I am a believer that this is actually Ultraman-Clone. I don't think that they'd do Ulysses this early, since he's more of a late-game Superman villain. Superman isn't even self-assured as The Last Son, yet!
Flula Borg as Ultraman could work. He's the same height and build as David Corenswet. Similar hairline, jawline and face shape. Not that they're twins. Just that they're similar enough to make it work. However, he has a strong German accent. Maybe that could work though?
I actually find it crazy that some are so bothered by the Clark Kent haircut. It literally makes him look so different along with the glasses probably the mist different Clark has ever looked to Superman which is the whole point.
I absolutely love it. It’s my hair style and I really like the look. It kinda feels nice to have that similarity to Clark. The haircut is great. I might be biased, but I don’t care. It doesn’t deserve any hate.

Before I saw the logo on the chest my first thought was "Why is Black Noir here, who is that?" Then I saw the logo and was like "oh shit it's Ultra Man!"
We are not Snyderbots for not liking the suit, we simply don't like it. I don't like the suit, because of these negatives: 1) That's not the classic symbol. I don't like the new kingdom come inspired one, looks boring, just a straight line, nothing artistic about it. Looks like a reversed Z. 2) I dislike the MCU lines on the suit. Makes the suit look too busy. And don't fit with the tranks. You have a tech-like, filled with lines suit, with boxers? 3) I dislike the material the suit is made of, and how buggy the suit is. Corenswet has gotten huge for the role, but he looks slim in that suit, it doesn't complement him, doesn't inspire awe and power, it's too cosplay-like. 4) The cape has the symbol in the back, which I like, but is too long imo. Superman's cape for me shouldn't be as long as Batman's. It should be right below the knees. 5) The belt looks so... fake. Too plastic-y. 6) I don't like how the tranks are. The belt should be lower and the tranks slimmer. The belt is right at the bellybutton, it should be lower. And the tranks should be slim, not boxers. 7) The Clark Kent look absolutely sucks!!! His hair looks like a cheap wig. As for the (very few) positives: 1) Corenswet looks like Superman, and has a great smile. 2) The colors are bright and well done. Very classic comics Superman. 3) As I said, I like the cape having the emblem in the back. Very few positives, too many negatives. They would've been better off using the CW suits instead. Can't believe I'm saying this, but the CW suits are much better. Especially the Superman and Lois ones.

I’m genuinely just happy we are getting an ACTUAL Clark Kent and Superman secret identity in this movie. That was one of the HUGEST gripes I’ve had with snyders Superman. Clark just kept telling people he was Superman basically!
Since we are getting Authority movie it could be Midnighter in the black suit or some earlier version of him going by different name before Authority os officially formed later in the timeline

SPOILERS 🚨🚨🚨 I really do think this is Ultraman, this is far from the comic adaptation which was expected but I wasn’t expecting a whole new look of the character. For now, i don’t know what I think about it, he does look too similar to Black Noir lmao. The symbol is clearly the Ultraman logo even on his belt is the U so yeah, wasn’t expecting this suit change
I'm not sold on "Ultraman". The U feels like a miss direct. I can def see this being a variation of Ulysses. He's got a costume very similar, and he also dawns Clarks Superman suit. I could see this variation as someone Lex Luthor experimented on, leading to eventually creating a full-on clone like Bizzaro &/or maybe even Conner. 🤔 Feels like something Gunn would do.😅
When they said Lanterns is the first new live-action series he means literally new. Peacemaker isn't new. It's the second season. If Lanterns releases before Waller, the statement is true.
I don't doubt that the man in black will likely be referred to as UltraMan, but the "evil Superman clone" part of it still doesn't feel right to me. I feel like giving a twist like that away is just too simple. An evil Superman clone made by Lex that presumably works for the government is just a lot of mental hoops to jump through. Part of me thinks Ultraman will either be revealed to be an entirely different highly-powered character, possibly Ulysses or Captain Atom or an Authority member like Apollo, or is kinda just a nothingburger, a mini-boss Clark has to overcome before the actual climax of the film.
Not gonna liee, when you said "an evil Superman clone made by lex that presumably works for the government..." seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Not like the comics but not every has to be like it. James Gunn changed a lot about the high evolutionary, which disappointed me at first, but turned out great
@@NoStyleDutch That's fair. To each their own, I guess. I guess I have a hard time squaring how public the scenes with Ultraman seem to be. I'd expect a character or twist like that to be kept a bit more under wraps, especially if fans could clock the clone twist as soon as they saw set photos.
@@zachdirksen8852 after looking over a lot of the theories people are having about who this is I think there's a few that are solid. Maybe even midnighter with a different outfit to differentiate him Batman. Or Ulysses. Ultra man is def one of the most likely. As far as them not doing better at keeping the secret, unless they were to only film with green screens in a closed set this was a risk. But they probably decided having the preferred production methods was more important than secrecy. Which I kinda respect.
I feel like Gunn would try to be more comics accurate so some of these theories feel like they wouldn't work. I would prefer Bizarro or Ultraman saved for a future film. I just hope he's doesn't waste a bunch of characters for the sake of it.
That new Batman trailer is amazing! And I just have to say, I don't know why, but I love that pic of Superman walking out of the Metropolis City Hall so much. You just know that's Superman from so far away because of the vibrant colors, the trunks, thick yellow belt, flowing cape, old school style lettering on the building...man. I just love it for some reason! Curious to who that certain character actually is in the movie? So excited for all of it!
If it Ulysses then they could do something where he’s a mercenary, who Lex hired and gave him powers similar to Superman to frame him. This would still make Lex scientific. Knowing James Gunn I feel like Ulysses is exactly the type of obscure villain Gunn would use lol.

