People saying it's a Toyota like that's a bad thing. Toyota is the benchmark for quality control! They are consistently at the top or near it in reliability year in, year out... Now Lexus adds the luxury and beauty on top...
Sorry, but there's more to a car than reliability. Toyotas are the sensible shoes of the car world. They're not known as the go-to manufacturer of great driving automobiles in the same vein as BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, or even Mazda. This LC500, and a few other recent Lexus models of late are the exception, but in general, Toyotas are the milquetoast of the automotive world. They had the Supra back in the 90s which gave them a foot in the door, but that's long since gone. And you can give a nod to the 86, but that's at least half Subaru, even built at a Subaru plant. And the Yaris sedan is actually a Mazda. Toyota, where are you? On top of that, Toyota has turned a lot of people off with their new design language, incorporating that hideous spindle grill and Predator snout on most of their product. With the exception of this LC500, the consensus is that new Toyotas are flat out ugly. As an older, long time enthusiast, I've owned around 40 different cars thus far, and not one has ever been a Toyota.
I bought this exact car in August from a retired man getting ready to move to florida and by a boat. It is 2018 Infared with the toasted caramel interior. It had less than 8000 miles garage kept, never driven in the rain, heck he said he never drove it at night cause he didn't want bugs on it. So, it is Cherry and was his baby. I got such a great deal and I absolutely adore this car. I have a 2018 z06 with the extremely rare C7r package and let me just say that when I am in my LC 500 I feel more special even though my z06 is rarer and faster. There is just something futuristic yet vintage about this car. I would recommend mend the LC 500 to anyone who appreciates high end quality. Hopefully it will do the classic japanese car thing. Nobody buys them, prices drop and resale value is terrible and the second hand market is a buyers market. then the price jumps when people realize how good they are.
+TeensierPython - Except I've not heard of Japanese cars with terrible resale value, in general. Try buying a used Toyota Tacoma or any Subaru or other popular models. They hold their values. I waited years for the prices of NSXs to become affordable and it didn't happen. They were always out of reach for me, and still are. Plus there are now many better cars for less money than a 90s NSX. You're buying one as a collectible now, not a daily driver.
Hello SavageGeese. I don't know your first name but I must say that I think you might be the best car reviewer on youtube. I love the way you have your mechanic friends give their opinions. I am addicted to watching car videos and I've seen quite a few. You very likely might be the absolute best! Love your style and demeanor. Fantastic!!
Whats wrong with that mechanic saying its a woman car? Its a V8 5.0L with 471 HP for Christ sake! Whats does he consider a mans car, a tractor? Besides that stupid comment, this video is great and I really like it. Good amount of info about the car, nice shots. Thank you for making this.
why do we need to define car design as masculine, feminine, womanly, etc, etc...? is it really a necessary thing to label cars that way? I simply can’t understand why so many people say when it’s curvy it’s feminine, when it’s squarely then that’s masculine. I feel those are pretty boring and stupid characterizations.
Lexus is continuing the long tradition of making my favorite car of theirs something I wont be able to afford for 20 years. This thing make me want to cruise Craigslist for an old SC430. :-)
Forget the car and review points - the videography, story sequence, and editing is perfection. I love cars, but I also view Savage Geese to study it's presentation. Great job SG.
Every time I go get my Lexus serviced at DCH Lexus of Santa Barbara and Lexus of Woodland Hills, I always sit inside the various LC500s they have. Finally I took one for a test drive and I fell in love with it. I have to have one...eventually
I have seen this car twice and it looks both striking and great. First I saw it at the SF car show, and most recently in the "wild" when I was visiting Las Vegas, and it blew me away.
I watched this video in 2021, and this video doesn't feel outdated at all considering it's 3 years old already. Subscribed right away after watching this. Really love the deep presentation.
