Treadmill = escape severe elements or fear of running in the dark, easy on the joints, quick access to other gym equipment when needed Outside = every other running session Do both, or whatever you enjoy more 😁
I changed my mind outside is way better I get chaif on my legs from 10 mins on a tredmill or 10 mins walking on a concrete straight path and be in pain for days or I can do a 7 hour hike and be 100% after just 2 hours of rest
The first 50 seconds are wrong. Running outdoors requires more effort, burns more calories and builds more strength. Treadmill running is much better than nothing but it doesn't compare to being out on the road in any way.
The only main advantages I see with a treadmill is that they’re great to have when the weather sucks or if you’re concerned about your safety when running outdoors and they kind of force you to be consistent with your pace. Other than that, outdoors all the way. It’s not mind-numbing like the treadmill and it’s much more rewarding since you have to put 100% of your effort whereas the treadmill already does some of the work for you.
Quick Fix very true! I was running around our local cemetery when I noticed a cute girl looking at me. I eventually began talking to her and we ended hooking up. Awesome experience 😉
Mario Weenersnetchal I'm just going to be honest if you are a boxer and you don't run outside you're doing something wrong outdoor running is one of the most essential workouts for boxing
They forgot to mention that running outside makes you stronger than running on a treadmill. The uneven ground of running outside will work balancing muscles on your feet and legs. Plus the harder surfaces of running outside will make your plantar muscles stronger over time. Another fact worth mentioning is wind resistance, running outside will tax you more energy to cut thru gust of winds if your trying to maintain the same pace. Depending on weather, you could either perform better or worse trying to maintain the same pace. As a bonus fact, treadmills will wear out your shoes faster, the moving band against moving shoes cause more friction than a stationary ground against a moving shoe. I recommend "NOT" running bare foot on a treadmill as it pulls on foot muscles, which could lead to injury. Hope this helps.
I would also mention that treadmill running has less impact on your knees and other joints as treadmills absorb a lot of that shock or impact. Both have there benefits. I can't speak for everybody else but when I routinely run outside I begin to develop shin splints. When running on a treadmill regularly I have never developed shin splints.
One other thing: I have a friend that used to only run on tread mills and he could run for long periods of time. When I got him onside on a track, he struggled to complete two laps. treadmills don't require you to push your weight, just lift your knees.
I noticed both effects. For months I ran a lot on the treadmill and when I got outside I struggled. Then I ran outside for a few months without using the treadmill and thought I would shatter my old times on the treadmill. I was wrong, I also struggled. I think it's about what your body as accustomed to. In both cases, after a week or two I had quickly raised my level in the "new" activity.
I have my treadmill in a room with floor to ceiling windows and I must say it is often too sunny... I like the treadmill because I get to focus and for me it is a creative time, often I get good ideas and inspiration. when im outside I have to Pay attention to everything happening around me in order to stay safe. I have asthma and when the weather is cold or too humid it acts as a trigger. I think it is all very personal, and as long as you keep a healthy plan that suits you and achievable, you are good!
All good points but one thing they don't mention is impact on the joints. My treadmill is superior to running on asphalt when it comes to helping my knee problems. I'm generally fine if running on a softer surface outside like grass or a rubber track but much of my outdoor running is on concrete or asphalt and my knees can instantly feel the difference. My treadmill has some built-in shock absorbers to help minimize this impact. So, all else being equal, I prefer the outdoors. But if my knees are killing me, I tend to avoid running all together. Advantage-->treadmill if you have knee problems like I do.
Had a lecture/presentation from a Physical Therapist in my PTA program on running that's worked in Sports Medicine for 16 years. She pointed out that a lot of times people can run incorrectly very easily on a treadmill as your supposed to propel yourself forward while on a treadmill landing on the forefoot while a lot of folks kind of "bounce up and down" so to speak which can have negative effects in the long term She also pointed out if your running on a street (not a sidewalk) you need to switch what side you run on from time to time. Streets are generally designed at a slight angle for drainage purposes. When you run on that barely noticeable angle your body compensates to keep upright. That imbalance can cause all sorts of issues long term as well.
if you want to hit your goal whether it be outside or inside do it, don’t let anything stop you push yourself and think of the background as a laughing stock cause there gonna see you step up better while there just doing nothing.
