Without a subscription, do you get 3 hours of recordings from the time you look at it, i.e, 3 hours back from now, or is it 3 hours total worth of events? For example, if I look at 5PM, will it only show events from 2PM onwards or will it show events going back further so long as the combined duration doesn't exceed 3 hours?
Hi Gareth, it's 3 hours backward from the current time. not 3 hours of recorded footage, unfortunately. So you wont' see a clip from noon if it's currently 4 pm.
Great in depth video! Miss Gabe doing videos but you did a great job! I purchased and installed this and so far liking it. I had the older Nest Hello and the new video format is geared towards a mobile device full screen instead and of the Nest Hub Max. I also purchased the Nest Battery Cam and waiting for the floodlights!
What happened if this thing installed outdoors and under the rainy condition? This doorbell I have gets fog-blurry and of course wet. Especially its night time and rainy. I cant tell who is outside.
Amazing video- thank you for such a detailed run down. It blows my mind that they migrate this from the nest app. I have two cameras that have better functionality in the NEST app and now I’ll have to use this in a separate eco system. Really poor product management by google.
Tricky question: Does the Nest Doorbell have to be connected to the same WiFi network as your Hub Max in order to answer visitors from that display? What if they are on different SSID's at different residences, but connected with the same Google account?
The battery life depends on usage but it lasts 5 weeks with heavy usage. It could last up to 6 months on a single charge if there isn’t that much activity around the doorbell. The charging is pretty easy all you have to do is dislodge the doorbell from the base and connect it to any power brick or bank. It uses a usb c cable and charges in about an hour to two hours.
My battery died in 2 days when it's supposed to last 6 months . Recharged and it died after 1 day tech support came out thought it was fixed needless to say I have another tech coming out .nice camera if it stayed charged for me.
A pity they reduced the resolution from the wired Hello & restricted events to only 3 hours where they should include at least 12 hours. Another improvement would be to increase the capacity of the battery so its on par with the Eufy Dual.
@@josebenedico7379 I now have the Eufy Dual, its better in some areas but also has some drawbacks. Besides the above. Pros: *The higher 2K resolution has a clearer detailed picture. *The wider 4:3 captures more of the scene while the separate package camera gives a better vertical view. *16gb of free storage in the Base Station but requires an internet connection to access it via the Eufy servers. *The Eufy Doorbell & Base Station both ring where the Google Nest does not, you need to buy Google speakers & /or a Nest Hub to use it. *The Eufy lithium battery handles colder weather better at zero Celsius, where the Nest introduces more artifacts & loses power slightly quicker. Cold weather will affect the performance of all lithium powered doorbells to some degree. Cons: *As my doorbell faces south west & a streetlight. The main cameras aperture gain sensor introduces a flickering banding effect in scenes where there is a contrast between bright & dark areas. Such as during sunset or at night when the security light turns on & theres light from opening the door. Not a problem on overcast dull days. All Eufy Doorbells are affected. I have tested three & Eufy support acknowledge its the limitation of the cameras sensor. A firmware update will not fix it. *The motion sensors on the Eufy are not as good as the Nest. The Eufy triggers at 10ft & the Nest at 20ft. *The face detection feature is not as good as on the Nest. It more frequently fails to recognise people. *The lowlight sensors on the Eufy are not as good as on the Nest. Autonight vision does not always turn on when facing a streetlight. *While i did connect the Eufy to the Nest Hub the picture does not automatically show when the Eufy doorbell is pressed. You have to ask the Nest Hub to show the doorbell which takes 22 seconds. *The Eufy app can be glitchy especially when viewing videos events. The Google Home assistant has a slicker interface but that in itself is not as good as the Nest app it replaced. *The Nest Doorbell is more aesthetically pleasing, it comes in white & better suits my white uPVC door frame.
Yea no reason to "upgrade" from the wired nest doorbell. It's more of a tandem duo then actual upgrade, each with tradeoffs. Nest Battery has slightly lower resolution, but a better (taller) aspect ratio. Battery gives you more free services but equal out if you have nest aware for either.
Can you adjust the zone to be just the immediate area in front of the door? Looking for something for an apartment, don't want it activating with every person that just walks by
That is tough one when dealing with apartment entryways. Most doorbells allow you adjust the sensitivity, but if they are walking within 3 feet of the device, it will trigger an alert in most cases.
Just wanted to ask. When you or someone pushes the doorbell button & starts talking does your doorbell repeat what they said? Each time we have tested ours we get a repeat of what we (the person at the door) said over the doorbell speaker. Not sure if it's just our bell or if that's what it's meant to do. Seems strange & a bit annoying having what you say to the doorbell repeated back to you, plus who ever is answering you from the phone is coming over the speaker as well. 🤔
I've had mine for about 3 weeks. This doorbell SUCKS if you happen to turn it off and then want to turn it back on. It takes forrrrrrrever for it to find itself and turn back on. So, I'm wondering how ell it will work, or IF it will work if you use presence sensing and leave your house. Will it turn on? Only time and attempts will tell! Now, for when you demonstrate the camera view from 10' out, 24' out, etc., and you ask how you look, well, you're looking goooood! You're smokin' HOT! 😃
What is the difference between normal video quality and max? The only reason I hated this doorbell it's because the video quality is terrible, for me should be at least 4K.
Good question! If we have not answered your question within our detailed hands-on review, we suggest reaching out to the company directly to get more information. Thanks for understanding!
That Google Home App looks like a hot mess compared to the smooth Nest App. I’ve resisted migrating over to the Google app for years but now that I’m purchasing this new doorbell cam I have no choice 😐
Just ordered two of these! Thanks for the confidence boost with this device.
Most thorough and helpful review I've seen of this doorbell.
Wow man, thank you for investing so much time and info into this product. I just purchased and excited to get it set up!!

