- This time I will bring you a fun loop form! Different from the previous multi-part ensemble, it is possible to complete a piece of music in one go, and the process is quite interesting~
The use of guitar in Hotel California can be regarded as one of the classic arrangements in history, especially the 1994 live version. So I made some deletions in the vocal part, focusing on the two guitar solos of the prelude and the ending. Hope you like it!
The costume this time is Wei Jin style wide-sleeved cross-collared Hanfu. For the convenience of plucking the instrument, panbo are added. (襻膊, pàn bó, originated from the Song Dynasty, a tool used to roll up the sleeves for easy operation), the hat is a hand-woven straw hat, the overall mix and match looks relatively "plain", and it feels like the rice planting will start in the next second hahahahahahaha~

At 15 yrs old, The Eagles was my very first concert . It was the original line-up of the band and when they did this song it was Magical !! Now at 62 listening to this musical genus play their version, I am in aw . Thank you for this precious memory .

This is an amazing arrangement for this instrument. Guzheng is usually tuned to pentatonic scale, which does not have all the notes naturally that are necessary to articulate Hotel California. This musician demonstrated comprehensive technical skills and deep understanding of Guzheng to be able to fit Hotel California into an arrangement on an instrument which essentially has 5 pentatonic notes.
I play guitar and the very first thing that came to mind was this must be fun to restring and tune LOL! Sounds beautiful and looks like a very well made instrument and I do not want to know what this example would cost as I am sure it's not cheap. Almost looks like it has more in common with a piano rather than a guitar BUT I know not a damn thing about this instrument.
Not sure if this one was tuned to pentatonic. The strings were coloured like diatonic.

Guzhen normally tuned to pentatonic but left hand can push the string down which create all the notes a guitar can play. The truth is most guzhen players in china are basic level players who can’t explore the guzhen potential like this amazing master can do. On top of that, she demonstrated guzhen is not only sounds great for traditional Chinese music but sounds jaw dropping for western music too
@@irisge5609 I'm pretty sure this has been tuned diatonic - if you look at 1:00 in the video you can get a good look at the strings and they are green / 2 white / red / 3 white - so if the red are green strings are the semitones would give you 8 notes per octave with a TTSTTTS pattern, which exactly matches the diatonic scale.

The application of the instrument to play that song is quite possibly original. The song and arrangement are an Eagles composition, and a variation of the original Hotel California composition as heard on their "Hell Freezes Over" album from 1994.
This is just awesome and one of the best versions of Hotel California that I have ever heard. What a amazing artist and blessed we are to hear this music.

One of the best and most unique musical arrangement for Hotel California “Hell freezes over” version I have ever heard.. many of us guitarist simply play this piece in the traditional way with acoustic guitars but this piece you did so well with the Guzheng is truly superb..
