- "Home is where the heart is." In Gamma's case, his pink, feathery heart guided him to where they both belonged. The remote Flicky Island, where he reunited the Flicky siblings with their original keeper. A ten-year-old girl named Aya-who lives on the landmass alongside her grandpa Tomo-and a slew of archaeologists.
Little Aya bestowed new meaning on Gamma's continued existence, lovingly inviting him to live his life in peace alongside her. But peace is a fleeting thing. His former occupation as an E-Series assassin now returns to haunt him-and throws those he cares for into jeopardy. In his most harrowing mission yet, Gamma must look back in order to face the inevitability of what's in front of him.

When you said his head flew off before his body exploded I was reminded of Omega still surviving as just a head in the IDW comic. Now I can't help, but imagine Omega's head just sitting in the sand like a mile away and him saying this line from that comic, "Core processor and operating system intact. After all of this I can only think of Neo Metal Sonic being one who would repair Gamma. Due to that as shown in Sonic Heroes Metal Sonic knew about Omega existence. Also most likely Eggman mentioned Gamma going against him, thus Metal would think he would find an ally in Gamma. So he followed Omega and watched from afar seeing who is truly the strongest E-Series robot

When he said "im ending it here... for now..." tells me that Gama might be in a type of "stasis lock"/"limbo". Too damaged to continue functioning, but just stable enough to keep itself & Co alive.
I could see Eggman coming to investigate what happened to Omega & find the "remains" pg Gama. Possibly complimenting himself on how his older model was not only able to survive such an attack but defeat what was supposed to be a superior model. Chances are he'd plug Gama into a computer to view gama's memories, unknowingly allowing gama's conciousness to find a way to not only save Co, but somehow itself. In a way similar to Omega, even if Eggman finds out he'd watch out of curiosity while feinting ignorance. Being midly impressed, but to stroke his own ego, "Quite impressive, but I'd expect nothing less from something that I created."

mah heart, my soul. Gamma's and Emerl's stories had to be some of the most influential game stories that shaped me as a child and this right here... this right here is gold and pulling at my heart. I love this and honestly don't know if my heart can take another episode, but you better believe I'm waiting for the finale. But for now need tissues.

Sampi? Is that a different alphabet, or some kind of Greek punctuation mark?
@@syweb2-.-Well, it’s technically a Greek number. You see, The Greek alphabet doubles as a number system, were each letter represents a value form 1-9, and then minutes of 10 from 10-90, and then units of 100 from 100-900, and the value is calculated by adding up the values of all the letters. But the normal Greek alphabet is exactly 3 letters sort of being able to do this system completely, i’m so three lectures or added _throughout_ the alphabet when being used as a number system. As a number system, sampi is the one and only letter that comes after omega.
(Technically the three numbers letters a holdover from an earlier alphabet, but I don’t want to go into detail here. I would recommend looking up “greek numbers” if you’re curious.)

I’d love to see an animation of this, Gamma desperately charging his blaster with everything he’s got as his immediate surroundings whip up with the torrent of building energy inside his frame, Omega posturing and gloating ala Perfect Cell, all as that Final Flash theme plays in the background.
All of which is to say: I also got those vibes from this moment in the story. Have a like.
Ok... So from the look of this. Those red eyes are either omega's or neo metal sonic's eyes. I'm leaning more towards omega because I get the feeling eggman made omega for a different reason this time around. But I would not be surprised if it did end up being meta sonic who wants the data of gamma for some reason. Either way, I really hope this doesn't end with the Guardian E-102 Gamma being destroyed. Guess we will just have to wait and see
Edit: Oh... It seems like gamma truly acted like a guardian till the end. That omega vs gamma fight was just amazing. I dont care if it ended up with similarities to sonic universe issue 3, it was still awesome. The all out killer war machine vs the Guardian robot. An all out brawl that ended in both of them dying. I am honestly SHOCKED that omega died. Arrogant till the end. Throughout the fight I actually made strange parallels to goku vs vegeta. Probably a better comparison out there but it felt fitting.
I think this was always supposed to be gamma's fate. He was meant to die and if anything, he had both a worse and better death here. Worse in the case that it not only cost his own life but the life of koko and the fact that more were hurt because of him. But better in the case that he make his true connection with all the birds and aya and died protecting what he loved.
Now the question here is, can this story continue.... Yes and no. He has probably no way of being brought back unless eggman himself wanted to rebuild him but even then I'm pretty sure he would make him obedient and he wouldnt have the influence of koko in him. So he would never be the same. The only way I can see him coming back is through his other incarnation from sonic battle, Chaos Gamma. But again, he will not be the same. I just wonder now how things will be affected since omega is not part of what would of been team dark.
But in any case if this is the true end of E-102 Gamma, then I thank you segascourge. You gave us a nice story that not only expanded on the lore of the flickies but had us see gamma becoming something he could of been and die for what he loved. This is a farewell to The True Guardian, E-102 Gamma. If you can extend the story I would love to see what you can do but if not then this is ok. Thank you and I'll see you all for the next sonic what if

There is an out here. It's due to the way Scourge keeps referring to the birds. These are Flickies, and this is Flicky Island, meaning that this is the island of transport-capable birds found in Sonic 3D-Blast. So...