Super happy to hear how much you love our work. Don't forget to share the channel with your friends and enjoy the new toys!
Great review….! Answered all my questions/ concerns.
How often should you charge it?
How do you charge it?
How do you recharge doorbell battery

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for watching us!
This video was very informative, thank you !
Oh it got your feet and head .. what height did you mount it ? Can i ask how tall you are

Yes they need to be connected to the same wifi and account.
Is there a extra battery to buy and replace so there’s no down time with charging?
Unfortunately no. The battery life is around 4 weeks with normal usage
Will you guys be re-looking at this when ADT/Google how these cameras will connect with the ADT app’s?
We always have a long list of different products and features we want to review, so you never know when we will get to it. Check the channel often.

Easy thank you i have looked at so many videos this is the BEST. thanks

You said at 9:50 you could download the video clips without a subscription. I don't see a way to do that.
I hope to see Gabe back on soon. He is the reason I sub to this channel.
Me too
how to charge?

Thank you so much. I saw the LINDO doorbell has dual camera too. Now I'm 8n between the eufy dual camera and the LINDO doorbell dual camera lol
So no difference between this and the previous Nest Doorbell? I’ll keep my old ones I guess!

Sounds like yours is having some problems. I would get in contact with their customer support.
Can this work with just an I pad,w email I have no phone just land line.
It requires a wifi connection.
Hi, is it safe to leave out exposed to the rain?
Yes it it waterproof.
Great video! Will there be holiday chimes in the google home app?
Not sure, you would have to ask google.
Great review 👌
Not prepared to pay the monthly subscription 😔
I have eufy and it's 2k and does it all for free.
What's it's responsiveness like?

A shame there isn't a rubber cover for the usb port to protect from dust/elements like the Eufy.
Painters tape but would be nice. Not sure but it could also be possible the mounting bracket fully encapsulates that part.
Cool!
Where is Gabe? I never watch the videos without him

The large G in the middle of the bell would stop me from buying the product. Google just could not stop themselves.