LC500 is the BEST new car of 2017/18. The Lexus brand is bringing Japan into a unique class of car Japanese cars have never been in before. This car is being compared to the likes of Aston Martin and Bentley coupe's. This car honestly should cost way more then Lexus is asking for it I'm not sure how its only 92k. The interior is above any Benz Audi and BMW. This is truly the best car to come out of Japan in a very long time. This car isn't just about the numbers Lexus built this thing with a soul. Its special because there's nothing like it on the market. Period. Its not copying anything or trying to be like any other car... where the Germans are basically copying each other with specs, performance and design. Lexus engeineers wanted to give you something special and that's what this is. I am really looking forward to LCF. Great video man.
shaft9000 the LC500 received 5 times more praise then the NSX. The NSX is actually not love as much as it predecessor and it doesn't break any ground in anything. This Lexus won the Eye Design award. It's has build quality of cars costing 2 times as much. A exhaust note that's sounds better then the NSX. It's also more fun to drive then the NSX because of its RWD. You don't like it that's ok there's always that one person but 95 percent of people think it's looks killer. This car even beat the Bentley continental Sport in a comparison. the LCF will look even more sick and have more power the NSX. Acura as a brand in general aren't really doing anything worth while outside of the NSX. Lexus is leading the way for Japanese automobiles in the high end market
@@insooleedat1asiandude Yeah really, go look at the used market no depreciation no turbos Japanese reliability. If you ever see one in person they are head turners.
I'm a Japanese guy. And a big fun of your review. Your review is vastly outstanding from any other car review channels as many other people here admit. Very fair for any manufacturer or country or region, which is still very rare nowadays. And extremely accurate information from the careful, sensitive driving and deep knowledge. I admire you and your friends. Please keep on making great content!
Incredible review! Maybe one of the best car reviews I've seen. The amount of research you did is evident in how all you relayed the details. The production quality is second to none. I was entertained and educated at the same time...just absolute top notch stuff here! I feel like your reviews are just in a completely different league versus other TH-cam car reviewers.
+J.J.K.- I own a Lexus SC400 with 45,000 miles on the clock. Silver over Black leather. Nakamichi, Lexus original chrome 5 spokes, etc. *STILL* Puts a smile on my face each time I twist the key...
Same here I have 275,000 miles on my 92 and it still makes me happy driving it. I just did my ignition, suspension and timing belt maintenance. As long as the maintenance is done these engines will last a lifetime.
I love my 04 GS430 the UZ is a remarkable motor its butter smooth and just gets going. I just kind of wish Lexus didn’t make accessing controls inside the car so complex. They made two steps forward in certain areas and one step back on another. Seeing how this will hold up 10 to 15 years from now with all the electronics in this car will be a big question mark.
this has to be the best (neutral) car review I've ever seen. the production quality is off the charts and the tester as well as his teams attention to detail is so refreshing.
Man, you killed me with that intro, it blows my mind how good it looks in red with that tan interior, hands down the best looking car in the last 10 years. 10/10 review. Never knew you existed until Obsessed Garage mentioned you. Hope 2018 will bring you more subscribers. Happy new year!
I agree. This design of this car is incredible and for its price which i think should be a lot more this car cant be beat. When I saw this car for the first time I could not take my eyes off of it. Its beautiful.
My passion now is watching car reviews, your's are very good the under car views, the suspension components explained. and the Road test. NICE. and you cover everything from mild to wild. I could never own this car. but at least i got to go for the ride.
I have come back and watched this video so many times. But when you hear that engine note and the shifting at 32.15 it never fails to make me smile. I really hope I can afford to own this car, even if only for a short period, at some point in my life.
Awesome video. I have this car in red /tan with the performance package. Most of his criticisms of the car were true for me as well. Despite those negatives, there is major upside and emotional engagement that you won't find in other cars. A car doesn't have to be super fast to be fun. Miatas are fun cars but they don't have massive HP or amazing 0-60. What sold me on the car is the drive and the sound. I test drove a friend's 911 convertible and bought this car 2 weeks later. The LC is just a more special car.