There is a hush of silence as everything powers down within Gamma. The camera starts to pan away, but then...there is some tweeting nearby. The two birds look up, and Aya shortly after. There is a...similar-looking bird to Mi and Fuu, but...something is clearly off about it. Aya can tell it's talking to the other birds, but of course she can't understand it. However, what it is...is that in all this time, the other Flickies have been watching, and when a traveller from the other dimension inevitably came here, they would mention the strange robot. That made the travellers watch Gamma very carefully, and then at this moment, this one asked if there was anybody they knew who could help, much as the blue hedgehog had once saved *them* from disaster. The reply goes 'Yes, and Mi and Fuu describe Tails. Alright, this seems doable, with enough of them around and someone to direct the the portal...
It's a rush job, but with the battle going on as it had, enough of the empowered Flickies were already watching, and felt simultaneously bad for the scene that unfolded afterwards. A portal is opened, and its endpoint is on *this* world, at Tails' workshop, where Sonic was also hanging out and...what the heck is this?! Okay, heading in, the two of them drop onto the island - a place Sonic recognizes and Tails has at least heard about - but it's clear that sight-seeing is going to have to wait. They see Gamma as a severe wreck, and the bits and pieces of another robot all over the vicinity.
Tail: Agh! What happened?! Did he overcharge the cannon? I warned him about that!
Aya: Y-you know him? Can you fix him? Please, you have to save them!
Sonic: He looks a real mess. Can you do it, Tails?
Tail: Maybe if I had time, but with a life on the line, I-I dunno! I'll try!
Tails starts inspecting what's left of Gamma, rattling off what is wrong and what he needs to do to save Ko, who must be fading fast without the support of Gamma's system. It boils down to two very important things: Even if he can't save Gamma, he has to do something for Ko. As he's taking every bit of wire and circuit to jury-rig the hell out of Gamma's central core, he asks Sonic to get about as much cable as he can lay his hands on and try to find *anything* that looks like it's a power cell. Sonic immediately comes back with a cable from the nearby camp, barely a second passed, and then focuses on the other task.
Sonic: Power cell, power cell... Will this work?
He picks up and hands over one of Omega's chaos drivers. The other robot's strength could not be denied, and so not all of his power cells blew. *Just one of them* survived, and Tails crosses his fingers as he makes the connection. When the core powers up, he's hopeful. When he asks Sonic to get a screen and he connects the camp's TV to get a status display on Ko's condition, he's alive. Cheers go up as the immediate crisis is handled, Tails breathing a sigh of relief, like a doctor who just about managed to save a patient's life. Naturally, Aya almost tackled him with a hug, for good measure. That being said, though...this was only a short-term solution, and also...
Aya: What about Gamma? Can you bring him back, as well?
Tails: I don't know for sure. Eggman's technology is weird, and I barely squeezed by, *this time*. I'd probably have to try and put his cord processor in a new body that I'd have to build. And as much as I want to help him, we have to help Ko first.
Seeing that this has made Aya sad, both Tails and Sonic try to cheer her up.
Tails: Hey, it's alright. Gamma's a machine, so if there's anything we *can* do, he'll keep at least until we *do.*
Sonic: We always help friends in need, and Gamma made it very clear that he's one of us.
Aya: You promise?
They both promise, at once. But then, what do they do? This was almost-certainly going to take drastic measures. They couldn't even be sure if Gamma's core was healing Ko in all this time or just sustaining him, and right now he was *definitely* still too fragile, which means...they need to do something...a bit risky.
Tails: Sonic, we need a Chaos Emerald, a real one, and a generator for converting its energy. If we can give Ko a burst of energy through a device capable of safely conducting it through a robot body, that energy will give her strength, and she'll be able to recover.
Sonic: You know what you're asking, don't you, Tails? Not only do we need to *find* one of those things, but also...
Tails: Metal Sonic, I know.
Aya: Who's Metal Sonic? Is he another robot?
Sonic: Yeah, one like me, and one with incredibly dangerous power. This is gonna get a little rough, but a promise is a promise.
Since you said Eggman is doing the project like the Egg Fleet, gives me the idea that Neo Metal Sonic might find and repair Gamma, of course with Neo disguised as Eggman, repaired the robot possibly into Chaos Gamma, locked in the room with Shadow, taking Omega's place in Team Dark (note one of the concepts of Sonic Heroes planning to bring back Gamma in a team with Big and Chaos)

