The negligence of RDO is truly a blunder on R*'s part. They really discarded a live service that had the potential to be as good if not better than GTAO.
when it first came out i was so happy about the idea of it getting the same amount of DLCs that gtao got , of course this is not reality :(

@@aaxel_dzSay what you will about GTA Online, but it has a fuck ton of content and you literally never run out of shit to do. They've supported it constantly for the last 10 years and it really shows. Not all the content is S-tier, but a lot of it is excellent stuff. There's plenty of stuff to spend your cash on, and there's a good sense of progression. The same can't be said for RDO. RDO is unfortunately a slog that has no real progression, nothing besides clothes and weapons to spend your cash on, very few properties or businesses, no heists, etc.
I think in 2024 they will completely abandon RDO. They will get into development hell with GTA 6 and need to devote all resources towards that until release, and also to patch it after release and make DLC. The last real update to RDO was Blood Money, released in July 2021. Since then this has been the "finished" game, a harsh truth that we should have accepted literally years ago.
It has such detail and world depth even online this easily could’ve made just as much money as gta online. Maybe more, if they would just genuinely show it some effort and love. Add private properties, inside and outside main towns, make em stupid expensive so players realllyy need to grind for it but also add invite only lobbies, finish the story (where is that famed grace lancing) and add actual bank heists/prison breakout missions. I promise attacking sisika is gonna be more fun than trying to break that dude out of the prison in gta v. There’s like a dozen different types of wagons too. They could have made them purchasable and customizable. Boats too. It’d be awesome to own a nice lil motorboat and be able to just go out on flat iron lake fishing with friends whenever you want to.
Guess you never heard that rockstar completely changed their work environment.. to get rid of crunch..

The world of RDO is so immersive and interesting. I keep coming back but am close to finishing all content and it's so sad they're letting this masterpiece go to waste. I understand GTA 6 will be amazing but this game isn't that old.
As someone who played gta online for years before I even tried to play rdo, rdo is so much more fun even with half the content

This honestly just breaks my heart to see this game in such a bad position. Its quite literally the only large open world multiplayer game I've ever liked since Destiny 1, hope they give it some justice or at least sell the online IP of it to some other company.
Sadly despite the numbers going up we know the reality is that the game itself has been dead since 2021 and the onky thing that keeps this game alive is the wonderful community. We are all we have. We are like Arthur tryna save the gang meanwhile Rockstar is Dutch.

I genuinely want to know what was going at rockstar during this time. How do you spend so much time making one of the most beautiful immersive and detailed filled world in all of gaming, just to basically completely abandon it after launch ?
Perhaps once they saw the constant low player counts playing RDO v other games, they thought it was too niche and decided to pull the financial plug, if it’s not going to earn them money v amount of time money and resources to grow it, why do it….basic business ROI
Because they made a fatal error when they released the game.
They made premium currency far too easy to get, and subsequently didn’t charge enough or have items to warrant spending premium currency on. So players hoarded gold.
That sank them.

@@Synpathetix I’d be fine with it too. Like a complete server reset of all money and gold. You keep your items and clothes. They come out with a new premium currency and new items/roles/etc.

It's sad but I do think the time is passed for it. There has been tons of new players to the story mode and some trying RDO. I don't think business wise it makes much sense for them to make the kind of profit they would say is good. I don't see them letting it basically sit for almost 3 yrs without someone saying hey there is money to be made here. GTA Online definitely had it rough patches but they never removed support. As u know they only just bring old stuff back or things that have been in files but they finally released from yrs ago. I really wish they would, but for them to not at least acknowledge Red Dead Online at least once since announcing they removed main support other than monthly events of recycled stuff in newswires and not even talking about player count this year like previous is telling. I think they will have their hands full keeping up GTA Online and the new version of whatever GTA online (GTA 6) at the same time as there is no way they get rid of the old one just yet as it makes millions. Also I am sure this time GTA 6 most likely will get future DLCs as well unlike planned ones for part 5. Them removing support tells us everything as it is unheard of a developer removing support for yrs and then coming back to a live service game. Also the RDO model now is great business for them as it gets the players that do join probably drop $20 - $40 on gold bars to start and once the did everything they move on about rank 150-200 and rinse and repeat with new players.
That makes a lot of sense actually.
I think you are right. I haven't played in months after starting to play for the first time in April 2023. I got everything in the game fairly easy and missions got pretty boring fast. Back when I started if I knew they removed support for GTA 6 I would have never started playing as now it all does seems such a waste. I quit about rank 166

