I finally got this song I've been working on for a few months done and just in time for SpaceX's launch tomorrow! I decided to try and actually use video for once in a video (crazy I know) and I hope y'all let me know what you think of how it turned out! This song has been a favorite of mine since my childhood when I first heard it. One of the few songs that stuck with me through the years. This song is not mine originally and was written shortly after the Shuttle program began in '83, with the details mentioned in the description. I definitely recomend you check out the original artists' versions! I hope you enjoy! Well it blew up mid air due to a failure in once of the Raptor-9 engines, But this is a learning experience as they described it! Now they know better, And luckily there are more ready!
I like your new rendition though fo this song your voice didn’t have the gravitas of the original singer where you could nearly feel the thunder of the rockets 🚀 as they reached for the sky
I always wanted to work for NASA. I always wanted to do one thing with it: Be able to say to my dead mother “your baby boy is sending you a gift in the heavens. I miss you”
I used to listen to this song all the time as a kid. It (along with "Everyman" from the same album) are one of the big reasons I became an aerospace engineer. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job with your rendition and here's hoping it inspires a new generation of explorers and engineers!
We may have been born to late to sail the seas. We may have been born too early to sail the stars…. WE have the prospect to begin to sail the stars. WE start it all. From here we pave the way.
Of all the versions of this song out I find this one to be the most powerful, maybe because it's the most updated, maybe because it's got more Spirit than most, regardless it's a brilliant rendition. Keep it up, I hope to see more like this.
I cried. Not just because I hope for a better future, I pray for it too, everyday, I pray to god that spreading amongst the stars be his will for us his children.
I mean it very well might be a thing for billionaires in the next few decades... if we build the right infrastructure in orbit maybe even a thing for your average person... ad astra per aspera!
Thank you for making fantastic covers of songs. You introduced me to space shanties from dawson's cristian and since then i have been flooding my TH-cam recommendations with anything space related.
Absolutely fire🔥 You should definitely look into doing some covers on the songs from the album Carmen Miranda’s Ghost. And another civil war song, The ballad of the Hunley or the Boys of the Hunley. Would love to see you cover these! Either way, you’ve earned a subscriber.
Lmao I love the ending. Just imagining mission control confused out of their minds as the astronaut is just singing his heart out. Awesome song too. Have you ever heard Gunpowder Tim vs. The Moon Kaiser? Some ww1 filk thing, I believe I found it from your cover of Dawson's Christian
god this would go so well with vids on the recent IFT2 launch recently, it was amazing seeing that massive starship take off with the booster section having every single engine lit and blasting it into space, with the stage separation being a spectacle of it's own to have seen!
"The United States has finally.. found her purpose." "From Osea and America, Israel and Arabia!" Prometheus, they say, brought God’s fire down to man And we’ve caught it, tamed it, trained it since our history began Now we’re going up to Heaven just to look Him in the eye Up our Fighter goes, see that ASAT in the sky Belenko was the first back in 19-seven’six When, like Cipher, like a man, he wished for a new life fix He knew he might get shot down, ‘cause it’s never hard to die But he split from his crew and rode that fighter in the sky. But before that, a tough one called and we vowed to beat it back And we gave ourselves a decade to go and challenge the Foxbat And Irv Burrows proved the US, we can do it if we try There was one afterburner and a fighter in the sky! And three decades from the Mustang, Thirty two from yesterday Came a fighter christened Eagle to come open up the way And they said she’s a missile truck, but she’s a missile truck aimin’ high! See her big jets burning, see that fighter in the sky! Yet the gods do not give lightly, of the powers they have gave, And over the skies of the Negev desert, once again the price was paid. Israel watched two falling, and it killed our will to fly But 957 landed safely, from that fire in the sky! After Foxhound came in, we knew again we’d have to try But Hyvonen had fallen, ‘cross that Scottish morning sky Though we all must move on someday so now we raise our eyes To our brand new EX, with her AMRAAMs in the sky! With over a hundred to zero, she knew she needn’t try But even so, we still gave C a goodbye Seventy-four years later, our Eagle still can fly This ancient bird’s afterburner - Her (improved!) fire in the sky! See that fighter in the sky? Now the most grandiose of fighters, we have built and now we fly And they land themselves safely, and fight again in places high And now we look to leave our cradle, to take the place of absentees With our Eagle still living, all from A to Silent E! See the rest is up to us - there’s a future to be won We must turn our faces outward, we will do what must be done For we say hello to Raptor, Eagles evn’tually learn to fly And she’s goin’ to the stars, see her fire in the sky Yes, she’s going to the stars, see that fighter in the sky Yes I’ll Remember, ‘til I Die Our Fighter in the sky x2
As much as love the original, this is a worthy update! I loved the updated lyrics (especially the one about the often forgotten Columbia disaster). It really makes this it’s own instead of being just a cover.
What a great tribute to SpaceX & Starship. I was down at Boca to witness "the fire in the sky" created by the first launch of the Starship/Heavy. It is one of the highlights of my life.
Another great one I know you have a long list of music you want to do. But I'd recommend looking to making a Wo alle Straßen enden English version underrated forgotten song.
On June 6th, 2024, Starship 29 successfully splashed-down from a suborbital test flight, along with her booster, which also splashed down safely on the other side of the globe. 29 got pretty mauled by re-entry plasma entering the hinges of her control fins, but even when doing her best Anakin Skywalker cosplay, she made it home safe. Probably should've packed more sunscreen, though...
There is a single wish I want to make to myself we have conquered the land, conquered the underground, and even conquered the skies and I hope even after I die that we conquer space, It being hundreds of space stations Where radicals hideout or the taking of Mars for a better future and the expansion of the human race and beyond.
Not going to lie over the past few months. I've been getting ideas for a space adventure story that is being inspired by filk songs and hfy, and a sceen that's clear in my mind is when the the protagonist leave space this song is playing thoroughly all media alongside with the footage of the liftoff as a message that it's time to innovate to the stars
A little bit edited with newer lyrics, love the originality of it though. I was expecting towards the end with a lower pitch and higher pitch voices, maybe an electric, different guitar playing different pitches, just to make the ending perfect, and although that is what I was expecting and would have enjoyed seeing it, you kept it original, like if the man just had his guitar and was just singing as he flew to mars. Absolutely stunning!
Please attend OVFF at some point. (If it's still going on... the website seems to be inaccessible, at least on 2/9/24.) Or any filk event, really, just please show up SOMEWHERE so I can hear this version live!

