    As mentioned in another comment, I do see a noticible difference between Chill and Standard modes in my driving. Model Y 2023 RWD Shanghai 3D7. Since I do not have faith in my own driving, I stick to Chill mode, else I accelerate too fast.
    In your measurements I see no diff between the two modes till 50 mph. for me, I think there is, but I have no way to measure that safely.
    Thanks for this video

    @plasmapuff ปีที่แล้ว +9

    There is an obvious dip in the road which would have aided acceleration (-1.2% gradient). Would have been good to do it on level ground. That’s why your times are faster than the official.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yup hence why the RaceBox device had corrected times

    • @notinthemanual
      @notinthemanual ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve also tried a bit further down towards the Showgrounds late at night and got same slope reading as you did. It looked much more level there. M2 motorway isn’t level either. I haven’t tried M4 or M7 but you’d need to go late at night.

  • @pegefounder
    @pegefounder ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ok, I will purchase the “max 210 km/h” sticker. The cheapest winter tires are only for 210 km/h. This is allowed when there is a sticker on the dashboard “max 210 km/h”.
    Thought to avoid this by limiting speed, but at limiting speed, as the manual is written, changes to the low acceleration mode.

  • @TheTruePhoenixAU
    @TheTruePhoenixAU ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I find you really feel the acceleration from a rolling start (which screams its manually limited). If your driving around and slow down to ~30 then need to get back to 100 it does that VERY quickly. You can also appreciate the torque and power much better going up a slight hill and around corners where it can still feel super powerful and fast.
    Anyway it would be interesting to see the difference at something like that, jumping from a 40 to 100 (like you do when a road works ends on a freeway).
    I've never owned a performance model but test driving them I really only notice it taking off from a dead stop, and even then its still mutiple times better than any standard petrol car out there. You've just been spoilt for too long! Going from a 2.4L 4cyc FWD to this was still a massive step up!

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I really have been spoilt 😁
      Check out the last part of my video where I compare all the graphs: you’ll see the difference in the mid acceleration curve between the Y and 3 Performance!

    • @graememills7778
      @graememills7778 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree, I have the RWD, when packed with the family and loaded with luggage I find the cars acceleration to be ample, particularly when rolling above 30kph as you've indicated it pulls quite well. Fast enough when the family is on board anyway. I think it's a combination of zero gearbox / gear change and instant torque.

  • @mariusmeyer14
    @mariusmeyer14 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Very interesting the difference is not great though but I think that with a software update Tesla can let the vehicle switch automatically from chill to standard acceleration depending on the quickness of the pedal movement . This might help in an avoidance maneuver don't you think?

  • @ThatPerthFan
    @ThatPerthFan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah, its only a second slower - but in my 23 Model 3, it is so much more comfortable to drive in Chill mode. Standard seems like a very annoying way to drive the car because it's very touchy. That's my 2 cents. Wouldn't pick a different car to buy at the price point though.

    Wow not much difference between Standard and Chill. I always wondered if Chill mode would be slower than 7s to 100km/h in a RWD/SR. I think Chill in the Performance 3/Y are all around 7ish from memory, so it does seem all the variants have the same soft lock perhaps. But to be fair, ~6-7s is plenty fast compared to those ~8-13s ICE cars!

      Only the performance is quoted with rollout. If you visit the page and scroll down to Model Y Specs you can see it-
      Performance
      *Acceleration
      3.7 s 0-100km/h
      with rollout subtracted
      RWD
      Acceleration
      6.9 s 0-100km/h
      Long Range AWD
      Acceleration
      5.0 s 0-100km/h
      Pedantic I know but no one is getting even close to 0-100km in 3.7s in the MYP , I’ve not seen any Australian numbers under 4.0, most around 4.1-4.2 which is very disappointing given the hype ( and I own one)
      M3P is also quoted with rollout subtracted to get the claimed 3.3s

    3:44 Great comparison of charts. If we're going for sub 6s times anyway, I think the G-Force is a notable metric to gauge how tread wear differs between the two. Makes me curious how this compared to a FWD car with around 181lbft hp or 245 Nm of torque. (Versus the ~400Nm for the Model Y RWD).

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What Motor is in your Y RWD ? 3D7, 3D6 or 4D1? In germany all Model Y RWD build in China with CATL Battery have the 3D7 Motor with only 88kW constant 30min power and all new Y RWD build in Germany with BYD Battery currently have the 3D6 Performance Motor and 100kW constant 30min power. Should be a little bit faster :)

    • @adisurd
      @adisurd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not know that the 3D6 was a more powerful motor than the 3D7. I got a 3D7 in NL because I picked up an inventory car in end of March. I have the 3D7 (got that from the VIN check, not sure if there is another way to find that info).
      To my un-sientific gut feeling there is a significant difference in acceleration in Chill vs Standard. I keep it in Chill 99% of the time because I tend to hit the pedal real hard, so for my own safety I keep it in Chill (MY RWD Shanghai 2023)

      It's nice being slightly higher off the ground and the ride quality is much better in the 2023 Y compared to the 2019 3. The AMD Ryzen powered Y infotainment screen seems to be more responsive than the Intel powered 2019 3. There are also other minor things eg better sound insulation in the Y. Of course the compromise is that the acceleration is slower in the new Y