To be honest, ban wave has a negative effect by my vision, because now in every lobby when you're joining you're instantly being killed by some modder. On PC its literally every lobby.

I don't understand, if they completely let it go for people to play GTA online instead. I think a lot of people playing RDO is not playing GTA online - me included. That game is not for me.
They probably think RDO players will just pick up GTA 6. They are wrong in my case. I loved RDO and only ever played GTA 5 to get he unique revolver from the serial killer. Luckily got the game on Epic for free and I never touched it after that. I don't dig the modern urban criminal vibe.
CTA on my lvl 19 with randoms, all out of tonics, wave 10, one team member left by my side, nothing but regular ammo left in my single revolver, up in the barn in caliga hall overrun by enemies, nothing as fun in gta. We failed but it was GGs all around.
I have all the last GTAs and I'm truly bored of GTA anything. I will not buy #6, but may consider RDR3 if there is one... it better come with private lobbies though because that would be a deal breaker.

There aren’t many cowboy games out there. Red Dead is just such a breath of fresh air from most games. Such a shame Rockstar and Take 2 only care about money

I personally think, Rockster is quite behind schedules of GTV 6. Thats why theyre pulling alot of resources from rdo. I am betting, when gtv 6 is under control. They will start forcing on rest of other rockster games. Besides gta 6 is a big project there so new technologies and engines are beibg used for that game, so many unexpected bugs and trails are being runed so rockster is giving it all. When they have that under control, and also see rdo is still generating revenues via gold sales they surely will focus their efforts on rdo. So for now we rdo fan have duty to keep that game alive. (Sorry for any garmmar, English isnt my first language)

This is exactly what I've been hoping too. Now that GTA 6 is done, they should have the resources and know how to repair the damage to RDO. At this point, I'd be happy to sacrifice my progress & start again in a stable, well maintained server
The biggest change in 2023 is modders are stronger then ever in pc. Im harassed and crashed out daily.

Spent the last week completing challenges for gold and nothing else except taking pictures in the snow with the old photo filters for my Arthur/John journal replica.
It's a beautiful game without any serious competitors for "nature immersion", but it has become boring. And no new missions will change that.
Now I put my headphones on and sit on the roofs of Saint Denis and listen to the bells, the rythm of the hooves on cobblestones and the odd shootout between high level players an noob griefers.

In Saint Denis the other day heading to the fast travel post and my proximity chat picked up some middle-aged sounding woman discussing how many sexual partners she's had!😅

Small things can refresh the game, like if they put call to arms in quick jobs the players will find easy team to join ,,3 stars tonics, animal fat,,at general stores,,3rd outfit on posse outfit,,long distance on moonshine delivery,,and many more things to keep it alive until something really new

Heres a thing you might not know, coming from sources within the rockstar, we know the what used to be weekly and now are monthly updates are automated system created by rockstar to save employee time, the game right now has nobody working on it at all. The way newswire works is that they have a team that writes and updates people on whats happening within games and that team has 0 communication with the other team, they just have list of contents from recent updates to work with and thats it. In my opinion knowing this, red dead not receiving the newswire post for monthly updates means little to nothing, it could come down to them forgetting about the game.
I just picked up RDO this week after a few months of non-play. I got loaded into an event within 5 seconds each time I started a lobby. I think this game has awesome potential!

As much as I want them to add more to the game I doubt they will put much effort into it. Regardless of that, I'll continue to play RDO because I enjoy it way more than GTA. I like helping out newer players. The lobbies have been filled with new players recently.

