" the Lfa is still one of the most desirable cars ive driven" Chris harris "If i had to choose 1 car I would take a dark blue Lfa" Jeremey clarkson. What a car
I think this review outlines something that people who aren't real car people fail to grasp. It's not JUST about the numbers. Sometimes a car that is easy to drive is more FUN than a car that is hard to drive. There is nothing fun about driving a car that is constantly trying to kill you.
@Michael Shabo Yeah. "Hairy" cars are "fun", when you already have other safer cars to drive and work your way up to. However, if it's your only sports car, sports sedan; maybe not so much!? Lol
Yes, there is. It's one of the many things that made me pick the M5 over the GS. Another big factor, for someone that hates flappy paddles (and the M's are way better, both in looks and feel, than the GS'), it's that the shifter is right: pull to upshift, push to downshift.
Lexus was the first luxury car I ever owned, I bought a 2011 ES 350 in 2015 with 29,000 miles. I only took it in for regular maintenance. I traded in for a 2015 GS 350 F-Sport with 48,000 miles last December. Granted I don't drive this car that often (I drive a VW Passat as my everyday car) but man when I do drive it, I fall in love with Lexus all over again!
I agree that he's very good and I enjoy his reviews. You should really try out Savagegeese as well. Not to take the place of Chris, but the Savagegeese guys are really good.
Not Harry Metcalfe, Henry Catchpole, Tiff Needell, Jeremy Clarkson, Jay Leno, Dan Prosser, James May, Richard Hammond, Steve Sutcliffe, Matt Farah, Jethro Bovingdon? Are you even a car enthusiast?
shashank Reddy they deserve all the credit really evolving from what they were originally. It's a beautiful thing, reliable and fun and fast? Sign me up!
The Lexus is a real-world car. Every Lexus is built exactly like that, for the real world, yet done in a way that looks, feels, sounds and goes well. My 2000 LS430 is well clear of the 2 ton mark yet its a hoot to drive, and even on 20s and lowered suspension, it still drives like a magic carpet. Plus you know you're getting Toyota reliability when you buy a Lexus, and in 10 years, a GSF will still be ticking along quite happily while an F10 M5 will be having hernias left right and centre when a sensor decides to take a dump
The whole purpose of the M5 is to have a real world every day use car that also performs well. I don't see how it's not a very nice sedan besides having that much power. Not saying the Lexus isn't of course.
@Reflex Photography NZ Haha So true man! I am coming from a 450hp 535xi, and just bought a '16 Lexus GSF. Needless to say, I'm VERY happy with the GSF over the BMW. The BMW just turned over 100k miles and it was starting to ding me left and right with issues constantly! Glad that I got the Lexus, bc that won't be a problem anymore! =D
It is important to note that for 2017 Lexus added adaptive dampers because there were some complaints the ride is too stiff during normal driving. The GS F doesn't really compare with other cars, it is an anomaly.
That's what I said. The market for each of these cars is very different. Let's get real, BMW does not build practical cars for people who live in the real world.
Want the BMW to last longer? Change out the motor oil at correct intervals. Extended life motor oil lasts 10k miles. Lexus recommends changing every 10k miles. BMW recommends every 15k miles. Wonder why BMW's break more often? You're driving unprotected.
How many M5 owners will take their precious in a racetrack? How many of them can actually drive it at its full potential? The "less is more" approach of Lexus is better suited for enthusiasts who don't have the expertise to chris-harris the shit out of every car on any environment.
carlmanu you've been to race track? I brought mine there, also I see other m5 there. The Lexus really is ugly and slow. I raced one back there, dude scared to shit after a corner trying to catch up. lol
Han Li I've done some track days myself but I don't own either one of these cars and I haven't seen too many BMW nor Lexus being tracked here in the states but perhaps your experience has been different. My point is that Lexus has the more viable approach as a daily driver for the average enthusiast. The M5 is without a doubt the faster car out of the two, if you know what you're doing.
