    Those doctors gaslit her. If a mom says "this isn't my baby" a doctor's FIRST reaction should be to order a dna test, not try and convince her she is wrong.

    • @Mariet31
      @Mariet31 4 ปีที่แล้ว +449

      Something tells me that was not the first time it happened and they just normalized "it's not my baby." Whoever was the nurse responsible for such a stupid mistake should have her/his license revoked permanently.

    • @belladingdong3396
      @belladingdong3396 4 ปีที่แล้ว +197

      @@Mariet31 Yes, but no. No matter what, the first response to a woman saying for the first time, "this isn't my baby" needs to be hospital procedure to immediately order a test. If it's a "repeat" offender, you can stop testing. But a new mom? Test for her sake. In america, that's just another excuse to charge more money anyway.
      I agree though that the nurse and doctor who refused to order a DNA test need to have their licenses suspended.

    • @belladingdong3396
      @belladingdong3396 3 ปีที่แล้ว +96

      @@Mariet31I hear you, but I'm sorry that's still no excuse. The mentality of the hippocratic oath should lead to the logic of first validating any medical concern by ordering the appropriate tests and THEN determining if that concern was legitimate or not, depending on the results of the test, not the opposite way around. That is lazy medical care, that is jaded medical care, and that is negligent medical care.

      @@belladingdong3396 yes! Even when I was working in smaller facilities, we had to validate that something wasn’t right or that the patient wasn’t just having some type of episode. If you were sleeping, the baby was to be put on the side of the bed in the crib away from the door. And only released to a nurse or doctor with a pink badge.

      Sarah Joy in Australia (where I birthed) if mum or bubs has undergone trauma during the birth, bubs is taken into the nursery away from mum, so although the chance of a Bub mix up is rare, it is possible.

We did this EVERY TIME baby left mother's side. Babies had 2 types of ID one of which was a plain number which mother read and signed a form for on admission while she had all her wits about her. ALL BABIES had an ID band on all limbs! This story is insane!

      I realise she loved this little boy..I also know the other mother was loving the baby she had..
      I honestly believe one of my first thoughts would have been the other mother as well..
      for one she has my baby.. this is going to be heartbraking for both of us..
      I can't believe until the solicitor said the other baby has to go back to his mother!! that this lady believed she was keeping both of these babies.this was a couple of hours before she had to hand over the baby to his mother!! and this lady was willing to keep both babies!!
      Two babies two mother's and each of these mother had the right to have their babies back!. NOT one mother keeps both...

      ma wee chickadee WOW!!! Are you really that judgmental and lacking in compassion??? The woman was on an emotional rollercoaster. She had loved a child as her own unconditionally for several months. Even nursed that child. Then her real child is found. Sounds like she simply needed some time to adjust to that reality before having to face the reality that finding her own child meant losing the child that had been in her care. It wasn’t a matter of her “selfishly” desiring to keep both children. Seems like she simply hadn’t had time to absorb the fact that as she gained one child she was about to lose another. Have some compassion! After what she went through, I think she earned the benefit of a doubt.

It turned out that the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and it choked him to death. She grieved for that baby her entire life. I think doctors just get jaded and stop listening to their patients after a few years.

Indeed, let me teach you who you really are straight from the dictionary : "A United Statian (or simply Statian) is a person from the United States of America, since the term American refers to any person in the western hemisphere."
      A Columbian is an American too and so is a Sho Shon or Alconquian Amerindian. But you, you are the descendant of the group that calls itself the United states under its constitution and is most correctly named a United-Statian, which is more defining and precise than loosely calling you an american Like a Brazilian. This is your first lesson.
      Second lesson that you are in need of : English style. A "Texan american" is correct language style. The intended redundancy is not incorrect when it is a sub-categorization like Apache Indian or New south wales Australian, or Parisian French.
      Now if you had any manners you would thank me for teaching you who you are and proper English. But no, If you want my respect you will have to teach me something in French. Yes, you can not, I am afraid.

    This happened with my sister when she gave birth to her baby girl she noticed her baby was bald, well they took her baby to the nursery and next thing you know they bring back her baby with a cap on and all bundled and clean she starts to breast feed it and takes off the cap and notices the baby had a head full of dark hair she called the nurse in and told her this was not her baby the nurse then told her it was and she was just medicated and it was her baby my sister insisted it was not her baby and put up a fight sure enough they had switched her baby with another. Thank god my sister fought it and demanded they give her back her baby.

      There was a story about a girl and her parents killed in a car accident. It turned out the girl was switched at birth because the people who raised her were poor and the other baby had a heart problem.
      The one with the heart problem had well off parents who took great medical care;however they divorced because while looking for a donor matches of marrow the DNA said impossible for the dad to be the dad. Yet didn't acknowledge the mother was not the mother. After suing the hospital the family learned their daughter died in a car accident.

    • @krissymissy1888

      +john 321 They do that to let the mother recuperate from just giving birth and they have to clean the baby and check to be sure nothing is wrong with the baby. But especially some women can be in labor for a long time then the energy it takes to push the baby out is very exhausting even more so if they had to have a C-section cause they are given medications for the pain and such. The nurses were just extremely negligent , they are supposed to put a band on the babies ankle with the room and mothers name. I dunno about all hospitals or what they do but the hospital I was at this was their standard protocol. They even put a security monitor on the babies ankle and if the child is taken within so many feet an alarm will go off.

    • @sarahr.1076
      @sarahr.1076 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      In a lot of german hospitals you can decide, whether to give your child to the nursery or keep it in your room.
      But usually they immediately put a name tag on the baby (little bracelet or something like this). So maybe the nurses at this hospital were really stressed this day.

    • @krissymissy1888
      @krissymissy1888 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Sarah R. That's true but they ALWAYS take the baby to the nursery at first so they can fully exam the baby and clean the amniotic fluid off the baby check for jaundice, things like that. They give your child a small check-up in the room with you and if he/she is breathing fine and not in a life or death situation they let you hold your child first and take some pictures before taking him/her to the nursery. But after they bring the baby back to the room it's up to you if you want to send the baby back, but if they have to put you on pain meds and no one is with you to help when needed, they take the baby to the nursery right after they give the meds to you just in case the meds make you drowsy .