I just picked up the game cause it went on sale and it’s the first time playing since switching from Xbox to pc. I stopped playing right after the moonshine update. Got into a game last night and someone spawned a scarecrow type thing on my character. Is this common on pc?
@@exactlywhatineeded yeah, PC has a lot of modders and strange things that happen because of them. It's almost impossible to play because of it. I prefer to play RDO on console. That's just my opinion though.

it's so sad especially with the latest weeks, I haven't been able to play online, AT ALL. It's just so sad, so much potential.... such a unique game. At least they should sell it to someone who wants to do something with it!
Roles they could have easily added
Arms Dealer - Start an arms dealing business selling weapons to Mexico. Deliveries could work like the trader role and you could steal other players wagons for profit or weapon supplies. Missions could include taking out competition and government officials trying to crack down.
Horse Trader - would include new breeds of horses to buy and in the wild. The horse trader breaks wild horses and trains them up to level for to sell for profit. Could also buy level 1 horses and sell them for profit after being trained. Comes with own personal barn and the ability to have up to 40 horses.
Outlaw/Bank Robber/Heist role - this is pretty self explanatory and would have been easy to do.
Black Market Oil Dealer - rob oil tycoons and sell the oil overseas for profit.
Lawman Role - for the squeaky clean player that wants to hunt down outlaws (npc and player). You get a badge and are sworn in as a US marshall, Lawmen can go after players with bounties and bounties now go higher with higher penalties for wrong doing. The mechanic basically already exists. Role would also come with small story missions and cut scenes.
Mexico DLC - with new bounties story missions mini games like liars dice and more. Could also be connected with arms dealer.
Cattle Baron Roll - purchase a farm and cattle and work your way up to becoming a cattle baron. Includes buying and selling cattle protecting cattle from rustlers stealing cattle from rustlers or other farms. The cattle missions could put you in a solo lobby so the cattle could spawn and not interfere with the map for other players.
This game turned into such a sad waste of potential its criminal smh.
RDO is still surprisingly lively. The open world itself is enough to carry the experience but the hackers and shitty long grind make for a real test of patience. So many things they could’ve improved by now… that being said, RedM and RP servers will keep it alive. If u want pvp, play a different game. RDO is so bad in terms of random player interaction. Half the time a hacker just spawns a mass amount of things nearby you to crash you from the server. Most normal players are pretty chill, but there’s so much missed opportunity. Just sad knowing rdo will be soon gone in the wind
Yeah, it's those cheaters and other disruptive asshats that will eventually drive the game into a grave.
How can I get into these servers? I’m new on pc but played for a bit on Xbox before and a bit after the moonshine update. A modded spawned a scarecrow on me and was spamming Chinese google translate speech in game chat. I’d rather be on those servers than regular if this is gonna be common tbh

Again, pretty much 99% sure all the crashes and disconnects are hackers. I crashed like crazy when I stated playing again after 2 years about a month ago. But then I started using a solo server and haven't crashed once since then. Before It was crashing every 20 odd minutes.
That's fact. I haven't crashed in any solo with that multiple F error nor do I see random things blowing out a stream of fire daily. Needless to say that I don't get lassoed or shot by disruptive asshats, have towns overrun by those losers, and I can also do my Daily Challenges in peace.
If Rstar would include some conversion programs for the online version of the game to be able to run as single player (like the tweaked solo session) to get it offline, I'd be happy with it as is even with the bugs because I don't want it to die which I'm sure Rstar would let it before bothering with a single player conversion. Sucks that we wouldn't even be able to play the actual single player game with no server support from Rstar.
I have a lot of old games that are still very much playable to this day, so it's a shame that RDR2 won't be one of those.
I just began playing again for the first time since last holiday season. , which was probably the only time ive played in the last two years. I used to LOVE playing this when they were still developing content. I still enjoy it, but its just not the same when you know it stays alive through life support.
I was a beta tester for RDR... They had a lot of issues from day one they never fixed this whole time.

