Slight update for new people that are looking to do this AFSC it’s 50 classroom days which equates to about 3 months I’m currently doing it and almost done with my time in Sheppard I’m also heavy shred aka B shred it’s very easy and fun to learn easy to understand and time flys by very quick I started class Feb 14 and finish April 24th definitely recommend this job
Thank u so much bro for this , I’m gonna put this on my list love the honesty and telling how it realllt is . Wish me luck and blessings on your journey
In 1980 i did this job but it's 427x3 fabication and parachute specialist and tech school was at chunte afb ill. So funny how they change things around. Well good luck in your air force adventure.
Awesome I’m currently in Sheppard for tech school just looking up on videos to help me out more, sometimes my instructor makes me sleepy cos the way he teaches lmao
You are not lying about how there is no information of AFE at all. Your video actually helped a lot. But so far how are you liking the job? This and security forces are my 2 job choices that are open right now and they were number 4 and 5 on my list so I’m having a hard time picking which one I’m kind of nervous about it ngl.
Honestly don’t go SF i rather do AFE over SF any day cuz we work a 9-5 schedule have weekend off etc. And in AFE you have opportunities to tdy and travel yfm. SF just not something I wouldn’t wanna do work 12s, be at the gate a lot till you can patrol yk but definitely do what you think is best. Id strongly suggest AFE tho or something else, I had sf on my list and that’s all they would push on me and I told them no so they gave me this thank god.
Good video man. I'm considering this job through the ANG. You mentioned it being a 6 month tech school, but the job sheet I have from my recruiter shows it being only 8 weeks at Sheppard. Did the length change again?
@@tech_gear not to sure, when I was there it was 6ish weeks and talks were that it would extend to 6 months but new airman who been coming to my base have been saying it’s still short so 8 weeks if probably accurate.
@@tech_gear how do I like what? Fire or the guard? The guard is sick. Best kept secret of the military in my opinion. The is sick and sets you up well outside the military but I’ve had enough with it. I want to go to AFE to be around the pilots and work my way to becoming a pilot.
I wouldn’t say difficult like extremely hard, but I do hear a lot of it takes a toll on you, your constantly flying, it’s a cool job tho something I’d do fs if i could redo it all
When they shred out everyone between fighters and heavies in tech school, do you get to chose or is there anything you can do to try to go to the fighters side or do they randomly split people up. Also do they shred you out before you get your orders and first duty station when you first get to tech school so that you know what bases to list on your dream sheet as far as heavy and fighter bases?
It’s a new thing now I was the last class b4 the shred so I assume you get your shread at bmt then you make ur list base of where u can go I did it all at bmt. So I would assume bases for ur shread will come up on your list to choose from. Also ig luck if the draw what you get for shread and base.
if trying to be a AFE in the air guard, can you choose between fighter and heavies or does the AF choose for you? if so, do they choose whoever did best in tech school, or is it random?
@@ClipzzGaming no, where u get stationed is where you live and work day to day… deployments are a short/long period of time where your doing your job somewhere else away from your duty station
What up bro, me and you got the same AFSC and I ship out to BMT this Tuesday. Ima put Dyess on my dream sheet and ima definitely hit you up if I end up at Dyess with you
Not sure 100% but when I was there I heard they were extending the course and that my class was the last 3-4 month class. And yea I like the job it honestly has more pros than cons i think

3 years as security forces member don’t do it. I’m trying cross train into AFE
Currently just booked this job. Leaving May 22🥳
I was AFE when i was in the Airforce, I was stationed at Kadena And JB Andrews, worked Heavies, Flighters, Helos, Packed chutes for The Pjs and CCTs.
Sounds like you had a great career in AFE bro

This is the job I want. Was tech school hard? And how hard was it to get this job?
Tech school is easy and i had put this number 4 on my list so if you wait a bit you should get it if you put it high on your list
Warbieee . I love hearing how each AFE’s shop operates. As you know I’m at a training base so my AFE shop’s workload is HELLA different lol
Hope all is well hopefully we run into eachother again soon! Lol
How long have you been deployed so far? How much time did you stay at your TDY?
I’m AFE after the shred out anyone wondering if you pick you can’t. Luck of the draw
How you’re liking your job so far man?
It’s great
@@elmarkotv that’s good to hear 👍
do you know what bases have heavies so i can choose the bases that will allow me to work on heavies rather than fighters?

My AFSC says 1P0X1 B do you know what the B stands for like which shred it is? I can’t find it anywhere.
B means your shredded to heavies A means fighters/ejection seat airframes