So you know how the Sonic Encyclo-Speed-ia comes out in September? Could you imagine if it goes into the lore of the birds and ruins this entire AU? My heart goes out to you if that does happen.
Even if so, there have been loads of stories ruined in practice by new info, but the stories are still good

This seems like the end, but it's not? Gamma is beyond repair, he seemingly dies and any potential options that we know of that can save him are off the table. Yet, Tomo's fate remains unknown, the island is in disarray and Omega being gone could affect Sonic Heroes. The future is uncertain.

OMG you’ve surprised me once again.
The appearance of Omega was unexpected, the battle between Gamma & Omega was epic and the fact that it ended with Omega getting destroyed blew me away.
But most importantly I was heartbroken by Gamma’s heroic sacrifice I honestly wasn’t expecting it to end this way and I can’t see anyway that Gamma can be brought back but I'm sure you can come up with something.
Overall great video as always and really excited for all the future what if videos to come this year.

Hmmm... I have a theory:
Obviously the events of Sonic Heroes will take place soon after this so Sonic battle hasn't happened yet...
It is established that Gamma was created from the remaining parts of the E-Series Robots. I believe that Eggman has been keeping tabs on his latest creation just in case and upon getting an alert that Omega was destroyed, he dispatched a few robots to pick up the remains. And that includes Gamma's. Eventually he uses parts from both Gamma and Omega to create a brand new E-Series Robot... one that has both of their memories...
Scourge is back, and hes done it again! I listened to parts 1 and 2 at work, then this when I got home. What an amazing story, filled with overwhelming emotion. I almost cried at the end! If this is truly the end then it's a fitting and beautiful one.
Gosh this might be the only time where I've cried with one of these videos, Aya's VA nailed the hell out of it with an amazing performance
I hope that Omega makes another appearance, repaired by someone, but he has a change of heart and lets Gamma go free.

Well, that was depressing. It's sad that it ends like this, we didn't even know if Aya's grandfather survived or if he'll ever walk again. But it's beautiful in a way.

I'm gonna need a moment to process this because HOLY COW, SO MUCH HAPPENED, THERE WERE SO MANY FEELS ESPECIALLY AT THE ENDING, MY GOD. I'm freaking hoping there's another part to this What If because I don't think my heart will be able to handle it if this is the finale. ;-;

As much as I would like to see Gamma and Koko survive, I’m not sure where we can possibly go with them that would hold our interest...
I’m willing to accept if the story ends here. It would be nice if we get an epilogue of Amy and the others learning of Gamma and Koko’s shared demise, though.
I am literally crying right now...
Gamma was such a great character and it’s sad to see that he might die and to think so soon for a what if series to end.

“All Eggman’s Robots must be eliminated!”
If this isn't the end of the gamma what if story (which I hope not) I have two theories of how Gamma might come out this alive.
1. G.U.N goes to the island to help Tomo's campsite they find Aya next to the now broken Gamma and decide to bring him back to headquarters for research, Aya begs them to help fix him and save Ko. They put thought into this idea and comply but unsure if such repairs to him is possible. In exchange Gamma becomes property of G.U.N but is site to Tomo's team as protection and will be assigned missions when needed.
2.This one seems unlikely but would be interesting. Eggman goes to the island to check and see if Omega has done the deed, only to find he was half correct. Surveying the aftermath of the two robots battle he's shock to find Omega whats left of him at least in smoldering pieces. He then turns to find Aya next to Gamma's broken body relived that this wasn't a total loss, somewhat glad Omega was destroyed along side Gamma thinking he would of just betrayed him like Gamma did if he had survived the scuffle, kill two birds with one stone. Aya now noticing Eggman's presents steps back in fear with her flickies close to her. But instead of making a run for it she musters up some courage to plead with the doctor to save Gamma and Ko, her hopes are if anyone could fix Gamma it would be his creator. Eggman goes to outright refuse the idea but stops himself mulling the idea over crafting a plan in his head. He then as if having a change of heart offers to help Aya's flicky friend and repair Gamma, before putting a coy smile and having his robots capture Aya and her flickies taking them to the egg fleet. After which abord his ship Eggman repairs Gamma surveying his new parts that were absent from their last encounter, he was impressed with the previous upgrades Gamma had on him. Figuring out tails applied the upgrades to him he give a sarcastic compliment to tails amazing (albeit to Eggman sloppy) handiwork of implementing beta mrk2's parts. Upon Gamma's reactivation question what has happen seeing he has been repaired possible even modified now having one of omega's arm now attached to him in place of his old arm. Eggman gladly shows himself to Gamma as if welcoming an old friend. Furious at seeing the doctor again ready's his weapon to attack him. But Eggman is unfazed saying "That is no way to thank your creator who willingly repaired you." then Eggman turns to one of his screens showing Aya and the flickies Mi and Fu locked in a prison cell. Eggman offers Gamma a deal he CAN'T refuse. He will look into how to safely extract the flicky inside him and keep Aya and the other flickes safe from harm, in return Gamma must pledge his loyalty to Eggman once again and serve in the Eggman empire. Should Gamma refuse or tries to step out of line. Eggman not to only have Gamma terminated on spot killing Ko in the process but will plan to use Aya, Mi and Fu in his later projects should he try to betray him again. Now given this ultimatum Gamma calculates futile chances of escaping in one piece and with his new families safety. Begrudgingly Gamma agrees to Eggman's offer in defeat.

