Bluetooth and it sounds fantastic. I hate to say this but every single mechanic friend of mine has blown out their hearing, they all have such a limited range of frequencies left for listening to music that it’s sad, real sad. I have always loved music so much I have taken care of my hearing but for some macho reason, the Mecanic friends of mine never have and they run loud air tools all day, every day, so they are bad judges of stereo equipment. That 1,350. Dollar stereo upgrade is worth it and great. Never take the Mechanic’s advice on sounds, their hearing is shot.

Thank you for this input. I just sold my 99 GS400 after 21 years and I’d definitely in the market for a GSF. I plan to purchase sometime early next year. I’ve heard complaints about the infotainment system but I’m not put off by it, I agree with your take. Thanks for the advice and anymore would be greatly appreciated. I think this car is awesome, can’t wait to own one!
I wouldn’t trust most people as music and sound quality is highly subjective and I find most people are less picky than I am when it comes to sound quality.
Hey, So sorry I had to post this here, but I tried to call you and I can't get a hold of you and you didn't respond to my text. I found the information that you asked me about.... It's called pruritus anusitis, in other words anal itching - it's quite common and is not dangerous. It can happen if you don't wipe your butt properly. It can also be a sign of hemorrhoids in or near your butt hole, I still recommend you keep that doctor appointment. Wash it and keep it really clean and also wash your hands before & after you scratch, that way you wont get pink eye like you did last time. If kept clean, the anal odor should be bearable although you may want to keep spray in your car.

I just picked up an certified used one for 58k (14k miles) comes with 6 yr unlimited miles warranty, 2 yrs free service and 0.9% for 60 month. I do agreed the original MSRP is way too high but I think its a perfect daily for 58k.

The biggest downfall is definitely the price. The RC F should be mid to high 60's and the GS F low to mid 70's. Trust me they would fly off the Lexus dealerships lots.
Well actually people say that dealers are giving big discounts on these F cars. I agree that at MSRP these are overpriced but lots of dealers are willing to give good deals on these.
My only bone of contention is the styling of the car, especially the front end, the grill is ok but like what the gentleman said it looks as though it's been tagged on as a last afterthought
Great review!! I just picked up a 2020 GS F and that NA V8 sounds just sublime. People complain of the infotainment, but who buys a car for that? I got mine for $17+K below that $90K price point.
just started working for lexus and it's nice to get to drive these cars. wasn't much of a fan of lexus but now I can appreciate them. only thing I will say is their backup cameras are terrible.
Fabulous review. Disagree on the RCF call though - had both and I personally think the GS F is a way better all around proposition. Drives better, way more practical, anyway, both great cars in their own way. Also, I got my nearly new, low mileage fully loaded GS F for less than I paid for the RC F new... Spot on review. I had a choice between the RC F and this car but wanted a 4 door. I liked that blue color but wanted red seats and the caviar(black) goes better with the red seats. After driving it for almost 2 years, a few things observations: - For a V8 the car isn't very loud and you certainly aren't going to turn any heads by sound alone, I put on an aftermarket mid pipe and the car now sounds great - Stock brake pads are known to squeal and make a LOT of brake dust - my brakes turned heads when i stopped at traffic lights for the wrong reason - the noise was ear piercing. Replace them with aftermarket pads or the dealer will replace them with an alternative for free (but you'll sacrifice braking power) - ASC - Active Sound Control - is annoying and should be a feature that never comes on unless you activate it. It's on in sport mode but a little quieter and on full sound in sport +. Basically every GS F owner automatically hits this button to turn it off every time they put it into sport or sport + mode and there's no way to permanently deactivate it unless you unplug the rear speaker it comes from. - Shifting in sport+ mode can be very jerky, i tend to drive highway in sport + and side roads/city in normal or sport mode. - The mouse for the infotainment system is goofy and I am just able to tolerate it. This car is addicting to drive. I have to stop myself from trying to find reasons to go out and do errands just so I can drive it. I see myself owning this car for the long term.
If you want a new E39 M5, with updated tech and interior, then this is the car. I actually love that 5 liter in this and RC-F. It makes the same power (unmodified) as it's competitors, folks say they are getting better real world mileage, and should be more reliable. Is it expensive? Sure. But i think this is more of a 550i/E43 competitor, instead of an M5/E63 competitor. It's priced the same as those and seems like WAY more fun.

