With decades of comic books and stories to draw from, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has an almost unlimited well of inspiration for its movie franchise juggernaut. While not every story or thread can make it to the big screen, every once in a while, a sly reference to the comic book canon can be slipped into the movie as a nod to the fans. With the cultural influence Marvel Comics has had long before Iron Man introduced us to the shared universe, there are plenty of chances for references to Marvel’s reach into pop culture.
After ten years and over twenty movies under their belt, the inside jokes have built up. Inside jokes have been a staple of comics for years and have helped define Marvel. More than just little rewards to hardcore fans, they connect the universe together. Here’s some of the best hidden jokes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What's your favorite joke in the MCU ?
Tony stark says the N-word
That means get lost Squidward
You should've gone for the head.
Did you know the lorance was in man of steel too
What’s Spider-Man’s weakness;
Uncle bens rice
she should have had a Stan Lee cameo where he is a janitor and picks up Thor's hammer, cleans under it, and puts it back down
Lego marvel
that would be hilarious
That’d be epic
The janitor is worthy. 😂😂😂
Here's what we know:
"The movie will start, and then it will end." -Jeremy Renner on Avengers: Endgame
I so hope there will be a joke about that in Endgame
There will also be a middle...
If you’ve seen Endgame, you have to admit Jeremy Renner was damn awesome in it. I really liked him and Pepper too. Probably their best acting in the entire MCU.
Endgame is all ready out!
@@KMWeir In the last fight when pepper and tony flew back on back and fired their lazors. One of the best scenes, it looks so epic
What amuses me is that Liam Hemsworth auditioned for Thor before Chris. Chris got the part and then brother Luke got to play joke Thor. Poor Liam, it wasn't meant to be
I like Tony using funny names like Point Break, Grimace and Squidward
Dean Maynard don’t forget underoose
Manchurian Candidate
The Squidward one was hilarious and surprising. One of my fav jokes.
Gotta give the props to Tony Stank.
‘Clench up Legolas’ -Tony to Hawkeye
Red Skull is Herr Schmidt, which is German for Mr. Smith or Agent Smith.
Purely a coincidence, but definitely a funny one.
How about that? 😲😃
good ;]
Deutscher?
Oh my god!
I love it when Iron Man references Doctor Who by telling Captain America to reverse the polarity
“You won’t like me when I’m angry.”
“I don’t like you now.”
Gotta love Family Guy lol
Matt Damon also played Loki in Kevin Smith's *Dogma* which is what makes that cameo so special. and Kevin Smith was referenced again in Captain Marvel when Stan Lee is reading the script for *Mallrats*
14:24 did he say “Chris HELMSWORTH”????
Ethan E it sounds like it
Yes
He should apologize.
I thought i was the only who heard it
I noticed it too.
Which is better
Like for marvel
Comment for D.C.
Nionx lol what’s d.c lmao they are ass compared to marvel
Expiry not In animations tv shows or comics tbh
@@aaronw4 absolutely CW DC shows make the DCEU look like a shitshow
C'mon Nionx, you know what many will say in this regard:
When it comes to Live-Action Movies, Marvel is the CLEAR Winner.
And when it comes the Animated Shows & Animated Movies overall??
There is ABSOULUTELY no question who the winner is between the two. NONE.
However, I will say I really enjoyed "Into the Spiderverse" late last year.
And also, look at it this way, you designed your comment this way for a reason.
*"Like for Marvel"*
*"Comment for D.C."*
Out of the two, which one takes more time to complete??
Click the Thumbs Up or Write a Comment??
Clicking the Thumbs Up only takes a moment (like barely a second or two).
Making a comment can take several seconds or minutes.
Marvel wins in shared universe
DC wins in all other place
Still Dark knight considered As the best superhero movie of all time.
movies like wonder woman, aquaman, shazam were absolutely fantastic.
How could you forget, 14:49 Matt Damon reference was because he was Loki in dogma!?!
Matt Damon also played an angel named Loki in the movie Dogma
Thats why i laughed so hard when he played Loki in a play in the movie thor: ragnarok lol
Yep that's right, and the lines that Stan Lee says in the movie Captain Marvel are from his cameo in MALRATS.
Another Kevin Smith movie as well.
Donald Glover from Community is also in Spider-Man homecoming
he is miles morales' uncle aka the prowler
More of an easter egg than a joke though.
the Asian one (i forgot his name) is also seen in end game
@@_izzybelly Ben Chang. And Shirley is in Endgame too.
Also, Joel McHale is in Spiderman 2 with Tobey Maguire
The “losing a limb in Phase Two” was something I already knew. I loved it!
