  • This song has been a favorite of mine for several years since I heard it in church as a little kid. The hymn was originally written by John Brownlie (1856-1925) and was inspired by Greek Orthodox hymnody. Since it's original writing down it's had multiple melodies put to it, this one based on the version I grew up with which uses the melody of "Morning Song" by Elkanah Kelsay Dare (1782-1826) An American composer from New England. Traditionally this song is an Advent song, sung during the 40 days leading up to Christmas, although I have heard it done during Easter since the general sense of "Waiting for Christ" is relevant during both seasons. Overall, I simply love the song so the song will be in both playlists.
    This song will have a full version as well which will include vocals, but I hope this version will tide y'all over till then Merry Christmas!
    Lyrics: (I realize that the font I used may not be legible to some)
    The King shall come when morning dawns and light triumphant breaks,
    When beauty gilds the eastern hills and life to joy awakes-
    Not as of old a little child to bear, and fight, and die,
    But crowned with glory like the sun that lights the morning sky.
    Oh, brighter than the rising morn when Christ, victorious, rose
    And left the lonesome place of death despite the rage of foes
    Shall dawn that glorious, welcome morn for all who know his grace-
    The day when Christ in splendor comes and we shall see his face.
    The King shall come when morning dawns and earth's dark night is past;
    That morning cannot rise too soon, that day that e'er shall last.
    Then let the endless bliss begin, by weary saints foretold;
    When right shall triumph over wrong, and truth shall be extolled!
    The King shall come when morning dawns and light and beauty brings;
    “Hail, Christ the Lord!” Your people pray: come quickly, King of kings!

    As I am still sick, my voice is sadly shot. But since I still owe y'all a bunch of videos I'm getting something out now. Luckily, Instrumentals don't need my voice, so we'll see if y'all like this!
    I also realized during the video editing phase that using a Gothic font may not have been the most legible choice so if you're ever confused as to the spelling, see the description!
    I'm hoping to get over my current illness soon so I can get the remaining... many... videos done. Then we'll be looking into the New Year! Wish me luck!
