- This time I will bring you a fun loop form! Different from the previous multi-part ensemble, it is possible to complete a piece of music in one go, and the process is quite interesting~
The use of guitar in Hotel California can be regarded as one of the classic arrangements in history, especially the 1994 live version. So I made some deletions in the vocal part, focusing on the two guitar solos of the prelude and the ending. Hope you like it!
The costume this time is Wei Jin style wide-sleeved cross-collared Hanfu. For the convenience of plucking the instrument, panbo are added. (襻膊, pàn bó, originated from the Song Dynasty, a tool used to roll up the sleeves for easy operation), the hat is a hand-woven straw hat, the overall mix and match looks relatively "plain", and it feels like the rice planting will start in the next second hahahahahahaha~

This is an amazing arrangement for this instrument. Guzheng is usually tuned to pentatonic scale, which does not have all the notes naturally that are necessary to articulate Hotel California. This musician demonstrated comprehensive technical skills and deep understanding of Guzheng to be able to fit Hotel California into an arrangement on an instrument which essentially has 5 pentatonic notes.
I play guitar and the very first thing that came to mind was this must be fun to restring and tune LOL! Sounds beautiful and looks like a very well made instrument and I do not want to know what this example would cost as I am sure it's not cheap. Almost looks like it has more in common with a piano rather than a guitar BUT I know not a damn thing about this instrument.
Not sure if this one was tuned to pentatonic. The strings were coloured like diatonic.
I have never heard of Guzheng before today. Now I might be obsessed. Can you recommend any resources to learn more?
Guzhen normally tuned to pentatonic but left hand can push the string down which create all the notes a guitar can play. The truth is most guzhen players in china are basic level players who can’t explore the guzhen potential like this amazing master can do. On top of that, she demonstrated guzhen is not only sounds great for traditional Chinese music but sounds jaw dropping for western music too
@@irisge5609 I'm pretty sure this has been tuned diatonic - if you look at 1:00 in the video you can get a good look at the strings and they are green / 2 white / red / 3 white - so if the red are green strings are the semitones would give you 8 notes per octave with a TTSTTTS pattern, which exactly matches the diatonic scale.

As an American who was a teen in the 70's and a huge fan of the Eagles, this was wonderful.

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and went to jail. I found God and now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. The Hell Freezes Over acoustic version of Hotel California was my first exposure to the Eagles when I was about 11. It remains my favorite version of the song, and you nailed nearly EVERY nuance of the recording on what appears to be a very challenging instrument - one not usually tuned for such things to begin with. An absolute masterpiece in its own right - very well done!

@ferretyluv yeah, the original came out in 1976 I believe. It's good and is definitely a classic, but something about the acoustic version is both stripped down but more complex/nuanced at the same time, if that makes sense? Just a masterful version of the song...it'll always be my favorite.
I saw that concert when the tour was in San Jose. They opened with this version of Hotel California. Yes, the original was with electric guitars. I much prefer this one, but both are great in their own right.
The player is absolutely amazing. It was 1994 when this version of the song Hotel California was released from the Hell Freezes Over Album. It was 18 years after the original version came out. I love this version better, maybe I was middle-aged at that time. Now I am 63 and I still prefer this version more the original version or the one that they played in their world tour about 20 years ago, starting with a trumpet played by a supporting musician. Always love this great song by the Eagles.

This was my favorite instrument as a child, and your playing made my mind soar, and I was transported back to my childhood, but it felt so different. It's green tea mixed with Blue Mountain coffee. It's totally impossible when you don't hear it, but you'll fall in love with it when you actually taste it.