Minority here, but I feel like the treadmill is harder than outdoors. I run outside in all weathers however sometimes when it's really snowy or I have a chest infection I use the treadmill. It burns my legs more and whereas I can run 18 min 5k outdoors, on the treadmill going at that pace (10mph) feels so much harder. Maybe because I'm not used to it but the treadmill is fun for a change
+Rhys Nichols for a change yes. The key is to maintain a balance. Go out once a while when you can. That will help too. This way you can get the best of both 😊
I love bicycling to work for these reasons. The variety is great. I used to dislike florescent light, but now I like it. I don't know why. Maybe the noise has decreased and general public sentiment about it effected my opinion. I just got a 250 watt electric motor wheel. It has helped reduce my commute time a little, but it isn't so powerful to discourage me from pedaling hard.
Excellent as always! Personally, I find it easier to run 5Km on a treadmill than running the same distance outdoors. May because I have to run against the hard wind around the lake, where I run. (Some Extra calories burnt! Yeah!) Now that I'm running outdoors, noway I'm going back inside to run on a treadmill as it cannot provide me the sceneries, breeze, social interactions like outdoor running.
that's not probably only due to the wind but also because while running on ground your feet have to get a firm grip and then u have to apply force to overcome the friction where as on treadmill u have a very flat surface all uniform so that much work is not done by ur body.
Well fresh air is debatable as a topic because of the increasing pollution everywhere, which is why we chose to leave it out. Hopefully the channel covering the topic next won't have to leave it out.
I even today went to outside for Brisk Walking. What said in video is true. Increases thr mood and will help to walk farther and also helps to increase the thinking level of mind. SO GO OUT AND START RUNNING OT BRISK WALKING
Definitely running outside is good, but I get runners high for 20min run like I'm in a flow state, I do weight training in the morning and 20min jog eve everyday on threadmill, It feels so good.
Walking is great for health - especially for adults over 40 years of age. Below that running is better. Long walks help you clear your head, pace your thoughts and calm you down, figuratively speaking. The benefits of walking seem so obvious that they're rarely discussed. A 30 minute walk or run a day will be very helpful for you. We can make a video on this in the future too.
When you're already motivated and willing, yes. But if the question is whether to run at all - anything works! Inside or outside, treadmill or not. Just do it!
Exactly! Whether its a treadmill run or an outdoor run.. it's still a run! You're still putting in the work and getting a good sweat/workout either way!
Got my first sub 14 two mile time outside from running on a treadmill. Treadmills can help you mentally and physically run a certain pace, because you get used to restrictions a treadmill can create.
How do you burn the same calories? A tread mill just requires you to launch your legs forward, but on a surfaces you are accelerating your entire mass. Am i missing something?
Odisy I support your point. Outside, our body needs to accelerate our own mass consistently and therefore big force is "invested" in order to keep us moving. In an outside run, F = M*A -- is consistently applied on our whole body mass as we're not running on the same spot. but on a treadmill, because of the fact we relatively stick on the same spot the whole workout. our legs just need to keep us on the track and barely fight the force needed to accelerate our body mass forward. Now don't get me wrong, When being used correctly treadmill can be great, hard and intense workout. But for the same speed or incline data, it will never burn the same calories or be as hard as doing the same outside.
I absolutely can not run on a treadmill. Its so boring and the time goes so so slow. Outdoor i can jog for over an hour. Indoor i can run for max. 20mins. And the worst part is that i live in Finland.
Joona Siikonen I did treadmill for an entire year and a half. As long as I had good music, I was fine. But I found out that nothing beats being outside in the warm sunshine hearing the birds chirping. I just haven't figured out how to stay hydrated outdoors without the water bottle holder that a treadmill has.
My opinion and experience running outside is better due to the fact you have the entire space your body can have. And you can do much more running outside and you control your own speed.
Well I am 13 I try to run 6 miles do 100 sit ups,push-ups, and squats every day I usually run outside but I can’t today but I have a treadmill so I was wondering if it is kind of the same. I also play basketball as much as I can everyday
Inside: Less Pollution, No mosquitoes, No cars to hit me, No muggers, No skin Cancer, Outside No TH-cam to watch while I jog which is full of those colors you spoke of etc...etc... Gotta find an hour video to jog to which keeps my mind almost completely off the agony in parts of my run. Have a nice day!
Some places the weather isnt so pleasant. So running indoors will be a good option. You can still go outside and socialize afterwards and get those natural vitamins and good benefits.