One thing i can say Carmanu is that i don't think Han Li is speaking the truth in regards to owning A 2017 M5. Apparently it is factual that you don't know anything about prudently evaluating an automobile. Here are the key information stated by the Top Gear representative in regards to the Lexus: (1) The driving position is absolutely spot on(6:18 to 6:23). (2) It also has the best seats that i has driven in the last five years (6:24 to 6:35). (3) The normally aspirated engine is excellent (6:40 to 7:16) and (8:53 to 9:13). (4) The suspension in regards to ride and handling is much better than the BMW (8:11 to 8:29). (5) The steering is much better, he also feel much more confident when turning into a corner (8:29 to 8:44) . (7) Visibility is much better (8:45 to 8:52). (8) It drives better than the BMW even when the traction control is off which means the balance of the vehicle is spot on (9:27 to 10:01). (9) Braking is excellent (9:53 to 9:56). Only thing this BMW has against this vehicle is just the power which is a disadvantage to the car itself.
I would argue that most of them probably do use the power for going fast regularly. But you are right, most of them probably don't really drive sporty anywhere outside of motorways.
These people always wanting speed speed speed...And when it breaks down, it lives longer in the car repair shop. Lexus is quality, reliability and longevity.
Everyone makes a choice every now and then. You and I walk into a bar, you choose a Heineken and I get a Martini. People who buy a BMW, choose it because it's fun to drive. And they have become more reliable now despite being more sophisticated. Both companies have different philosophy. One pushes the boundaries of engineering the other has a more conservative approach.
The modern German cars are notorious for being bland and boring. They may be fast, but they are not fun cars. They have removed everything from the driving experience.
M5 is probably a better daily tho: dont get me wrong the GS F is a great car, and probably more reliable than the bummer, but the interior quality, fuel consumption and ride quality is all better on the m5.
@@aadi8568 That’s a good point. People who buy an M5 don’t care about reliability anyways. I was in the market for a compact luxury daily back then and I chose a BMW 335i over a Lexus, it felt more enthusiastic to drive. Reliability wasn’t that bad either. I drove it cross country on holidays often and only the water pump and blower fan failed on it.
Well technically the M5 is the performance version of the 5 series...and the GS-F is the performance version of the GS...so the review should have been about performance in the first place...
Harpreet Singh considering these are not full on track cars and it's something that fits a family it shouldn't be just about more power and more to but how it all works together.
Lexus has the happiest customers around the world because of their build quality an the excellence of their service. If I had the money and should buy a car for every day use it would surely be the lexus. And the looks have actually grown on me a little bit so it doesn't look that bad anymore
Had an 01 IS300 for several years that I loved. It wasn't the fastest car ever, but I have never owned a more reliable vehicle. I never once worried about getting where I was going, and when I sold it on at 180k miles it had zero interior rattles, no loose exterior pieces and the engine and transmission performed like new. The two times it had to go in for a major service (ball joints and timing belt) I actually genuinely enjoyed my time at the dealer. No one does a dealer experience better. Lexus vehicles arent the most exciting on the road, but they are legitimately great to live with. You wouldnt regret saving up to buy one.
Random12231 To be honest lexus has never made the fastest cars when you compare them to rivals. But the quality of their products are amazing and usually their cars are still great to drive. And like you said when you took it for repairs the dealers are actually intrested on servicing you. It's an experience you can't get with any other brand and that's something great.
Tried to do the timing belt myself. Had all the parts, but for the life of me could not break the crank pulley nut loose. Even tried the starter bump trick (big ass cheater bar attached to the crank pulley nut, other end of the cheater on the ground). Worked like a charm on my old Subaru, but on the IS it was actually pushing the car up off the ground with the cheater. That SOB was stuck. Had to admit defeat, put it back together and take it to the dealer. No damn clue how they got that thing loose.
Why, it's still there, just called 'the Grand Tour'. Same boring overly-scripted stuff. I actually don't like the scripted stuff in Top Gear either, but at least it's not as terrible as it is in The Gran Tour (and indeed the old Top Gear).
The fact that they need to put Chris Harris' name onto the title of the video (to get people to watch) shows that this isn't Top Gear, this is Chris Harris on cars.
You probably wont read this Chris - I bought a ‘16 GSF and had the exact reaction you did. First impressions, “a bit shit”, but after 4 months of ownership, I adore it. Too right about VTEC boys loving the engine - I have an AP1 S2000 for the weekend and it’s the dream duo as far as I’m concerned!
