On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair ... That's exactly what we experienced while taping this video in Palmdale/California. The music was recorded in our studio in 2008 - drums, guitars, vocals all by ourselves. Bass by our dad Rudi.

This video was filmed near Palmdale, north of Los Angeles on 20 July 2008. At this time the girls was aged 14 years, one month and 4 days.

Of course it is us playing the song. Lisa on the guitar, mona on the drums, both on the vocals and our dad on the bass.
We recorded the song at the studio after we shot the music video to the original track so we wouldn't have to worry about not getting done in time.

When these incredibly talented girls recorded this they were only 14 years old, it is almost beyond comprehension that they could have done such a superb job on this song, especially the guitar solo at the end at their age, completely unbelievable!

August 23, 2021: 1,000,000 views. Best cover of this song out there (IMO), but I'd love to see MLT redo it.
Its difficult to do a good cover of a classic, because very little needs to be added. This is as good a cover as I've ever heard of this song. Very very good.

Love it when Lisa cuts loose on the solo at the end. And there's lots of really good guitar embellishments throughout the song. These girls are class, just as they were when they recorded this at such a young age.

A guitar-playing friend of mine once said that in order for a cover to be worthwhile the new artist had to make it their own - they had to impart their own unique take on it. Not different from the original for the sake of being different, but a unique interpretation that added to it or expanded the original. The Mona-Lisa Twins are blessed in this regard: they have been able to take classic song and add their own unique touch to it, making it their own. If only they had been born in the 50's...

I am in Toronto for some ballgames so it gives me the opportunity to comment on MLTs site for Hotel California. Definitely the most advanced of the "California" songs and videos. Fantastic, and I enjoyed learning about the back story of the video as a club member. People will have to join to learn about it--my lips are sealed!

Perhaps not absolute, but considering that they were for this recording only 14 years old, you can really say: Better than the Eagles!
Young people can be extremely talented mimics, as they don't have 20-30 years of "life" to have struggled with, just a performance. Child prodigies going back to Shirley Temple up to kids on TV talent shows today. If they stick with it they become legends and break out of that box, like Fred Astaire, the Beatles, Tiger Woods. Then there are talented musicians who can reproduce catalogues of a successful band's body of work (tribute bands), but being the original and creating new work is the hard part. That too falls under the umbrella of "better".
