How to make Paneer | Cottage Cheese Recipe | Paneer Recipe

  • In this video learn how to make paneer/cottage cheese at home. Also, learn tips on how you to make a very soft and tasty paneer at home.
    (Tip - You can also freeze this paneer. Cut it into cube, put it in a ziplock bag or any container and store it in the freezer. Just before using it add it in hot water for 10-15 minutes and it will be nice and soft again ready to use! :) )

      Yes absolutely! I do that all the time when I make a big batch of it. You just need to cut it in cubes, put it in a ziplock bag or any container and freeze it. Before using it you just need to put it in hot water for approximately 10-15 minutes and it will be nice and soft.

    Hi Recipe Hut! New Zealand here. Can I marinade this paneer in lemon juice and chilli powder, and gently fry it before adding to a curry? How do you feel about adding 300ml cream to 3 litres of full cream milk?

      Hello! Yes of-course you can do that. Marinating the paneer pieces in lemon juice and chili powder and sautéing it on a skillet with a little bit of oil till it turns slight golden brown and then adding it to the curry would definitely enhance the taste of the dish. But please make sure not to over cook it on the skillet because that would make the paneer chewy. Adding cream is also a great idea it will make the paneer more creamy and rich! 👍

    I'm very happy to have found your video as it is difficult to find paneer cheese in my area. I LOVE saag paneer and made it once and am ready to make it again but need paneer cheese - and your recipe is the easiest I've seen without added chemicals!       @@therecipehut The video states 1/5 of a liter or 50 oz of milk right? How many oz of paneer cheese does this make?

      I did not weigh the paneer so cannot give you the exact figure. But from around 50 Fluid Ounces you should be able to get around ~10 oz of paneer.

    Help! Every time I make paneer it doesn't hold up very well. Meaning it falls apart after I add it to the curry. What can I do to make it maintain its shape under heat?

      If your paneer is falling apart, try increasing the weight you place on it while setting it. If the weight is less it will crumble, if you add too much the paneer will become too dry, so try increasing just a little bit of weight at a time and see. I hope this help!

    What percentage (cream) of milk did you use?

      I prefer to use full fat milk to make paneer. The more cream content the creamier the paneer would turn out.