The biggest thing that caught my eye with the gs f is that it has a character, and the biggest detail which is so small which, imo, is the thing i love, is thay it has an analog clock in the middle, what class that car has dead set
Dont get ahead of yourself here. Calm down. Old Top Gear was the benchmark every other motor journalist tried to look up to. No wonder Chris is brilliant in his own way but that cant undermine the enthusiasm old Top Gear has given to its fans.
Tirah5 I appreciate this response, you are probably right. Without Top Gear we might not have seen /Drive and then we might not have the Chris Harris we know today. But I do stand by my point, it's just a shame how childish the internet is.
Old Top gear in my opinion was just entertainment for non car guys. I remember being around guys who really weren't into cars loving top gear and this is what was great about it. But I felt like I was watching car a kids show. People used to ask me how come you don't watch it your a car guy. I can't say much about this guy except from this video and I like his review.
I have seen this video for at least 10 times and together with SavageGeese V8 Redemption video, these two mainly convinced me that GS F is the greatest daily supersedan to own and possibly ever created. I bought it and never ever looked back :-) Love it. The BMW M5 is superb, I have huge respect for it but GS F is just better for me. And original, reliable... You should really try and be amazed after longer drive in it. That sound, feel and also practical living with it (of course sedan somlimits are there but 2 kids with ease ;-) ). I had to move from IS F because the 2nd child. My wife is tolerant so I was able to.go into another crazy daily car ;-). Surprised how easy you can live with the GS F though.
I had an F10 M5 for about a year. It is a lovely car and is ridiculously fast. But it was just boring. The speed it so instant that you are way beyond the speed limit before you've enjoyed the acceleration. The traction was terrible even in the dry due to the huge torque so low in the rev range. It really made me appreciate a lower powered NA engine.
@@bwmim9709 I felt the same way about my Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Well perhaps not bored exactly, more frustrated, as it got to speed soo quick and when you start to enjoy it, your already at the legal limit. Often a car you can drive at 90% of its capacity, feels more fun than one you can drive at 30% .
Lexus is a more pure car, it's more of a traditional V8 sports sedan. In Australia at least a lot cheaper too it's more the price of a of a 540i M Sport than an M5. The other thing is if you want to pick up a 5-10 year old GS F down the track, it's probably a viable option. A used M5 with it's ultra sophisticated electronics, twin turbo and DCT, means it's probably going to be off limits for most used car buyers who don't want to (or a able to) remortgage their homes for servicing and repairs.
@@shadmansudipto7287 i wanted to say that they perfected making ''traditional V8 sports sedans'' Way before LEXUS, and lexus stole so much from BMW even the design ffs... L shaped tail lights seriously ? and LED light contours on modern cars.... thanks to E39

I liked the review, and especially the point between "great race track" cars and "everyday performance" cars. A lot of people look only at race track performance without realizing open roads aren't ideal tracks. Great review again with useful insight!
I've owned Lexus and BMW's. Give it 5 years and the BMW cabin will be falling apart. The lexus will still look pristine afte 5 years and even 10. And thats tha cabin only. BMW's are ultimate driving machines for the first 5 years, after that they will be the ultimate headache.
I have a 2013 M5 and no matter how much I take care of it runs into so many issues, not to mention the interior starting to degrade from its cheap materials. I'm looking to trade it in for the GSF.
the GS has aged better, it sounds better, its more reliable and its the last of the naturally aspirated rwd big saloon on the market SO END OF CONVERSATION, BUY THE LEXUS!
My observation here is that we are drowning in BMW fan boys. There are a plethora of channels explaining BMW’s inability to keep oil in their engines and travel further than 80-100,000 miles. I’d far rather see a review of two 4-year old cars. A BMW and Lexus. The BMW is beautiful new but allegedly hateful after 3 year....IMHO.
I have never driven a 600 hp car, but I drive a 500 hp, rear wheel car every day, and I could use some more power. But agreed, 4 wheel drive may be needed to put down 600 hp, I have no idea of knowing this for sure tho. M5 and my SL55 cars are built for autobahn, English country roads are best left to MX5 and maybe Morgans, there is nothing to do there with 500 or 600 hp. But in ice and slush? lol. Even in the rain, I don't go faster than 130 kmh on straight road, because the wider the rear tires, the worse the my 500 bhp rear wheel drive gets in slippery conditions. But this road in Harris' video, in snow and ice? What next, take F1 car there, and then complain the car has too much power? Cars have their place, F1 belongs to perfect surface race track because it has 800 hp. The review is so useless. Take the cars to Berlin, and drive to Munchen, and then drive it to Rome, then tell which is better. English LOVE their country roads, I get that, but to bitch that M5 isn't all that great for these roads is idiotic. Again, take these cars to bahn, where they belong!