Thanks for the little rock, paper, scissor joke :)
1. Thanos After Seeing The Far From Home Trailer
"WHY IS GAMORA" WAS IMPROVISED ?!?!? I LOVE IT
From the Endgame trailer:
War Machine: what's up 'regular-sized' man?
That's below the belt... literally
I laughed myself 💀 on that one. Classic military humor. Hit your teammates below the belt. Always.
thank you Stan Lee for showing me what it means to be a hero and a good person ....R.I.P. and thank you again !!!
The only hilarious thing about this sad effort is the way the narrator botches so many pronunciations.
I'm convinced he does it to get the comments. Either that or he's had a head injury.
And there’s another Easter egg where iron man calls Thor Point Break and it’s the password to the ship in Thor 3
Amazing vid as always CBR!
Like
I don’t like being “that guy”, but the song at the beginning of Iron Man is actually Back In Black by AC/DC. The end of the movie played The Iron Man song just after Tony’s announcement.
5:18 "he smashes things real good"
XD😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'M DYING OF LAUGHTER right NOW
Immature
It's not "Wa-titty" 😂😂😂 it's pronounced "Wai-ti-ti"
If you're not used to the Maori language, an 'easy' way to pronounce it is by saying Why-tea-tea.
It's levi-OSSSA. Not Leviosá.
He also doesn't know how to say Mjolnir.
Its Watitty to me
@@stevea2085 "Miu-miu!"
I just rewatched Cpt America & Winter Soldier, was noticing the same thing about Bucky. He uses Cap’s shield in all the movies, I think he does in Civil War at some point. When Chris leaves it’ll be Sebastian if he’s down.
He does in the 2v1 against tony at the end in siberia
Matthew Lacey that’s what I was thinking, it’s been awhile since ive seen it. They do like to foreshadow things in the MCU, and I think it would work.
pretty sure bucky does become captain america after steve rodgers dies, which he was suppose to after civil war, taken into custody and then assassinated by red skull
They call him White Wolf in Black Panther though, who is another character (I think).
@@JustapErson Well, White Wolf is a completely different character in the Black Panther comics, he is an adopted son of the king...
This is an Easter egg vid. Quite a few things in this list aren’t inside jokes
"I AM SAM"
"SAM I AM"
"WOULD YOU LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM?"
Tony Stark was not introduced into the MCU with “I Am Ironman” playing. It was AC/DC’s “Back in Black”.
Also, how are most of these “hilarious”? The Arrested Development entry was nice. But past that...
Another Arrested Development reference is the blue version of Tobias Funke in the Collector's collection.
He definitely said “Helmsworth” instead of Hemsworth, and Benadar instead of Benatar!!
I loved that Stan was loving his cameo's🙌
Stan Lee will always be a Legend.
3:55 he says in every movie in phase 2 then shows a clip from infinity war
"fear nothing son of coul" Thor 1
Literally none of these are jokes
U literally don't know the definition of a joke
or hilarious
I agree, if anything they're "easter eggs. "
Nods or easter eggs yup
New rockstars. . . but not as good
You know you're the GOAT when you get a cameo in a rival company's show
ha ha yes
how did you not mention in civil war spiderman asks if iron man has seen empire strikes back
*these are basically easter eggs, they're barely jokes, lmao*
That is so weird that there would be a stair truck at an airport.
When Thor says "What do you think is surging through my veins?" War Machine... "Cheese Whiz" lol
Matt Damon was the first Loki !
Where my Kevin Smith fans at
That's the Iron Man callback we all misses, not Cheeseburger, not I am Iron Man, it is Mr.Lebowski.
Awesome video!!!
One other inside joke about Thor: Ragnarok is that Matt Damon playing Loki in the play is a call back to when he played Loki in "Dogma".
Alma “Mayter”
Taika “Waititty”
Just wait until you see Endgame. It was amazing. Lots of laughs and tears. I saw it yesterday (24th April) as I live in Australia
Rahnie Singh
:) I’m going to see it on the 27th since I live in England, I’m so exited.
It was incredible. I’m still processing it. I saw it Thursday night here in the US. So many unexpected things! Great humor, some tears and true avenging.
Kim Weir
Your right it was great... *MY DEPRESSION IS CURED*
Can't believe nobody made a Poppa Doc joke about Mackie yet
CBR, you completely missed the point of Matt Damon playing Loki. One word. DOGMA. You're welcome.
loved the other big lebowski reference in endgame where thor looked like jeff bridges character lol
5:16 all we got to do is ask Romanoff for proof
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Nothing left to chance. They studied every single detail.
How about the one in ragnorak when Thor is getting tossed around by hulk and Loki said see how it feels nodding to avengers
CBR: For when you prefer your T's to sound like D's.