I’m excited to see a green lantern on the big and small screen. Superman I have the most faith in. James Gunn has proven himself more then capable then Zack at least when it comes to audience. Here’s a hint if Snyder fans where so many then how come Rebal Moon still failed. So I’m not worried.
I just gotta say I personally think it's awesome that Zack Snyder and James Gunn whose careers both started in horror with Zack Snyder directed the Dawn of the Dead remake and James Gunn wrote the Dawn of the Dead remake and whose careers have gone in similar directions with both of them having now directed a Superman movie: Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel and James Gunn directing Superman (2025)
What if it’s a mix of Ultraman and Ulysses? Maybe Lex Luthor creates an almost identical clone and then tells him the original Ulysses origins from the comics. So Ultraman goes on to think that’s how he was born or came to be, but he is still the antagonist to kill Superman

Good question, thanks for asking! I think given the nature of me being chronically online with stuff like this, if an even bigger thing came out beyond even THIS - I feel like it'd just appear on my social feed (either that or someone sends it to me given who I am/my channel) because you know how the internet it, set photos spread like wildfire with people not respecting spoiler warnings. So, with that in mind.. I think with stuff like this I'll cover it on a case by case basis, but not spoil it in the title or thumbnail. I'll always allocate a very specific spoiler section of a video so it's completely optional for people to watch (like it is today). I'd never want to be one of those TH-camrs who put something like 'LEX'S WAR SUIT KILLS MISTER TERRIFIC' in the title, let alone put that in the thumbnail (That isn't the spoiler btw people!! lol). Having said that, if it is a crazy spoiler such as 'LEX'S WAR SUIT KILLS MISTER TERRIFIC' and I had that spoiled for myself because it spread everywhere - I wouldn't cover an example like that in a video, as that's just too far in my opinion.
The caped crusader looks so sick! I'm pretty upset HBO passed on this, but glad it was kept alive. The trailer song is Sicilian Defense by Rok Nardin. Epic choice, hoping it's used in the main series and not just the trailer. It was always my go-to for a Vampire playlist for D&D but it's super fitting for Batman too.
A Superman clone is a terrible idea. Another possibility is a new Midnighter or Apollo using Ultraman as a starting out name. Midnighter only needs a few modifications and it would hide Apollo’s shine. It may transition better to the Authority movie.
Great job as always Boba!! On a complete side note regarding the supes costume. The initial reveal, I could appreciate a lot, but the collar bothered me , but the slight (apparent?) change where it opens up in the front in a u/v shape...actually makes a big difference to me. I'm not sure why but, it works better and now I'm actually a fan (gasp!!) ?
There is little buzz for this film and maybe that is why they didn't hide the 'U' symbol? To try to get people talking about the movie? That's my guess, but these set photos have just divided fans - Screen Rant has a story about half of fans hating the suit and half loving it. More worrisome is that many general film podcasts (not superhero focused podcasts) are thinking this film is a parody of superheroes given the weird fitting Superman suit with it making him look like he has a gut and not a six-pack. The odds are stacked against this film and so far the marketing does not seem to be turning things around. I still think Superman will break even (525 million) but it could go south if Gunn doesn't engage the GA which he hasn't so far.
Its way to early to to guess the success of movie, especially based on the audience perception or advertising of the film. Most of the people that are hating on this are a loud minority who just wants henry cavill or Zack Snyder back. And they really are like 5% of the people who would watch the movie. Until we see the first trailer at the superbowl next year, we cant really say what the general audience would think.
I think the thing about the "First New" thing is about this being the first new live action DC show, as peacemaker is in season 2. So the releases seem to be creater commandos in December, superman next July, Peacemaker s2 next fall/winter, then Lanterns and supergirl in the first half of 2026
6:18 -- That's definitely Ultraman - the version that is weakened by the yellow Sun, hence why he is totally covered up like Black Noir. He's got ultra strength, ultra vision -- he's pretty much like Superman but Kryptonite is the source of his power.
I think what they said about lanterns makes sense. Peacemaker isn't considered new cause it's season 2 so it will in fact be the 1st live action DCU series. Which means Waller will probably be after Lanterns
Wonder when we'll get our first teaser for Superman. Not unprecedented to get something a year out, so wondering if they could have something ready to play with Deadpool and Wolverine towards the end of July. If not that, maybe Beetlejuice 2 in September.
Viewing a lot of podcasts since the set photos a large group are saying they don't feel the film. Not a good sign. What if WBD determines early next year that Superman will do very poorly? Is there a chance they will drop the theatrical release and go straight to streaming? Zaslav can't afford for the first film to miss, or he is out of a job. I've seen several folks say Zaslav would do that in a NY minute to save his job. At the least they will have to change release dates as both JW and FF have much more buzz and Superman will be crushed between them.