I have an E39 M5 and I have to agree, I really think I'd rather have the Lexus. If it were a manual, it'd be the superior car hands down in my opinion. Granted the new M5 has AWD, but I have to agree that the F10 is just too much of a handful in conditions like those.
BMW undoubtedly is probably the better drive, by a huge amount I don't think so. Lexus wouldn't feel that much off. However my personal experience with some friends with BMW's and one friend in particular has bought a few BMW's over time diesel and petrol. Both had issues. You could argue lack of maintenance. However, if he took my Lexus is250 and just changed the oil once and didn't bother servicing for a couple of years it will start and act faultless. If I was rich I'd buy the BMW. If I had my own garage and could service my own cars I'd take a BMW maybe. Lexus cars are fantastic though. The V6 engine, smooth and reliable. If I'm not gonna be rich anytime soon and I want safety I'm sticking with Lexus. I'll try the RX one day
Yup, I've got a 12 year old GS460 - it still looks and feels as good as when it was new - no drop in performance, no oil leaks, no mysterious clouds emerging from the tailpipes - every single thing on it still works, everything looks and feels amazing still. Equivalent BMW would be a 550i - which after 12 years is a ticking time bomb if it hasn't already had serious engine and electrical issues that would write the car off mechanically. BMW don't build anything to last anymore - for Lexus, it's part of the DNA of the brand.
@@ovejeromd GS F sport isn’t the same as a GS F. Please don’t debate this. The F sport is a package that one could get on the GS 350 etc. The GS F was only available through model years 16-20. And only the 2016 had fixed dampers. 17+ had AVS.

The Lexus has a Torque Converter "Auto".... So it shifts in .5 of a second not .000001 of a second. OH MY! but guess what, at 100,000kms... It still works perfectly, at 200,000kms... It works perfectly... I LOVE BMW and have a E39 M5... I have also had a IS350 Lexus which I loathed, but I daresay if you are the one buying them both. The Lexus will be loved and last forever, The SECOND that warranty on the BMW runs out, the DST gearbox will blow up... and they DO NOT fix them, only replace for about as much as the car will be worth at that point... Just some advice from someone who actually knows a bit about both manufacturers "as of late"... By no means am I an intellectual.
Lexus expecially F Sport badged ones... Are one of the last vehicles made with passion and love, made for a LONG time and many owners... These cars will hit 200,000kms and last decades... Sadly all my fave Euro brands are falling into the trap of making extremely impressive vehicles... That last 3 years then collapse and pieces of shit. Gone are the days the middle class man can own a second hand Euro top end vehicle, most of em dont work.
Bullshit. Here in Europe European cars from the last 10-15 years are still a daily sight. My 2007 BMW has been flawless. 2007 BMW. It's almost 2018 now and it's still working perfectly fine despite daily abuse on the Autobahn. Lexus is overrated.

What an hones review man you are my hero. I know people will hate you because you said that Lexus is better than M5 haha but that is reality. Too much power in M5 and it is useless for everyday driving.
Modern auto journalism is disturbing, in that the reporters don't spend much time with the cars. IIRC, prior to the internet revolution of the early 2000s, car mags used to keep each car for about a month. Their whole staffs (of 6-8 'editors') sampled each one, often taking them home, taking them on trips, keeping them for days (or even weeks) at a time, and so on. Apparently, with today's instant communication comes incredible time pressure on reporting, so the reporters rarely spend enough time in a car to become really familiar with it. Given the complexity of a car, especially one with modern control interfaces and menu options, that's a real problem. It's great that Chris discovered the subtle goodness of this Lexus as a driver's car, and he did a great review, and that's why we love him. With sufficient time to learn using its interfaces, his complaints about them would probably fade into the past. But, a car company that dares to do something either subtle *_or_* bold faces a harsh reality -- the journalists likely won't spend near enough time to accurately critique the result. BTW, there is probably a 5-series variant that stacks up very nicely against the GS-F, with comparable power and chassis tuning. How many people will pass both of them by, based on numbers, ludicrous half-day track testing, or short blasts in other extraordinary circumstances?