I was a lifelong German car fan. I always loved them and always wanted one. When I got my first REAL great car, it was a 2008 BMW X3 and I loved it. 3 year lease, zero problems, but thank god I turned it in then. I was never a Lexus guy. I would have though SavageGeese was a little nuts for his love (mostly) of Lexus vehicles, until this year when I test drove, and brought home, a Lexus ES 300h. I wanted a hybrid, period. I can't STAND wasting resources. I was like, look, a FULLY loaded Prius 4 top trim is $33k. Let's just get that. Then, before I bought, I took my wife and checked out the Lexus version of a Prius, basically, the CT200h. Pretty nice, but the salesman suggested we look at the ES300h and it looked AMAZING in Nebula Gray Pearl, and got the same 40mpg. We sat in it, drove it, and were like, holy crap we'll take it. 0-60 is 8.1, which isn't terrible, and it feels faster than that, and the ride quality was worlds better than the Prius or CT200h. $50k loaded, yes, but we WANT to run errands now, lol. I can't wait to hop in it every time.
I had pretty much the same experience. I started with a Toyota Auris (not available in the USA, closest relative is the Corolla) and while it was a good car, as far as driving goes it never got better than "mwoah". Then I upgraded to a Lexus IS 300h. A nice car, looks good and drives well, but it didn't have the comfort I wanted. Then I came across a used GS 450h with top-level trim for a very good price, went for a test drive and bought it the very next day. While it's not as fast as the GS F it does 0-60 in approx 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph so it's no slouch either. This performance doesn't come at the cost of efficiency: on average I'm getting 33 MPG with a lot of city traffic but on long highway drives I can get up to 44 MPG. As far as I'm concerned this car has it all: performance, comfort and efficiency. An amazing piece of engineering.
The front design honest looks very good and those who say it's a outdated look need to really give us a list of their boring design easily breakable vehicles
The only Lexus I've seen that looks good with the spindle grille is the LC500... The IS wears it okay.. Everything else looks terrible and tacked on.. The GS, ES, and especially the LS look much worse with it.
Not sure if that guy was joking, but this is a driver's car. If you wanna sit back, relax, and play on your phone buy an ES330, Buick, or Cadillac. GSF would be great with a manual

The reason this channel doesn't get more views is due to the channel name. It might seem like a stretch at first to say this but think it through and you'll see there's merit to the observation. That, plus the juvenile humor, go a long way toward explaining why the Goose doesn't have more viewers. Put it this way...this content is for an older niche audience just like certain kinds of music. Think Lou Reed or Warren Zevon.
The reason why you are getting understeer is because you have traction control on still. The "EXPERT MODE" does not shut off traction control completely, its mostly on still and will understeer. You need to put the car in park mode, and in sport+, hold the traction control button until expert mode disappeared. That, you will get oversteer all the time when pushing through corners. It's a weird hidden thing that I didn't find that in my manual.
Great review 👊, I watched this 3 times before buying a 2nd hand one in Australia 🇦🇺 over Holden VF Calais Director which has a Chev LS3 6.3 litre engine - paid a little more than the Holden couldn’t really compare with the ride and feel, and of course quality of finish 👌🏼
My mother owns a Lexus GS350. While it's no GS F, the basic chassis is simply amazing. It truly is a shame that Lexus is discontinuing the model (for understandable reasons: not enough people buy them) and I have a feeling that in a few years, it will be sorely missed and there may be an increased demand for it as a used car, at least that is what I hope.
I have the 2016 GSF, white, red seats are awesome, black wheels. I drive the shit out of it. Thinking of trading for 2018, love this blue, and atomic Silver, but definitely my red seat. I personally love the front end, it sold me on the GSF over the BMW M550
The LS is a 4 door but i think the grille works on it. The problem with the GSF is that the body looks too normal and rounded compared to the too angular front end. They don't blend together
I like the previous ISF V8. Today every car wants to look like a million bucks and a top speed of 200 mph. The older was subtle, elegant with a hint of what it hides under.