The additional 2 verses and edits throughout are definitely well done.
Got scrubbed for later this week due to valve issues, but it shall come soon!
Well it blew up mid air due to a failure in once of the Raptor-9 engines, But this is a learning experience as they described it! Now they know better, And luckily there are more ready!
you should make a rock version like the version of the song in the album "To Touch The Stars; A Musical Celebration of Space Exploration"
I like your new rendition though fo this song your voice didn’t have the gravitas of the original singer where you could nearly feel the thunder of the rockets 🚀 as they reached for the sky
Here after a flawless flight 5, cheers to many more.
May all our ships land as nice as during the first test, from now on!
"are you crying from a song?"

I always wanted to work for NASA. I always wanted to do one thing with it:
Be able to say to my dead mother “your baby boy is sending you a gift in the heavens. I miss you”
just wholesome.
sorry for your loss bro
we have the same motivations, I'm majoring in aerospace engineering right now because of my late mother
Perhaps it is the destiny of man to follow in Prometheus’ footsteps, bringing fire to all that we touch.
Born too late to sail the seas. Born too early to sail the stars.
Born just in time to guarantee the future.
not with that attitude you aren't
Born just in time to own nothing and be happy.
Born just in time to post memes
Born just in time to get addicted to the internet and loose your grip on a reality that seems to get worse daily
I hope this continues for years. Just keep adding verses every couple of decades as we continue the march towards the stars.
This is a masterful piece of cultural heritage.

Ad astra my friend
one of my favourite songs and it sounds just as fabulous as the original!
❤ love this song I wish I could be around when we explore our galaxy ❤
we may not be around for that, but we can lay the foundation to that future now!
We may have been born to late to sail the seas. We may have been born too early to sail the stars….
WE have the prospect to begin to sail the stars. WE start it all. From here we pave the way.
HUZZAH!
Fair winds and Following seas to you lads
We may yet be able to sail the stars in our day
Glory to those who look forward!
This song embodies both my entire political and spiritual perspective lmfao...

I've always loved this song, thanks for doing a cover!
A song that I would love to see you do an English cover of is "Te Souviens-tu?" I think it fits the tone of many of your songs.
this is truly a space moment
If the day comes when you can board a starship to mars commercially, I would pay to put you up there and sing this song in the first space concert.
I mean it very well might be a thing for billionaires in the next few decades... if we build the right infrastructure in orbit maybe even a thing for your average person... ad astra per aspera!
I just heard this song a couple days ago and thought it was pretty cool. and now you do a awesome cover of it.

I love the new verse!
Lovely song, and a great video to go along with it!
Great work, I think the conquest and domestication of other planets is a really great theme.
We were born to early to explore the stars but we were born just in time to ensure our children can.
Good god, yet another classic of filk
Thank you, Thank you, I loved the song before but now its even better, You should do one of 14 minutes until launch
Well done! I like your new verses. Excellent video!
It’s…perfect! Thank you!
Found about this song a week ago, what a coincidence that you made a cover.
Wow, amazing cover of this piece!
I thought it was going to be just a cover of a rare song but no, the addition of two stanzas was a welcome addition.
Another banger
Bro... this is too good! I sing your songs on my way home from school (and vice versa)
Keep up :)
Sadly it was scrubbed, but I love this! Definitely going on my playlisy
