    lol "if it's too long watch in 5 minute bites" lol you crack me up. and I encourage you to accept your commission for instant pot and other products you believe in. It iz not easy making videos and answering the same questions over and over. A week before I discovered your videos, my husband wanted to buy a pressure cooker and I didn't want it because all I could see was him cooking pot roast. Then after seeing your videos and cooking videos, I wanted one and he couldn't believe it. Accept your commissions. You are earning that $$ and don't let people make you feel bad about it. 😄😄😄😄

    Thanks AJ for the great videos! To cook a single serving of oats in the IPot, put oats and liquid in a small Pyrex bowl, place in IPot on the trivet with 2 cups of water in the bottom of the IPot. Oats cook as usual and don't need to clean the IPot afterwards.

    Kenny,
    You can cook a single serving in an instant pot. You just may need to set it up like a double boiler depending on what you are cooking. I am single and cook for myself in my Instant Pot daily. It's great!
    I haven't cooked oat groats yet but I will. I generally cook 300 calories worth of oatmeal. Rolled oats can go directly into the Instant Pot but steel cut is half of the bulk so I put a silicone trivet and 1 cup of water in the Instant Pot and then cook the oats in another container inside the pot. I just use a wide mouth mason jar. Just because that's what I have on hand. You can probably find directions online, maybe even on TH-cam. I do recommend looking it up because you will probably need a bit less water in the oats. I also find that I like to let my oats sit for a bit before I remove them from the Instant Pot. 😊

    Chef AJ, thank you for this video series, it's fantastic! I just wanted to say that humans can convert carbohydrates into fat through
    de novo lipogenesis, it is just not a super efficient way to make fat and takes more energy. I believe that Dr Doug Lisle stated that in one of your interviews with him and it's an important distinction. Thank you for your veggie inspiration! I now eat a lb of broccoli with my starches... 😋

      I just saw the next comment, yes you should absolutely take commissions, you deserve it. I don't understand the people that object to that, nobody works for free and I can tell you put a lot of effort into all these recipes so that people can get good use out of this appliance. it's perfectly acceptable to be paid. I think as long as it comes along with a stipulation that a person can always be truthful about the items they're sponsoring, then they're still keeping their integrity. Good luck!

    It's very good of you to buy highly addictive/palatable 'props' to explain your answer to a question- what do you do with these things, by the way? Do you dispose of them or give it away? It's funny that some people complain about the length of the videos: everyone's free to watch in chunks whenever they have time or not to watch at all. These videos make my chores a lot more bearable lol :)

    Chef AJ, you must try kohlrabi! It's like a cabbage apple. I grow it and eat it like jicama or grate it for salads and slaws. I really think you would like it!

    I definitely agree with 99.9% of what Chef AJ 'promotes', but there is one thing I question - When I compare every element of Whole Oats and Quick Oats, they are exactly the same. I hear some saying that the Quick Oats are not as healthy, but unfortunately with me having digestive issues due to a hernia (currently), the Quick Oats keep my digestive track calm. I have tried the other oats on several occasions, and it interferes with my digestion like no tomorrow.

    • @theartificialsociety3373
      @theartificialsociety3373 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alexander The Great it's not the nutritional content that matters as a difference. Why it matters is that whole oats will get processed by your body a little slower. So if you watched your blood sugar response during the digestion process over time you would see a larger spike in blood sugar with more processed foods. By having a longer processing time it can help with hunger and help people that have trouble with blood sugar control (diabetes issues). Wholer foods when chewed normally result in more undigested material to get into the lower parts of the gut which feed the important bacteria in your entire gut instead of just the upper gut. And one last reason is wholer food will result in more calories just not getting digested at all so the same volume of food will have fewer calories regardless if what package may say for calories. As far as digestion, it makes you poop more and feeding lower gut bacteria is a good thing but may take a little time to adjust. But either way, quick oats are still a great food and if your in a good state with your health then it's fine. If one struggles with weight despite good diet then they may have to go wholer.

      I agree with your assessment. I think what I need to try, is soaking the whole Oats overnight or at a few hours and see if that helps. I have read that before, but just never dowsed into doing it yet. Thank you for the reply.

      Thank you for reassuring that information, Chef AJ. I do have some food addictions, but those are things like chips, peanut butter, etc. Oats aren't a problem for me, as I have been eating them for a couple of decades now (and with weight loss intact).

    Hello Chef AJ:) yesterday my friends were talking about what is healthy to eat in the evening while watching a movie, so I said that I make Yonanas, or tea with dates, and one lady said , oh any fruit and specially bananas are bad for you if you eat them before bed, I just ignored it, cause we never have problems in my family from eating bananas at night, but why she would say that ... I would like to hear your opinion:) You are always so sweet to answer here in comments:), thank you:)

    Was it Dr. Lisle that said we can convert carbs into body fat? It just takes more energy to do so and our bodies don't necessarily want to do that.

    Before I write my comment I must tell you that I have subscribed to all your venues. I have seen you with no make up in a previous video when you were 2 hours late, episode 11. I have to comment on your no make-up look. In my opinion you are more attractive in a natural look, all the eye make up you wear takes away from your pretty natural face. Just one 71 year old who has learned that make-up makes me look older because it shows all the wrinkles.

      I am surprised you answered with the daily schedule you must have, thank you. I sis not mean my comment as an insult. It was an observation to let you know that you are an attractive vibrant lady. Also thank you for all the advice you share on all you sites to which I subscribe. I am 71 and will keep on striving for a healthy way of eating

    Don't carbs turn to sugar in the body?

    • @MilkAndCornbreadd
      @MilkAndCornbreadd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, but it is natural sugar that we use for energy. Table sugar or White sugar is a processed food, which is a simple carbohydrate that is not healthy and raises insulin in our body. Complex Carbohydrates are what you want to consume. Examples are: Rice, Beans, Potatoes (White or Sweet), Corn, Oats, etc.
