      After more than a decade of doing this, Ebbers is still very strongly biased towards Barry. The things he said he likes the most about the pasta dish were the thing he told Berry to do. If he had made the exact same type of suggestion to mike during the competition instead of being snarky about it afterwards, Mike would have faired better. And yes, Ebbers doesn't like anyone showing him up so when a normal completes things he's never heard of or tried to do before, he pouts and doesn't give them the appropriate credit :(

      How can it be that hard, if as Mikey boi himself said "I saw it on tiktok and thought I'll give that a go".
      You know why Ben hasn't bothered trying a a water-chocolate mix? Because he's not a lunatic on a "health track", cutting out dairy in the form of milk/cream, but then adding MILK CHOCOLATE to the dish.
      Mike was all over the place with his vision of the dish, Barry made seafood mix and got a badge because Ben told him to char the tomato skins and Jamie once again outperformed the other two but is somehow only second on badges.

    I always feel Mike tends to get done over in these challenges, because he tends to pick things which are tricky rather than showy and then tends to suffer, while Barry and Jamie are probably better at managing to pick things which they can execute to look and taste good and which are fairly low risk in the grand scheme of things. Still think he deserves a badge for managing to make an edible water ganache, because even if the idea isn't his, the execution is evidently quite hard.

      @@Sletchman Yeah and I do dislike how Ben just, ignores Jamie so much. Acts surprised when he does well. • @MohamadMajdalawi
      @MohamadMajdalawi ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@Sletchman but Barry literally wasn’t the overall winner here😂 and what Barry did here wasn’t cheating at all, it follows the rules.
      I love Mike of course, but everyone is seeing what he did as an impressive, out of the world, thing just because Ebbers hasn’t done them before. But to me, they seemed like both the sauce and the ganache were extremely easy for him to do (literally just mixing two ingredients for each). While things could’ve gone wrong for both, they definitely don’t deserve any technique badges. I could see him getting a creativity badge for the sauce but definitely not the ganache.

    • @MohamadMajdalawi
      @MohamadMajdalawi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Sletchman I agree that Barry doesn’t really deserve the creativity badge. I think his use of the fried pasta was kind of creative since I’ve never seen that before, but that’s about it. However, while his use of ingredients was bogus like you said, it still follows the rules. He just found a loophole and took advantage of it.
      Honestly, I feel like none of them were that creative because when I think of a creative dish, I think of a dish that the creator came up with on their own and that is unlike what we’re used to. Since Mike was recreating videos he watched, the water ganache can’t count as creative in my opinion. His sauce on the other hand was creative, despite its simplicity. I know that Mike’s components are very easy to mess up, but he just followed a ratio and it worked fine very easily.
      I feel like for a creative challenge to make sense, the ingredients have to be presented on the spot without the chefs/normals having prior time to research things. Because once you’re given time to pick ingredients and research a dish, it automatically becomes less creative because 99% of the time, you’ll just try to replicate components of other dishes together.

  • @tastymedleys

    Mike may not have gone as creative as the others on the whole, but he 100% deserves a badge for learning techniques that nobody on Sorted has ever used (on camera) before! Water ganache and olive oil chocolate sauce? That was really impressive.
    Regarding Barry's dish, I'd say that while some might consider the leftover compound butter a bit of a cheat, you can also just buy butters that already have herbs and spices in them. So in the end it's no different to getting a bag of mixed seafood; you only buy one thing. I might even say he deserves a win for picking 3! ingredients that all substituted multiple other ones - the ink pasta, the mixed seafood and the butter. Very smart choices.
