Highly recommend this warm up. I have been running for years and experienced pain after running in different areas of the body. Since I am using this warm up and an improved stretching afterwards most of the pain has disappeared. Many thanks Tim
At the end of December I got the famous runner’s knee injury. Couldn’t run 4k without pain. I since started using this warm-up video and tonight, just two months later I ran my first, and almost pain-free half marathon distance! Thanks man!
Did u also experienced pain in your shin?? I did start running 2 months ago but didn't thought about warm up and also I did progress probably too fast too hard ... now I have at the start of my run pain in both shins... after a while it goes away .. but I did some research on this and don't want to broke my bones but what can I do ??? I'm preparing for my first 15km race in April and also for half ironman in August... do I necessarily need to take a break or can I do some exercises while having some easy run sessions ??? Bike I can ride without any pain, but my cardiovascular system is in quote bad shape. So I don't want to enter a race with the shape I'm currently in .
Runners Knee is terrible! I had it last year. I watch this video before every run and have never had that issue again. It’s cool to see I’m not the only one
I used to get injuries after running for a few days but ever since I started this warm up I've been running pain free Definitely recommend this warm up
0:51 You might want to pay attention to this movement. The ball of his foot is on the ground and he is not raising his heels that high. I was too aggressive and put weight on my toes and now I seem to have a mild injury, possibly turf toe. I came back to review and see that I was doing this wrong. I've incorporated up to the leg swing exercises and didn't have a problem. Very helpful. Good video.
I was skeptical as this is not how I have intuitively warmed up. However, after a trial run, my body feels great! Thank you, Tim, for all of the instruction you provide.
Tim! This is a fantastic way to gauge any limitations in mobility. I have bookmarked this vid to keep on top of staying limber, especially before a long walk. (Alas, my days of running are behind me) Thanks for you continuing commitment to your audience. we remain your faithful followers.
Tim, I started running at 305 pounds and your warmup routine has really helped me reduce the pain during and after my runs. I'm now under 270 pounds and still running with minimal pain. Thanks for your video!
Did this stretch before running and just completed 4.3 km with 8.3 min/km pace. Need to work on my pace but this was the first outdoor run I went on where my joints weren’t killing me. Thank you!!
I completed my first official 5k today and used this video before the race and for each training run before it. Thank you! --- Since that 5k I’ve run various other 5ks. An 8k and a 10 miler. I’ve used this video before each run and all the runs in between. Thank you!
this is also a great stretch for leg day at the gym! i used to do a 15 minute stretch before, but this short routine works way better. i do this at home and then bike or walk to the gym to make sure my legs are nicely warmed up. works like a gem :) thanks!
Excellent warm-up focusing on all joints and muscles in the legs. No cardio bullshit, but getting alll the legs' parts into moving. Short and effective. Very good work
2 million views, well deserved! This has helped me run with less pain and is just a routine I have before every run. It helps me focus and get in the mood for my runs - same with the post-run stretch video. Thank you!
I am so thankful for this video. I used to have knee pains during and after my runs but after doing the warm ups on this video, I can run without knee pains anymore and was able to run half-marathons pain free!
About to go for my first run in a veeeery long time, so this was perfect! I’ve practiced yoga with you a lot but didn’t know you were a runner, that rules 😎 Thank you!
Thank you for the thoughtfully prepared pre-run warm-up video. As a runner who has experienced injuries from running before, I truly understand the significance of each warm-up session. It not only helps prevent the risk of injuries but also allows me to approach my running training with greater peace of mind. I appreciate it immensely.😊
I remember when I first started running a few months back, I had no idea about the importance of a good warm up before running until I came home a few times in so much pain. I started doing your quick warm up religiously before each run and it had made a significant difference in my recovery. This warm up, along with a good cool down after each run are exactly what I needed to continue on this journey, thank you!
I just ran a 5K, and for the first time ever I did a proper warmup following this guide. I've never felt better after running! No pain at all! I feel dumb not doing this earlier. Thanks so much for this video!
Thanks for this! I have been using this warm up for over a year now. Finished my first full marathon a month ago. I’m doing another one in a few weeks, this has really helped, great warm up!
Wow what a difference this made to my run .. had knee and ankle discomfort on my last outing so searched for a new way of stretching before heading out, and gotta say I just did 7km (my usual distance) with zero discomfort , will be doing this every time 👍🏼
My goal is to run my first ever marathon next year, I'm gonna start training for it starting today. I'm so very excited and this warm up is really good. Plus how calm and smiling you were throughout the video was just amazing.
I'm doing couch to 5k, and on week 2, I was suffering from shin pain . I realised I was not stretching and relying on the warm-up walk. Since then, I have been doing this video with another one to cool down on, and I have had no pain. On week 6 now, and still no pain. Highly recommend for anyone new to running.
this really helped! my lower legs and my upper body all feel warmed up and popped in places i didn’t know needed popping 😭 helped me find areas that im less flexible in than others as well!
I have runner's knee also. Left side of my left knee hurts while right knee is totally ok. I do this before every run (with glute stretch, side leg raises, and ATG squats) and knee pain isn't as severe as before.
Thank you very much, that's my favourite pre-run warm-up so far! I started running as a very unfit person, and other videos made me too tired with their "warm-ups" to go for a run at all, or make it so time consuming it was hard to squeeze the workout into my schedule, running without a warm-up would usually result in various contusions and pains,. Yours really helps, I haven't had a contusion in months now, it let me optimize my training enough so it actually happens! Thank you.
I especially like the tip to start with dynamic stretches, as they help to prepare your muscles for movement. I also think it's important to gradually increase your intensity as you warm up, so that you don't injure yourself. Thanks for the tips!
I used to have such bad ankle pain after running and after using this advice I am happy to say I've not had any pain from running. Thank you for your wisdom.
Okay I used to always be in pain especially in my caps , after running . I found this video and ever since I started practicing before running, SHESH no pain. No excuses now!
So grateful to have come across this as I have been practicing your Yoga videos for years. I love Yoga, running not so much but feel like I need to for Cardio health so very happy to have a great warm up. Will try the post run Yoga video as well. I, also, am a big fan of Brooks! Thank you, Tim!!

i like this warmup, tested it out today! after this and initial 5 minutes of running comes feeling of lightness and pleasure of running. but dont rely only on warmup, stretch after and do some leg muscle work, thats how you gonna be strong and safe!
As someone who has never managed more than half a dozen runs before getting injured I’ll give this a go. I’m going to start the couch to 5k program again and if I actually manage to complete it I think it will be fair to say this works.

If you’d like to see more warm up classes like this in the future, let me know. I hope this routine helps to keep you running pain free!
Any chance of injury-specific warm-ups? Two years of lockdown-running without warming up finally did my pes anserine bursitis in.
This was great! I’d love to see more cool down exercises as well.