It was one of your best reviews, evry single video makes me feel like eventually theres going to sometime when everyone finds out about you and start unsubscribing to any other car reviewers channel. I really dont watch anything else related to cars here other than your reviews, its truly amazing how you put in this level of honesty, great informations, and your own thoughts and add the music and videography to each and every review you make. 👏👏👏
Amazing production quality on this vid, as some have already said! Blows 99% of things out of the water. Approaching TopGear levels. Keep it up, you just got a new subscriber!
Your recent LFA production brought me here, stellar work on both videos. As an LC500 owner for the last 6 months now, I agree with your assessment of this vehicle. It's an amazing, underrated vehicle that impresses me each and every day. I came from an Audi R8 and I can honestly say I get more positive feedback on this car than the R8 (which I didn't think would happen). Keep up the great work!
@@AS-hu2ek It's apples to oranges, but the Lexus is a better driving car that has much more to offer in my opinion. Note, my R8 was a 2012 6 speed manual with the V8.
You truly make the best car review videos I have ever seen. picture quality, cinematography, content, knowledge....all comes together. and who takes cars on lift to explain how and why things are build like they are - I don’t know anyone beside you. don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers but you have one more now - keep doing what you do 👍🏻
These reviews and the commentary are amazing. They have adjusted my views on certain cars and has allowed me to appreciate other vehicles i did not appreciate before. The amount of attention to detail on these videos are not lost on me and i really appreciate the work that is put into them. Keep up the amazing work!
This is the first production car to wow me in probably 15 years. Sat in one at a local new car show. Its magic. I cannot wait until i afford a used one. Until then, ill be enjoying my SC 400. The interior is breathtaking. Literally.
It's Friday night and everything stopped when the notification came up. Savage freaking geese with the ultimate.... The beautiful, awesinspiring Lexus LC500..... You never disappoint. Great vid and Happy New year!
Best and most in depth review of this car I've seen. Some thoughts: You say it's not for people who want a true luxury (ride) car. That's true. But it's ALSO not for people who want a sports car. Looking at this car, one would expect it to have much more "sports car" like performance, but it doesn't. I own a 2015 C7 Corvette but am seriously looking at replacing it with one of these. Took it for a test drive and was a bit disappointed with the acceleration and lag of the V8 due to the fact the gearing is so tall (1st gear takes you to +40mph) and the fact max horsepower kicks in only near the redline. I kept stomping on it and having to wait a beat for it to really get moving. On the flip side, I *LOVE* the look and fit and finish of this car. It looks like a freaking spaceship (especially in Atomic Silver). So I figure if I want to buy one I'll have to adjust my performance expectations. I would actually like a bit of a smoother ride than I get in my Corvette - I just wish the gear changes were closer together and that it had more of that "push you back into your seat" acceleration.
SavageGeese reviews are on another level. No other auto channel, could I sit for 40+minutes. This one I'm glued to the screen. The knowledge and research done here on these reviews is unprecedented. I learn more about a vehicle here than I do anywhere else.
I've never seen reviews more in depth and objective than yours. You bring up the best and the worst of cars without bending to popular pressure. Thank you.
I have bashed Lexus on other videos so i'm not a fan, but this car is a seriously sick toy! My hats off to the engineers who pulled this off...just a stunning machine!
@@savagegeese Oh I can't wait!! I am a HUGE fan of your content and literally overdosed on all of your LC content particularly before I purchased mine last week. Thanks for the heads up :)
I have a '16 IS350 FSport in ultra-sonic blue. I'm biased, but I think your photography of the Lexus products are your best work! I drove the LC500 at a recent Lexus Drive event and your review is spot on. I love your reviews...keep them coming!
These reviews are great... literally 100000% more information than any other 'reviews'. You actually look at how the car is engineered... meanwhile other car reviewers are just trying to fit a 2l water bottle in the door pockets.
