i used to go on a treadmill in my local gym. it was so boring, small tv screen without sound or you had to plug wired headphones or just listen to your own music (airpods in my case). people walking by looking at you, distracting, no fresh air, smelling your and other peoples sweat… it got so boring running for an hour just standing in one place.
cancelled my membership and did go for outside runs, the best thing you can do truly. fresh air, new routes, meet other people. run in rain, snow, without shirt on on hot days. in the woods, along the highway. i love running especially in cold weather or rain

I like the treadmill sometimes because it gives me a nice steady pace but nothing beats running outside

I agree with this because I love running but sometimes I run to fast or to slow and the treadmill gives me control

    Pros of Treadmill:
    Consistent tracking of MPH/KPH
No need for stoppage(no crossing streets and stuff)
    Can watch videos hands-free

Definitely feel this man, was trying a progression run today & got to about 6:30/mile & it felt more like 6:00/mile. Real tough workout.

On treadmill? People keep saying on treadmill is easier... But i always felt like i ran faster on treadmill, even BP higher. But comfort wise, treadmill is 10 times better. A bit boring tho.

I don't like running outdoors because of cars, bikes, pedestrians, animals, bugs, inclement weather, it's a long walk back if I have any issues, etc. The treadmill is just a simple option for me.

Still try running outside from time to time. Choose times with less people around like in th early morning or evening. Choose a short route that you can extend or fit to your needs.
Long sleeve and anti bug help as well.

I don't have access to a treadmill currently, so running outdoor is my only option and I actually prefer that; I love being in the sun and the breeze, lucky for me, it's sunlight all year round, except if you don't mind the occasional rain.
Also, for me as an easily demotivated person, I have to run outside, this way I have no choice but to continue the run until I reach home because usually one gets tired in the middle of a run, whereas on a treadmill, I feel like I'd get lazy and stop whenever I want since I don't actually have to go anywhere, so I might not have the survival need to return home.
That said, I do wish I own a treadmill, this way I can also force myself to run a certain speed, whereas running outside I can slow down my run when I get tired.
Both have pros and cons, as you've mentioned, I think the most important thing is to exercise no matter which one is being used.

I have ran both on treadmill and as well outside, how much I run in treadmill is not always same that of running outside,
I could endure less distance when running outside

Treadmill are fun to me great for tempo and long runs. Too many people out there complain about a tool that has stood the test of time.

What I’ve heard is that for muscle growth and the development of muscular endurance running with an incline is all that helps you on a treadmill as it allows you to push off the ground, at least somewhat otherwise running outside is optimal for muscle development in the legs and feet

I really like the treadmill for time trial to check if I am ready for a race. Want to run a sub 20 5k? Set the treadmill to 1 degree incline, a speed of 15 km/h, and hold it for 20 minutes. If you can do that, you are ready to run a sub 20 5K, you just need to learn to pace yourself in the race and throw in the final kick.

The trick is to get one of those smaller towels, and fold it like a hot dog. Then do one more fold, and wrap it around your neck, so it looks like the cancer sign. Then just zip up a jacket around that. It will keep your lungs nice and toasty. Boxers have been doing it for decades. It should be close to three feet long at least to work well.

Yes. Running at 8 mph on treadmill my HR is always in 130s. Outside at same speed, usually sits high 140s

Love running outdoors but as you get older you notice the toll it can take on your joints and skin esp with the sun. I sweat a lot so no amount of sunscreen can help protect my skin. Therefore running on treadmill is a lot more simple and convenient esp when you can save time not having to prep for running outside!

I prefer running outdoors principally because i can set where i want to go, it's less exhausting, it helps with muscle tone and i can feel "the breeze" (wind coming at me so i know i'm running), and best of all, it's absolutely free.

IMO treadmill is better at keeping you paced when running at your limit. Its better for monitoring performance because it’s essentially a lab environment with fewer variables. Also close to water and toilet. Downsides: unrealistic, flat floor and worse views.

The air quality and heat build up will likely increase the effort towards VOmax. So you can keep the incline

Why am I slower on the treadmill ??

    • @xavierromaniuk3253
      @xavierromaniuk3253 ปีที่แล้ว

Because on the treadmill, you don’t get as much liberty to push off the ground where as outside you, essentially hop foot to foot pressing off the ground with each step (it’s because you’re strong😂)

I don't know what treadmill you use but my gym has Matrix treadmills. Something is off with them. I have ran outside for months so I know what my heart rate is for certain paces. I normally run 10, 11 minute miles outside. I'm at a 13 minute pace on the treadmill but it just feels so hard but my heart rate is 135-140 and my garmin watch says I'm running 10, 11 minute miles. I know that treadmill is wrong. I slowed it down to 14 minute miles and my watch said 11:30/mile. All I know is I go by time and heart rate

Cushioned surface which is a lot easier on joints.