I dont smile like this while i am running😁😁 Plus you forgot to tell that running outside is more difficult because temperature is changing fast and wind also might be a problem.
What if it's too hot outside, or you get bitten to death by mosquitos or stung if you run outside and in the winter it's cold enough to freeze your legs in minutes, then I think treadmill is better.
I do both. One thing the treadmill does that running outdoors doesn't do is it forces me to run a certain pace. I can set the treadmill to 12km/hr and that is what I will run no matter what until I set it to something else. Whereas prolonged fast running is hard to maintain with conscious effort past a certain point outdoors. My treadmill is in my garage with tv and DVDs and I don't get bored. Both are great. It works for me.
The Sun and colours are great unless you live somewhere like Scandinavia as I do. Gym's warmth and bright lights win over depressive rain and cloud outdoors every time
Trendmill is good but is boring because when runing outside you can explore different routes and you will never feel the danger and feird of running for your life when a big ass dog trys bite you . 😂😂😂😂 trust me i am running for cross-country
running outdoors is better because: 1. time passes faster 2. you are likely to meet people, and if you stop running (walking) it will make a sense of weakness of yourself in their eyes, thus it makes you want to keep running 3. fresh air and oxygen (no AC) 4. fat burns more because the surface contact is harder than treadmill 5. vitamin from the sun to your skin is very beneficial
I like running outside but am I the only one that’s also scared of doing it (probably cause I’ve seen a lot of stories of people being ambushed while they’re running)? I always feel like I’m being watched
The only advantage to the treadmill is that it helps you set a pace. I have a habit of going faster than cardio pace, so every couple weeks I use the treadmill to remind me how slow I need to go.
My neighborhood doesn't have any sidewalks or trails so I have to walk on the road. I've almost been hit twice by maniacs who don't drive the speed limit and my knees are killing me. I just ordered my first treadmill.
For me on more of a performance aspect i can run for longer inside on a treadmill but can't do the same outside. What I did to balance this was I worked at different intensities and did sprinted climbs on the treadmill which then I found help me perform better outside.
Yea we all know that the running outside is better for your skin and breathing but when its cold outside and its snowing or raining you can't start running just like that you can get cold easily this is why running is the same thing if it helpping for your healthy living.
Ulrich Medez my son is the same age I know u are young an u got all that energy... Just do 1hrs an u will be fine. I run too an I have so much energy I feel like I want to run all day none stop.. But our body needs rest too
Running on a treadmill is better for your knees as the board under the belt typically flexes a little. Running on a treadmill also helps you to run at the same pace for each lap/mile.
Running outside is nice and has advantages. But they should disclose the disadvantages as well. Such as it's much worse for your bones and muscles. I can run 5k on a treadmill but if I do 5k outside my knees hurt and takes a few days for the muscles to get back to normal.
No mention on the physics. Running outside is on a non moving surface - therefore you are actually having to propel your bodyweight with each step. On the treadmill you are not propelling your bodyweight, you are effectively running on the same spot - no movement forward - the treadmill motor is providing its own level of energy that you would have otherwise had to provide to move the ground for you. With that the running outside is more of a workout than adding the treadmill motor to move the ground for you.

I can't afford a gym membership
Me living in Seattle with all this rain, a treadmill is a must for me.
I dont smile like this while i am running😁😁
Plus you forgot to tell that running outside is more difficult because temperature is changing fast and wind also might be a problem.
Both are important...Treadmill with tempo runs can improve your performance for any outside running performance.
when its cold i use a treadmill...got my videos i watch and i have no distractions to slow me down
Running in the city has a whole lotta grey and a lack of green but still more enjoyable than indoors
how about placing treadmill outside. Legendary!😂
Legendary? How? Ewww
Or placing it on a dairy farm. Legend-Dairy.
randomfleming or placing it where "It" takes place. Derry, Maine. Now that's legend-Derry
Pradeep Athlete Singh stupid
Sir, 10 kilometres on treadmill is equal to how much kilometres on ground (approximately)
You: threadmill or outside?
Me, an intelectual: Indoor track
im workingout indoor and watching this video..
Too many sketchy ppl outdoors so a treadmill is safe.
What if it's too hot outside, or you get bitten to death by mosquitos or stung if you run outside and in the winter it's cold enough to freeze your legs in minutes, then I think treadmill is better.
Well I have to walk to the gym so I guess I get both

Running outside is also free
I love running outside but the treadmill helps shock absorbtion for my knees.