"Hilarious" ?
Easter eggs eggs certainly but "Hilarious"?
the big lebowski was hilarious.. but indeed this compilation isnt..
njords62 that’s what I was thinking
I love Easter eggs they hint the future of upcoming movies!
Lebowski is also name dropped in Endgame.
12:00 when thors hammer lands in the new mexico desert with an enchantment to make sure no one *UNWORTHY* picks it up..."
Cool! Cool cool cool! - loved the Peralta reference!
These r always amazing to watch
One that hardly ever gets mentioned is that Matt Damon played a very different Loki in Dogma.
Rock, paper, scissors, very subtle but still pretty good. Benetar's "Shadows in the Night" is her best song. Tom Cruise as Superior Iron Man. Jokes? No, but they are pretty good references.
5:16 that barely audible moan Loki lets out is pricelessly hilarious #LOL #a113
thrangar andoron we didn’t even hear it in the theater cause everyone was laughing so hard
What's with the way he said Taika Waititi??????
The Kiwis are ashamed dude
Another hidden joke for me is Dr. Strange's "whiplash" effect on Thor in Ragnarok, which is why Quiksilver held Magneto's neck in place before breaking him out in Days of Future Past...
also how good is days of future past? that's a great movie
Imagine if cap said "flame on" in avengers endgame
Read every interview. I've only watched 10 seconds into the video that's my favorite part
erm hate to break it to you but tony stark enters on back in black from acdc not iron man.
Yeah, the song Iron Man only gets played at the end credits if I remember correctly, AC/DC had more of a song presence, which is why there were so many shirts with both AC/DC and Iron Man on them back then
Love the video
Matt Damon is also Loki in Dogma
Great video
One of the studio cameras they used in "Thor" is used in "Infinity War". HOW DID YOU MISSED THAT?!
Marvel took this video so serious that the made an entire movie a joke!
Tony also calls Thor "Labowski" when he gets all fat in Endgame.
Fishburn, Fishbourne... Hemsworth, Helmsworth... are you fucking with us?
The green eggs and ham joke was very funny.
You forgot to add Donald Glover in Spider-man Homecoming while mentioning Community actors
when matt damon played loki in dogma and loki in ragnorak
"...Most Hilarious..." I didn't even smile.
You missed the connection that Matt Damon played loki in the musical because in Kevin Smith's movie Dogma, Matt Damon plays the god Loki in that movie.
You forgot to tie in the Lebowski reference to Thor (END GAME) to the Jeff Bridges segment
I LOVE the nod to the Big Lebowski in Endgame ;)
My favorite hidden joke is my dad, still can't find him... 😭
I wonder whether Garrett Morris' "What the hell?!" was supposed to be a nod you Terminator
Sam Jackson saying Modafoka at the end after Thanos snaps his fingers.. ode to Pulp Fiction
The big reference to Pulp Fiction was Fury's fake gravestone!
Garret Morris could’ve had Stan Lee in the back like, “What?” as if it was a taxi or Uber.
Marvel Studios:they figured it out!
Ok.... this is the best group of catches so far. I thought I'd be mad but...
One more in-joke about Bixby's line; when assured by Captain America that approaching an armored giant serpent would be a good time to get angry, he just smirked and replied, "That's my secret, Captain; I'm always angry." before transforming in the space of half a second and hitting the serpent in the face so hard its armor came off.
Isn't it cool how the creators of these marvel movies are so deteticated they take the time to not only put these Easter eggs in but to understand them enough to make sure they're accurate
Can’t believe you just skipped over the fact that Matt Damon is portraying Loki in the play, and he played Loki in the movie Dogma
I think one of the funniest subtle jokes is when Colonel Phillips brings Dr. Arnim Zola dinner once he's been captured. If you're wise to the reference of "meat and two veg", you'd've cracked up laughing. What's funnier is when TLJ then proceeds to eat it himself....!!!!
You see A113 in almost Every Pixar movie if you look close enough
Tony Stark calls depressed Thor Big Lebowski
kOGR : you dont need a wodden wepoen with three pointed ends...unless you want to kill three vampires....refrence to what we do in the shadows
11:58 wait? what? Making sure no one *worthy* of it's power picks it up. don't you mean *unworthy* , I'm so confused
Obadiah Stane also made another reference in Iron Man. He mentioned legacy, hence his part in Tron Legacy.
7:52 Alyssa Milano was Poison Ivy in the Distinguished Competition cartoon show, Young Justice.
James Bond is so Badass that it makes Thanos shit his pants
“Thor looking extremely worried when Captain America nearly lifted his hammer”