This really affected my heart.😢 Not even the Chaos Drive that Omega had can't help Gamma or Ko? Looks like it is time to let it go...
Me: YEAH BOIIII ANOTHER WHAT IF VIDEO!!! Premiere in 17 hours. Me: *yeets his phone off his bed, scratches his face, runs around the room at the speed of whatever, runs around the house 20 times, oofs the freezer, crashes the car, steals a plane, crashes it into a factory, hijacks a train, makes it crash into something, returns home, turns on the pc, starts live and learn, puts it to max volume to make everyone wake up and questions his life* (sorry for copypasting this from discord)

I have a good feeling Eggman (or at least Neo Metal sonic pretending to be him) is going to show up and save Gamma to reclaim him and pretty much have him replace Omega in guarding Shadow.

i can't wait to see how this affects sonic heroes, probably not a whole lot but still.
I don't have tears for crying but i definitely felt something coming. If only the good robots and great villains in the sonic media weren't meant to be destroyed or die off, maybe well have more emotional stories. Farewell, gamma and omega
It is always a treat see Eggman robots go through such a radical change. From being a killing machine to cause destruction to a selfless hero who went further beyond their own programming to save the lives they were built to take.

Although that is possible, Tails is nowhere nearby and he was the only one with the slightest idea of how to rebuild Gamma. Apart from Dr. Eggman of course but good luck getting him to help.
Maybe Eggman comes to investigate after Omega’s signal goes offline, finds Gamma, wipes his memory, then repairs and maybe upgrades him, and tasks him with guarding Shadow’s stasis cell?
Omega isn't even that great gamma is so underrated

So Gamma literally defeated Omega in a One for All effort, taking his life with him and Ko. This is a real tragic sacrifice I'll never forget. As for Gamma, I don't know if there's any chances of survival after that cause holy sh*t that's painful!
That now leaves a mystery for Sonic Heroes and onwards now that E-123 Omega is gone, unless Eggman has some plans going forward.
If you think of it technically Omega succeed in his mission if Gamma was indeed destroyed or Eggman believed Gamma was destroyed. Though Eggman might also believe this as a failure since Omega didn't come out of the fight unscathed. Especially if it was due to arrogance. (Funny considering this is Eggman we're talking about.) So this could be the reason Omega was locked away in the room to guard Shadow. Too useful and powerful to let go to waste but too prideful, cocky and independent to give him a mission of importance until a lesson is learned.
There is a reason Metal Sonic continues to be rebuilt time and time again. Even after his rebellion in heroes.

Something I really enjoy about these What Ifs is how powerful they portray Ωmega, which is something not even the Games do sometimes. In Sonic's Lost Memory he pretty much single handedly cripples the Egg Fleet, in Gemerl his body is shown to be a match for even Shadow and Gemerl, and now this, it really shows respect for one of the best characters in the series.
I do think it begs the question though, if Eggman knew of the danger Γamma posed, why did he give Ωmega free will too? And what happened to E-106 to E-122, did they get sent on missions and get deatroyed like in Post-Reboot Archie?

I watched every Gamma "What if" as they came out and loved them, since he's my favorite character to come from the games. Another one I just thought of is "What if Gamma stayed subservient to Robotnik?".
Can I just say your what ifs are freaking awesome, the battle was so vivid & intense, and the voice acting enhances the whole thing even further, bravo, I look forward to your next video

i like how you took note of the archie one. its a shame its all in its own archie timeline and not with the rest. there were some cool things that could have been cared over but alas.