I actually really respect Lexus for keeping the NA engines alive. And I know it’s not practical and I know I wouldn’t sell BUT, I’d own one tomorrow if it had a manual
& the great thing is, unlike the old V8 BMW's you can currently pick up for next to nothing because if they haven't already started to experience critical engine failure, they soon will, the Lexus V8 will keep going for decades to come.
@@Jeff.with.a_G Yeah, and in the current climate, and with N/A V8's really no longer being a thing manufacturers can continue to produce, I really can't see these kinds of cars doing anything but appreciate. Harris nails the GS's greatest virtue. It is simply a pleasure to drive. If BMW is the ultimate driving machine, the Lexus may just be the ultimate in driving pleasure. I don't have the words to describe this quality. It's just something you have to experience, and for at least an hour or two. GS350, GS F Sport or GS F, they all drive really, really well. Credit the GS platform.
I own an ISF and went on a cruise with an M4, E60 M5 and an S7 last week in identical conditions to this. Can confirm that the M4 driver was not having fun and wasn't particularly fast. He admitted nearly crashing it a few times but the power delivery is just too spiky. He really wasn't having fun. I was all over the back of him and not once did I feel that the car was going to bite me. The ISF is awesome.
My GS Lexus F sport is a true pleasure to drive. Mine is hybrid V6 so it's extremely smooth and powerful. The downside is the extra weight. Not so nimble on mountain roads, excellent on a road trip. Gotta respect the physical limits of the extra weight.
Lexus basically built a better quality more reliable E39 M5. While BMW built a loud and vulgar German muscle car : overweight, over-expensive, over-powered and good only in a straight line.
Unfortunately all the Germans have gone down that route - all their performance mid size sedans are just brutal now. I think they would probably handle right well but they seem to be too much for real conditions.
natnut2008 the rs6 kills the m5 with just a blat from its exhaust, it makes you smile - BMW got the exhaust epically wrong with their in car speaker nonsense #epicfail.. for an engineering firm that's basically admitting failure from the getgo.
+Aaaal ! My guess is that if you want an everyday big saloon car.. you don't really need an M5... several other less powerful options are available for that chassis! Haha..
David The Great I really like it. I watched the first season of Grand tour and hated it. After season 17 top gear went down really fast. imo season 3-15 are the best.
The car enthusiasts completely leave out the differences in market buyers each of these cars have. Not at all the same market of buyers. The problem with these comparisons is these two cars are not that comparable. They are designed for a completely different crowd of buyers.
closedcl8 Moral of the story, if you want an M5 (a fast, and fun to drive sedan), look for one of the previous generations of M5. The F10 has better power, but in every other area of driving, the newer car is just a massive disappointment.

I have a GS F. It's great as a daily driver, but the only thing I don't like about it is the low end torque. Yeah.

For the Looks LEXUS from quality my vote is still LEXUS.. 😎😍
Lexus 🔥💪
Spoken like a true poor person lmao

The BMW gonna last 5 years while the Lexus gonna last 15 years lmao
I dont even think the bmw will last 5 years LOL
Want the BMW to last longer? Change out the motor oil at correct intervals. Extended life motor oil lasts 10k miles. Lexus recommends changing every 10k miles. BMW recommends every 15k miles. Wonder why BMW's break more often? You're driving unprotected.
@@DrTommyDDS even then a BMW will never last as long

But you are right, most of them probably don't really drive sporty anywhere outside of motorways.
carlmanu to be honest I've never see Lexus on track too..

You and I walk into a bar, you choose a Heineken and I get a Martini. People who buy a BMW, choose it because it's fun to drive.
Random12231 haha my experience exactly. 02 IS300 for six years now. Ball joints and timing belt (which I did myself.)
No damn clue how they got that thing loose.
nobody buys lexus in the world except for americans...