This has to be one of the best/highest quality video review I’ve ever seen for a car. I’m surprised Amazon’s The Grand Tour hasn’t offered you a contract yet! Hopefully you can do a similar video for the Lexus LS500 w/ exec package as I plan to get one after we get our car settlement in the next year or two.
Fantastic review!! Thank you! I just picked up a 2021 LC500 Convertible, and now I know I made the right decision. Not that I doubted that before, but this video just reinforced my decision. This is such a great car. It’s exactly what I wanted. A Luxury Sport GT Convertible which is unique and rare. I love every minute I drive it. Yes, I agree that that the infotainment system is cumbersome, and they really should have figured out a way to make it much better, while keeping the interior looking unique, clean, and classy. Also, why couldn’t they add a front facing camera? That would’ve been very simple, and it is much needed. I really can’t understand why they wouldn’t add that to a $100K+ car. I feel I need to keep this car for a very long time, because very soon, a naturally aspirated 5L-V8 engine, will be a thing of the past. Thanks again for the great and honest feedback.
I will have this car very soon! I don't quite understand your pure hatred for the infotainment. Sure, it can be updated/improved, but as a daily driver of Lexus, it does what it needs to flawlessly: plays my phone music/bluetooth/basic functions no problem :)
It's a lot of wasted space and a ton of design went into making something that is mediocre at best you literally don't need a giant screen for all the basic things you're talking about let alone a clumsy touchpad that makes the center console area much more Awkward to use.
Savagegeese knows this tech better than 99.9 % of us. He knows how easy these company’s could improve on the info and it frustrates him deeply. And it should bother us all but most don’t know better
As a fellow youtuber, I can appreciate your skill in making this video. The cynical point of view and the way you expressed what you didn't like really added to the credibility of your positive reports on this car. Great work.

Get your tractor and you will be looking more masculine 🤣
Frank Martin some people are meant to drive trucks and some people with class drive a car like the lc500
why do we need to define car design as masculine, feminine, womanly, etc, etc...? is it really a necessary thing to label cars that way? I simply can’t understand why so many people say when it’s curvy it’s feminine, when it’s squarely then that’s masculine. I feel those are pretty boring and stupid characterizations.
Bradley Comm ppl will always compare there’s nothing u can do abt it deal with it
They were talking about the new platform called GA-L, Global Architecture Luxury, as in gal, it’s a joke for Christ sake.
Agreed. Also if you want to see more car reviews with awesome cinematograpgy check out Carfection
I watched this video 3 years ago, I just got the car today, THANK YOU best purchase decision ever !
Every time I go get my Lexus serviced at DCH Lexus of Santa Barbara and Lexus of Woodland Hills, I always sit inside the various LC500s they have. Finally I took one for a test drive and I fell in love with it. I have to have one...eventually

savagegeese to 1M by 2021 or bust
I have seen this car twice and it looks both striking and great. First I saw it at the SF car show, and most recently in the "wild" when I was visiting Las Vegas, and it blew me away.
It is a beautiful looking car. I saw one in the "wild" painted in gold and it was striking. If i had the money i would buy it no doubt

Toyota4Life I wouldn't say a very long time. Anxious to see the supposed TT V8.
meh. rather have the new nsx or wait for the supra.
the 21" wheels are gross. it's trying WAY too hard to look like a teenager's idea of "masculine".
shaft9000 the LC500 received 5 times more praise then the NSX.
MrCarGuy20 the only car IMO that was this good was the LFA and long before that the iconic Toyota 2000gt.
Front Grill is still for me is tough to swallow. I just really miss the Z30 Soarer I still feel is the best design Lexus had.
This is the Real "New Supra". Original, actual Toyota design. Future Classic...
