Nice video, thanks. A simple question: when the doorbell connects as wired, does this mean I don't need to charge the door battery every few months? A quick response will be appreciated.
Correct. When it's wired, it only switches to the battery in the event of a power outage. You would never have to take it down and charge it if it is wired.
Does it still pop up the same notifications on your nest devices as when you were running on battery? Are you able to turn off the regular old chime when it's wired?
Yes, in the settings you can set it to ring you regular home chime. I have mine disabled because I use the Nest Speakers/Displays. So my speakers say "ding Someones at the front door".
In this setup, the wires from the house keep the battery at 100%. If you setup the doorbell without a wired setup, then you popup the doorbell, charge it and pop it back on the mount.
@@BigCVlogs okay so is it not possibel to charge the battery and use the old Chime box? Because the switch must closed to have a working electric circuit?
I currently have my Google doorbell (battery) set up but I live in a high traffic area so my camera goes off almost every hour of the day, therefore the battery only lasts 7-10 days. If I wire it to my existing doorbell/ intercom, would it work the same and I wouldn’t need to take it down to charge it?
Thank you for instructions! i have followed installation for wired doorbell, but now the doorbell ring sounds as though it hangs up when ringing. I reduced the the seconds that doorbell is to ring and it helps somewhat. any suggestions?
hello great video but I didn't c you do anything to the chime unit in the house, with the old nest doorbell you had to add a box to the inside of the chime
I bought both wired & wireless; the wired installation requires a chime puck be installed; how is this not required when the battery model is hardwired?
I can say, I dont think so. I think the white light should flash till you get the camera setup. I think you can check Google's website for the Nest Doorbell Camera that tells you what the lights mean.
Why get this one opposed to the wired version? my main wish is quickness for the feed to show up on my google nest hub screen, as its for grandparents to check who's at door before answering
This one just had the option to wired or use the battery. A new Wired Only Nest Doorbell just passed the FCC so it should be out by next month, after the 10/6 Google event.
I want to hard wire my nest doorbell using an outlet nearby. Do I just hook up the back two screws to the Adaptor then plug into the outlet and it will work? Thank you
Hi mate, if you charge the doorbell to a 100% before attaching it, then will it drain to a certain percentage and stop there from going down further? Can you max all when on infinite? And one more question, can you hardwire the cables without the extenders, the cables between the screws?
Hello, yes you can hardwire it without the extenders and yes it will drain all the way down to 0%. It will tell you when it gets low though. I use the solar panel, haven't had to charge mine in months.
Nope. My door chime was at the very low end of the range (8v) so I assumed it would be fine, and it was. Most UK doorbells are very low voltage, which is why I wasn’t able to use the original Nest Hello.
@@BigCVlogs I wouldn't be surprised if the Nest app went away and the Google Home apps gets rebranded as Nest Home. The Nest app hasn't been updated significantly since the purchase.

Only the old wired doorbell can do 24/7. The "new and improved" battery version cannot ever do 24/7 recording. According to Google it gets too hot. They are just trying to save their hdd space though, it must cost a lot to have a lot of Nest cams storing that much video.