Elmojito1000 planting 600hp on rwd cars on roads like these are indeed tricky, you need some very clever engineering to get past that
also, driving on ice, and then complaining about a sports car having too much power seems weird.
valgehiir tbf, in this case its true, the m5 does have too much power, even in perfect conditions
Ah, so I can get it for cheaper at the BMW dealer then?
Btw, his expectations for the new M5 are in the same line: 9:30
Always thought the GS-F was sharp looking and I guess it's just as good at driving. 👍
I have an E39 M5 and I have to agree, I really think I'd rather have the Lexus. If it were a manual, it'd be the superior car hands down in my opinion. Granted the new M5 has AWD, but I have to agree that the F10 is just too much of a handful in conditions like those.
The lack of a manual is my only gripe with these. If it had one, there would be no other choice.
BMW don't build anything to last anymore - for Lexus, it's part of the DNA of the brand.
the noise at 3,500 is the additional air intake opening allowing more air into the engine - same as on my ISF

The Lexus definitely sounds better.
And I know it’s not practical and I know I wouldn’t sell BUT, I’d own one tomorrow if it had a manual
me too gotta have the manual but 250 to 275 is plenty of hp AND prefer a lighter auto...
New Top gear should hire Tiff needle and Jason Plato.
I’m waiting for the GSF to depreciate to low to mid 30s. Nothing like an old school 5 L V8 Japanese saloon.
& the great thing is, unlike the old V8 BMW's you can currently pick up for next to nothing because if they haven't already started to experience critical engine failure, they soon will, the Lexus V8 will keep going for decades to come.
That’s gonna be a long wait, lol. Hell, old isf are going for nearly 30k still
@@Jeff.with.a_G Yeah, and in the current climate, and with N/A V8's really no longer being a thing manufacturers can continue to produce, I really can't see these kinds of cars doing anything but appreciate. Still, things might change once Covid is on the retreat, and people have vacations to spend their money on again. Mine's just the 4.6 litre V8, but damn, it's a nice engine!
@@Jeff.with.a_G all I have is time.
@@Beer_Dad1975 That's a rare gem right there..
i only have one of the last manual Chevy SS. If i had the money id have a GSF too. What an amzing car.
It’s a mad cabin for a completely mad car.
Chris Harris said it best.
As a GS F owner it’s the best car I’ve ever had. Although I’ve only ever had Lexus lol 🤷♂️
Man I cant find a clean one under 50k. How has the experience been. What is maintenance and mpg costing you. Grats on the dream car. If I can daily one and track it for fun for like 300k miles. Perfect
@@hesko125 I've only put about 5k miles on it so far. Just installed the RR Racing supercharger kit on it as well. Not sure on the maintenance front yet. Just haven't put that many miles on it. Just oil change so far
@@joshuarich4714 9k rr is epic. What kind of mpg when your easy on it
@@hesko125 I will check it tonight. I really don't pay attention. I drive a 99 GS 400 as my daily so I'm really not sure.
Hesko 1 I’m getting about 12 mpg at the moment. Had to do some test pulls with the new supercharger set up. It’s nutty. 😂
Lexus all the way Harris Love that car.
Stupid fanboy.
Compulsory Speech STFU
The engine in that Lexus 🤤
Yamaha V8. Need I say more?
Indeed Lexus is the type of cars with reliability and worryfree but BMWs are nice but constant service is a headache
Time for the xdrive M5. That much power needs AWD.
TheViewFromUpHere The new M5 will have Xdrive
ShoryukenDatAzz I know. Can't wait. What has taken BMW so long?
Germans take their time when they engineer their cars. The current VW Jetta has been the same since 2010.
BMW has had xdrive for a long time but unlike Audi with their S and RS models there are no xdrive M models. Very strange.
TheViewFromUpHere New M5 will have Xdrive, going to be great!
Buy a Lexus you’ll spend extra 5k on cool upgrades. Buy a bmw you’ll spend extra 5k to keep it on the road.
The ISF is awesome.
вы абсолютно правы, надежность это бонус. Главное достоинство это управление.
My GS Lexus F sport is a true pleasure to drive. Mine is hybrid V6 so it's extremely smooth and powerful. The downside is the extra weight. Not so nimble on mountain roads, excellent on a road trip. Gotta respect the physical limits of the extra weight.