I really wish they gave Rick Flag Sr white hair. Because even though the actor is nearly 60, he looks like he's 45. At least the white beard like he has in the promo art for creater commandos, but it just looks like his normal beard.
I think that tweet from James addressing the ultraman rumors was more confirmation than a denial. The way he stated it saying the MAIN antagonist is lex luthor is far from a denial because obviously lex created ultra man and it’s a villain not portrayed in live action yet so I’d be pumped for an ultra man in this film. With everything we know so far who else villain wise is matched to Superman’s physical strength. If there is government intervention with superheroes then them enlisting lex to create someone physically capable of fighting him is a very strong possibility
I hope that it is not Ultraman as it is far to early to have a mirror match for superman. And making it a clone of superman to me feels cheap almost ruining what could be a good portrayal of superman by making him less special, if he is to be cloned it should be Bazaro or superboy no one else as they are both unique enough to stand on their own.

I think it will be a clone much like Superior man was in Red son. They'll call him Ultra man, he will frame Superman and wears a mask to disguise his identity, but through the course of the movie he will start to deteriorate until he becomes Bizzaro.

I think it's more likely it's Ulysses and not ultraman as it looks just like his costume with a U and mask. Because if it is just ultraman, then with the fact that it just looks like Black Noir and it would be a Superman clone, then that would just be the twist from the Boys comic. Also, I feel if they end up doing the Superman clone in this universe, they will save it for Superboy later down the line.

I didn't, those arent the spoilers! The picture you're referring to at the beginning is just one of Superman, like the one's everyone has seen recently just showing the suit (and not much detail at that). The actual spoilers are something else entirely (Trust me on that haha) and of course I wouldn't put that at the beginning while also saying that I'll give a very clear warning when I'll get into them.

I mean that’s gotta be midnighter from the authority, it even looks like the triangle symbol on the suit, while yes it does look like a U , If you look closer you can see a triangle in the middle and as the bottom of the U is rounding up it’s a little darker. All I’m saying is that if the engineer is right there it only makes sense, I have a hard time ultra man would be arresting him, it just doesn’t add up to me.
LANTERNS is one of the projects i'm the most excited for maybe the most one of the officially announced ones! Need the castings of Hal Jordan and John Stewart asap! I’m happy with how everything and everyone looks. I really like the color palette. His suit reminds me of NASCAR clothing or what people wear when racing sports motorcycles.

