    All I hear nowadays is horsepower, sports feel, performance, etc. What percentage of our daily commute is spent on each? How often can the performance of a car be explored without the risk of receiving a ticket, going to jail, or losing licence? Reliability and resale value of cars are two of the most important things that almost every car journalist fails to mention. That's where all of the competition come short against the Lexus.

      @stanleetfk3823 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I so agree with you, I guess thats why i drive a Honda Civic😀

    • @afa6361
      @afa6361 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Cars are ultimately meant to take someone from point A to point B. Civic excels at it. A luxury car feels great after a long day at work, but who gives a crap about getting to 60 mph in 4 sec or 3.8 sec??

    • @stanleetfk3823
      @stanleetfk3823 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess its good ppl have options, anyway, Lexus F series totals 2% of their total sales, its not really seen as performance brand. People looking for that go with Audi and Bmw. Thats my guess

    • @evilss
      @evilss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      indeed, almost all journalist never mention reliability and resales against lexus. But i guess people who spent 80+ thousands on cars like this, don't care about them because 80% of the time is a lease.

      ES350 and RX350 are their bread and butter, but I like their LS the most. I own an old one. If you can get your hands on it, go for it. It is the best car ever made in terms of reliability and quality. Built like a tank, but drives like a silk with unmatched reliability.

    So, you're saying that if I buy an E63 AMG, I can get to the grocery store a full second faster? Keep your Cadillac, Mercedes and BMW... I'll take the reliability and resale value of a Toyota product ANY day.

    • @esteemedenergy
      @esteemedenergy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then buy a Camry v6, .5 second slower but even more reliable than a dressed up Toyota.

    • @naveenkrishnamurthy7576

      GetoverYourself agreed. That’s exactly why I want a v6 Camry. It’s quick smooth refined v6 and it’ll be reliable. The new one with 300hp plus that red interior is stunning 😍

    I will buy the Lexus over anything German any day of my life.......The maintenance and running costs of the german cars is ridiculously high. The reliability of the German cars is a huge issue. Lexus/Toyota are usually bulletproof in reliability.

    Lexus wins all categories if we're talking about reliability, durability, and dependability. Yes, the Germans make the most powerful cars but what good is power if u can't use it. I rather have a less powerful car with great reliability/dependability, that's y Lexus/Toyota are the best brand cars in the world.

    I really like your reviews. You go in to a lot of things other reviewers do not. You talk about the competition and how you rank them vs the car you are reviewing. I am definitely subscribing. I wanted to comment about you not mentioning anything about reliability, but you briefly touched up on it at the very end. Having a car with an overall reliability, speed, looks, comfort is what I would shell out the money for if I could actually afford an $80k sports sedan. However, I think the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport is just as good of a performance options IMO vs the GSF for the fraction of the cost. However, I still think the GSF has the best overall look out many of the sedans in its class and outside of it as well. I have always like this body GS design, it is classic and looks amazing.

  • @hockeymann88
    @hockeymann88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am really appreciating this sedan. Even the front is growing on me. This sedan approaches perfect for 99% of performance sedan shoppers. The Lexus dealership experience and reliability is icing on the cake. I guess the price is why I don't see many on the road.
    4.5 sec to 60. How spoiled we have become. Just a short time ago that was a ridiculously fast time for a 4 door sedan. A metric not typically measured but an important one is 50 to 70 mph. I am guessing with the NA power plant and power levels of this car, overtaking on the highway is easy and brisk and very competitive.

    Will always take any F over anything else. Toyota performance wasn't into racing for winning but rather more for learning, which is why i admire toyota for their overengineered engines especially the ones co-developed with Yamaha.

  • @JC130676
    @JC130676 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Germans may have better performance but the Lexus is the better car. Lexus doesn't focus on performance at the expense of almost everything else, their cars are meant to be actually useable in everyday driving and long tours. In short, the Lexus is simply far more sensible. The Germans are bought just to have bragging rights.

    Great review, however, too caught up on 0-60 times. Using a cost vs hp needed equation may have this on top. All about your value equation. This competes well with all of those, including those good comparisons to 550i class. Very unique and natural V8 here.