Have a GSF and I absolutely love it!
infinblck my condolences to owning such an ugly, bloated vehicle.
J0J0McM0M0 hahaha typical response of another peasant hating on yt, you win!
Your review was excellent. You actually know what you’re talking about. I own a gsf. I love my gs
Watching this, I had to pause and go drive my GS350. That’s the kind of ownership I sought out. 🤫
I prefer the way the Lexus looks or design
Lexus for ever
The Lexus GSF is a better car. All over it’s 1 second. Slower but still a better car for your money and reliable and quality and resale value
Can't wait for the M8 review boiz
Chris is so much more natural in these videos compared to the TV program.
thank you BBC for giving Chris Harris both major top gear hosting position and letting him continue to do what he does better than anyone else
😎🔥GSF🇯🇵😍
Lexus basically built a better quality more reliable E39 M5. While BMW built a loud and vulgar German muscle car : overweight, over-expensive, over-powered and good only in a straight line.
natnut2008 Think you got that backwards.
Unfortunately all the Germans have gone down that route - all their performance mid size sedans are just brutal now. I think they would probably handle right well but they seem to be too much for real conditions.
natnut2008 the rs6 kills the m5 with just a blat from its exhaust, it makes you smile - BMW got the exhaust epically wrong with their in car speaker nonsense #epicfail.. for an engineering firm that's basically admitting failure from the getgo.
ironman tooltime that is because of the European emission regulations
+Aaaal ! My guess is that if you want an everyday big saloon car.. you don't really need an M5... several other less powerful options are available for that chassis! Haha..
I love the new Top Gear, towards the end of the Old Top Gear series it turn into some stupid non car TV show. This is perfect.
David The Great I really like it. I watched the first season of Grand tour and hated it. After season 17 top gear went down really fast. imo season 3-15 are the best.
Love how Chris reviews the interior... More of that please! #InteriorLivesMatter
M5 is a monster but as a bmw ex-owner its always painful to keep it draining your pocket .. GSF, ISF, and RCF will be the best of the best options
The car enthusiasts completely leave out the differences in market buyers each of these cars have. Not at all the same market of buyers. The problem with these comparisons is these two cars are not that comparable. They are designed for a completely different crowd of buyers.
BMW owners know the name of their mechanic
Lexus owners “who?”
Moral of the story: if you want an M5, get a base F10 M5.
closedcl8 Moral of the story, if you want an M5 (a fast, and fun to drive sedan), look for one of the previous generations of M5. The F10 has better power, but in every other area of driving, the newer car is just a massive disappointment.
MidEnginedSedan Are you dumb?
Moral of the story: if you want an M5, get the GSF or the E39 M5.
Arman_dleg Dumb is the term for people who think modern BMWs are worthy of the reputation they built during the previous decades.
MidEnginedSedan What did you expect from the F10? It was just trying to keep up with the modern world's demand and the regulations fgs... And who said the F10 M5 was not fun to drive?
People, please stop complaining how the old Top Gear was better. You are frustrated, we get it already.
God, 10 years old kids are not that whiny... Go watch the Grand Tour and leave us to enjoy Chris Harris and his fantastic pieces.
h i k k u s u b e i you silly person you, that's not how humans work.
D1visor or TH-cam comment sections lol
h i k k u s u b e i I like new Top Gear, the only real issue was Chris Evans who has luckily left. It's now more of how it was, the reviews are more factual with a side of comedy whereas old Top Gear was the other way around. I love both of them but for different reasons. People need to get over the fact that it has changed
You are not a real car enthusiast if your complaining about free auto TV show. I dont care how bad is it, free car show is a free car show.
Wade H it's not free. It's on BBC and you have to pay for the channel every year
I always look forward to hearing Chris' candid "tell it like it is" perspective. Keep it up.
I have a GS F. It's great as a daily driver, but the only thing I don't like about it is the low end torque. You can't feel the car pushing until it is in high revs, but by that time, you need to slow down to avoid a ticket. Not as satisfying most of the time... I regret not getting a car with a turbo.
martin zhao do you consider the gs f impractical? Because you’d never be able able to really enjoy it to it’s full potential ?
Nah, you will regret not having a car that likes to review when you have a turbo. Believe me I have had turbos and NA cars and I miss the NA cars so much more than the turbos.