Online games in general are finished with all these modders and cheaters mostly from third world countries
I love RDO and I'm a huge fan of this game - If Rokstar closed the RDO servers, it would be a big loss for them because there are an incredibly large number of fans of this game and it is being bought all the time and closing the RDO servers could cause a lot of players to turn away from Rockstar. Many of them would not buy any R* game after all - RDO fans will not play GTA because it is not their style...My heart hurts what Rockstar did with this game... they should really think about it and come to their senses... spoiling such a masterpiece is unthinkable...
Right - RDO is the only thing I enjoy from the Rockstar Lineup of Games. And they are about to take that away.... I love Horses, I like Western Riding but have chronic pneumonia caused by genetic defect that worsened over the years. Besides strong allergies for Grass. So this game is as far as I can get and continue to do one thing I love. I don't need Mafia like Gangstas Paradise with Choppers and Hypercars. I'm glad that I'm out of school and had my fair share of the other end of Bullys Fists when I was there.
I like to enjoy nature and can take care of my steed without the trouble that would it bring to me in RL. Watching the huge Bison, Gators and Blackbear. Bit of Hunting bit of Fishing selling some herbs to the Doc. Collecting and see the world from Mountains, Desert to Swamp.....
Don't mind a bit a rough joke of someone blowing up my saddle bags or lassoing me off my horse just for fun but it would be nice if some of the other fellows would know therir boundaries. If you want to kill everyone in town okay I won't interfere whatever your mission is. Just let me be. Since I tried to make it clear I don't mean no harm. I can't talk in Game since my mic on my headphones is broken. I'm not rude or something.

My wishlist which I feel is realistic would be 1:Crossplay between consoles only 2: a new role or expansion on existing roles 3:A finale Outlaw pass also making previous passes available Those three alone would satisfy me as a customer

I have found the best way to avoid the stable glitch is to tell your horse to flee. Wait until it is gone, out of sight. Then walk into the stable. Every time I do this I haven't gotten stuck.

The thing is about Denzel Washington is his way of acting seems very very real
cant even play now without crashing when activating dead eye or wilderness camp. And even then at some point the game randomly crashes anyway. Also cheaters and modders are rampant
I play solo only , on PC, and have had no issues with crashes at all, though legendary animal spawn far less than they used to.
The last time I even had a disconnect was many months ago, and I still play at least a few minutes each day to keep up my daily challenge streak (pointless, I know, but I can't manage to give up completely yet).
My expectations for the future of RDO are zero. What's left of R games should just sell this title and move on.
They don't want it, while anyone else would be more than happy to take over.

I didn’t start playing this until after they made the announcement. I’m only level 40 something now. Every server I join seems full though and there are plenty of normal players. Of course every server has a modder, but it’s the same in GTAO. Gonna enjoy it as long as I can.

GTA doesn't appeal to me with the modern day tech and cityscapes. The classic GTA games were fun in their novelty but I play RDR for the environment, old time aesthetic and different playstyle. It's not something GTA is able to achieve so it seems a waste if they thought that they can force RDR players to want to play GTA. It means they lose across the board by pushing us out.
One of the best changes that they did this year was removing the blue tokens off of the job horses. They missed one though! LOL Oh, and never played GTA. Have no interest in the game whatsoever. So if RDO is gone, I will no longer be a customer of Rockstar.

I will never switch to GTAO if they finish killing off RDO. It's such a fantastically different immersion when playing and nothing can replace it. All these lame excuses from a giant company like RS is nothing short of pathetic. There are NO reasons for all the bugs, issues and no new content other than RS not wanting to work on RDO. Such a pathetic state all of us RDO fans live in.

What annoys me more than anything is that everyone was against Rockstar and calling them out for their mistreatment of RDO, but as soon as the GTA VI trailer dropped everyone just forgot about RDO and are giving nothing but praise to Rockstar like they’re some god. It’s pathetic.

I remember the online portion of this game in the one prior to it was elite 😂 the lobbies were always packed. It gave GTA 4 vibes but with a western spin, I thought this one would’ve been just as good if not better and was sadly let down.

This at one point in time. I remember the lobby would meet up at one particular point in town and basically have fight clubs going on.
Pc RDO is hacker central. I saw a player with a colored name and I quit the game right away so I can get a fresh server. This is just sad.

