Change is inevitable. Things evolve, people age, sensibilities change. Things that were once common become embarrassing in modern light, but even more so when there’s less at stake. Now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the billion dollar juggernaut of the multiplex, miles from its plucky upstart beginnings with its cast of leftover characters like Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. From those touch and go beginnings to the record shattering Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has grown and changed. One of the biggest changes is going from a struggling comic book publisher with ambitions to become a major studio to the most major studio there is buying them up and taking the reins to the MCU.
Disney is one of the staunchest defenders of its brand and, with their new stablemate Marvel Studios, they’re no different. That means that some of the things that were acceptable in earlier Marvel movies might not be okay now that they’re under the flag of the family friendly Disney. From racy jokes to graphic violence, things are a little different than when they were distributed by Paramount and Universal. With stories like Demon in a Bottle that deal with Tony Stark’s alcoholism, in some cases, the comic books are allowed to be a little darker than their franchise friendly counterparts. Whether it’s for image or a changing social landscape, let’s look at some of the ways the MCU has changed now that it’s a Disney property.

As someone that went through boot camp in 2004, I would like to point out that drill sergeants do indeed still call their recruits "ladies" (and I was at Fort Knox, which was all-male at the time), that didn't go away with the Greatest Generation.

After watching Spider Man: Far From Home, I'd say this guy who said, "Happy wouldn't make a good adult figure" Happy simply rose to the occasion when Spider Man aka Peter Parker's confidence was down and he was blaming himself for shit that wend down especially blaming him for Tony Stark's death. Happy was able to lift up Peter's spirits and confidence up and was ready to take Mysterio down

Black-widow is my favorite character. As a teen she looked great as an adult she had the most character development meant. I almost cried watching endgame. I am excited to see her take on Taskmaster!

Is it possible that Black Widow's "I can't have children, I'm a monster" thing is in reference to what she has done over the years, and her concerns over her ability to care for and love a child, and raise the child to be something other than what SHE is?
I believe it's in reference to the things she's done and to what was done to her at the Red Room. One of the things that happened to her in that program is they performed a procedure on her that left her unable to have children.

Pepper got watered down by Disney. She was Tony's version of Lucius Fox who earned her way to being respected by Tony and promoted to CEO and marrying Happy as the breadwinner. Fans were happier seeing her being gifted the company as his girlfriend and later wife. Just didn't want a rich bachelor to be in the lead, huh? Had to wife down Tony.

I mean, they said that the next Deadpool movie would still be a rated R movie, so I really don't think they're "banning" any scenes or concepts just because they're Disney. They understand what makes the product appealing and are still going to follow suit.

@@daggern15 In the comics Thanos' presence causes enchantments to disappear. Allowing mjolnir to be wielded by anyone. So really it could be that Marval removed that ability of Thanos' for the movies so Cap could have his "i'm worthy" moment or... Just silently had that ability in place.

Black Widow's "Monstrosity" is not her inability to reproduce. That is so insulting, especially as many women can't reproduce but are never thought of as monsters.
It refers to the "red in her ledger." She was a Soviet assassin trained from childhood; she killed innocent people on her course toward that job. She never knew a real loving relationship until Clint became her friend. When she fought him on Vormir, she was using his family against him but she really desired to clear that last bit of red, and being the love sacrifice appealed to her sensibility.
I mean, I never liked Disney, and I got worried when they bought Marvel, but I don't mind their ban on cigars in movies. xD
But considering the MCU is gonna have an R-Rated movie in a few years (Blade), and Endgame had that scene where they chopped Thanos' head off like at the beginning of the movie, I don't think Disney are changing those movies that much.
I think Disney understand that Marvel is a huge cash cow these days (Endgame being the highest grossing movie ever), so I wouldn't be surprised if they allowed them some leeway over their product as long as it isn't outright crazy.

So no over the top death scenes like regular R rated action films, minimum use of profanity, and almost no sexual innuendos.

Because the majority of the audience has no idea what Prima Nocta is. That and Stark sometimes tends to say jokes under his breath, or quieter, so we don't often hear them at all until we start to memorize the lines and then hear something else we didn't expect. Great example: "Better clench up, Legolas," in Avengers. Most people I think would get it in this day and age (we aren't that far removed from the Lord of the Rings) but most people didn't hear it, because Cap was giving orders and we were paying attention to what he was saying, so much so that we missed the slightly quieter yet hilarious joke.

I really hate how they've managed to ruin most of what made the original MCU films great.
Like, Thor's the worst offense, but everything has declined. A lot of the characters seem a hell of a lot shallower now, too.
The censorship hasn't helped, even if it's not the worst problem. Making characters and stories seem authentic. Which means making them seem like people. Which means letting them actually act like real people, instead of G-rated robots.