I really do think this is Ultraman, this is far from the comic adaptation which was expected but I wasn’t expecting a whole new look of the character. For now, i don’t know what I think about it, he does look too similar to Black Noir lmao. The symbol is clearly the Ultraman logo even on his belt is the U so yeah, wasn’t expecting this suit change

I'm not sold on "Ultraman". The U feels like a miss direct. I can def see this being a variation of Ulysses. He's got a costume very similar, and he also dawns Clarks Superman suit. I could see this variation as someone Lex Luthor experimented on, leading to eventually creating a full-on clone like Bizzaro &/or maybe even Conner. 🤔 Feels like something Gunn would do.😅
When they said Lanterns is the first new live-action series he means literally new. Peacemaker isn't new. It's the second season. If Lanterns releases before Waller, the statement is true.

I don't doubt that the man in black will likely be referred to as UltraMan, but the "evil Superman clone" part of it still doesn't feel right to me. I feel like giving a twist like that away is just too simple. An evil Superman clone made by Lex that presumably works for the government is just a lot of mental hoops to jump through. Part of me thinks Ultraman will either be revealed to be an entirely different highly-powered character, possibly Ulysses or Captain Atom or an Authority member like Apollo, or is kinda just a nothingburger, a mini-boss Clark has to overcome before the actual climax of the film.
Not gonna liee, when you said "an evil Superman clone made by lex that presumably works for the government..." seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Not like the comics but not every has to be like it. James Gunn changed a lot about the high evolutionary, which disappointed me at first, but turned out great
@@NoStyleDutch That's fair. To each their own, I guess. I guess I have a hard time squaring how public the scenes with Ultraman seem to be. I'd expect a character or twist like that to be kept a bit more under wraps, especially if fans could clock the clone twist as soon as they saw set photos.

As far as them not doing better at keeping the secret, unless they were to only film with green screens in a closed set this was a risk. But they probably decided having the preferred production methods was more important than secrecy. Which I kinda respect.
I feel like Gunn would try to be more comics accurate so some of these theories feel like they wouldn't work. I would prefer Bizarro or Ultraman saved for a future film. I just hope he's doesn't waste a bunch of characters for the sake of it.
Gunns job is to make a good/great movie. no story in comic book movies is ever 100% comic accurate

That new Batman trailer is amazing! And I just have to say, I don't know why, but I love that pic of Superman walking out of the Metropolis City Hall so much. You just know that's Superman from so far away because of the vibrant colors, the trunks, thick yellow belt, flowing cape, old school style lettering on the building...man. I just love it for some reason! Curious to who that certain character actually is in the movie? So excited for all of it!
If it Ulysses then they could do something where he’s a mercenary, who Lex hired and gave him powers similar to Superman to frame him. This would still make Lex scientific. Knowing James Gunn I feel like Ulysses is exactly the type of obscure villain Gunn would use lol.

I’m excited to see a green lantern on the big and small screen. Superman I have the most faith in. James Gunn has proven himself more then capable then Zack at least when it comes to audience. Here’s a hint if Snyder fans where so many then how come Rebal Moon still failed. So I’m not worried.
I just gotta say I personally think it's awesome that Zack Snyder and James Gunn whose careers both started in horror with Zack Snyder directed the Dawn of the Dead remake and James Gunn wrote the Dawn of the Dead remake and whose careers have gone in similar directions with both of them having now directed a Superman movie: Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel and James Gunn directing Superman (2025)
What if it’s a mix of Ultraman and Ulysses? Maybe Lex Luthor creates an almost identical clone and then tells him the original Ulysses origins from the comics. So Ultraman goes on to think that’s how he was born or came to be, but he is still the antagonist to kill Superman

Good question, thanks for asking! I think given the nature of me being chronically online with stuff like this, if an even bigger thing came out beyond even THIS - I feel like it'd just appear on my social feed (either that or someone sends it to me given who I am/my channel) because you know how the internet it, set photos spread like wildfire with people not respecting spoiler warnings. So, with that in mind.. I think with stuff like this I'll cover it on a case by case basis, but not spoil it in the title or thumbnail. I'll always allocate a very specific spoiler section of a video so it's completely optional for people to watch (like it is today). I'd never want to be one of those TH-camrs who put something like 'LEX'S WAR SUIT KILLS MISTER TERRIFIC' in the title, let alone put that in the thumbnail (That isn't the spoiler btw people!! lol). Having said that, if it is a crazy spoiler such as 'LEX'S WAR SUIT KILLS MISTER TERRIFIC' and I had that spoiled for myself because it spread everywhere - I wouldn't cover an example like that in a video, as that's just too far in my opinion.
The caped crusader looks so sick! I'm pretty upset HBO passed on this, but glad it was kept alive. The trailer song is Sicilian Defense by Rok Nardin. Epic choice, hoping it's used in the main series and not just the trailer. It was always my go-to for a Vampire playlist for D&D but it's super fitting for Batman too.