Excellent review as always - if it were me I'd probably go for the RC F as well. I get the GS F, but it wouldn't be worth the extra cash for me. The RC is also a bit more in your face about the fact that it's a performance-oriented vehicle. Anyways, I look forward to your next review!

Great review!! I just picked up a 2020 GS F and that NA V8 sounds just sublime. People complain of the infotainment, but who buys a car for that? I got mine for $17+K below that $90K price point.

just started working for lexus and it's nice to get to drive these cars. wasn't much of a fan of lexus but now I can appreciate them. only thing I will say is their backup cameras are terrible.

Fabulous review. Disagree on the RCF call though - had both and I personally think the GS F is a way better all around proposition. Drives better, way more practical, anyway, both great cars in their own way. Also, I got my nearly new, low mileage fully loaded GS F for less than I paid for the RC F new... 5 years later and these things are still expensive as hell.
Spot on review. I had a choice between the RC F and this car but wanted a 4 door. I liked that blue color but wanted red seats and the caviar(black) goes better with the red seats. After driving it for almost 2 years, a few things observations:
- For a V8 the car isn't very loud and you certainly aren't going to turn any heads by sound alone, I put on an aftermarket mid pipe and the car now sounds great
- Stock brake pads are known to squeal and make a LOT of brake dust - my brakes turned heads when i stopped at traffic lights for the wrong reason - the noise was ear piercing. Replace them with aftermarket pads or the dealer will replace them with an alternative for free (but you'll sacrifice braking power)
- ASC - Active Sound Control - is annoying and should be a feature that never comes on unless you activate it. It's on in sport mode but a little quieter and on full sound in sport +. Basically every GS F owner automatically hits this button to turn it off every time they put it into sport or sport + mode and there's no way to permanently deactivate it unless you unplug the rear speaker it comes from.
- Shifting in sport+ mode can be very jerky, i tend to drive highway in sport + and side roads/city in normal or sport mode.
- The mouse for the infotainment system is goofy and I am just able to tolerate it.
This car is addicting to drive. I have to stop myself from trying to find reasons to go out and do errands just so I can drive it. I see myself owning this car for the long term.
If you want a new E39 M5, with updated tech and interior, then this is the car. I actually love that 5 liter in this and RC-F. It makes the same power (unmodified) as it's competitors, folks say they are getting better real world mileage, and should be more reliable. Is it expensive? Sure. But i think this is more of a 550i/E43 competitor, instead of an M5/E63 competitor. It's priced the same as those and seems like WAY more fun.
Agreed. This is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best) produced/shot/edited and presented car review channels on online. Truely unique and always honest. The obscure humour that's thrown in from time to time is classic, too.

