Hi Marry- Fellow adoptee here. Have you registered with Ancestry and 23 & Me? I went from 1 adoptive sis to 11 bio sibs in a short time. My reunion story is nearly a fairytale but be careful what you wish for as most are not. That said it should be YOU who gets to decide. Thank god for adoption-related therapy. Whether they are willing ro meet or not, in this day and age, it's impossible not to be found and no mistake. And whether your mother is still alive or not, it at least would make it more possible to discover health histories and circumstances.

The only adopted children / adults I've ever known had the best of both worlds.
Usually open adoptions, they had some level of communication with their birth parent and then truly loving and accepting adoptive parents.
Once I was aware of the adoption I would never refer to them as... _"your adoptive parents"_ .. simply *_your parents_* .

Oh, another one of these “Hollywood” adoption stories. Let me tell you something: two of my children were adopted at birth. We never stood in the way of either of them reconnecting with their birth mother. Our daughter tried. It didn’t go well. She was utterly rebuffed, and I think that’s the majority of experiences. Our son never bothered; he said his parents were the ones who loved and raised him. I’m glad this woman came full circle. It doesn’t happen often.