Not really lol
If you put the climate control on concierge it controls the ventilated and heated seats and the heated steering wheel by itself. No need for switches
@@insooleedat1asiandude Yeah really, go look at the used market no depreciation no turbos Japanese reliability. If you ever see one in person they are head turners.
Not at all. Completely different level
This and the LFA are my dream cars! Great review! All my family members have a Lexus and I've owned a SC300 for 10 yrs and absolutely love the brand.
I drove in this car and it’s so fun. It was my first sports car I’ve drove in but still crazy fun
243wayne1 I have the JDM version ( Soarer ) of your car in Dallas TX 👍🇬🇧
This car still surprises me after all this time. Lexus really created an ageless car. 🔥🔥🔥
this has to be the best (neutral) car review I've ever seen. the production quality is off the charts and the tester as well as his teams attention to detail is so refreshing.
Finally a car reviewer that talks in normal speed and like a normal person, good video Nice record and good image and sound quality! Well done
Dude. Your videos are next level. Love watching your reviews
Great to revisit this vid knowing the Goose finally got one...
Seriously debating on trading my GSF for this beauty...😬
Do it
Don't the GSF is the same and its better cause more seats.
Definitely do it
In emperor Palpatine's voice: dew it!!!
Probably should
This is the original concept design responsible for the current Lexus look. Love it!
I brought an LC500 because of you Goose. Thank you.
its a Toyota. You can program the reverse beep off at a dealer.
Arto Kiiskinen I think he had the door open.
Arto Kiiskinen, what Toyota is it?
I concur, I own an LC 500 and I had the reverse chime programmed at the dealer before delivery. One beep and it stops.

I'm actually cross shopping the two. Which do you like driving more?
@@AS-hu2ek It's apples to oranges, but the Lexus is a better driving car that has much more to offer in my opinion. Note, my R8 was a 2012 6 speed manual with the V8.

Excellent video!!
It's Friday night and everything stopped when the notification came up. Savage freaking geese with the ultimate.... The beautiful, awesinspiring Lexus LC500..... You never disappoint. Great vid and Happy New year!
Best and most in depth review of this car I've seen. Some thoughts:
You say it's not for people who want a true luxury (ride) car.
@@trp2413 In the end I went with a C8. VERY happy with my decision.
@@vicholtreman1405 fuck yeah c8 is sexy as hell lol
I’ve bought an LC500 Sport here in the UK and having watched many TH-cam reviews on the car this is by far the most informative
SavageGeese reviews are on another level. No other auto channel, could I sit for 40+minutes. This one I'm glued to the screen. The knowledge and research done here on these reviews is unprecedented.
I learn more about a vehicle here than I do anywhere else.
Dude, you must really like this car, (I know I sure as hell do) cause you went all out on production on this vid. Well done! Keep up the great work.
You can hack the little reverse chime thing so it just keeps once when you put it in reverse

These reviews are great... literally 100000% more information than any other 'reviews'. You actually look at how the car is engineered... meanwhile other car reviewers are just trying to fit a 2l water bottle in the door pockets.

Hopefully you can do a similar video for the Lexus LS500 w/ exec package as I plan to get one after we get our car settlement in the next year or two.

I've been waiting your review of this car so badly! Thumps up even before I watch it.
Raphael Sato I see you’ve edited this comment....
This man is a god. Needs more viewers all other big car reviewers seems like they know nothing.
I saw one of these parked outside a Ruth's Chris, and I did a triple-take. It is absolutely gorgeous in-person.
what color was it?
I will have this car very soon! I don't quite understand your pure hatred for the infotainment. Sure, it can be updated/improved, but as a daily driver of Lexus, it does what it needs to flawlessly: plays my phone music/bluetooth/basic functions no problem :)
It's a lot of wasted space and a ton of design went into making something that is mediocre at best you literally don't need a giant screen for all the basic things you're talking about let alone a clumsy touchpad that makes the center console area much more Awkward to use.
@@savagegeese for that price range i think s class infotainment is best in its class