I was a lifelong German car fan. I always loved them and always wanted one. When I got my first REAL great car, it was a 2008 BMW X3 and I loved it. 3 year lease, zero problems, but thank god I turned it in then. I was never a Lexus guy. I would have though SavageGeese was a little nuts for his love (mostly) of Lexus vehicles, until this year when I test drove, and brought home, a Lexus ES 300h. I wanted a hybrid, period. I can't STAND wasting resources. I was like, look, a FULLY loaded Prius 4 top trim is $33k. Let's just get that. Then, before I bought, I took my wife and checked out the Lexus version of a Prius, basically, the CT200h. Pretty nice, but the salesman suggested we look at the ES300h and it looked AMAZING in Nebula Gray Pearl, and got the same 40mpg. We sat in it, drove it, and were like, holy crap we'll take it. 0-60 is 8.1, which isn't terrible, and it feels faster than that, and the ride quality was worlds better than the Prius or CT200h. $50k loaded, yes, but we WANT to run errands now, lol. I can't wait to hop in it every time.
I had pretty much the same experience. I started with a Toyota Auris (not available in the USA, closest relative is the Corolla) and while it was a good car, as far as driving goes it never got better than "mwoah". Then I upgraded to a Lexus IS 300h. A nice car, looks good and drives well, but it didn't have the comfort I wanted. Then I came across a used GS 450h with top-level trim for a very good price, went for a test drive and bought it the very next day. While it's not as fast as the GS F it does 0-60 in approx 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph so it's no slouch either. This performance doesn't come at the cost of efficiency: on average I'm getting 33 MPG with a lot of city traffic but on long highway drives I can get up to 44 MPG. As far as I'm concerned this car has it all: performance, comfort and efficiency. An amazing piece of engineering.

The only Lexus I've seen that looks good with the spindle grille is the LC500... The IS wears it okay.. Everything else looks terrible and tacked on.. The GS, ES, and especially the LS look much worse with it.
Not sure if that guy was joking, but this is a driver's car. If you wanna sit back, relax, and play on your phone buy an ES330, Buick, or Cadillac. GSF would be great with a manual

I really want to see what Scott drives, he shit's all over this car like his car is way faster and better made and better looking, and less expensive, I want to see a car like that, I never have but Scott must have one the way he is so turned off by everything Lexus does with this car. Being a snob is such a turn off of a personality trait. Maybe it comes with turning wrenches all day. The best comment from the reviewer is he can't imagine too many people nit picking this thing. The reason this channel doesn't get more views is due to the channel name. It might seem like a stretch at first to say this but think it through and you'll see there's merit to the observation. That, plus the juvenile humor, go a long way toward explaining why the Goose doesn't have more viewers. Put it this way...this content is for an older niche audience just like certain kinds of music. Think Lou Reed or Warren Zevon.
Part comedy parody makes it tricky to know what is fact vs joke
The reason why you are getting understeer is because you have traction control on still. The "EXPERT MODE" does not shut off traction control completely, its mostly on still and will understeer. You need to put the car in park mode, and in sport+, hold the traction control button until expert mode disappeared. That, you will get oversteer all the time when pushing through corners. It's a weird hidden thing that I didn't find that in my manual.
It was tested in expert mode same as RCF.
Funny thing - Chris Harris said that the GS-F has Öhlins shocks, yet here we can clearly read Sachs...

Great review 👊, I watched this 3 times before buying a 2nd hand one in Australia 🇦🇺 over Holden VF Calais Director which has a Chev LS3 6.3 litre engine - paid a little more than the Holden couldn’t really compare with the ride and feel, and of course quality of finish 👌🏼

My mother owns a Lexus GS350. While it's no GS F, the basic chassis is simply amazing. It truly is a shame that Lexus is discontinuing the model (for understandable reasons: not enough people buy them) and I have a feeling that in a few years, it will be sorely missed and there may be an increased demand for it as a used car, at least that is what I hope.
I have the 2016 GSF, white, red seats are awesome, black wheels. I drive the shit out of it. Thinking of trading for 2018, love this blue, and atomic Silver, but definitely my red seat. I personally love the front end, it sold me on the GSF over the BMW M550
The LS is a 4 door but i think the grille works on it. The problem with the GSF is that the body looks too normal and rounded compared to the too angular front end. They don't blend together
You can get pre-owned, ultra low mileage examples for $60K. At that price it makes more sense.

Excellent review as always - if it were me I'd probably go for the RC F as well. I get the GS F, but it wouldn't be worth the extra cash for me. The RC is also a bit more in your face about the fact that it's a performance-oriented vehicle. Anyways, I look forward to your next review!
