    U2’s music has often been my go to during my most saddest moments in my life dealing with loss, abandonment, and deep sadness. Especially since the passing of my adopted mom several months ago.💔😢🥀 “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own” is a deeply personal favorite of mine as I often think of the loss of my own biological dad. Love me some Bono and he’s got, such a compassionate warm heart it seems as well.💛

      Bono lost his mother as a teenager. The song "Lemon" is about finding an old 8mm film of her wearing a yellow dress. In fact a lot of his songs have some reference to her death and how it affected him.

    U2 has helped me through some very depressing times in my life. Electrical Storm is the song which got me through my senior year of high school because of my bipolar disorder but nobody diagnosed me. I can't say enough good things about them.
    U2 is just a great rock band who manage to reinvent themselves a lot. Probably the best thing to come out Ireland.

    • @hutch1197
      @hutch1197 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@davidclarke8750 He doesn't "preach" about poverty. He walks the walk. He has successfully lobbied first world governments to forgive hundreds of billions of debt to impoverished countries. He has personally used his connections with wealthy and powerful people to raise billions for direct aid to the worlds poorest, raising money for housing, food and fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa. And he has personally donated millions of his own money. Just because he's wealthy (with money he earned by the way), doesn't mean he's a bad person. He has used his position for nothing but good. And he has never asked the poor to "tighten their belts". You're really reaching here.

    • @etainafuzz
      @etainafuzz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@davidclarke8750 you 100% have Bono all wrong. He has been, and still is, an advocate for the poor. He's donated millions of his own money, raised millions from charity auctions, used his phone book to solicit additional millions from "rich friends", and most importantly he's donated a LOT of his own time helping the poor. In fact, U2 almost ceased to exist around the late 90's because of the amount of time Bono was spending on his charity work. The band ended up giving him an ultimatum. Bono has always said that both he and the band try and use their "celebrity" status as "currency." Meaning, if they can use their status to make the world a better place and help those that need it then they have done their job.

    I'm not a religious person, nor do I go to church, but seeing U2 is the closest thing to a "religious" experience I've ever had. The War album started it off for me but it was Unforgettable Fire that sealed the deal when I was a 12 year old kid growing up in small town Texas. Of course Bono decides to do just that years after I graduate 😂 But to see him walking the same hallways I once walked is truly surreal. I already feel very proud to be a woman from the northside of Dublin, but knowing a band as big as U2 grew up in neighbourhoods a stone's throw away and sat in the same classrooms as me has definitely elevated that sense of pride 💙

      @alexandriaocasio-smollett5078 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Agreed. But it’s not just him. It’s the entire band. It’s puzzled me as well because they’re not bad guys. In fact, quite the opposite.
      I believe a major factor in why that dynamic exists with them is because of how long(and consistently) the band has been around with zero lineup changes/break ups. In fact, they are now officially the longest running band in the history of rock without lineup changes, break ups, deaths, etc. So I think at some point it becomes a matter of public exhaustion. Its kinda like the exact opposite effect of why legacies of certain artists/actors/politicians grow exponentially when they die young/at their peak(Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, James Dean, JFK, RFK, etc.). Those individuals are frozen in time without anyone seeing any personal/artistic/cognitive decline.. Whereas with U2/Bono, their legacies have declined a bit because we’ve witnessed their downslope. I’m not saying that’s the only reason. But I’m convinced it is a major reason for the dynamic we just described.

      Bono has done more to destroy Europe than any other entertainer. He has the same politics as Bill Gates and Tony Blair. Ireland is being completely demographically destroyed with open borders and your boy is happy about it. The American Empire wants war with Russia and Bono is happy to promote that too. If he wasn't a Globalist shill he wouldn't be getting positive coverage from American Corporate Media.

    U2 is the sound track of my youth. When my dad died last year, we kept his body for the day for out of town family to be able to come make their closure. When the funeral home came to get him, on a gurney, swathed in the American flag (as he was a veteran) Bullet the Blue Sky was playing on the stereo. It sounded so deep and intense as what my soul was feeling at the moment. I cry like a baby every time I hear that song now. Now, when I need a good cry, I'll BLAST it.