A Superman clone is a terrible idea. Another possibility is a new Midnighter or Apollo using Ultraman as a starting out name. Midnighter only needs a few modifications and it would hide Apollo’s shine. It may transition better to the Authority movie.

Great job as always Boba!! On a complete side note regarding the supes costume. The initial reveal, I could appreciate a lot, but the collar bothered me , but the slight (apparent?) change where it opens up in the front in a u/v shape...actually makes a big difference to me. I'm not sure why but, it works better and now I'm actually a fan (gasp!!) ?
There is little buzz for this film and maybe that is why they didn't hide the 'U' symbol? To try to get people talking about the movie? That's my guess, but these set photos have just divided fans - Screen Rant has a story about half of fans hating the suit and half loving it. More worrisome is that many general film podcasts (not superhero focused podcasts) are thinking this film is a parody of superheroes given the weird fitting Superman suit with it making him look like he has a gut and not a six-pack. The odds are stacked against this film and so far the marketing does not seem to be turning things around. I still think Superman will break even (525 million) but it could go south if Gunn doesn't engage the GA which he hasn't so far.
Its way to early to to guess the success of movie, especially based on the audience perception or advertising of the film.
Most of the people that are hating on this are a loud minority who just wants henry cavill or Zack Snyder back. And they really are like 5% of the people who would watch the movie.
Until we see the first trailer at the superbowl next year, we cant really say what the general audience would think.
I think the thing about the "First New" thing is about this being the first new live action DC show, as peacemaker is in season 2. So the releases seem to be creater commandos in December, superman next July, Peacemaker s2 next fall/winter, then Lanterns and supergirl in the first half of 2026

Viewing a lot of podcasts since the set photos a large group are saying they don't feel the film. Not a good sign. What if WBD determines early next year that Superman will do very poorly? Is there a chance they will drop the theatrical release and go straight to streaming? Zaslav can't afford for the first film to miss, or he is out of a job. I've seen several folks say Zaslav would do that in a NY minute to save his job. At the least they will have to change release dates as both JW and FF have much more buzz and Superman will be crushed between them.

I think that tweet from James addressing the ultraman rumors was more confirmation than a denial. The way he stated it saying the MAIN antagonist is lex luthor is far from a denial because obviously lex created ultra man and it’s a villain not portrayed in live action yet so I’d be pumped for an ultra man in this film. With everything we know so far who else villain wise is matched to Superman’s physical strength. If there is government intervention with superheroes then them enlisting lex to create someone physically capable of fighting him is a very strong possibility
I hope that it is not Ultraman as it is far to early to have a mirror match for superman. And making it a clone of superman to me feels cheap almost ruining what could be a good portrayal of superman by making him less special, if he is to be cloned it should be Bazaro or superboy no one else as they are both unique enough to stand on their own.

I think it will be a clone much like Superior man was in Red son. They'll call him Ultra man, he will frame Superman and wears a mask to disguise his identity, but through the course of the movie he will start to deteriorate until he becomes Bizzaro.

I think it's more likely it's Ulysses and not ultraman as it looks just like his costume with a U and mask. Because if it is just ultraman, then with the fact that it just looks like Black Noir and it would be a Superman clone, then that would just be the twist from the Boys comic. Also, I feel if they end up doing the Superman clone in this universe, they will save it for Superboy later down the line.

I didn't, those arent the spoilers! The picture you're referring to at the beginning is just one of Superman, like the one's everyone has seen recently just showing the suit (and not much detail at that). The actual spoilers are something else entirely (Trust me on that haha) and of course I wouldn't put that at the beginning while also saying that I'll give a very clear warning when I'll get into them.

I mean that’s gotta be midnighter from the authority, it even looks like the triangle symbol on the suit, while yes it does look like a U , If you look closer you can see a triangle in the middle and as the bottom of the U is rounding up it’s a little darker. All I’m saying is that if the engineer is right there it only makes sense, I have a hard time ultra man would be arresting him, it just doesn’t add up to me.

That being Ultrman is a really bad take, it would mean James Gunn has no idea what he's doing and has never read the comics, and has zero interest in sticking to the source material. But we all know that ain't the case. It's Ulysses or someone else.