Everytime I'm outside I always look at the ground, I might step in some shit or something
One of the best video on TH-cam
The Sun and colours are great unless you live somewhere like Scandinavia as I do. Gym's warmth and bright lights win over depressive rain and cloud outdoors every time
oljenka88 I would say calm, relax, beautiful rain and cloud.
What about walking on an indoor track vs walking on treadmill? Where’s that comparison?
It’s like comparing playing basketball on your PS4 vs playing basketball on an actual basketball court with an actual basketball.
💯
TraumaER no. Because ones a game and ones actual physical activity. This is comparing two things which are both physical activity
In hot humid weather like Texas or Arizona will you run outside or if you live in Dubai?
Trendmill is good but is boring because when runing outside you can explore different routes and you will never feel the danger and feird of running for your life when a big ass dog trys bite you . 😂😂😂😂 trust me i am running for cross-country
running outdoors is better because:
1. time passes faster
2. you are likely to meet people, and if you stop running (walking) it will make a sense of weakness of yourself in their eyes, thus it makes you want to keep running
3. fresh air and oxygen (no AC)
4. fat burns more because the surface contact is harder than treadmill
5. vitamin from the sun to your skin is very beneficial
Time doesn’t pass by faster no matter what you do, it’s all in your head.
I like running outside but am I the only one that’s also scared of doing it (probably cause I’ve seen a lot of stories of people being ambushed while they’re running)? I always feel like I’m being watched
Jaime Salazar omg same
Jaime Salazar - in where Syria?
I will buy a treadmil for cild seasons (8-9 months here), and outside walking for summer.
I noticed that when I run outside my sweat is kind of oily
And
When I run on the treadmill its watery..... Hmmm
You ever had a creampie
Me too !!!
The only advantage to the treadmill is that it helps you set a pace. I have a habit of going faster than cardio pace, so every couple weeks I use the treadmill to remind me how slow I need to go.
You burn more calories outside as there is wind resistance
I shade more on treadmill though it is boring.
But the wind also cools you down
There's air conditioner air resistance from treadmill
@@rockerboyka94 No there's not I ran 20 MPH outside but on the treadmill I ran 22.7 MPH so somethings definitely not adding up here
Thank you for this information
But when I play running in home this is good? mean outdoor(outside)
winter with Rain in gym
although i miss the sunlight
My neighborhood doesn't have any sidewalks or trails so I have to walk on the road. I've almost been hit twice by maniacs who don't drive the speed limit and my knees are killing me. I just ordered my first treadmill.
Outside, you seen nature and stuff, while inside ur just caged
Outdoor Running is better in all ways. And Prefer to Run where you have loads of Greenery!! Great Info
Treadmill is safe and secured. I don't want to meet strangers.
go outside then and build some confidence. living in fear aint good.
Ultra introvert
For me on more of a performance aspect i can run for longer inside on a treadmill but can't do the same outside.
What I did to balance this was I worked at different intensities and did sprinted climbs on the treadmill which then I found help me perform better outside.
Excellent video. How much time do you guys take to create a video
Takes anywhere between 15 days to 45 days. Depends on various things.
On a road you are pushing your body forward through a lot more effort, on a treadmill it's pushing itself backwards. The beginning is wrong.
Yea we all know that the running outside is better for your skin and breathing but when its cold outside and its snowing or raining you can't start running just like that you can get cold easily this is why running is the same thing if it helpping for your healthy living.
I'm just 13 and I run 3 hours a day outside since I was 9
Ulrich Medez how is Kenya this time of year?
Ulrich Medez That's not healthy, I am telling you. It is good for performance but not good for a longer life.
TexicanMr lmao
Ulrich Medez my son is the same age I know u are young an u got all that energy... Just do 1hrs an u will be fine. I run too an I have so much energy I feel like I want to run all day none stop.. But our body needs rest too
R/thathappened
Running on a treadmill is better for your knees as the board under the belt typically flexes a little. Running on a treadmill also helps you to run at the same pace for each lap/mile.
Just put the threadmill outside😑😑
Nope, treadmills are boring and a waste of money.
Running outside is nice and has advantages. But they should disclose the disadvantages as well. Such as it's much worse for your bones and muscles. I can run 5k on a treadmill but if I do 5k outside my knees hurt and takes a few days for the muscles to get back to normal.
This fool talks so slow I have to run the video at twice the normal speed.