    I'll bet once you tick the option boxes needed for the best handling version of the 550xi, you will reach if not surpass the GS-F's price. BMW charges an arm and a leg for the most sophisticated suspensions in their big cars, e.g., $3500 for the 5 series dynamic handling package, $4500 for the X5's version of the same, etc.

    I would have thought the obvious comparison would have been the M550 (which to me is a continuation of the older M Sport level, as in it's not the M5) with dynamic handling, but maybe that wasn't available until 2018. To me, that's always been the compromise BMW with most of the M hardware bits for suspension but still having a (somewhat) economical engine for real world experience. (Though I admit city driving pushes it down to 15-16, which really isn't great)

    The electronically controlled torque vectoring differential (or TVD) is the best thing about this car, to be realistic, its engine is an updated version of the last gen IS F, so, instead of a new IS F model, we get the GS F, remember Lexus used to have the GS 460 (V8 with less power), but the biggest problem with this car is its price, seriously, for that kind of money the CTS Vseries hands down, if you want the Lexus by all means buy it, just never try the new gen CTS Vseries or others at the light or anywhere, both are great cars, it’s just that the CTS Vseries really competes with the likes of cars like the BMW M5, it’s like comparing the Cadillac CTS Vsport to a BMW M5, the GS F competes with cars like the 5 Series M550i, CTS Vsport and E-Class AMG E43, , h___ you could probably throw in any naturally aspirated rwd V8 sedan like Chevy SS, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300C, Hyundai Genesis or others

    Despite being a little bit slower compared to 550i or e53, GS F seems to drive better and I definitely appreciate the n.a. V8. As a Lexus, it should be also more reliable than German competitors as confirmed by J.D. Power. However, I don't quite like the exterior design of modern Lexus, and if that's a matter of opinion, I think everyone agrees the interior looks really outdated. I think the Carbon fiber inserts look particularly weird, wood is better for conservative design. The infotainment system also lags behind the competition. Therefore, I think the fair price for GS F should be right about the same as the 550i or e53, and if that was the price, I probably will prefer GS F for better driving engagement and reliability. However, the price of GS F is surprisingly 10k more than 550i or e53. How does one justify the price? Anyone can tell me if that 10k can be saved later by less repair cost? (note the J.D Power reliability rating of 5 series is also very high)

    another car with a different mission - the hellcat charger - i feel warrants having voice in this. while not having the luxury/brand cache as the lexus and it's nearest competitors the car, even by first world standards, is luxurious enough and the joy produced by the 700 hp powertrain can make up for some of its relative deficiencies.
    on the flip side, there is something to be said about the dealership experience at Dodge versus Lexus...

    In my opinion as fan of the lexus, this shape have some German sports feel specialy when drive it on track but a reach to BMW M5 or Mercedes E63 lexus have to work more and more to provide same performance.👋❤

    I would swap out the front GSF seats for the GS350 seats. Very thorough video, thanks!

    When I went to look at this car I loved everything about it except the front seats. Not a big guy by any means 5'10 230 lbs I felt like I was being wedged into that seat as dual lat supports wouldn't loosen up. One has to also keep their knees together tightly to fit in that seat. They made those seats for skinny people. I can fit into every other Lexus vehicle just fine but the G SF is a no-go for me. Why they didn't put the seats from the other vehicles into this one I have no idea but that doesn't make sense. It's as if they wanted to I want to sell this car to people who are 5'10 160 lbs.

    Question for Alex and reviewers. I've heard people stateting this Lexus is over priced around 10K's. Do you think this HAS F is over priced?.

    Sure the cts-v is faster but man it spends more time in the cadillac dealership for repairs.

      Average...not sure about that. I really like that Cadillac has gone for driving fun in their cars these days. But until they get rid of that awful CUE system, I'd never consider buying one. Shame really.

    I don't agree at all! Your analysis has way too many options and your too focused on 0to60. How do you not mention Lexus reliability and straight up better manufacturing practices.