All I really want is a fixed game, no stable bug, infinite loading screen and less hackers. The outlaw pass being available again would be great though.
Are you guys even able to play this? I can't get through 20m~ of gameplay before having to close and re open the game for one of several constant bugs. I haven't been able to do moonshine\trader missions AT ALL in my last 12 hours of game play, they both always result in an infinite load screen. Trying to get my hunting wagon either results in me not having any mount access until a restart or if I actually go to the stable it glitches after I select it and try to leave, leaving me stuck staring at the vendor without any of my buttons working. The only thing I can do consistently is hunt in circles or bounty missions :(
they might be focusing on gta 6 but once gta 6 released they might start pumping some money on rdo

What I will say is this.... Gamers these days are so entitled.
Be satisfied with the game, If you constantly need new content to keep your interest in the game, you're doing it wrong.
It is a live service game. They get shut down all the time. About 5-10 big live service games shut down just this year. It isn't unheard of at all. They usually give 3-6 month advance notice so I would not be surprised at all. The game hasn't got an actual DLC in almost 3 years and has been out 5 so kinda the writing is on the wall for it

Man i just bought this game. Im in the second act on story and having a blast online. Didnt know they abandoned this game...
Enjoy the bliss of being new and having things to do , when you get to the higher levels you run out of any motivation to do anything

They need to sell or hire out the online portion. They have so much they could add still. It’s sad but expected that this would happen

Yes, RDO on PC is unplayable for me. It crashes to desktop without error in 5 to 30 minutes. No problem with RDR2 Story or GTAV Online.
Solo lobby with the startup.meta method. No crashes.
Yep. I second that. Blame Rstar for allowing hackers/modders/cheaters to make the game unstable and taking the fun out of full co-op.
I feel really sorry for a friend I originally invited to RDO. He was stuck in the stables during the tutorial and never managed to get out of there, so never could play the game. And at this point, I don't even want him to continue, with how unsafe it is on PC.
Just made him waste money on this.

If you ever need proof Rockstar isn't the same company anymore with it's original morals red dead online is the perfect example The trilogy is only second.
I bought rdr2 online on ps5 but didn't install it then later i tried i couldn't find it nowhere.

Nothing is going to change in 2024, they have completely abandoned the game.
Although it’s sad to see a game be abandoned but at the end of the day rockstar is a business and they have to focus on things that make them more money (gta online) and also they have to get gta 6 out before the decade.
I wonder if we the rdo community was to spam rockstar with requests for dlc's and updates etc they might reconsider and do something?
I assume that they are gonna shut down rdr servers but they will probably do a permanent 2x boost on all money and gold earned or some dumb shit like that
for me i love the game i think its great i would love more content for this game but gta is rockstars baby so when it comes to content its going into gta5 & gta6 i dont really have high hopes for rdr2 online the only thing i like to do is play the pvp which half the time you end up being placed into free roam since the player base is really small (well thats how i feel about it since im playing on pc, could vary from consoles)
my experience of red dead online is that i can not play more than 15 mins bc always crash
It’s crazy when you go from playing current gen gta v to plying rdr2 on console. The framerate makes is basically unplayable
The basic premise here would be that these 2 games share the same player base.
This is far from the truth. I played GTA 1. Yes, I'm that old.
I never saw it as something interesting, deep, or immersive. GTA is basically a sandbox for people to be criminals without real consequences or any sort of realism.
Red Dead Redemptiom tells a deep personal story.
It does not appeal to the same player base.
I do not see a reason why rockstar could not simply hire the same people that produced all those nice ,free mods and bring them part time to work on RDO.
I would pay gold for a more immersive online game.
Its the marketing department, thats where the problem lies.
They are pitching the idea that players will pay for a product simply because its new...rather then because its fun.
And we all know the people that work in marketing never worked in sales
red dead is fun.. level 20 at the moment. joined read dead in 2019.. havnt had the chance to play it lol... but now cant wait to have some fun
