When I was listening to them and going to their concerts as a teenager in the 80s, I never imagined that their music would mean even more to me now than it did back then. @alexandriaocasio-smollett5078 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Agreed. But it’s not just him. It’s the entire band. It’s puzzled me as well because they’re not bad guys. In fact, quite the opposite.
I believe a major factor in why that dynamic exists with them is because of how long(and consistently) the band has been around with zero lineup changes/break ups. In fact, they are now officially the longest running band in the history of rock without lineup changes, break ups, deaths, etc. So I think at some point it becomes a matter of public exhaustion. Its kinda like the exact opposite effect of why legacies of certain artists/actors/politicians grow exponentially when they die young/at their peak(Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, James Dean, JFK, RFK, etc.). Those individuals are frozen in time without anyone seeing any personal/artistic/cognitive decline.. Whereas with U2/Bono, their legacies have declined a bit because we’ve witnessed their downslope. I’m not saying that’s the only reason. But I’m convinced it is a major reason for the dynamic we just described.

When the funeral home came to get him, on a gurney, swathed in the American flag (as he was a veteran) Bullet the Blue Sky was playing on the stereo. It sounded so deep and intense as what my soul was feeling at the moment. I cry like a baby every time I hear that song now. Now, when I need a good cry, I'll BLAST it.

I was introduced to U2 in the mid 80s by a high school friend and never looked back after hearing SBS. I've been lucky enough now to see them twice. The first time in '92 at Houlihan's (Tampa) stadium for the ZooTV tour and just recently for the second time in Vegas at Sphere. I really wanted to see them again to bring the experience full circle knowing they are in the 'twilight' of their careers. Being without Larry Mullen Jr was a huge letdown but they performed well and I consider myself lucky to have heard them live twice in my life.

There are several artists or bands that I have seen several times u2 being one of them. All the rest have had both good and bad nights. But u2 never has a bad night ever. These boys always bring it. I've traveled to see them in different places and when they're in town if they play 2 nights I go both nights. And Ali is a treasure, so strong and independent doing her own thing. She's not some silicone playmate that just spends her days shopping. Just think if you think Bono is so cool imagine how cool the woman who's kept him coming home for 40 years is! Viva l'amour ❤!

Though they don't call themselves one, U2 is basically the world's biggest and best Christian rock band, but because they don't explore Christian themes in a heavy-handed way, and they take on other subjects, most people don't really notice. Just a quick look at some of their biggest songs: I Will Follow, Gloria, Surrender, Pride, Bad, MLK, 40, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, One, Until the End of the World, Elevation, etc.
